Reviews for Ambassador Hotel Waikiki

Review 1:The elevators rattled a little but were 'johnie on the spot'.

Review 2:Ambassador is an older hotel but in the heart of Honolulu. The staff was great, always available for questions and info. Yes, the room was a little dated, but clean, large, a big kitchen, and comfortable. Lots of storage space. Large screen TV. Comfortable beds. We stayed two nights and the tour bus picked us up right outside the door (rocking chairs available while waiting). Pool on the third floor, towels available. Laundry, three washers, four dryers. All in all, it was a nice place to stay prior to cruising the islands on the Pride of America. It was our first time in Honolulu.

Review 3:The pool hours were brief. I never got to use it.

Review 4:the set up. I had an attached room with a double and a twin. I had a living area with two beds set up as an l shaped couch. The wrap around balcony was amazing.

Review 5:My bookin.com price was $666 USD. At check out it was $884 USD (including taxes and a bunch of fees)! Dont be too excited with getting a good price at this place since you will have 33% increase at the end

Review 6:Everthing is fine!

Review 7:I think the rooms could be updated & painted

Review 8:The staff were lovely & the housekeeping were on top of cleaning & were worried when we put up the DND sign because we didn't want to be disturbed after our 10 hour flight

Review 9:The main problem with this hotel is the unreasonable price you have to pay for a place which is actually a very cheap hostel (with the mainland standards). Moreover, the compulsory $20.94 service charge per night simply doesn't make sense considering the condition of this place. Luckily we were able to leave after one night! Very old and dated bathroom and kitchenette. They also need to be cleaner. No tea/coffee making facilities, and no tea bags, coffee, sugar, etc. Overall, definitely not worth the price tag!

Review 10:Friendly staff, spacious rooms, good location, nice view, and good WiFi.

Review 11:Waiting long time for helpto check in, room was buss up dings in walls.pool time was late for open..10am..is too late.. and parking sucked. Got rained on because parking was too far and too expensive. I feel if the parking under structure is for employees, that's wrong.

Review 12:They were available

Review 13:outside exit from room, similar to motel,

Review 14:no ice bins, sure was in refer in room, but had to put in water in inc trays, then wait to 12 hours till frozen

Review 15:The kitchen was tired but we accepted that as part of the great value for money for the room

Review 16:The location and fabulous view overlooking De Russey Park and out to the ocean. An easy walk to central Waikiki and the beaches. Helpful staff

Review 17:Overhearing between rooms is terrible, got woken by arguing couple. Door to bathroom wouldn't close properly. The wardrobe was inside the bathroom, so not usable due to dampness. Was aware that the standard would be low, but it was super run down, also there were ants in the bathroom.

Review 18:Pool area was pretty boring. Not a resort where u could hang out all day. Just a motel.

Review 19:Super friendly staff. Always willing to help and answer my millions of insane questions Good value for its location.

Review 20:Very noisy on that corner with sirens and traffic. Charges for amenities - not cool! No restaurant or bar in the building.

Review 21:Staff were very polite and helpful. It was excellent if you were just in transit and needed place for a night or two but not for a week.

Review 22:Staff was unprofessional, uncooperative and thought my husband was a liar. I just had surgey and the placed us on the 8th floor, last room at the end of the hall

Review 23:To be honest there wasn't much to look at.

Review 24:Parking, it's around $30 to park at the hotel, parking was sold out, had to pay $30 at a hotel 3 blocks away. This should be available information at the time of booking.

Review 25:Pricing is not reasonable for this ugly hotel. Everytime I used thetoilet & shower. I felt like the ceiling will fall off. Andstaff are rude

Review 26:What a ripped off. We extend just for 1 night & they charged me for$330.00, just for 1 Night. Unbelievable. We should just stay in one ofthe 5 star hotel in honolulu & this is a big lesson for me. Ithought I could economize by choosing this hotel. Overall is so dirty& old. Staff has no good customer service. Rude!!!

Review 27:The elevator had scratch big one, balcony had no chair to relax in. You have to turn on air-conditioned yourself with remote that was sent aLloyd the way on the other side of the room and it came with no instructions. phone were really old and bed were stiff. I ask for 1 bed room they gave me 3 bed room without even looking and lied to my face. Shower did not drain fast enough.

Review 28:One front desk employees was really nice and great costumers services. Need more water point

Review 29:Asked if I could use the phone just after I checked out as the shuttle was running late was told that there was no way they could make the an outside local call. Check out at 10 so I just should have held on to my key till last minute. My suggestion would be for the staff to be a little bit more helpful. Bad customer service

Review 30:The kitchen was a bonus so you could do your own breakfast and make a lunch great for the budget wise.

Review 31:Alittle update of the kitchen area. Tea/coffee making facilities would be ideal in rooms to have one whenever needed. lobby area and elevators needs some work.

Review 32:Location is great, walking distance to a lot of places.

Review 33:Facilities were very old and run down. The air conditioner sounded like a Mac truck in your room. As we were not in the room that much it didn 't matter the state of the room.

Review 34:Position was great. Room was clean. We were upgraded to a larger room, which was appreciated.

Review 35:Didn't like that they have add ons to the pre paid accommodation . These should have been in the tariffs , or at least shown in the viewing of the rates of the rooms on Booking.com. Had a kitchenette room for a night and they supplied no tea bags, no coffee, no sugar , no salt or peoper sachets. Who buys a whole packet of tea bags, coffee, sugar etc for one night!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not acceptable Ambassador Hotel.

Review 36:Liked the locality - handy to everything.

Review 37:Wish we couldve stayed longer.

Review 38:The staff was very polite. Loved the fact that they have a large parking lot. We felt very safe knowing the property and parking is verry well secured.

Review 39:no coffee or quick breakfast

Review 40:the people that worked here were courteous helpfull and always proffesional they created an atmosphere of kindness that truly was welcoming

Review 41:Shower in bathroom wasnt hanging properly.

Review 42:The friendliness of all the staff, cleaners, etc. They couldnt do enough for you. The lifts were very fast and always there for you. Free water bottle and water every day.

Review 43:Cocaroaches, sweety beds, flat sheets on beds were used in place of fitting sheets. Had to drain water bucket from under ac unit everyday, shower was small.

Review 44:The staff were excellent & very friendly. To whom it may concern my name is Martha Janice Ivory. Regards Janice Ivory ps: I traveled with Gaelene & stayed at the Ambassador Hotel with Gaelene, she did not have an email address so the hotel used mine.

Review 45:the shower backed up. The price could have been a little better considering that this is an older hotel and the decor of the room needs an upgrade.

Review 46:I liked that it had a full kitchen

Review 47:Room seemed dusty and not prepped for arrival. Body washing supplies smelled old. Questioned cleanliness. The business center printer didn't print correctly when promotes multiple times

Review 48:Great view! Close to other shops and activities. Complimentary water is a great idea.

Review 49:Comming from Japan where the staff are always ready to help you with a great smile, here I felt the contact agressive and very cold. The hotel looks quite old. The lifts are not working properly:shaking, nit always stoping at your floor and get stuck in between floors for ~15 sec without reason (happenned to me twice over a week long stay).

Review 50:I liked just the location of the hotel. Only 10 min by foot from the main shopping/food courts of waikiki. And only 15 min by foot from the convention center.

Review 51:The hotel has seen its better days. The plumbing needs to be fixed as the water from the bathroom made its way into the kitchen. The room opposite was flooded and the water had flowed into the carpet outside.

Review 52:The location. Safe in the room.

Review 53:We should be allowed to change to a smaller room as we do not need such a big room with extra bed.

Review 54:Comfortable, good and clean facilities, and easy access to beach, shopping and bus routes. Value for money

Review 55:The air conditioning was loud, didn't really keep the rooms cool, and the beds were very lumpy.

Review 56:The location of the hotel was great as it was close to many amenities.

Review 57:The elevators were rather slow.

Review 58:Could not beat the location. Close enough to the main strip of Waikiki, but away from that hustle bustle. Very close to the freeway so great if you have a hire car. I also liked that they handed reusable fold-up water carriers instead of plastic water bottles and had a filtered water station and ice machine.

Review 59:the room is very poor. The carpet smells. The refrigerator has left over food. Probably from the last guest before me. I paid a lot for a motel amenities. Disappointed!

Review 60:Friendly staff.

Review 61:Property is not represented fairly in pictures on the website. Very poor facilities. Roaches in the room and we changed rooms. The shower head was damaged and I had to hold it up to even shower. Very few amenities of a normal hotel, like a coffee pot and coffee?

Review 62:it was a place to sleep.

Review 63:I wish we could have stayed longer but they didn't have space for 5 (adding another guest) The elevators were a problem the whole time we were there. The stairs didn't go to the ground floor so you had to take the elevators.

Review 64:The staff was very friendly and helpful! They had laundry facilities on the premises. They had good internet. The kids enjoyed the pool (it was small but on a hot day you can't beat a dip in the pool)

Review 65:Tired decor Very noisy air conditioning units with buckets on balcony to collect the water from the units No balcony furniture

Review 66:Great friendly staff Good location Full kitchen

Review 67:No bad experience so far. Great bang for your buck.

Review 68:I travel to Oahu twice a year for a 1-2 day stay. I've stayed at other Hotels between $100-$10030 a night price range. This is the best thus far. Trust me, spend the extra few dollars for parking. It is well worth it. Some other hotels are not as comfortable or clean, this one is. Ir's not brand new or anything, but cleaner than others in this price range. I will continue to use Ambassador Waikiki for my short stays. Also, this has a full kitchenette, some only have a fridge and no microwave.

Review 69:They lied about how much the fees would be at check in and didn't offer parking or tell us about the free time with the bikes.

Review 70:Pool was clean, maid staff was nice.

Review 71:Extra beds in the living areas sunk in so much it was hard to sit and sleep. It was my turn to check in and the staff made me wait really long for no reason other than taking to each others. As she was checking me in some elderly lady asked her if this was check in and she snapped at her very rudely anf told her she needs to wait her turn. Pool is small.

Review 72:Walking distance to beaches an d shopping areas.

Review 73:That I booked 3 rooms in 3 names and when most of the party showed up they would only allow us the check into 2 rooms because one person that one of rooms was reserved for was delayed arriving so had to get rollaways added to the other two rooms so everyone had a bed to sleep in!

Review 74:Friendly staff, location and water station with the containers

Review 75:1) small TV 2) dirty curtains with stains/holes 3) very dirty/old shower and moldy....had to wear flip flops to shower, no way was i touching that shower floor 4) bathroom vents very dirty, blowing dust balls everywhere 5) shower curtain dirty 6) carpets need to be shampooed and steam cleaned 7) shower faucet needs to be replaced

Review 76:1) A/C in the room!!! 2) 3 twin beds were nice 3) room had a mini fridge which was nice to have 4) decently cleaned 5) pretty comfortable beds

Review 77:more helpful with local travel to Pearl harbor, you should have a courtesy ride a few times a day for your visit. Not just to see the Pearl harbor museum.

Review 78:good location, pleasant room. we didn't spend a lot of time in the room, we were out most of the day and evening.

Review 79:Everything was really old and looked really dull. Their Landry room only has three washing machines and they were never available.

Review 80:Great price for a hotel in Waikiki to accommodate your whole family. The facilities are very old just like most of other hotels in the Waikiki area, but at least everything is clean. An ideal place for your family with tight budget.

Review 81:The addition of a $20 service fee to my bill seems to be a ripoff as I reserved the room and later found this charge added on after I arrived. Double beds are a thing of the past. The carpeting appeared to be leftovers from captain Cooks. The furniture was old and tired.

Review 82:next to nothing

Review 83:Practically Nothing

Review 84:Location,comfort of the room, Liberal supply of clean drinking water and portable water Bottles Friendly and helful staff member team.

Review 85:Quality of Toileteries like soap, shampoo is very bad, shower not good. Overall bathroom is not good.

Review 86:Bed very comfortable Location is good Room is spacious My requests for top floor and early check-in were met

Review 87:Kitchen area very old felt unclean fridge rusty did not use Notified hotel three adults travelling seperate beds wanted but ended up wit portable uncomfortable for one of our group and made room crowded for all would not stay again

Review 88:Good location

Review 89:somehow my medicine that I put in my cosmetic bag is gone .. That's confusing me .. Just that thing is gone the rest is not ..I put in the tissues n plastic but I'm wondering how come someone going through my cosmetic bag? N just took or Throw that thing away. ?? I mean it's in my bag .. Lol

Review 90:the location is not bad ..just 10'mins walk to the beach n shopping centre Some of the staffs are nice n helped me while I'm checking out n need to use the business centre..

Review 91:The water in the shower was not dreaning properly and the housekeeping was not always cleaning the room, I even went to reception to let them know and still nobody came.

Review 92:Pleople were friendly, the view was perfect And the location awesome

Review 93:It's a little on the Spartan side but our only complaint is that an electric jug is provided but no cups or mugs or tea or coffee or milk.

Review 94:Good location, reasonable price, fairly spacious room

Review 95:Noisy guests from China :-(. Same package for Pool, and other for 20 USD per day. This package is nowhere mentioned and it is not possible to accept.

Review 96:THEY SOLD MY ROOM, THE ROOM THEY GAVE ME WAS A "SUITE" BUT DID NOT ACCOMODATE MY REQUEST FOR A KING SIZE BED. BATHROOM WAS NOT CLEAN, SHNOWER HEAD IS OLD AND WATER SHOOT SOUT SPORADICALLY

Review 97:STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY

Review 98:The internet was poor and not secured properly. Parking is an additional $25/day. Across the street it's $7. The business center is so out of date that anything you do is probably compromised. Here's a hint, Microsoft stopped supporting Windows xp almost a year ago. And the pool closes at 7 so if you leave the hotel during the day, by the time you get back you can't use it. They don't vacuum the rooms during your stay and I'm not sure they do after either.

Review 99:The ambassador hotel is one of the first hotels you see once you get into the Waikiki area. It is only a short walk to the breach and all of the other attractions in downtown Waikiki.

Review 100:clean rooms, efficient friendly staff, shop for basics next door, affordable price, pool area was nice, they provided a kettle as requested in our booking, close enough to main shops etc

Review 101:"Clean" towels had hair balls, bed covers had stain from previous tenant and was charged $20 per night for amenities we had no use for like pool and wifi.

Review 102:Refrigerator, microwave, laundry room and close proximity to decent eating establishments.

Review 103:The air con is very noisy and hard to control temp. "Self catering facilities" include a stove that does not work, 2 cups, 2 small plates a microwave and a kettle.

Review 104:Friendly and helpfull staff. Good view from the higher rooms. Close walking distance to the beach, shops and bus stops.

Review 105:Shower didn't drain very well and the pool opening hours are very short (10am - 7pm)

Review 106:We were able to get a room with 3 single beds, which can be hard to find! Convenient location to the top end of Waikiki and about 15 mins walk from Ala Moana centre. Pretty basic but very clean room

Review 107:Shower head kinda broken. Could of used more dishes and cups.

Review 108:The location was great, could walk to beach, restaurants and shopping. Room was clean, kitchen was handy for budget conscious folks but was a great deal. Upgraded for free to partial ocean view.

Review 109:The room looks nothing like it did online. There is mold in my room. Room #707 if you don't believe me. And everything about the building and room gave me that "in the ghetto " feeling. It was disgusting

Review 110:The best part of this hotel was the distance from it to all the activities in the area.

Review 111:The rooms are a bit stark and dated but clean. Big rooms and should have a comfortable couch and lounge chair but all we found was a small table and two hard chairs.

Review 112:The staff, particularly a gal named Emelyn, are obviously pros. They are all amicable and helpful. The people are the strong suit of this property. It is located to be a short walk from the beach and all the high end shopping. Actually we would stay here again.

Review 113:Ambassador hotel had all i needed for my stay in Honolulu. I stayed in Honolulu as transfer city to other island. So i appreciated Close distance to the Waikiki beach, close public transport (bus) to Airport, Room being clean and safe. I stayed on 18th floor and view was amazying but I do not recommend that to person with fear of heights.

Review 114:No bad experience.

Review 115:We enjoyed having the large fridge in the kitchen. Also enjoyed the location; very very convenient without being right in the center of Waikiki!

Review 116:One night of bad neighbors.

Review 117:All of the staff was exceedingly friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Every one of them had a "good morning" or like greeting when passing by. They all seemed very happy

Review 118:it is not 150/a night....because you pay $20 extra weather you use it or not...it actually with TAX, the total is 224/a night. -this is good value of you have family of more than 4....but if you are couple...you can find same price near already the wakiki beach.

Review 119:Location is easy with bus stop

Review 120:No bad experience; just that the bathroom was small, no counter space whatsoever. Small boxy shower but the showerhead was alright.

Review 121:Location is great! Not directly on the main street in Waikiki, but very close. Also, the room was quite spacious. Liked having a fridge, loved the water dispenser system downstairs!

Review 122:We had people in our group which was there first experience in Hawaii. There main conplaint was the Hotel. We know it wasnt 5 star hotel but command courtesy from staff would go along way.

Review 123:Just like to say thank you to Malia and Tommy for there help organising transport for our group.

Review 124:We had no cutlery or dinner service to eat with. As a elderly couple we found this hard, we had to borrow from other rooms.

Review 125:The location was good. Same floor as all our family so we could share the facilities amongst us all as all the rooms were inconsistent.

Review 126:It appears I am being charged for two rooms under the NOR1 once at $34 and again at $39 for the same day. These two prices were quoted on the room upgrades for two different rooms. Please address this issue.

Review 127:Hawaii was great as usual.

Review 128:The air conditioner in the room was like something from the 1970s. It was so loud and rattly and on the lowest setting was blowing so hard that we had to turn it off and sleep with the door open which meant really loud traffic noise and sirens most of the night. Relieved we only had 1 night here.

Review 129:Decent hotel with good amenities and good location

Review 130:We only stayed a night as we were going to stay at our time share, so we were looking for something inexpensive which the rate seemed until you were hit with a resort fee and a car parking fee,

Review 131:The price was not good.It should have a lower price, specially with a shower head that malfunctioned and inconsistent water temperature.

Review 132:The staff in the front counter was the best.

Review 133:Resort tax of $20/ room is excessive. While this hotel is safe and comfortable, it is by no means a resort. It has a motel like feel with dimly lit hallways and decor. Definitely for the budget minded

Review 134:Full kitchens available, wide variety of bed choices. Large balconies (with no furniture, however)

Review 135:It's not a 5 star hotel but it was wonderful! I love the staff. Everybody working there were really kind, happy and helpful. The location was great. It was accessible to every place I wanted to go but not in the middle of Waikiki. I would stay at The Ambassador again.

Review 136:Aircon was noisy, carpet was smelly, charged extra USD 20.00 per day for wifi, cold water...bicycle (limit 1 -2 hours a day, but we never used).

Review 137:Balcony could view the river and a bit ocean.

Review 138:When booking our stay, the price was very attractive but upon checkout we had lots of extra fees tacked on. I could have stayed at a bigger, better hotel for the same price.

Review 139:Most of the staff was very pleasant and accomadating.

Review 140:Lifts had mind of there own air con was rusty did not use kitchen in poor condition

Review 141:Staff were excellent pool gym ok Internet good although had to pay extra
