Reviews for Harbor View Inn
Review 1:The hotel does not issue an invoice or receipt. What i got is a reservation confirmation. When i asked for it, the desk clerk/manager didn't give me one. The IRS might view that differently.
Review 2:I like the rates and proximity to restaurants and the center of the city.
Review 3:I tried called several times the day of Christmas to confirm our late check in but no one answered. The front desk agent admitted that she wasn't answering the phone on Christmas when we arrived. She had been there since 6am and was beside herself to have to answer the phone at all. There was no comfortor or blankets on the bed or to add to the bed. When we tried to call the front desk, we were not able to, due to the dead phone. When we walked to the front desk and asked for a comfortor she tried to explain that a bottom sheet, a thin fleece and a top sheet was all that was provided and was the norm. Thankfully she delivered one more substantial blanket and thankfully we had two extra blankets in our vehicle to add to the bed. The window was broken and would not close, so we listened to loud traffic drive by all night and in the morning. It's an ocean view, but due to the stains on the Windows, you could barely see through them.
Review 4:Proximity to Ocean for the price and availability on Christmas Day.
Review 5:Things were a tad worn but certainly serviceable. The bathroom floor was a vinyl that was actually run up the wall to create the baseboard. Not necessarily bad, just odd.
Review 6:Great value. Many very nice touches like good coffee and nice soaps in the room.
Review 7:No real views of the harbor. But it was close enough that i could hear a foghorn blowing the entire night.
Review 8:The bed was nice and the staff were friendly. Restaurants nearby, try the fish tacos at the brewery.
Review 9:The walls were so thin you could not sleep with the noice from theharbour - constant beeping. Wi-Fi did not work at all. The receptionistwas saying that she just worked there and the manager was not available.I asked her for the managers phone number, but when I tried to callhim/her the same receptionist answerd the phone. I also left awritten complaint to the manager, but the receptionist wripped it. Iwould not stay here again!
Review 10:Clean place
Review 11:Towels were really dirty, it was like the never changed them. I won't not recommend this place. The room does not look like the pictures in booking and it was very dirty and noisy. Avoid if possible.
Review 12:Nothing
Review 13:No harbor view as noted, over looked a parking lot. The towels and sheets had stains on them. The heater did not work. The curtains did not close.
Review 14:Nice location
Review 15:Linen seemed old and in need of a refresh - tv was an old tube and not a flat screen.
Review 16:Across the street from the harbor was a nice location for a morning walk
Review 17:I was charged $30 more dollars on my credit card and I am still trying to figure out why.
Review 18:the hotel was nice and close to the beach. Clean room and the breakfast was good too. Staff was friendly.
Review 19:Walls are paper thin - could hear TV in next room. Reception changed our room so it was further away
Review 20:View would have been nice had the fog not rolled in. Walking distance from harbour and a restaurants
Review 21:N/A
Review 22:The comfy little bench seat under the large picture window that not only gave us a beautiful ocean view but opened so we could listen and enjoy the fresh ocean breeze. Breakfast had a large variety to choose from, love that!
Review 23:It is at the level of a motel, but the prices are that of luxury hotel. Oceano down the street is only about $60 more a night but unbelievable difference in quality and services
Review 24:It is a good location
Review 25:Shower did not work, did not get a refund, pleasant girl at reception but could only give me a mail address to complain to.Got no sleep as very noisy beside the highway and fog horn went off every minute. No air-con ,very shabby , not very clean bad value for the money.
Review 26:Convenient to the shore
Review 27:Hated that I did not know before I checked in that a fog horn goes off every 10 seconds. Pretty expensive for the dated room we stayed in. Shower water pressure was low. Torn chair upholstery needs to be replaced.
Review 28:Great location. Room was relatively clean.
Review 29:Coffee was bitter but I can buy my own coffee. Not important to me. Parking lot a little tight.
Review 30:The staff were very friendly and helpful. For the value, the place is great. The room was cozy, I loved the bay window and the view of the water was nice. Wish I planned to stay longer.
Review 31:The Inn is located near a busy road which is constantly in use even in the evenings. The Inn does not have double glazing so even with the window closed the noise of the traffic is quite unpleasant not to mention the foghorn in the nearby harbour that goes off every 10 seconds.
Review 32:Overall the room was nice, comfortable with everything we needed.
Review 33:the bed frame was a little too big for the bed.The foot end was hanging out and it cut my leg on it
Review 34:I adore the large Windows, the amazing bathroom, and comfy bed.
Review 35:Continental breakfast was in the tiny lobby so you had to grab and go. We ended up going to the cafe next door.
Review 36:Rooms were very clean, beds comfortable, and ample parking.
Review 37:Noise from highway 1, especially motorcycles was annoying. Was an unually warm today No air conditioning in room. Granted on the coast you don't expect warm conditions but only a fan, (though very efficient) was available for cooling.
Review 38:Good location.
Review 39:We had to switch rooms because the first room was not clean: there werestains on the sheets and bedspread; the floor made your feet dirty ifyou walked around barefoot; and, the baseboards were covered in dirt anddust. The second room we were in, though larger, was not much cleaner. And, the bed was extremely uncomfortable: It sloped downward toward theheadboard, and the mattress felt like we were sleeping on lumpy pillows. For the price (approx. $460 for 2 nights), I definitely will not bestaying again.
Review 40:The location was good - close to the beach, shopping, food, etc. Thestaff was helpful with recomme ndations for restaurants to try.
Review 41:Horrible, disgusting black mold , towels with stains and holes, holes inthe wall and bathroom door, horrible rude staff, completelymisrepresented online! Found out from the maid that only 7 out of the 17rooms have been renovated... And of course , the pics online are of arenovated one! Oh ... btw: The " ocean view" is a restaurant, sasphalt parking lot ... If you squint, you can see the water way in thebackground! Horrible waste of money !!!
Review 42:Didn't like anything about this hotel .
Review 43:Road noise was excessive. Also every 12 seconds a loud beeping noise could be heard. I guess it is what is is, a last minute booking, you get what's left. Would not stay again if at all possible.
Review 44:Let me think on this one.......
Review 45:Small room, uncomfortable bed, although if I had stayed a second night I know for sure the staff would have accommodated me by placing me in another room! There was moisture in the carpet--although somewhat understandable since it's near the coast--still did not care for the feel of damp carpet on my bare feet, so pack flip flops/sandals to walk in while in the room.
Review 46:Location made it convenient for walking to harbor, shops, restaurants in the area, and a tucked away wine tasting room/space on Harvard Ave, and the wine was pretty good!
Review 47:Not much of a view. Across street from marina. Limited ocean view. A little road noise. Needs a bit of updating but very clean. Not a first choice for a romantic weekend but fine for a solo going up or down the coast.
Review 48:The bed was comfortable. Wifi worked. TV had many channels. Parking is convenient. Close to many good restaurants at the marina and back in Half Moon Bay.
Review 49:The bed corner posts stick out and I and my partner both grazed our shins walking past. Also there was a constant ringing / alarm noise from below which together with the uncomfortable bed made for a very poor nights sleep. The traffic noise is also excessive and the lack of air conditioning means you have to have the windows open! A very poor nights sleep followed by appealing "breakfast".
Review 50:The location is good in as far as its a short stroll from restaurants. But it is right by the highway. The room decor itself was tasteful but the bed a prime example of style over functionality.
Review 51:Road noise is deafening. Bed is adequate. Not very comfortable and squeaky.
Review 52:The view of the harbor is great. Multiple choices of cuisine in the harbor area makes dining a pleasure.
Review 53:My friend went to open the window and the screen flew in and hit her, slicing her nose. Curtains were filthy - looked like someone blew their nose on he sheers.
Review 54:The shower head was spraying the bathroom! The shower head came off when I tried to redirect it to the bath. Faucet dripped. We could hear the neighbors through the walls. Overall rundown room. Too much money for the room with these issues. We didn't eat breakfast once we we told what the "breakfast" was.
Review 55:Going places. The staff was fine.
Review 56:There was a strong odor of cleaning supplies - maybe not bad? Opening the windows helped air the room.
Review 57:The staff was really professional and friendly. Every room has a bay window with a seat and a great view of Pillar Pt Harbor. There are a variety of restaurants in walking distance. Our room was clean and comfortable.
Review 58:It's a little dated, but, at $100/night, relative to other hotel rates in the area, it was a good value.
Review 59:It offered what I expected from a standard motel. Nothing fancy, but it was clean and relatively quiet. And considering the rates of the neighboring luxury hotels, it was affordable. The lady at the front desk was friendly and allowed me to check in an hour earlier than check in time.
Review 60:Location is perfect without having to pay the higher prices at hotels in marina, which is just right across the street. The cute little coffee shop next door is great too!
Review 61:The breakfast was cello wrapped danish and a cello wrapped biscuits. Cleanliness left a lot to be desired.
Review 62:The location was good. The bathroom was large and had a nice shower.
Review 63:Rooms needed updating especially the linen and towels. Rooms clean and bed was very comfortable. Traffic noise and also fog horn but view very good. Staff very helpful breakfast adequate although was very crowded.
Review 64:Great location as chose to stay just outside of San Francisco. Easy access into the city using the BART.
Review 65:the rooms are facing the harbor ACROSS a busy intersection on Route 1, and with no noise insulation this is not a place for a light sleeper... no real view, really
Review 66:The website was misrepresentation of actual location. Bed linens were stained. It was a slight step above Motel 6. Not ON the water as they perceive.
Review 67:Despite my efforts at the time of booking, there seemed to be issues about a form in order for my company to pay for my room. Rather than help me resolve it ahead of time and let me know there was an issue, which would have been faster and caused less stress for their guest, they didn't tell me about it until I arrived. The issue wasn't resolved until the day before I left. My room was not cleaned until the third day I was there (no bed made, no garbage emptied, no bath cleaned and no new towels or coffee) and I had to ask for it to be cleaned. When they serviced the room, they didn't vacuum the carpet (this is at the beach). Breakfast offerings were minimal: coffee and tea (great!), cereal, yogurt, fruit and pre-packaged pastries, all of which had to be taken to go or to your room on a tray. The paint is chipping in the room, the plastic holder which holds the iron and ironing board in the closet is falling off the wall. I stay in hotels at least twice a month all over the west coast of the US. This was a very disappointing hotel experience and certainly not what I would consider good value for my money.
Review 68:I always stay in Half Moon Bay when I come to San Francisco, but the first time I stayed in this motel. The location was convenient to get to where I was working in the Sunset District of the city. My room had a great view of the ocean, the Pillar Point harbor (and shops) and I could see the ocean and hear the fog horn (love this). Staff were polite.
Review 69:A decent room adjacent to a noisy highway. Mid level price not worth so-called "view" of water. My thought is to pay $75 more for a great room on the water side of hwy or $50 less for a decent room anywhere in town.
Review 70:Check in and room cleanliness.
Review 71:I didn't like the traffic noise at times.
Review 72:The location of the hotel was close to the beach and the staff was ever so friendly and helpful. I also liked that it was a small hotel without the noise of travelers leaving early in the morning.
Review 73:The beacon of the harbor is very noisy and we needed to sleep with earplugs. If we had known that before we would not have chosen this place.
Review 74:Friendly and helpful staff
Review 75:We could not get into Oceano Hotel across the street for a wedding so we stayed here. We paid $10 less a night than an Oceano room for this small room with a hard and squeaky mattress while our friends enjoyed huge suites with a balcony, ocean view and big fireplaces plus the advantage of a real hotel. We sucked it up for one night but had we stayed another we would have checked out early.
Review 76:The lady who checked us in was very kind and helpful. The room was very clean and was up to date.
Review 77:an air horn goes off every 8 seconds all night that you can hear
Review 78:Great location close to restaurants upgraded rooms with fireplace and heated floors amazing shower
Review 79:The photos on booking.com do not match the rooms. Not sure if I just had an older room, but my toilet was sloped/slanted, wallpaper was old and splashed with stains, remote control did not turn tv on, only the satellite and volume button did not work. The photos show a sleek, modern room and it would be more honest if all rooms were what photos indicate. Expensive room for the quality but I understand location is everything and the staff makes up for the old decor.
Review 80:Loved the friendly smiles, bay window, location ideally across from harbor so I could walk everywhere. Staff did excellent job keeping room nice and fresh each day. A cozy place.
Review 81:Nothing good to report about this place. Don't be fooled by the many nice photos of modern rooms. Possible asbestos "cottage cheese" ceiling in our room. Manager said she didn't know what asbestos is so I couldn't find out for sure. Window looked right out onto busy street--you could practically touch the cars speeding by. Broken window mechanism, had to sleep with window open all night! Broken telephone, which was never fixed despite several calls to the front desk. Moldy or dirty old wallpaper and bathroom. The room was generally old, dirty and not working. Hopefully there were no bedbugs! I asked to be moved to another room, to which the reply from the manager was that would cost us extra. When Booking.com looked into this problem, hotel manager said we never let them know of any problems during our stay--totally dishonest! AWFUL EXPERIENCE!
Review 82:Nothing good to report--see what was wrong.
Review 83:Loved the remodeled rooms - very modern yet warm. Walking distance to the harbor and Pier with all the great shops and restaurants. Staff extremely friendly and accomodating!
Review 84:Continental breakfast was very limited.
Review 85:Gas fireplace was nice. I appreciated that the staff, Bianca took the time to explain my options of rooms there. Bed was comfy.
Review 86:There was nowhere to sit outside. Not one single chair and we asked for one, no chairs.
Review 87:I liked that you could walk across the street to all kind of restaurant . There is a Japanese restaurant very good next door to motel.
Review 88:the bed made horrible noises when getting In or out of the bed.
Review 89:Loved The room layout and the window seating. It was recently remodeled so the interior paint and bathroom look new. The room felt clean.
Review 90:The staff was super friendly and helpful with questions and entertainment suggestions. The bed was comfortable and room was very clean. I Loved the state of the art shower. I didn't want to get out!!!
Review 91:We were walking distance from several restaurants on the harbor and an Japanese buffet was across the street. Also a convenience store was a stone throw away. We always go for dinner and entertainment at Sam, but it was closed for maintenance. The young lady at the reception desk was very helpful in finding another restaurant with live entertainment on a Thursday night.
Review 92:Bed was uncomfortable. Had hoped for better view of water. Dated facility. Only cooling was to keep windows open which then was to noisy from traffic and people walking by.
Review 93:This place looks nothing like the photos online. If your looking forcheap, you found it. But seriously, you can't even provide a flatscreen tv? Come on, you can't even buy boob-tubes any more, whywould you put them in a hotel?
Review 94:Worn down room. Stained chairs, old bed, old small tube TV. Thin sheets and no extra blankets in room. If I was there for two nights, I would have looked for another place.
Review 95:Nice, friendly, helpful staff. Location was decent though not quite a view of the harbor. Free parking, shops and restaurants nearby.
Review 96:Bed is a bit hard, though flat. Breakfast is pre-wrapped muffins. Much better to just go to the cafe/bakery next door and pay for a good breakfast.
Review 97:Location was easy, late check in not a problem.
Review 98:Inefficient heating system; supposed to be radiant heat in the floor; however the floor was covered with wall-wall carpet and it never got warm in our room.We were given a very noisy space heater, which indicated to us that the radiant heating system obviously had problems. The switches for the heating light in the bathroom and the fan were broken. The shower door kept getting off track and the shower dripped all night. We put towels under the shower head and closed the bathroom door so we couldn't hear it.
Review 99:clean room, good location
Review 100:More than we expected! The staff was very helpful and friendly when we had questions. The hotel room was very clean and it look like it was recently remodeled. For the price we paid, we got a real deal!
Review 101:I could hear traffic all night. I didn't receive wake up call requested .Almost missed the fishing trip. I drove 2 hrs toto get to.Bed was uncomfortable. TV is very small. Coffee maker did not work. .
Review 102:The location close to harbor. .
Review 103:The door was locked with a key, not a card. Made me uncomfortable and really nervous I would lose the key.
Review 104:The bay window in the room opened up and I could hear and smell the ocean late at night after all the cars had stopped driving down the road.
Review 105:I was so pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the room was. It was clean and comfortable and in a great location. We were able to walk across the street to the harbor and visit the pier and restaraunts. The staff was great! So pleased!
Review 106:Seemed like they just shampooed the room and the seats of the chairswere damp and floor was wet. Our socks looked nasty after a few hours.Only complaint I have.
Review 107:The location pricing marina (our hostess) excellent
Review 108:Over priced for what it was The room was large and nicely renovated, however the towels and sheets were filthy, stained and discoloured. Breakfast was very simple
Review 109:Location was easy to find and parking was easy and close to room
Review 110:The noise level on the highway and the fog horn. Unfortunately, we left the front windows open a bit. Next time, we'll shut them.
Review 111:The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The room had a lot of space, which was great. The location of the motel was convenient.
Review 112:Towels and bedding were grey not white. Tv was 1980s. Noise from road and constant bleeping of lighthouse.
Review 113:Near to San francisco airport without being in San fran.
Review 114:Thin walls, so at night you might hear your neighbours. No AC, but opening the windows helped somehow.
Review 115:Friendly staff, nearby restaurants and nearby beaches.
Review 116:1 the bathroom was so small you could only have one person at a time in there. 2 bed was very hard and noisy 3 the towels had black stains and were unraveling on the ends 4 the veiw was of the highway not the harbor 5 the continental breakfast was barely juice, coffee, yogurt, and roll. and the lobby is so small you have to take it back to your room. 6 the room was tiled not carpeted.
Review 117:the shower head was very good the girl at the desk was very friendly and helpful.
Review 118:Too expensive.we wouldn't stay here again as the close by beach wasn't great.there were nicer beaches around.we wished we had stayed closer to them.no character to the hotel.it was like a motel.no other guests to chat to.
Review 119:It had a lobby breakfast & the reception lady was sweet.
Review 120:the t.v was not up to date, this room needed a remodel for sure. The breakfast was lack luster for sure, had I known it was going to be cereal and fruit I would have passed, and gone out some where.the floor heater unit was scarry.shortcurcuit type situation.and the clerk knew nothing of the unit.
Review 121:the location was tucked away from traffic, the room was cozy.
Review 122:The room was on the first floor adjacent to a very busy highway. Thereis no air conditioning so the windows have to be kept open as the roomwas very hot. Traffic noise all night to 2am. People walking past theopen windows 4 feet away. The windows cranked open and then we had totake the screen off to repair the window crank to close the windows. Thebathroom was not cleaned well, the towels and linens were dingy. Thewere 2 hangers in the room. The continental breakfast selection was acellophane wrapped pastry and an apple in the 6x6ft. Lobby. We werescheduled to stay 3 nights, but only stayed 1. In the morning when wetold the manager/or perhaps owner our concerns, she said she couldnot control the weather or the traffic and that they never needed airconditioning. We explained the window disrepair, which she admittedknowing about, but obviously did not care about. When we requested arefund of the other 2 nights, she told us that Booking.com had alreadypaid her and that she would not give us a refund and neither wouldBooking.com. We left less than impressed with her attitude/serviceand the conditions of the hotel. We would not recommend this hotel.
Review 123:Location in Half Moon Bay is Beautiful
Review 124:Fantastic staff, lovely room, amazing location.. Breakfast was a muffin and coffee, but honestly couldn't complain. You shouldn't be disappointed..
Review 125:Marina was excellent. Very nice and very accommodating, I needed a fan for the room and she went out of her way to find it for me along with any other small thing I needed. Thank you again.
Review 126:The fact that they won't refund a double charge. Emailed them several times, no significant response.
Review 127:It is a nice place to stay, clean, nice atmosphere.
Review 128:The hot water broke and the staff refused to compensate us. Not every room in this hotel has been redone, ours was very dingy. We will not be staying here again.
Review 129:I was staying for 2 nights and found on the second morning that there was no hot water which kind of ruined the excellent stay. All in all, I would recommend this motel to anyone looking for a beautiful view at a bargain price.
Review 130:The Inn is a long drive from the airport and from the city. However, a great place to stay for a holiday by the sea with the family.
Review 131:The girls at reception were really nice and friendly. The room smelt musky at first and then we thought it could of been because it was close to the sea and fishing boats. The girls warned us of the fishing boat horns which sound at all hours, but it did not bother us.
Review 132:Dont rely on the breakfast as is it just some pastries and yogurt from the local store.
Review 133:Its a good value place with nice decent everything (room, staff...). The location is good as you can ealk to many restaurants and a short drive to many beaches
Review 134:The bed, pillows, sheets and towels were old and worn out needed to be updated badly. No air or fans the windows have to be open allowing the road noise to keep you awake.
Review 135:You can see the harbor from your room
