Reviews for Oakwood Toluca Hills
Review 1:The whole residential area is like a maze.... We had difficulty finding the exit, the clubhouse and our own building all the time...
Review 2:The apartment itself is very clean tidy and comfortable, basically you can find everything you need in there. The location is okay as well if you have a car. universal studio is even within 30 mins walking distance. There are also some nice restaurants nearby.
Review 3:We liked everything about this place, the rooms are well sized, beds comfy, pillows comfy, kitchen so you can cook if you like. Great pool and jacuzzi, best view at the pool near the south clubhouse as there is 2. Shop on site is expensive but vons and Walmart are close by. It's near Warner brothers and universal studios and is located on a hill. Plenty of restaurants close by and well priced. The room was serviced twice over a 12 day stay but it does state it isn't serviced daily.
Review 4:Unless you know the public transport system it's s bit out of reach. Advise on the bus to catch from hotel to Hollywood then train to KA central would be nice
Review 5:Friendly staff
Review 6:For me it was not easy to find the guard to do the check in, the gps could only recognize one entrance, which didn't have a guard.
Review 7:I liked the neighborhood, it's in Burbank, very close to the Universal City and Warner Studios.
Review 8:I couldn't find easily the guest entrance to the complex. I looked up their web or ad, there is no mention that I have to access fron S. Coyote Drive. It should be informed. Most GPS guides to Dark Canon entrance.
Review 9:It is quiet area in the middle of hill, and I could focus on my work during my stay.
Review 10:The way staffs handle parcels is very bad as if they are been disturbed if you go after your own parcel delivered to them.
Review 11:Centre to everthing great environ
Review 12:Parking is a pain. This a huge complex of apartments with hilly, winding roads. The bathrooms are small and need serious updating.
Review 13:Very comfortable bed. Good kitchen facilities. Mostly quiet neighbors. Clean, comfortable living and dining areas. Central to Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley. OK gym facilities.
Review 14:The disgusting smelly room, the rock hard beds, the filthy carpets, the fact we couldn't park near our building cause there were no spaces and we have a small child and a disabled traveller
Review 15:The pool
Review 16:Parking was hard to find, sometimes I was not able to find parking closer than 3 buildings away.
Review 17:The convience, everything you might need is on property. I felt safe there.
Review 18:A bit far from the city center, the store located there was expensive, did not like my room location even though it had balcony there was no view as it was at 1st floor so the look was restricted by upper level ground. Curtain was not suitable or comfortable. Noises from the other rooms next to the room are heard, very thin walls I guess so It was not comfortable. Definitely need a car if staying here. Others were fine.
Review 19:All the things provided in the rooms were good, clean and sufficient. Pretty good location close to Hollywood sightseeings and Universal Studios.
Review 20:We did have to go up 3 flights of stairs with all our luggage and the hallways outside the apartments had carpet which was very dirty and smelled. That did give a bad impression when first arriving.
Review 21:The apartment was large and had everything we needed. Also great value for the price.
Review 22:The common parts (corridors) in the building could do with some upkeep but the apartment itself was very clean and nicely decorated and the kitchen appliances and utensils etc were excellent.
Review 23:This is a huge apartment complex in Hollywood and is well-located and has excellent facilities. We rented a small studio which had a great kitchen and a small balcony and was perfect for a 5 night stay. There was an excellent gym and two lovely pools and a small store which was convenient for incidentals but there are great supermarkets close by (if you have a car). There was also an excellent and inexpensive laundry which was perfect for us as we had been on the road for sometime. Security was excellent and there was never any problem finding a parking space (despite other comments on this website). If you like to be self-catering or at least to have the option to make your own breakfast and to feel more like a local, this is a great alternative to staying in a hotel. The staff here we're very friendly and helpful and really made our stay comfortable.
Review 24:Some of the reidents or guests did park appropriately. On at least two nights two spots were taken by one vehicle. The carpets in the hallways were stained in areas.
Review 25:The apartment was very clean and beds very comfortable. The complex was pretty quiet. The location worked out well for our needs.
Review 26:Although the apartment we stayed in was spotless the exterior areas could have done with a little more care, (painting was taking place as we left, so we just may have hit this complex at the wrong time) You must remember you are on a complex which has long term residents, so the dynamic is different to staying in a hotel, but if you want your very own address and phone number in Hollywood for a while (how cool is that?) this is a great place to stay. The convenience store on site is pricey!!!! But would we stay again? You bet! We loved it.
Review 27:Staying in an apartment complex gave us a different experience of LA, much more relaxed and homely. The location was relatively quiet and made Warner's studio easily accessible (walking distance) the Toluca Lake area is fabulous to wander around and to get into LA costs about $12 in an UBER, so we thought it was a great place to stay.
Review 28:I went to see my daughter off and when I returned at 9 on my check-out day (and check-out was at 12!!) my door was wide open and they were all inside getting my room ready for the next person!!! Check- out wasn't until 12!!! All my stuff was still in there!! I couldn't change because there was no privacy. I still had the room until 12, I feel they had no right to do that and I definitely felt very uncomfortable.
Review 29:The location & price was good. I went there with my 15 year old daughter and we stayed there because she wanted to do the LA touristy stuff before heading to Newport Beach, CA. We loved staying there & had a GREAT time!!!
Review 30:-Bad smell in the room. -Below average cleanliness -No parking, all parking are reserved. Had to walk long way. -Uncomfortable bed -Bad smell in the hallway from the trash room
Review 31:Nothing, just the location
Review 32:You have to check-in latest at 7pm, which wasn't stated. We were late and needed to find another accomodation for the first night. Fortunately we checked-in the other day and they didn't require us to pay the night.
Review 33:Spacious rooms, nice furnitured, quiet place
Review 34:The apartment was pretty clean, comfortable and had enough space for us. We were two women who traveled together and especially the huge bathroom with a lot of mirrors made it really easy to share the space. Also the kitchen was nice and well equipped. Will definitely book it again the next time I stay in LA.
Review 35:One minor complaint, it was difficult to find an empty parking slot that's not marked as "reserved", specially late at night, guest parking was far from our building and I had to walk a long distance almost every night from parking to building.
Review 36:The room (Studio Apartment) was really nice and very clean. The hotel is very calm and quiet with great location and the staff was very helpful and friendly.
Review 37:very far you must need car , near area have food or resurant 2k to 4k
Review 38:security on the village very good view on the moutain beautifull trees and facility
Review 39:Great location literally 2 minute drive to Universal Studios & Warner Bros Studio, very comfortable studio we stayed in, the room was very clean, would definitely come back here.
Review 40:The pool should stay open much longer in my opinion. The carpets in the corridor could be replaced, it would give a better first impression. But everything about the apartment itself was great. Parking spots might take some time to find, but it's not so bad.
Review 41:The apartment was great, the kitchen is completely equipped with everything you might need. The laundry facilities are awesome and cheap. We felt amazing in here.
Review 42:Lack of communication; only enough coffee for 1 day; unexpected maid service one day, which was fine, but what if I'd had money out, etc.; parking was a little tough
Review 43:Location; lots of room; clean
Review 44:Reception staff put me at ease after a long travel time , apartment was large , very clean , wrap around balcony with table and chairs , pool areas clean and tidy with good quality sun beds , chairs and sun tents , we could have lived there for a long time , cheers
Review 45:Unlike a hotel/motel this is a short stay apartment rental. We stayed for 3 nights. If you run out of toilet paper you have to buy it yourself. The studio we rented was small and adequate when compared to the 2 bedroom apartment.
Review 46:Property was close to Universal Studios Hollywood. It had a nice pool area with hot tub.. BBQs were available. The complex was gated. The 2 bedroom we rented was spacious and great!
Review 47:On my original paperwork from your company you had me in a top unit, which I prefer. The unit I was given was also on the main driveway and cars driving by all night. Children outside unit late at night (after 1am), making noise. Advertisement says "Fireplace in units" and my 1 bedroom unit had no fireplace
Review 48:The wifi was hard to connect to a mobile devise and cell signal was only ok for AT&T from our room but that's it.
Review 49:It was a very secure location and lots of amenities such as the store, pool and hot tub. The room was very clean and had everything one would need for a quick trip. Plus it's quite and not a noisy building for apartment.
Review 50:The structure is old, e built with materials containing asbestos. When you arrive they give you a notice about this situation suggesting of not beat the wall or ceiling. They told us the reclamation of hotel is not yet done. Perhaps it is never begun.
Review 51:Location very close to main attractions (Universal, walk of fame, ecc) and quietness (at slopes of mount Lee)
Review 52:The wash room is a little bit small. And it asks for 2.5% to pay via credit card. We pay cash for three rooms. While they asked us to pay for each room but don't have any change. Wish they can chane the stupid rule.
Review 53:Location is close to holleywood and close to free way. Quite convenient to visit main LA viewpoints (except Disneyland). According to our request, they prepared rolling bed in advance. And we can use the kitchen room for our breakfast and even dinner. The place is quiet. I also like the swim pool and BBQ place.
Review 54:I still find it utterly disgusting that a facility like oakwood restricts your local calls. This is the sole reason I will not recommend the facility to anyone. Calls within the US are free so why does oakwood restrict it's local calls? I also have a problem with the fact that only 5 devices can connect to Internet.
Review 55:Fabulous location. The kids loved the pool and hot tub.
Review 56:Shopping for supplies in resort is expensive and not many options around for quick shopping. If no car available it is very difficult to access.
Review 57:The flat was very clean, comfortable, and very well equipped for self catering. Beds were very comfortable. Resort contains all amenities (pool, jaccuzzi, sport, etc) and supporting facilities (laundry, etc) that allow extended stay.
Review 58:Needed to pay for washing machine as there was no one inside the apartment. Some of the f the apartments near by were so nosy during late night time hours specially during weekend
Review 59:Close proximity to attractions
Review 60:1) The smell of the apartment . 2)No washing machine in apartment, it just had the general washing machine which wasn't convenient 3) No kids pool
Review 61:Location Nice Staff Parking space
Review 62:We got the lowest flor,so we didnt have any view and couldn't really use the balcony.
Review 63:We were really surprised how big the area is,and such a good security. The apartment was really nice clean and perfect size, the kitchen had everything what you need. It was our last 7 night in LA,so it was really good to stay somewhere nice. Thank you
Review 64:The location was great. We did not have to get on the freeway to get to Universal Studios and we were only less than 2 miles away from Hollywood Blvd. The property is clean and staff is great. We had a studio apartment that accommodated the three of us with plenty of space and the presentation inside the unit was awesome. Very, very comfortable. I will definitely be coming back. I have already told my family and friends about this place.
Review 65:It is NOT a hotel, just resdiantual apartments. I wonder how they rate it as 3 stars if not a hotel!! Apartments are old.
Review 66:The location was excellent Friendly staff
Review 67:Two large beds for 4 adults and a 15 year old was not ideal. My 19 year old son had to sleep on the sofa. I assumed there would be a sofa bed.
Review 68:Fab location - very close to Warner Bros and Universal and 15-20 minutes to Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Well appointed, clean apartment. Lovely pool.
Review 69:The blinds in the bedrooms weren't great in the morning, so woke up early due to the sunlight. The convenience store was very over priced, so I'd give that a miss!
Review 70:Fantastic apartment with everything you need for self catering. Facilities were great too with free tennis rackets & balls. Rooms had great soundproofing as we couldn't a thing. Ideal location, great for families. My 15 & 8 year old loved it.
Review 71:No complaints.
Review 72:This was the perfect location for us. We were within 3-5 miles of almost everything we wanted to see. We had a 2br 2ba apartment which was clean and beds were super comfy and we would definitely stay here again.
Review 73:Staff changed the bed mattress but still not very comfortable . Needs more towels for pool since plane luggage is too small to bring extras.
Review 74:Pool and fun facilities for visiting 7 year old granddaughter and her parents
Review 75:Nothing bad but ask for non smoking room if you are non smokers. Also need a car as great location with a car but can't walk anywhere.
Review 76:Stayed in 2 bed apt, really spacious with each room having their own en-suite. Pool area excellent and a great place to chill at the end of a busy day.
Review 77:The fact they gave us a room top floor with a balcony and a view of the mountains. Lovely, friendly staff. Great apartment with kitchen. good size pool with a jacuzzi and a gym. a convient store with everything you need. was a really lovely place and it was hidden away from all the noise.
Review 78:Its very hard to find the check-in location given 3 gates. We went to 2 gates before coming to main gate. My suggestion please put directions to main gate for check-in on other 2 gates. Also car parking in the night is an issue. Most car parks are marked as reserved, so you need to make many rounds to find empty lot and walk (10-15 minutes) from your apartment. My suggestion is request a reserved parking lot next to your apartment while booking.
Review 79:Its was a beautiful two bedroom apartment with a location right next to Universal Studios. Convenient, clean and value for money for people traveling with family.
Review 80:A small restaurant or food outlet in the complex would have been great.
Review 81:A quite, clean place in beautiful setting of the hills. All the facilities we need were available
Review 82:Like living in a block of flats. First impression was terrible, walked into our block which had filthy carpets throughout hallways, smelt musty/mouldy and stale, dogs barking in other flats. In our rooms they were reasonably clean with fresh linen and new towels but as soon as you walked in the musty/mouldy smell hits you. The room look identical to the picture advertised but what you don't see is just how run down the place is, for the price they are charging we expected a polished finish, what we got was very unmodernised bathrooms/bedrooms. Old style electric cooker and other bits and pieces were old looking, wonky mirrors. Just very old feeling throughout. Rather than it being just a holiday complex, it was a large housing facility, it seems like most of the residents live here long term. I've stayed in 2* hotels that are just a 10th of the price that we paid to stay here, that were more glamorous than this.
Review 83:Good Location. Gated complex so it felt secure. Plenty of parking. Friendly Staff. Convenient on site shop.
Review 84:Didn't like that there was no breakfast to be found on Sunday or any other days. Too many speed bumps! Some crazy people living there.
Review 85:Location was pretty good. Wifi was good the whole time. The convenience store was real nice to have. Pool was great. Gym was small but had decent equipment. Free parking is always nice in LA.
Review 86:Business center was old and printer didn't work most of the time. The wifi was out a lot which was a huge problem for us. They had a lot of teens that would hang out in the parking lots and were very loud. Even very late at night. Security did nothing. Our building did not have an elevator. We were on the third floor. Getting our luggage up to our room and back down was very difficult. Staff was not helpful I this situation.
Review 87:Central to the places we needed to get to.
Review 88:We wish to have the house keeping more than once a week. You can charge us for that!
Review 89:I love sufficient facilities for living, even in shart stay. This apartment gave us the comfort like home. Thks!
Review 90:I needed a rollaway bed, as I have booked an apartment for 5 people, (2 adults, 3 in 20's kids) and there was only a king in one room and 2 singles in the other. They moved the apartment around for me to fit everything in, but the rollaway bed is not in a sleepable condition at all, especially for older kids/grownups. After bringing it under their attention they did remove it immediately and also credited the account.Even though the carpets in the hallways are "noise cancelling", it is not very clean and give a bad impression on the way to the apartment.
Review 91:We recently stayed for 1 week in a studio and when the rest of the family arrived transferred to a 2 bedroom apartment for another 12 days. Oakwood is so close to NYFA and Warner Bros, even Universal Studio's. The studio and 2 bedroom apartment is very spacious. Well equipped kitchen, everything you need.Very nice to be able to make your own meals if wanted. The washer and dryer in the apartment building 's prices were very decent. The staff is very nice and helpful, even when small problems was brought under their attention. It was solved asap. The small convenience shop is well equipped. The area is awesome especially with all the big trees, and out of the city feeling, but close to all mayor highways. It is so much better to stay there than in a hotel with very little personality for a longer stay than a week!
Review 92:No proper service, instead of Queen size beds there were single beds, no bed sheets, blankets, toiletries. ..had to call middle of nite for all the stuff yet poor services....dirty linens were still in the rooms used by some other guests....waso picked upon calling multiple times on the last day of stay (we stayed 4 days)
Review 93:Apartment was clean
Review 94:At least in my building the halls were somehow dark and not very clean. I understand this is not a regular hotel, but I would expect some kind of regular maintenance. Other than that the room was very clean.
Review 95:Located near Universal Studios and Hollywood main attractions. Very comfortable and clean (inside the room) Fair price
Review 96:I was in a group of five people and in our apartment there were only two king beds, so three people had to sleep in the same bed because there wasn't any other bed available. However, it was not a big problem for us.
Review 97:Staff very friendly, great apartment and facilities.
Review 98:Pls avoid the apartment that is close to the road, too many noise One of front counter service gentlemen (fat guy, call Exxxx), quite lazy, do not help his colleagues and customer proactively. Very impolite to customers. He wants to charge us one more day fee due to our check out was at 12:20pm with a very rude attitude. (The reason for the 20 mins late check out due to housekeeping came into our place at 11am and mess up some of our luggage on the checking out day) upon clarifying the situation, No apology from this gentleman.
Review 99:Very good service apartment In general, hotel employee are nice Enough space, convenient location Parking issue has been solved upon control card implement We stayed there for 10days, kids love this apartment We stayed in two bed rooms apartment
Review 100:Noisy at night, smell of smoke from downstairs neighbor. lack of toilet paper/paper towel refill Need allergy free rooms where no pets have stayed
Review 101:convenience of full kitchen near to where we wanted to go
Review 102:- Parking spots are too close to each other and hard to find in the early evening (sometimes even during the day) - buildings are sometimes a little tricky to find - we felt like beeing in a Labyrinth - anyhow this is not too bad and after 5 days we found the right entrance and Exit tracks from all gates ;) - Houskeeping did not work on time
Review 103:+ Very friendly personnel (Thanks Eddie for the first arrival @ night) + Safe location in a gated community + Very close to the Universal studios + Perfect support through phone
Review 104:Back in the day it was all furnished corporate apts. Now we saw lots of empty-ish apts with students or 20-somethings - felt like a college dorm. Parties were loud. Parking competitive. Some facilities were dirty - i.e. gym carpet.
Review 105:The staff was outstanding. The variety of the facilities was good - store, laundry, gym etc, though they were in various states of repair & cleanliness. Beds comfortable, apartment was decent. Grounds lovely.
Review 106:response to requests very slow it takes days to respond and the tv in bed room never repaired
Review 107:location and apartment were good have every thing you need
Review 108:The furnishings in the apartment left something to be desired. Bed in master bedroom was broken. Walls are thin and you could hear music every night from the adjoining unit.
Review 109:Proximity to Hollywood and tourist sites was very good. Staff was very good, pool area was very nice.
Review 110:The staff could use a bit more knowledge of the local surroundings and infrastructure, public transport, shopping, restaurants etc.Other than that a very pleasant experience.
Review 111:The swimming pool and amenities are great as is the location to the studios and a short but cheap taxi to Hollywood. A very safe and quiet place away from all the hustle and bustle of the surrounding attractions.
Review 112:We felt that the facility needed some work. Many walls had missing pictures with markings from where there was a picture before. Wallpaper was buckling on many of the walls in the hallways. Carpet in the apartment had the carpet tacks exposed and cut our feet. In the shower there was a broken towel rod. Pictures on internet were much more modernized than the apartment we stayed in. Also, housekeeping didn’t come until 6:30pm to clean our apartment.
Review 113:Loved how close we were to Universal Studios. Loved how the facility was gated and secure. We didn't feel like we were in the middle of the city, seemed much more relaxed than outside the facility. We liked the fact that we had a kitchen in the apartment and a sitting room, seemed more like home.
Review 114:We'll be back
Review 115:Bed and pillows
Review 116:The hotel is closed to Universal studio.
Review 117:Heating didn't work and wifi was a hassle on anything other than a PC, needs updating for mobiles and tablets
Review 118:Nice location
Review 119:the building was filty and the elevator was out of order
Review 120:location
Review 121:Nothing
Review 122:Great accommodations, surpassed expectations. Great staff, perfect. A+
Review 123:No breakfast available.
Review 124:Beautiful location, clean comfortable rooms.
Review 125:Location
Review 126:Parking at late night can be quite difficult.
Review 127:Bed was uncomfortable. bathroom needs renovation.
Review 128:Safe and quiet area. Friendly staff.
Review 129:You gave me a home away from home. Even though it was a short stay. The facility was better than I expected. I will be back.
Review 130:Could do with a refurb / good clean.
Review 131:Location for Hollywood and universal (very short drive to both)
Review 132:Small room Bed floor side ( now view )
Review 133:Bath tub is old, needs upgrade.
Review 134:The facility is nice.
Review 135:Not enough towels
Review 136:Everything
