Reviews for LSI Resorts at Ala Moana
Review 1:We would like thank Mikela for setting the tone for our stay at the Ala Moana hotel. Mikela is friendly ,informative and a pleasure to work with. Yes we can't wait to stay again . Mahalo Nui . Nick & Kuuipo Perry
Review 2:First, hotel does not accept responsibility for condition, maintenance, etc. of this room because of ownership by LSI. 2.Because of this, to arrange for maid service, I had to call a number in Las Vegas (hotel is in Honolulu) 3.The hotel said I did not have a reservation when I arrived because of poor communication between LSI and Ala Moana Hotel--after nearly an hour, someone discovered that reservation had "accidentally" been cancelled (this two days after having room charges appear on my credit card) 4. Each day, the room key "expired" so I had to go to front desk every time I returned to hotel to get a new key. 5. Maid service provided by LSI was not great--esp. in bathroom. One would expect toilet not to have hair and stains after cleaning. 6. The hotel is good and in previous visits to this hotel, everything was great. So I suggest to anyone planning to go to Ala Moana Hotel, deal directly with that hotel and avoid LSI like the plague. Luxury suite? HAHAHAHA..just a regular small room with a great view of the parking lot of Ala Moana Mall
Review 3:location--next to large mail with diverse shopping and eating opportunities and only about ten minutes to Waikiki
Review 4:were really happy with the room layout and the comfort of the beds and just generally were very pleasantly surprised. nice view towards the water as promised. pretty much just what we needed after a long day of travelling and perfect for our short 30 hour stopover. we like to walk and found the 20 minute walk into the centre of Waikiki easy.
Review 5:Location a bit away from the main tourist hub of Waikiki.
Review 6:All the amenities available. Perfect for shopping at the nearby mall and food court. Ideal for the Ala Moana Park and jogging.
Review 7:Room service was poor. We had no phone in the room. And Fixtures were broken.. The light shade looked like it had blood on it...
Review 8:It was a nice alternative location from right beside waikiki. Making it easoer to get out of town, visit other destinations
Review 9:Was disappointed there were no tea making facilities. There was a coffee maker but that didn,t work. We had to use our own tea bags and microwave the water to make tea. Staff couldn't help us much because it was privately owned which was a nuisance as we had to phone a toll free number to get any assistance. There was no WIFI in the room as promised. Also couldnt work the showers only had one temperature hot.
Review 10:Great location easy access to shops and bars .Clean room with great view from balcony
Review 11:i thought i paid for an ocean view which to me is looking straight out to the ocean but I only got partial ocean view - which Ive had every other time and I thought I paid the extra for a front room - there was no safe in the room
Review 12:Loved the free wifi.. ive stayed there many times and it meets my standards everytime - love the vicinity to the shops. Loved the Xmas tree - just beautiful
Review 13:Our frige had hard time closing, ice bucket kinda dull, dirty. Used a plastic trash bag in ice bucket to fill bucket with ice.
Review 14:Staying at Ala Moan Hotel, did not know we where staying on another company under Ala Moana Hotel. I love Ala Moana Hotel stayed couple times but I think the room need to be more tropical instead a mainland vibe. But love staying at Ala Moana Hotel, cause shopping center are walking distance. Service where great. Their where miner details that could have been approved. House keeping where great and helpful.
Review 15:On day 1, we reported burned out lightbulbs (bathroom) ... asked for help. End of a 3 night stay, still dark in the bathroom. That's crazy! No fan in bathroom. Also, we were on business - left by 7 am. Home at 3pm - room still not made up. Had to leave for maid service in late afternoon - again, crazy! Business travelers are out in early AM, then back in hotel room by 4 - getting ready for dinner. Where is housekeeping from 8am til 2pm?
Review 16:Quiet, with internet, in a convenient location.
Review 17:Nice and clean Hotel, shop and coffee shop inside the hotel, a big shopping mall right next to the hotel, just a few minutes of walking to the next beach and to Waikiki.
Review 18:Had trouble with the thermostat. It seemed to default to 72 which was a bit cold for us. Also, the telephone set off an alarm (siren not a ring tone) at 4 am Saturday, again at 5 and then 10 minutes later. We unplugged it.
Review 19:Housekeeping was better than our last visit. Location was great. Too bad the sushi restaurant died.
Review 20:We had a couple of issues such as room coffee not available one day (they made it up the next day), and delayed room clean-up (we were told the maid had a trouble with a key and could not get in the room for a long time.) Overall, though, we really enjoyed our stay.
Review 21:The hotel is simple but elegant, and easy to walk around and relax. The stores, including Starbucks, are conveniently located with attractive designs. I enjoyed the welcoming, comfortable atmosphere in the lobby. The hotel location is great, being close to the wonderful beaches and shopping places. The parking garage attendant(s) are very friendly and helpful.
Review 22:Since these batch of hotel rooms are actually privately owned condos, under the management of LSI, Ala Moana Hotel has noting to do with it, except for registration. They also notified us that if there is anything we need, it is not the hotel's business to take care of it. We have to call LSI, which is in LA, with a 3 hours time zone difference. Very bad management, low grade for the bathroom, caulking is grey or black color over the white caulking, showing age and dirty, they don't even supply liquid shower gel, only a thin piece of soap, which slide off the wire soap holder and broke.
Review 23:Location is the best, it is close to everything
Review 24:All of the hotels where I have stayed offer daily room cleaning. I had to call almost DAILY for this service. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Review 25:Great location. Walking distance to convention center.
Review 26:No place to eat in or around this hotel. No decent bar . Only Starbucks! Hotel staff mediocre at best. But they have plenty of business . The pool area is a joke!
Review 27:Very spacious and clean room. Clean towels. Close to the Convention Center.
Review 28:During 1 week stay, we had electric power failure twice and emergency alarm in the 4 am in the morning once. At least the hotel has to explain what activated the alarm. Room cleaning is after 3 pm every day. Staff is good, but not really friendly. They look tired and frustrated. It is a descent hotel
Review 29:I was very late to check in because I missed my flight, I called reservation staff to tell that I am going to be late. He was very helpful. Also front desk clerk was nice.
Review 30:Management /front desk/bell staff have different rules for LSI managed rooms - cannot check in before 3 even if rooms available; iron broken had to wait during LSI office hours to call and wait again for their housekeepers to replace (took a couple of hours) etc.
Review 31:Convenience to shopping and food
Review 32:Hotel staff told us they r not responsible for the condo's rental units. We have to call LSI to solve our problems. LSI office is located at L A, Calif. I had problem checking in as the hotel reception staff did n receive the info from LSI. Bell service refused to keep our luggages even though we will be back staying at the rentals 4 days later
Review 33:We needed more towels in our room & front desk staff would NOT accomidate us. We were unaware that we were renting a private condo until we needed towels in our room
Review 34:Prime location
Review 35:Staff at hotel was not very welcoming or friendly when they informed us that we were not renting from them (and of course made sure they knew we would not contact them if we had issues). The lobby could have been nice but it was under construction and rather much a mess. But worst of all was the location. It was close to the mall (which was nice) but other than that it was in a very run down area of town and the beach next to it was the same way!
Review 36:Room was small but nice, restaurants in hotel were very good!
Review 37:Not knowing Ala Moana has a third party.and their advertisement is misleading. Your request can not be granted. Example your preference for a kingsize bed, the customer has to call the LSI resort for availability and still would not be accommodated . It is so frustrating.. Ones expectation is so upsetting. We would have known it, we could have booked ourselves someplace else .
Review 38:The staff were courteous.
Review 39:Couldn't check in 2 hours early as the staff said the owner would not allow it. We didn't know that it's owned privately.
Review 40:Location is perfect for shopping
Review 41:Distinction made by front desk staff between regular hotel and LSI units made it clear to me that they took no responsibility for the quality of my stay at the latter. I had reserved several units in both LSI and the Outrigger for out of town guests and myself for a convention center based conference. This was a very bad first impression created by the front desk. Later, I had no one to turn to when gift baskets I had ordered were successfully delivered to the hotel rooms but not to the LSI unit. There should be a dedicated front desk staff for LSI. Although these units were slightly less expensive than the hotel, I would hesitate to recommend them to friends in the future.
Review 42:The room was clean, well maintained and the bed was comfortable. We liked the proximity to the shopping center, convention center and the beach park. Certainly was good value for the money, The food prepared for our opening reception buffet was superb and ample.
Review 43:Very busy lobby and valet, as this hotel serves multiple airlines and their air crews.
Review 44:Excellent value for money, located just a short walk from both Ala Moana Beach Park and Waikiki beach. Modern rooms and great ammenities. Also one block from the shopping mall, which is very convenient for anything you may have forgotten to pack.
Review 45:only wish they had a free shuttle to the airport
Review 46:we booked the room quite last minute for an overnight stay in Honolulu before an inter-island flight, and didn't even realize how fancy the place was. the room was basically a suite with kitchen and all, with 2 balconies overlooking the seaside. we felt like royalties for a night ;) what a great surprise for a discounted price!
Review 47:The shower had a knob that if you turned it too far, it would turn the water on again. It took awhile to figure out when it was off. It could waste a lot of water that way. The bed sheets were dirty, they were stained and even after they did a VIP cleaning, the sheets were still the same ones. You may want to consider getting new sheets.
Review 48:It was a comfortable size for myself. The AC and the hotel amenities were fine.
Review 49:No bad experience but the room was small & micro wave too complicated to use.( ( No instructions.) Other than that we loved it.
Review 50:Convenient & Loved the valet service!! The price was awesome compared to other hotels we have stayed for a much classier hotel despite the constructions.
Review 51:Ithe room was not made up at 3:00 pm, as expected, and hadn't beenready when I left at 5:30 pm. Also, on Sunday the room was nevercleaned. The excuse was that there was a "Do Not Disturb" signup, which of course was not true. There was no coffee shop.
Review 52:It was adequate.
Review 53:Loud noises from adjoining rooms and other rooms from the same floor at all hours of the night. That hotel staff can't provide service because certain rooms are managed by independent companies. The hotel cafe needs better and cleaner dishes and utensils.
Review 54:The location that it is right next door to Ala Moana Shopping Center. The hotel has a nice view during the day and at night. The security for room access.
Review 55:Bed was uncomfortable. Room smelled. Shower had little water pressure. Shampoo holder was broken. AC turned off after 4 hours -- awoke covered in sweat every night and had to get up to turn it back on. Staff is very clear you need to call Booking.com staff in Las Vegas if you have a problem. I checked out early and went to a different hotel.
Review 56:Nothing
Review 57:paid vehicle parking spaces appeared almost non-existant late at night. attendant said to double park but that would surely p___ somebody off.
Review 58:it is close to the ala moana shopping mall as well as waikiki and downtown honolulu
Review 59:Lsi is not the Ala Moana hotel. It's a 3rd party company so anyissues have to be solved long distance on California time. And this isnot clear when booking. I realize this only when checking in at 2:30 pm.Come back at 3 pm checkin time.
Review 60:Location, Hotel staff
Review 61:No ice maker on our floor. No utensils. No dishwashing liquid. Blood stains on sheet. Terrible shower water pressure.
Review 62:Refrigerator. Big TV. Free WiFi. Roomy. Secured elevator. Dishes. Nice view. Big bathroom with counter space. Amenities. Air conditioned! Convenient location.
Review 63:Because this was booked as condo independently, the hotel could not assist with missing items: ice bucket, alarm clock. Also, the sheets were kind of sour smelling like they were left in the washer too long before being placed in the dryer. There was a burn hole in the guest chair. The price was slightly better than I could get from hotel, but I think guests should know beforehand that there is a slight difference in quality/services when compared to the standard hotel room.
Review 64:I liked being housed in the Ala Moana Hotel, next to the Ala Moana Mall. Nice location!
Review 65:Wifi - connection you had to keep re logging in - painful, Room card key lost the data twice and I had to get my room card key reloaded CHeck in/Check out queues in lobby are always so long - not much fun when are wanting to get into your room and the card doesn't work!!!
Review 66:The fact they refused to allow late checkout beyond noon even though I asked only untill 2 pm since my tour finished at 1 PM and I needed to take a shower before leaving for the airport. Customer Service staff who said she was the supervisor was adamant to the point of rudeness in that she would not allow beyond noon. She said engineer needs to come fix the door but a different staff had told me engineer was slated to come at 3 pm! So all in all - 50/50 experience.
Review 67:The fact that LSI made up for the broken bathroom door by offering a satisfactory discount.
Review 68:When I booked I asked for a room with a king bed (it said it was available). Ended up with a room with 2 full size beds instead. Wasn't what I was expecting for my 18th anniversary with my wife.
Review 69:Decent location.
Review 70:Just our room was guilt clean . Our extra blanket was in a trash bag in the closet still dirty. But the problem was taken care right away. Mahalo.
Review 71:The location and staff we came in contact treat is with aloha. Mahalo
Review 72:The room not clean right balcony furniture broken also had to pay 25 dollars daily for parking in addition to what I paid for the stay
Review 73:That it was near the mall for shopping and eating
Review 74:only one thing bed was too soft, and had a indentation on mattress. need to flip and turn around on occ.
Review 75:view was great, room was ok, enjoyed the amenities. micro, ref.and coffee maker.
Review 76:I had to keep calling for housekeeping to come in and clean. I had the privacy please on door for 1 day and had to call twice for housekeeping. Ran out of toilet paper and when i asked a maid for some she told me she could not give to me because it is private property.
Review 77:The location, the view and price were all great. I will stay again when I come to Honolulu.
Review 78:Better floor covering in bathroom. Should have @ least two bathrugsright off.
Review 79:We love to dance. Rumours was so much fun. So nice to be able to go yourroom directly
Review 80:First of all, when I booked thru Booking.com, I didn't realize theroom is not owned by the hotel. When I call the hotel after check-in,they denied all my request and asked me to call another number for help.I called lsi (the room owner) but it's after their office hour, andthey offered no help at all. All I want was to get new pillows as theywere stinky. However, after several hours, there was no response fromlsi. We ended up having a sleepless night, but we got nowhere tocomplain!!! Reception takes forever to answer any phone call, and theysimply say this is not hotel property!!! Do you get it? I couldn'tbelieve I booked a hotel room via Booking.com but ended up stay in aroom (not owned by hotel) but getting no service at all. This was theworst hotel stay ever in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review 81:Location is close to Ala Moana Shopping Center
Review 82:Everything! Our room was cleaned once it 5 days, everytime we phoned to get it cleaned the staff shrugged us off and said its not our problem because it's privately owned. The pillows smelt dirty, the shower leaked everywhere. It was supposed to be an ocean view and the only way u could see the ocean was if you poked your head around the balcony. The staff gave us phone numbers to phone LSI then tried to charge us, and every time I phoned I got directed somewhere else, left numerous messages and still havnt had a reply! The place is poorly managed and I would not recommend it to anyone!!! Over priced and run by amateurs who don't care about their service! This gives ala moana a poor reputation.
Review 83:Free wifi
Review 84:The water from the freezer compartment was leaking onto the kitchen floor. There was an odor in the kitchen area from the moment I walked in. Housekeeping knocked on the door the first day and never returned again.
Review 85:Spacious unit with nice views from both lanais.
Review 86:I liked that everything is right there within walking distance, car rental, stores, laundry, and beach. Very good staff and outstanding customer service.
Review 87:My room was privately owned so I couldn't check in until 3pm. Cleaning people wouldn't come until around 4pm. Hotel could not help me if I needed something. I needed to call a private outside company. Make sure you know if you are booking a privately owned room.
Review 88:When we arrived a smoke alarm that was low in batteries was emitting a high pitched beeping sound right outside our room. We called the front desk and asked to have it fixed- it was loud. About half an hour it stopped. That night, in the middle of the night it started up again and woke us up. We were very tired. We called again and they removed it. It shouldn't have happened.
Review 89:Bed was comfy, lively view
Review 90:Did not receive new towels one day and had to call four times within an hour to receive them. Had to incur long distance charges for each call. Not impressed!!!
Review 91:Tour assistance staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 92:The room was not as clean as it should have been & it would have helped if there had been instructions for use of the appliances. Also, as a smoker, the smoking area should have been more clearly marked and the Policy explained better.t
Review 93:Loved the café for breakfast! Service & food both excellent.
Review 94:Check in took 45 minutes because we had to come back at 3pm and wait in line even though we had registered 3 hours prior. Also, if there were any problems we had to call a number at a charge to address the issues,
Review 95:location
Review 96:We booked a king size bed w/ ocean view, got 2 double beds, and felt the springs from the mattress. We complained, so they added a bed liner, still uncomfortable.Hotel didn't take care of the Vacation rentals. It was a horrible experience.
Review 97:The location!
Review 98:Wasn't aware that the unit was a privately owned unit whereby incidentals would be handled through a company other then the hotel. If we needed anything, then that might've caused an inconvenience. We were prepared so no other services were needed.
Review 99:I did not like after the fact that upon checking on front desk informing me this room was not part of the hotel. Any problems had to call a 800 number AND I did not like the mandatory resort fee which I never used anything. For that price parking should have been included. Staff seemed to me more friendly towards those people NOT staying in the private residence! If it were not for the price I would not have stayed here!
Review 100:Location very convenient.
Review 101:There weren't any good restaurants close by for breakfast until the food court in the mall opened later in the day. The pillows were not comfortable in the room. Also room service should be earlier, I didn't get serviced till @4pm every day. I think that the room was a little pricy
Review 102:I liked the location of the property. It was close to shopping and not too far from the beach.
Review 103:Wifi sucked. Unless we came down to the lobby no wifi in our room.
Review 104:It was close to everything we needed. No stressing on how to drive to get to our destinations.
Review 105:The fridge buzzed and hummed incessantly and the sound of running water and pipes was loud throughout the room and started early in the morning. The pool closes too early. There was hair left in the tub from a previous guest.
Review 106:Nice view from the balcony, though partially obstructed by other buildings.
Review 107:We weren't aware we were booked into a privately owned room rather than hotel so were made to feel like we couldn't call on the hotel staff for assistance, however we didn't need any so it didn't become a problem.
Review 108:We were primarily in Honolulu to shop to the location was great. The room was very small, so would only recommend for people who weren't planning on being in the room a lot. It was hassle free accommodation and the wifi worked well.
Review 109:the staff were not able to help me with an ausyrailan adaptor. Unfortunate and would have been helpful as the world adaptor I purchased didn't take 3 prongs.
Review 110:Easy walk to the shopping precinct. Comfortable and affordable.
Review 111:Toilet did not flush, couldn't use until 10pm that night when we finally threatened to check out. Already had made trips to desk and several phone calls. Hard to get ready for a wedding when the facilities don't work.
Review 112:Card key for accessing the elevator didn't work on occasion and I had to get it re-programmed. Area of town not as safe as I would have liked it.
Review 113:Location was ideal close to everything.
Review 114:Our room was an independently owned condo, and the front desk staff explained that if it was dirty or something was wrong there would be nothing they could do. We got lucky, and everything was fine. But it was very worrying. Although the room and bed was very very small.
Review 115:The hotel is in a great location and looks very nice from the outside and in the lobby and hallways
Review 116:Coffee maker was not clean and did not use need to replace. You need to put a mat in bath tub since I am handicap and have balance issues.
Review 117:Loved the comfort of the bed & pillows very nice. The ocean view was so nice to see I had my meals on the balcony. Space was adequate.
Review 118:LSI being a company set up in Vegas, very hard to have contact with anyone as the actual room can't be helped by hotel staff. No one to complain to about cleanliness, which was definitely an issue
Review 119:Loved the bed and great location if you love shopping
Review 120:When I made my reservation it was not clear that this was being booked through a third party, caused a lot of confusion when the credit card charge came through.
Review 121:The bathroom was too dark due to a missing lightbulb, and reeked noticeably of a stench the sort of public toilet.
Review 122:Location. Nice view of city and boat harbor.
Review 123:Shower was a little run down! Curtain was stained on the inside and the lower soap holder was falling off the wall.
Review 124:Room was very comfortable as were the beds! Nice view of the ocean!
Review 125:There were smokers on the lanai next to us, told hotel, they didn't follow up.
Review 126:This is an excellent location, Ala Moana Mall has many advantages. My Daughter lives in Honolulu, and parking for her was easy at the Mall. Pool is nice and the food store is excellent, fresh coffee, food, and beer- Nice!
Review 127:This is not actually a hotel - it is a set of interrelated companies attempting to run some condominiums who take joy in blaming each other for problems, whilst simultaneously failing to solve said problems and being extremely rude to their guests. I have never been abused at a front desk before in my life, as I was at Ala Moana. I would never stay here again.
Review 128:They called us a cab when we decided to leave. That is the only good thing about this alleged hotel.
Review 129:The coil in the air conditioning was leaking when we came into the room and there is a puddle of water in the carpet that was being soaked up into the chair next to the air conditioning unit. Maintenance claimed to have fixed the problem but they used our towels to soak up the water. We went to take showers and figured we could get towels from the maid but since the room was not part of the hotel the maid refused to give us towels so we called the phone number for maid service and sat in our room waiting...until we decided to just use beach and pool towels. After we finished showering and dressing the maid showed up with towels. We couldn't wait any longer or we would have been charged for a late check out. After we Checked out another person checked in and the floors were still wet. The women at the front desk at check in were not friendly either. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!!!
Review 130:It was in Hawaii.
Review 131:The room wasn't ready when we arrived, but we were a little early and they said they were running a bit behind too...so. The bathroom floor was still wet from them cleaning and the cleaning product they used was so over powering it gave me a headache that lasted for hours.
Review 132:The room size was nice and comfortable for two people. Good location for shopping.
Review 133:There was no extra blanket
Review 134:Location of the hotel was convenient, the room was clean and comfortable, the kitchen and bathroom were nice, the Internet and the view were great.
Review 135:Signs of wear & tear on walls and furniture. Emphasis on how the hotel is a condo hotel and how services are maintained differently; this gave the impression that we were not true guests of the hotel. Services should be streamlined for guests so that there is no guesswork or triage for who we should call, etc. Thankfully we had no problems and it was a short stay but strange nonetheless.
Review 136:Location
Review 137:Being told AS I ARRIVED that I was not renting a room from the Ala Moana Hotel, but actually from a "private company" that owns SOME of the rooms in the hotel. A male receptionist and a female receptionist named "J" or "Jay" told me that my room was owned by a "private individual" and that I have to wait until 4PM to check in! She said it several times, and then she said "sign this, so you can't say that we didn't tell you it's owned by a private individual", and I said "yeah, NOW you're telling me. You should've told me before I finished booking, 2 months ago", and then left to go get security because I was "rude". But the manager stopped her and he came over to discuss it with me. He wasn't making excuses, like she was. He was reasonable, and he didn't accuse me of being unreasonable. Then he gave me a room, which when I got there, had a dirty sink, a vacuum cleaner in the middle of the floor, and the heater cover was laying on the floor. I waited 30 minutes for my luggage, then gave up and went downstairs to ask for it. The 3rd receptionist said "oh we're changing your room". I asked why, and he said "I don't know". Then they finally brought my luggage to the 2nd room, which had a MUCH better view. This time, I could see the beach instead of a parking lot. It was still a small room at $150, but at least it was comfortable and the internet worked.
Review 138:Location near the beach and Ala Moana Mall.
