Reviews for Red Carpet Inn Albany
Review 1:Could smell some smoke though it was a non-smoking room. It seemed like the fumes were coming through outside the room since the intensity of the smell fluctuated during my stay.
Review 2:Very close to the airport.
Review 3:Bed was uncomfortable and there was a loud humming noise coming in and out from the inside of the mini fridge in the middle of the night. It kept waking us up.
Review 4:The room and bathroom was very clean. The staff was pleasant and the location was good
Review 5:The towels were covered with someone's hair. Smoking rooms are adjacent to non-smoking ones and have common ventilation, so that the odor comes to your non-smoking room from the bathroom whenever person in the neighboring room is smoking.
Review 6:The oncoming night front desk clerk, when I came in, glared at me without blinking, no smile - I told him the phone was dead, and that the internet password didn't work. Without speaking he handed me the same password slip and yellowed out the part that was the password. I felt like he wanted to stereotype a woman traveling alone, that he had issues - it was disturbing. I had a big hair on one of my pillows which made me wonder if they changed the linens.
Review 7:The outgoing evening clerk was perfectly nice; he got me a new phone.
Review 8:It is true the you get what you pay for. The Red Carpet was cheap and it was value for money. Don't plan on spending too long in the bedroom or creating special memories there - but we booked last minute and it was clean and comfortable so we don't regret the choice.
Review 9:I think the sink has the faucet installed backwards. It still works, but hot & cold are reversed and it's hard to turn off. It can be confusing to access this location when coming from the south, since Northern Boulevard appears to stop and start in an awkward way.
Review 10:Everything worked well, including a nice fridge and microwave, but with the exception of the sink -- see "didn't like". The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet.
Review 11:The cable could work a little better. Bad reception.
Review 12:The A/c could work a little better. I was there 2 nights and nobody visited my room to clean or change nothing.
Review 13:The person at the desk was very helpful. The lobby was very nice as was the room. It had a small refrigerator in the room as well as a microwave. It was certainly comfortable and had most of what you would need. The only improvement could have been coffee available in the room. However, they did have it in the lobby. I would and will go there again.
Review 14:The pictures are misleading. The room we stayed in needed updating and it smelled very musty. The man who checked us in was uninterested in any interactions.
Review 15:It was very close to the times union center where we had tickets to see a show and was close to the expressway. The price was low. The woman who checked us out was very friendly.
Review 16:One sheet loosely draped over lumpy bed not even tucked in. No fitted sheet. Dirty moldings, refrigerator did not work. Paid for 2 nights. Stayed 1 because we were exhausted from the drive. Wouldn't have been worth canceling 2nd night with a $65 cancelation fee on a $75 room. Get what you pay for. A genuine dump.
Review 17:The only negative was the wifi. It worked we'll on Friday but on the weekend it stopped working . Considering we were out of town we did need the wifi to get directions for our outings the next day.
Review 18:I was surprised for the price , it was really clean . The beds were very comfortable, there was a great flat screen tv with cable, ac, and the neighbourhood was quiet . We stayed for 3 days n got 2 rooms , and we were very please .
Review 19:Strang bug in our room. Basic room, how place is run down. The laundromat looks like it's from the 70s and hasn't been cleaned since then.
Review 20:Laundromat was cheap
Review 21:The Staff, except the man who helped me when I checked in, were rude and disrespectful. They clearly didn't care about me or their jobs. They were very mean and unwelcoming to me. Also, the neighbors on both sides were exceptionally loud. The wifi cut out when I was working and the tv would lose signal every hour.
Review 22:The room was comfortable and felt like a small apartment. It made my stay after 7+ hours of driving very comfortable. The man who checked me in was exceptionally nice and welcoming. He was the only thing outside of the large bed and room set up that I actually enjoyed
Review 23:I think this location is being partially used as a SRO and/or to house the homeless. There were some unusual people hanging around. They didn't bother us though.
Review 24:Price; cleanliness, location.
Review 25:The laundry room works fine, but smells of stale tobacco smoke and old carpet -- linoleum would work better.
Review 26:The rooms have a simple layout, are clean, everything works. The staff were friendly and helpful about a reservation change and other things.
Review 27:Stayed here to take the bar exam in Downtown Albany. Good location, butfacilities were just ok. Room kind of smelled like smoke, but seemedclean otherwise. Bed was not in great shape.
Review 28:The man at the check in was very rude. Floor was uneven in our room.
Review 29:Free wifi! The front desk manager in the morning was so friendly! Very clean! Perfect location!
Review 30:The room didnt have anything but basics. No tv channel guide. No guide on tv. No info on the inn. Nothing showing restaurants or stores near by. 2 towels for 3 and 1 shampoo. I was told before arival by staff it was 2.6 miles from airport but was 6.7
Review 31:I liked that we could park right at the door of the room.
Review 32:Man's attitude (Don) at reception on check-in, treated us more like intruders than guests. Abrupt, no help, initially booked us in to wrong room. More interested in his friend keeping him company. House keeping -bed not made, bin not emptied & dank smell. Paid in full and have discovered an extra $1.30 charge. Cancelled our 2nd booking.
Review 33:Nothing, except good parking.
Review 34:The room was filthy, the shower was honestly so old and broken down I didn't want to shower. The smell of air freshener overpowered the room but didn't eliminate the bad smell of the room. There were very sketchy "weekly" residents hanging around the parking lots and stairwells that I was uncomfortable unpacking my car and felt I had to fully empty everything out of the vehicle. The price is comparable to other hotels in the area that looked cleaner and safer and if I had any other options (everything else was booked for a sporting event) I would have immediately checked out. Do not stay here.
Review 35:Absolutely nothing
Review 36:We discovered that the corner where the walls meet the floor were covered in hair and debris when we were checking for bed bugs. We never found any thank God but discovered just how filthy the room was in the process. Comforter also had what looked like urine stains on it. The rooms cleanliness was borderline unacceptable. Any dirtier and I would've asked for a refund.
Review 37:The room was cheap, the staff seemed friendly, the entrance to check in was luxurious, TVs were new and had cable channels. The hotel is next to downtown and hospital.
Review 38:Bed was horrible...when one party rolled over made noises that would wake you up... felt bedspread should be cleanned or washed.. more frequently...
Review 39:bathroom modern.. it was quiet for us ..close to everything we came for...maids were very pleasant... was good for the money...
Review 40:room was horrible, had a strange odor. the bed was uncomfortable, I was afraid to touch the bedspread. lobby looks like it hasn't been updated since it was built. The front desk was always busy, so each time I had a question or needed to check in/check out, I had to wait.
Review 41:location to my event
Review 42:Minor complaints not worth mentioning.
Review 43:Location. We did not have a car, but public transportation was available to take us into downtown. Albany and the price of the room was very reasonable. Also there were restaurants near by.
Review 44:No complimentary breakfast or coffee in room, but there was a convenience store across the street.
Review 45:No trouble with wifi. Fridge and microwave in room at no charge. Comfortable bed. Clean, updated bathroom.
Review 46:They screwed up my room that I booked that day and didn't tell me till I got there.... So I got the handicapped room, which was okay... The place was bare and as a solo traveler, it was a scary area and the place just felt gross.
Review 47:I liked the fact that there was a lock on my door.
Review 48:It would have been nice to have better TV options and slightly better lighting in the room.
Review 49:The receptionist, Martin, was incredibly helpful in recommending places to see, safe neighborhoods to walk through, etc. Even watching him deal with other customers, he was extremely professional. The room was clean, had a fridge and microwave, though certainly isn't luxurious, but fine for my purposes: I needed a place to crash in mid-travel. For the price (approximately $60 for a single king, non-smoking), this was perfect.
Review 50:What didn't like was your customer service. The young inconsiderate lady who hung up on me when trying to find the address to the property. She was rude. I will never use booking.com and your affiliates which wasn't hard to find again and will post this on Face Book.
Review 51:This place was excellent room was clean bang for your bucks. Can't go wrong here.
Review 52:The directions were convoluted as was the location. Not easy to get to and out of while on the road. The reception area smelled of mold and old smoke. The room was okay but really needed a deep cleaning and new linens. No restaurants nearby.
Review 53:We found it.
Review 54:Kind of old and cheap. Our room wasn't filthy
Review 55:We stayed 1 night with the kids on our way to Boston. For that it's perfect: cheap, near freeway and room large enough for 2 adults and 2 children. I wouldn't stay for anything else expect passing through though
Review 56:No complaint
Review 57:The overall hotel may have seen better days, but the room was large and clean. The bed: comfortable. A convenient store is located across the road. Quiet at night. Wifi working well.
Review 58:The room had a cleaning smell when we walked in. There was dust around the room edges and an old bottle of lotion be hind the tv on the floor. A dead bug hung of the wall. We had only one hand towel between two people. There was on coffee in the room we had to walk to the office to get it.
Review 59:The person at the desk when we checked in was friendly and helpful.
Review 60:Only complaints were that the room could use some paint and it was easy to get lost trying to find the place.
Review 61:Any money you can save on vacation stop overs is good and this place is inexpensive without being a dive.
Review 62:Staff was robot style. No foreign language spoken. It said breakfast included on the description. It was actually only coffee (bad)
Review 63:Not much actually.
Review 64:The bed was a little hard & pillows were flat. It's good for maybe a night or two as is what we did. But if you are looking for long term renters, the mattresses should be replaced.
Review 65:The location was close to some very good restaurants.
Review 66:Towels were little and rough. Room was musty smelling at first. No mattress pads on bed, just a sheet.
Review 67:Clean room, updated bathroom, close to everything. Quiet for being so close to many busy highway. Felt secure. Rooms have fridge, microwave and decent tv's. Price was right. I'd stay there again and probably will!
Review 68:I prefer a softer mattress.
Review 69:Where can you get a comfortable clean room with a microwave and refrigerator that's only 5 to 10 minutes from downtown any big city for $62.70?
Review 70:not many eating spots, unless you like the private establishments
Review 71:Staff friendly
Review 72:too much noise close to a busy street and a parking lot with cars coming in and out until 3:30am.
Review 73:affordable and relatively close to town
Review 74:The chairs needed a good cleaning. Some of the wall paper was ripped or hanging.
Review 75:Bed, shower, bathroom, sink were all very clean.
Review 76:Noise all night
Review 77:Location, price
Review 78:Very clean rooms
Review 79:The night staff were not helpful nor friendly.
Review 80:The day staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 84:It was very clean
Review 85:That we had to wait until 3:00 p m to get into our room!

Review 88:Location and vleanliness

Review 92:The rooms need slight refurbishment especially brighter colours must be for the bedding and furniture

Review 94:Room had a slight smell of smoke to it, light bulb was blown on light
Review 95:Two beds in the room, fridge in the room, car parking, shower had good pressure

Review 120:Dated and seen better days but clean and comfortable.
Review 121:Staff friendly. Older and dated but clean, quiet, and comfortable. Worth the money.
Review 122:No shower curtain or rod. It appeared to be an abandoned apartment masquerading as a hotel room. Smelled badly of paint. Furniture was strewn about.
