Reviews for Halekulani

Review 1:Some of the staff were amazing. Some were outrageously rude. I went for lunch (on premises) and someone cleared my clearly still being used sun beds. I had left 3 bottles of sun lotion one of which was a face cream worth £100. In clearing they lost this cream and were so dismissive about it. And blamed me for going to lunch despite having warned the waiti staff I was going. As a whole it's just not element enough with the right kind of service to justify it's reputation. I have never written a review before and don't thrive on bad reviews. I don't always find them helpful, but for 3 days out bill was £3500 and it was really only just above average. The beach is pretty much non existent. The pool is dated.

Review 2:I'm a travel and food writer. Not working but on my actual holidays. Maybe I'm spoilt but I went to this hotel based on its reputation of being slick and classy and very classic in its service. Not a resort per se. I don't mind paying for quality but the quality didn't represent the price.

Review 3:too many staff visit to the room during the day. if you don't put do not disturb on, they will come in the morning (even before the housekeeper) trying to give you more water and ice. it could wait till we leave the room.

Review 4:facilities, staff, location. very relaxing at the pool. room is very comfortable.

Review 5:Not a big thing but I couldn't find (or there wasn't one) the iron and ironing board in the room.

Review 6:Staff were exceptional and went above and beyond making our stay very enjoyable! Cocktails by the pool were amazing! Food and Luau was excellent. Location was perfect. Overall very good!

Review 7:I gave my VISA card when I checked in, as security. I was staying for almost 2 weeks. 2 days before checkout, I requested that they put everything on my AMEX card. The two days' notice notwithstanding, they kept it on my VISA card, causing it to max out. I called to get it cleared up, and was told it would take three weeks to do so.

Review 8:Everything but the cashier's screwup ( see 'what didn't you like').

Review 9:The area is a bit overpriced. I don't know that we would stay in Waikiki again. The Hawaii experience gets lost.

Review 10:The staff was very, very accommodating. We mentioned that we had sticky buns at another resort and they had them made especially for us. This was Chris, at the pool. The maids do a wonderful turn down at night.

Review 11:Tipping (but that is everywhere). No iron in the room was a bit weird (but I assume you could have one sent up). It's not cheap. Didn't try the breakfast. No real beach front. You could throw a stone in the sea from the pool, but it doesn't actually have it's own beachfront. But the pool is 10/10, they give you free icecreams, there is poolside cocktail service, and free towels and sunscreen.

Review 12:The following things were 10/10 (I could keep coming up with adjectives, but they were perfect): - Room - Service - Pool - Cocktails - The resort as a whole - Free bottles of water in the room - They made up the room twice daily - Location is prety good

Review 13:Food is too expensive and restaurants too noisy. Pool crew is below par; one should not serve beer and chips at people in(!) in the pool. Gets dirty and tricky for other guests

Review 14:Location of hotel and people are really great.

Review 15:The intimate nature of a large organization. They constantly made you feel special and attended to every need effortlessly. My husband travels in a wheelchair which did not create any problems.

Review 16:Noise from other rooms, esp footsteps from probably rooms above, late at night and early in the morning. Perhaps needs some renovation, making rooms sound proof

Review 17:Friendly housekeeping staff; cleanliness of the room; spacious and well supplied bathroom

Review 18:Halekulani is in a beautiful, peaceful spot right in the middle of Waikiki. The well designed standard room allowed you to see the breathtaking view from the bathroom and bedroom, and was comfortable and roomy. It was fun to look forward to the nightly turn-down gifts. Service was cool but polite over-all, and the valets at the front were especially friendly and full of useful information about the whole island.

Review 19:Loud air con in fm 954 No coffee tea making facilities Single bedsjammed together Should hv an option of a soft thin pillow Body wash..,Not soap Hair drier should be housed in bathroom Iron and board shouldbe housed in wardrobe

Review 20:I am married 67 female..hv just Stayed 9 dayside your magnificenthotel,,,, I Holidayed with my girlfriend., A treat for her after herillness. Stayed at Room .954. Air conditioning v loud. Review 21:- Room service was so so

Review 22:- Excellent staff - Very nice pool, although you need to get poolside very early to secure a decent seat - Very good dining options - superb buffet breakfast at Room Without a Key. - Very helpful concierge - Location

Review 23:We had dinner on the patio and enjoyed the live music, but were disappointed with our entrees. However, the dessert was incredible and service was very good.

Review 24:We really appreciated the Hospitality suite on our final day. We had a very late return flight, so we were able to freshen up and relax before heading to the airport. Also appreciated advice from the concierge desk on activities around the island.

Review 25:Just to remebmer . This is waikiki not the beach resort! This is the best hotel in waikiki and probabely oahu, but if you look for dessesrted beach then go to trutle bay. Worse hotel there but more quiet.

Review 26:Great hotel!best in Honolulu. Service, ambience, ale great!

Review 27:We booked ocean view room but we were given partial view, I guess thereason was we have a connected room cuz they only allowed 3 person in aroom and we needed to book two rooms because of our 2 small children. Therefore we can only get the partial ocean view room. The room keydidn't work after our swimming, I called the front desk and theykeep insisting that I have to come down for a new key, after muchhassling then I finally get the manager to bring up the key. Theydon't understand it tough to bring two small child down to the frontdesk when you come back from the beach. Breakfast is included with ourBooking.com reservation, but since we get discount on the second roomthey automatically took our breakfast away, the reason being "nodouble discount allowed." We didn't even care for breakfastuntil our last before we hit the airport. Btw there is a waiting linefor 45 minutes for breakfast buffet, this is the first in all the worldclass hotel that we stayed. Don't take outside customers then yourguests can get their breakfast.

Review 28:The concierge staff were the highlight of the stay. Location is quitegreat but the swimming pool and public beach is tiny and crowded. Notworth the money.

Review 29:The culture of tipping, and there are so many staff that provide you with service, it seemed that we always had our hands in our pockets.

Review 30:Friendly and helpful staff. It seemed that nothing we requested was too much for them. their efforts mostly exceeded our expectations. Also, we had booked a garden view room, and we were upgraded to an ocean view room on a higher level, the eighth floor.

Review 31:1. Excellent staff who really cares about your needs 2. Very, very clean rooms 3. Dedication of the whole staff to making your stay special 4. Very quiet and safe hotel

Review 32:Bed a tad too soft (subjective). Dress code for Orchids restaurant too strict for a beachfront resort. Limited menu choices at House Without a Key.

Review 33:Cleanliness. Friendly staffs. Elegant interior & exterior. Much more peaceful & quiet at night compared to other beachfront hotels in Waikiki.

Review 34:Sometimes we have had rooms and construction is taking place. Also, I have food allergies and the staff needs to be a little more careful about it.

Review 35:We have stayed at the Halekulani since 2005. It is lovely, and pleasure to return. It is a very unique hotel. The staff is outstanding! Truly very professional and kind.

Review 36:I was to say the least, shocked there was no beach front. The tiny patchof beach allocated to the side of the Hotel, a disappointment as it wasscruffy and a mere walk through for all and sundry. There were no bedsor umbrellas provided, although you could hire them further down thebeach for $50 dollars. What a cheek! The pool area was very nice, if nota little small and because of that and the lack of beach, it was a fightto get a bed. I found the manager unhelpful and surly when we requesteda late check-out. The staff were nice otherwise.

Review 37:Beautiful, clean, comfy room with a breathtaking view of the Ocean.

Review 38:For us not being able to make a cup of tea or coffee in our room. This should be introduced as most hotels at this level have this. Really wasn't anything else we didn't like.

Review 39:While this seems expensive it's worth the price. Located right on beachfront with easy access to water or just stay by the pool. Away from the crowds or a short walk to everything you'll need during your stay. The staff are very friendly and it's not stuffy at all. There is dress standards but these are easy and make it a nicer experience than the more populated hotels in Waikiki. There are two options for breakfast - buffet style or al a carte. Wifi is great in room and bit patchy elsewhere but this is normal when traveling. We would definitely go back.

Review 40:Valet, pool and maid service tip top. Amenities excellent. Location always great. Constant noise from non-stop weddings was a bit much but relaxing sound of the ocean more than made up for it.

Review 41:Nothing. Great hotel.

Review 42:Everything. Lovely room, great service, wonderful food. The birthday chocolates left as a surprise in our room was both classy and touching.

Review 43:No beach ..food ( restaurant & room service) average ..room nice but average at this price point...overall impression from staff, food, spa, pool is completely average from a very pricy hotel... Not a bad experience just not a stand out. Location is good...Nobu is directly across street. We will stay elsewhere next time.

Review 44:At this price point , expectations were met but not a stand out property. Great view room 1759..

Review 45:Atmosphere was a little stiff at times. Considering we were on a dream vacation, it sometimes felt formal

Review 46:Genuine warmth from every single member of staff

Review 47:Leaving!

Review 48:we stayed for three nights before moving on to four seasons Maui. The hotel was fantastic and we were sad to leave! The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly and a real credit to this hotel- we were delighted with the service. The grounds are beautifully kept (we saw someone dusting the real flowers in the garden!!!) the breakfast was lovely and with a beautiful view to look at while you eat! We booked a garden room but were given a beautiful partial ocean view and also we were given a complimentary bottle of fizz on arrival to congratulate us! I cannot emphasise enough what a lovely place this is and have stayed in many 5* hotels across the world!

Review 49:There was nothing to not like

Review 50:Beautiful hotel, perfect location, excellent friendly service. Great valet service, never had to wait for car. Lots of really nice extras like chocolates and fruit in room and free water. Great restaurants, all with great views. Was so pleased with choice of hotel as it was so peaceful and calm in a busy beach area. I would highly recommend and would definitely pick this hotel again if I return to Waikiki.

Review 51:Wi-fi signal not great in our room (but good elsewhere on the property)

Review 52:Great facilities, very friendly and helpful staff, wonderful location, fantastic pool area (incl poolside staff), awesome buffet breakfast. House Without A Key is a fabulous dinner & drinks venue (sunset entertainment is fantastic).

Review 53:Not a cheap holiday but still worth every penny!

Review 54:We were there as part of our honeymoon and thought it was THE best place ever. The location and facilities were amazing, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the service was excellent and the SPA is also really worthwhile.

Review 55:1.conceirge guided to room, its very annoyance us, cause his/her works was not want to do. 2.2bottles of water service was not prepared. 3. noisy next room. 4. few elevators 5. low pressure shower 6. crowded swimming pool 7. without key bar had haleklani's nice cocktail recipe previous, but now common cocktail only.

Review 56:1. nice view 2. bell service /taxi service was comfortable 3. they had nice spa.

Review 57:No coffee or tea maker in the room - not even the suite. The prices for tea or coffee are high and room service costs an addl USd5.

Review 58:Becos i was going to celebrate my 50th b'day, the hotel upgraded me to a suite, with a bottle of champagne and allowed me hold the room till 3pm. The staff were very friendly and empowered to take decisions.

Review 59:We loved everything and would definately recommend it to anyone going to Hawaii. We will definately be going back.

Review 60:Staff were excellent, well above expectations!

Review 61:Pool (not enough showers for people accessing from the beach), the regular cafeteria/restaurant (poor menu)

Review 62:Location, French restaurant, staff, comfort

Review 63:Only the cost

Review 64:Everything. It is pricey to stay here but worth every penny. We opted for a view of the pacific and diamond head which was wonderful. Enjoyed the restaurants and all staff were lovely. Would recommend

Review 65:Nothing!!

Review 66:The Halekulani is my favourite hotel in the world. The staff are so friendly, and are happy to cater to my individual needs. Most of them would even greet me by name!

Review 67:As beautiful as the hotel is and all the amenities it has, it still is a bit too overpriced. I've stayed in amazing hotels that weren't nearly as expensive.. eg Dubai, NY. That's the only negative. Still loved it!

Review 68:Excellent location..outstanding service...beautiful room...super comfortable all round. I would definitely stay there again.

Review 69:The Wi-Fi was spotty and when it did work, pretty slow.

Review 70:Fantastic hotel in a great location. Staff is incredibly friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. The partial ocean view room is all you need...you'll love it!

Review 71:Leaving (smile) It is truly a rare experience when you do not have any complaints about a hotel. We have only superlatives for the kind & thoughtful manner of your staff, and our lovely stay at the Halekulani. Thank-you very much.

Review 72:Excellent staff and facilities Concern and compassion when a family member became ill. They helped us find a Urgent Care Center, and followed up by inquiring about the welfare of the family member. A sincere thank-you. I was the family member, and I cannot thank-you enough for your concern about my health.

Review 73:We could not fault this wonderful accommodation.

Review 74:We loved everything from the spacious grounds to the wonderful pool. The fantastic dining and the lovely beach. Best of all were the attentive staff who took care of us superbly.

Review 75:Wi-fi does not work properly in some points. Even when theres enough signal, frequently there was no access to the internet. Since I had my 4G working, it was less of a problem, but still... Valet services are quite slow. It was some 10 to 15 minutes whenever I need the car.

Review 76:All the staff members of the hotel treated us with extreme kindness and care. I was upgraded to a suite as soon as I got there, without even asking. Every afternoon, when we returned from the beach, which is right beside the hotel pool, there was a little gift or a nice invitation to a cocktail party or other even in the hotel. Surf classes by Ty Gurner's Surf School is right across the street and they leave from the hotel beach. Breakfast was perfect.

Review 77:the part of the hotel we stayed in was a little dated. The rooms had a great balcony overlooking the pool, but there were not private...

Review 78:Charming hotel, helpful staff, great location. The 3 restaurants in the hotel are all lovely.

Review 79:We were placed in two rooms above the basement entry and woken daily at 5am with the sound of trucks unloading and reversing. This is not acceptable given the cost of staying in the hotel.

Review 80:The location of the hotel is fantastic as is the pool and outdoor amenity

Review 81:On two occasions we were told the bar was full and we couldn't be served, despite being a guest and the bar full of non guests, after complaining space was found

Review 82:Hotel staff unbelievably helpful and friendly, nothing too much trouble. Beautiful setting and good food.

Review 83:Our only very small criticism is that we found the casual restaurant, 'House without a key' disappointing. The menu was very limited & the prices were expensive for the food available.

Review 84:We absolutely loved our stay at Halekulani- a little piece of paradise where you can escape the chaos of Waikiki, but so perfectly located that you are seconds away from the fun & excitement.

Review 85:I think the price I payed was completely out of reality, really expensive

Review 86:Great location. Staff were always very helpful and accommodating. Food was excellent. Best place to stay in Waikiki.

Review 87:My room with diamond head view could have been bigger, but was very comfortable anyway

Review 88:Service is awesome. Every detail is very well taken care of.

Review 89:It was amaizing...

Review 90:Age is showing.. Carpets old. Doors in hallway old.. Our room was right above a building top:(

Review 91:Very friendly staff & helpful..

Review 92:It is an amazing place. We could not have been happier with our stay. We love this property

Review 93:Rather busy property

Review 94:Being on the beach

Review 95:There is no real beach. They rushed us out of our room after we paid $9,000 for one week stay

Review 96:The views were nice.

Review 97:Everything! $1000 per day too much! And too poor!

Review 98:Food

Review 99:Nothing

Review 101:The beach was not good.

Review 102:Liked the room and hospitality suite, pool area.

Review 103:Service is wonderful! The breakfast is delicious! We can not complaint anything.

Review 105:Very expensive hotel for basic old room and average staff

Review 106:Location
