Reviews for Venice Suites
Review 1:No coffee in suite... was tough getting up. Parking is sort of far for location but it is safe.
Review 2:amazing view, great PR, I felt safe and comfortable, staff was great and accomodating
Review 3:The room had a smell, but is something you can get use to it.
Review 4:The rooftop is amazing, it overlooks the ocean. Also, the bed was so comfortable. Staff over the phone seem very unfriendly but once my partnered and I arrived they were so nice.
Review 5:First, I did NOT have a bad experience, but I wish the heat worked a little better. And I couldn't tune in the radio - may have been just my lack of ability. But here's the thing: the floors and ceilings are thin. I could hear everything, and I mean everything, the couple upstairs was doing. You can fill in the blanks there. Perhaps small rugs in the rooms to alleviate this issue? I don't know - not the owner's fault - I think it's the fault of the original builder back in...1902 or whatever. I will stay here again though.
Review 6:The location is as good as it can get in Venice Beach; the building itself, some will not like the old-fashioned elevator but I love the vintage experience of this hotel - would not trade it for those newer hotels in Santa Monica; the kitchen was awesome, beyond my expectations; the bed was comfortable; the room was clean, decorated in such a way that made it feel airy and light, and the view cannot be beat. The staff was patient and nice. Love the wifi of course. Great place to check in and get some work done, too!
Review 7:Everything was great!
Review 8:The bed was so comfortable! I had slept at 3 hotels before this one and the other beds were horrible. This one was soft and smelled super clean:):)
Review 9:The staff is not there after hours so if you lose your keys you're screwed.
Review 10:The location is phenomenal. Just waking up to the ocean sunrise was amazing. You get a lot of privacy and you're pretty much left alone. There is furniture and a grill on the roof for your leisure. The room is a decent size and the bed is so comfortable. Worth the cost.
Review 11:Since the location was right on the board walk it was noisy during the night. It didn't bother me much, because I could hear the ocean waves and the air was beautiful Parking is a bit far away, but wasn't a problem
Review 12:The location is right on the board walk
Review 13:We were on 3rd floor and the guests above us came home as we went to bed. Very noisy from them just walking around - they weren't having a party but it was impossible to sleep. Lucky we were there for one night only!!
Review 14:Great location and exactly as described
Review 15:No cleaning service in the room We are rented for 2 nights and nobody cleans the rooms Also we can't sleep early morning people from the hotel runing and jumping make noises upstairs really bad bad
Review 16:The location
Review 17:The location was amazing and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. Quiet at night and great roof top with a great view.
Review 18:Mattress was on the soft side.
Review 19:Right on the beach, near lots of restaurants and shops, the hotel was charming, nice roof-lounge area with beautiful views. Clean and nicely done rooms.
Review 20:No parking. Walk to and from parking garage 5 minutes away, although you can park and unload at the hotel.. Not a big inconvience for us.
Review 21:Location, loved the suite, open and sunny, very clean. The staff was friendly. Just an overall pleasant experience.
Review 22:We asked for and paid for an ocean front room. We did get this type ofroom. We were on the first floor and on the boardwalk. Not being fromCalifornia, we were not aware that there is a huge( huge) homelesscommunity that lives on the Venice boardwalk. They seem to be veryactive at night with music, conversation and fights all night into themorning. The unit did not have ac so we had to keep the windows open.Although this homeless commununity seems to be made up of artisans thatchoose to live on the beach, it still a bit scary. There were at least 3boom boxes on the highest volume sorrounding our room- playing anddancing all night.. There was a group right outside our side windowtalking all night and the police showed up a few times. There are nosecurity bars on the windows just window screens. This was concerningsince the windows were easily accesible from the boardwallk. Needless tosay, we did not get any sleep and were so happy that we only booked forone night. The hotel itself is very nice and we imagine that the roomson the upper floors do not have as much of a noise/security problem.
Review 23:The size of the room was great. Had all the amenities of a studioapartment.
Review 24:The pull out couch had some stains that made me alittle nervous but it was a neat couch. Parking was a bit far especially late at night.
Review 25:The location was awesome. The roof deck was our favorite. Our room was clean and pretty. The building was new and clean. Staff was nice. There is so much to do right out your front door. Next time we stay for a week.
Review 26:The staff member I dealt with was horrible and rude. There was also no air conditioning and it was so hot in the room that it was difficult to sleep.
Review 27:The location was excellent.
Review 28:Only one minor issue was that the bathroom sink failed to drain properly but no big problem. Bed is slightly uncomfortable.
Review 29:Well designed room overlooking Venice Beach.....the roof top hang out was an awesome spot to watch the sunset. Staff were super friendly and helpful.
Review 30:Only disappointment was the floor not cleaned (esp dirts/stickiness from under the table) have to wear shoes.
Review 31:Fantastic location. Comfortable bed, all kitchen utilities available. Secure car park not far. Lovely stroll along beach in both directions n watch beautiful sunset every night
Review 32:The service was fabulous...the person at the desk went above and beyond to help us get a taxi (get them to call you one rather than using yellow cabs!). Lovely location, clean and with great rooms. Will be staying there again if we're back in Venice!
Review 33:Great location with a diverse mix of people around, including some really good musicians! No concerns about homeless people, yes there were some around, however they didn't bother us and we always felt perfectly safe. We really liked the building which has a great feel and has been sympathetically renovated to retain its character. Our room was very light and airy, with plenty of windows (with insect screens) - these, plus an efficient and quiet ceiling fan kept us cool, so no problem with lack of air con. Front desk guys couldn't have been more helpful.
Review 34:there was no air conditioning, there was a fan above the bed but when we out it on full power it wasn't great, we woke us very warm and sweating. the staff did explain why there didn't have air con, not their fault but still not great.
Review 35:the location was fantastic and the view from the roof. the bald guy on reception was great helping us with ideas where to go and how to get there and giving us a map.
Review 36:Parking was a bit of a bummer, but didn't bother us as we had bikes
Review 37:I loved that it was on the boardwalk. The rooms were beautiful and the bed was super comfy. I will MOST definitely stay here again. The staff were very welcoming as well.
Review 38:No air con. Although were aware of this from the information clearly printed. Bit noisy even late at night especially since you sleep with windows open. Tend to get woken up by the refuse and delivery lorry very early in morning. Only minor thing but the BBQ on the roof could do with a decent light overhead so you can see what you are cooking is done rather than rely on your mobile phone torch !
Review 39:Great location right on Venice beach. Excellent facilities with plenty of room. Good space in rooms. Had a room with separate bedroom and lounge area with the sofa bed which was more than adequate for third person. Staff very helpful and polite. Roof facility great. Built in BBQ very useful and fully equipped. Clean and tidy but decor in general is a bit dated. It's not a hotel so don't expect that sort of service. It's more a good standard hostel type of facility. You are expected to leave as you find and take the rubbish out etc when you leave. Regarding parking. Yes as stated it is off site but only a short 5/10 minute walk away and easy to find. Travelled with older parents and they didn't have any issue with the walk to the car. It wasn't that far. Loading and unloading on arrival and departure is expected to be done promptly as the parking bay next door is small and quite cramped with parked cars but more than acceptable bearing in mind the benefits of the location of the place. 10 mins to unload check in and get suitcases into rooms is more than enough time to get basics done before having to move car to somewhere else.
Review 40:They're always homeless people living near the boardwalk at SantaMonica, so don't be surprised and be aware. But as long asyou're not wandering alone at 2 in the morning, they reallyaren't agressive or dangerous... You can definitely go out to eat orgrab a drink without worrying!!!
Review 41:Location on Santa Monica Boardwalk, clean suites (with full kitchen),nice rooftop where you can go watch the sunset!
Review 42:The lift was old but stair access was fine so not a problem for us.
Review 43:Right on the beach and easy to walk to shops, cafes and restaurants. The staff were very helpful with suggestions of where to go and what to do. We had partial ocean view on a higher floor and it was light, spacious and airy. Kitchen was well equipped. We hired bikes and enjoyed exploring the Venice canals. We enjoyed the vibe of the area and we are a senior couple.
Review 44:We didn't like the view of the alleyway, We were located on the first floor, so We didn't like that you heard every movement and banging coming from second floor. We didn't like the loud noises at night, made it really hard to enjoy a quiet sleep. Was told after checking in that the person before us had not checked out of the room we had, so he may come knocking on are door and asking for his things. Since we where located on the first floor, corner room, next to the locked door that you needed to have a hotel key to enter. We had a stranger banging on are window at 5:30 am.
Review 45:I absolutely loved that it was right there by the beach and located near restaurants and shops.
Review 46:There is only ceiling fans - no air-conditioning - so we left the windows open to cool off at night. Of course this led to outside noise problems. You can also hear sounds from other rooms.
Review 47:The location is right on Venice Beach with several café and pub-like restaurants nearby. the Santa Monica Pier is only a 10 minute bus ride away. We did the Star Line Hop-On-Hop-Off bus tour for 48 hours. The nearest stop was only a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel and the various loops take you to Santa Monica, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Downtown Los Angeles and Marina Del Ray. It was a great way to see a lot of the sites in a short period. The hotel studio room, although older had a very comfortable pillow top bed, a kitchen and was more spacious than a regular hotel room.
Review 48:How unsafe the location is. Screaming people all night. Police presence all the time. Research of the locations shows a lot of crime in the area. Roaches running on the boardwalk all night. Elevator barely works. No one offers to help you carry bags. The parking is 1 mile away. Can't safely unload. They demand payment the day you arrive in full. Before they let you see the room. Overall it is what it is. We won't be back. The Air was so opposite of this place.
Review 49:Beautiful scenery if you look past homeless from 7p-11a
Review 50:rather lound if you stay on a weekend night (there's a bar with lound music until 3am next door), rather small queen size bed
Review 51:spacious room, fully equipped kitchen, beachfront location, restaurants in walking distance
Review 52:No a/c ,, I literally couldn't sleep .. I even opened all thewindows for fresh air but instead of fresh air I kept hearing homelesspeople screaming and yelling so sleeping is almost impossible trust me.Also the parking is far .. which you will need at least 8 minutes to walk and u must cross a trafic light to get there so imagine crossing a traffic light with your bags ughhh . i stayed at many many hotels the best ones and the poor ones. but honestly if a hotel doesnt have A/C and a near by parking then avoid it.
Review 53:Best thing in this hotel is only the location thats it
Review 54:Bed terribly uncomfortable- soft and lumpy. Noisy banging of person walking in heels or noisy shoes above my room for hours from around 9am-12pm...
Review 55:Right on the beach, clean room, good lockbox system, clear parking instructions, 12pm checkout
Review 56:I was excited that they have a roof top available to the guest but ,when I went up a homeless person is sleeping and one of the manager did not ask her to leave while I am having coffee with my husband.... The same thing the next day...She was there again..
Review 57:The place is pretty ,accessible OK...The housekeeping are very friendly.. When I check in I find the the manager of the facility SNOB... Not a crack of smile/gesture...
Review 58:A little bit small room. A lot of homeless people outside the hotel.
Review 59:The Venice Suites are located on the Venice beach. Rooms are clean and comfortable.all processes in the hotel are well organized.
Review 60:VERY NOISE PLACE ( if you want to sleep, look for some place else), from the bedroom you can heard nois frompeople talking on the street, from the neighbors, from the cars oh the street, impossible to have a good sleeping night. Besides there is a horrible staff (the guy from reception looked like he has doing us a favor just for answering any question). I think that it was one of the worst staff I have ever seen.
Review 61:good location (if you looking for a place on Venice's boardwalk), good wi-fi, large room
Review 62:It's not really a dislike but just a laid back atmosphere where the office is closed from 8pm till 8am.
Review 63:Location was excellent. We needed an extra bed and got one. If you want to live the Venice beach life for a couple of days at a good price, then book this hotel.
Review 64:I was just pleasantly surprised by how nice the room was. The first floor hallway is a little ominous. And as there is almost no place to park to unload your bags that's a little bit of a problem. Tried to park in the alley and just drop my bags off but a typical California Robocop pulled up and threatened me with the ticket. God I miss the Golden State when it was golden. The staff was very nice and very accommodating. And there is absolutely no way you could get any closer to the sand.
Review 65:It's still very pricy for what you get, considering there is no breakfast and parking has to be paid separately (but the truth whole área is very expensive)
Review 66:Great staff, big room and very clean. Perfect location in Venice, on a walking ditance to Santa Monica pier and right in front of the Ocean.
Review 67:We checked in late at night and around the hotel was full of homelessand drunk people. No one was at the reception neither in the morning. Noid required to enter in the hotel. I will say unsafe. A stink of peearound the hotel, disgusting
Review 68:Very noisy at all hours of the day and night. The advertised city views are largely of the buildings next door!
Review 69:In the thick of it on Venice beach and the rooftop was great.
Review 70:Office is closed at 8pm, so if you forget your key or demagnetized on accident you will be locked out. This made me nervous.
Review 71:Location is amazing! Room was adorable!
Review 72:Office closes so be careful if you plan to checkin at night. Sometimes there is outside noise becasue it's right on Venice boradwalk. There is no airconditioning but not sich a problem becasue of the beach breeze.
Review 73:We stayed at room 21 with the beach view fantastic. You can see everybody walking down Venice beach and all the different tribes.
Review 74:Our ordered rollaway bed wasn't in the room which caused us inconvenience as we checked in very late. This was immediately put right when we told the office with big apologies.
Review 75:You walk thhrough the front door onto the beach, perfect location. Apartment fully equipped and very comfortable. A great place to stay.
Review 76:The homeless people were loud at night, but they don't harass or beg the tourists.
Review 77:Beautiful beach! Great ocean view, Great location, close to Santa Monica Pier also. Common areas are well kept. Nice roof terrace/lounge area
Review 78:Venice Beach can be really loud sometimes at night. After 9-10 pm it is not advised to walk alone. The studio had a fan. The week I stayed it was not that warm. But I can imagine when it's really hot, you'd miss an airco.
Review 79:I had a Queen Deluxe Studio and this was more spacious than I thought. Kitchen was fully equipped, with microwave, large fridge. Bed was really good and the bathroom was spacious and the shower was really nice as well. Location was awesome. Some view at Venice Beach.
Review 80:My daughter woke up with raised red welts all over her body, most likely caused from bug, or spider bite. Parking was not on site, and a futher walk then we were told.
Review 81:View
Review 82:Some of the vendors in the t-shirt places tried to rip you off because you were a tourist. Some would charge $50 for a shirt while another store would charge you $25 for the same exact shirt. Some areas of the Venice Beach boardwalk were dirty (trash laying all around). We probably would not stay at Venice next time we go back.
Review 83:Location was right on the beach and accessible to a lot of places nearby.
Review 84:Noise People sleeping in street No coffee or tea in room
Review 85:Wonderful staff Gorgeous room Fabulous shower Luxurious beautiful towels Beach towel also Roof top terrace Luggage store Easy check-in, after hours swipe card Fantastic bedding
Review 86:The location is excellent--it's right on the beach; big, clean rooms with kitchens and large bathrooms. You have to keep in mind that you are coming to a very popular destination that is chock full of beach-goers, freaks, and people watchers, so it's not going to be a quiet location. The rooms that overlook the beach are fantastic, but so are the ones that are at the back of the property, which are less expensive. This is a wonderful place that is right at the heart of the action and it is well maintained and a delight to stay at.
Review 87:N/A
Review 88:The location/view is unparalleled! Privacy was respected, suite was clean and comfortable, and the kitchen appliances, dishes/utensils were VERY MUCH appreciated. Staff was friendly. I felt completely safe/secure.
Review 89:Really enjoyed having a meal on the roof terrace - great view and comfortable surroundings. The staff was very helpful when we had a couple of tiny glitches.
Review 90:This is in no way a complaint, but just a warning that you will hear noise coming from the strip and you will hear your neighbors above you walking around and you are a long way out from LA.
Review 91:Great central area to all that Venice Beach has to offer with all its characters and characteristics. Loved the long boardwalks that went for miles and miles. Walking distance to city centre and Santa Monica boardwalk, whilst very close to an unlimited choice of eateries. The rooftop was amazing especially to relax those tired feet, have a drink and roam the net with free wifi.
Review 92:Access to beach and Santa monica. Great place to be part of the happenings in Venice beach. Close enough to LAX. Close to Hollywood and other attractions.
Review 93:5-10 minute walk to parking. No AC, but didn't need it with the breeze.
Review 94:Right on the beach. Close to Santa Monica beach. Close to restaurants, coffee shops, CVS, etc.
Review 95:Our flight was later in the day, check out was noon, they locked our luggage up for us, however when we went to pick our luggage up, both of us needed to use the restroom, which they would not let us. I had to find a public restroom which is not close to the VS.
Review 96:the fact it is right on the ocean walk, we didn't rent a car, everything was right there for us to walk to.
Review 97:The attitude of one of the owners wasn't the greatest there was a misunderstanding on my behalf but I'm still a customer and that's the most important part. He was ready to let me leave even though I already paid for the room. But, Carl kept me interested when he found a solution to my problem. So all was well.
Review 98:My wife and I are a young married couple and enjoyed every bit of the facilities itself. The view is beautiful "the price was right" and the room was in excellent condition a perfect example of "home away from home ". Definitely a good choice.
Review 99:I read reviews and did research four months before picking this location. I traveled with my husband, my mom, mom mom's boyfriend, and my two year old daughter. We traveled during the week. The hotel itself was perfect for us! It has more of a "Home-away-from-home" feel. The one bedroom was large enough for all of us. The kitchen came fully stocked with the supplies we needed, we just had to bring the food! I cannot wait to stay here again. Thank you so much Venice Suites for making our first official family vacation so wonderful!
Review 100:Very spacious studio aparmtment with full kitchen was perfect! The view is unmatched! Right on the beach in the perfect spot between the bohemian vibe of venice beach and calmer santa Monica state beach.
Review 101:Parking is a problem. They offer parking that's located 5 blocks from the place. The parking is hard to find around there but I preferred to use public parking on the beach rather than driving to a parking lot of additional $10 a day.
Review 102:The room was very clean and spacious and it was literally on the beach and right in the heart of Venice
Review 103:They charge even more than the advertised price plus $10 a day to park half a mile away. It was chilly too and couldn't get the heat to work. Homeless people all around :(
Review 104:Amazing view of the ocean although you're quite a way from actually being on it. Close to beach activities, shops and restaurants
Review 105:Expensive. No AC, but we did not need any. No parking nearby, but for an amount pr day, you get a permit to park in a garage 2 blocks away. 10 minutes of walk. It was no hazzle. Only real bad thin is the noise from street musicians who tend to play right outside, on the same spot, every day. But you can allways shut the windows.
Review 106:Lovely rooms with hardwood floors. Looked like the entire room was new, even if the hallways seem old. Friendly staff. Free beach towels. Free internet. Awesome roof terrace with a view like nowhere else, sunbeds, sofa, chairs, barbecue, and so on.
Review 107:Venice beach can be pretty noisy during the day, lots of homeless people wandering around although nobody hassled us and frequent security/police patrols. No air-conditioning but good sea breezes and decent ceiling fan but if you want to shut the noise out for daytime nap, could be tricky. Apartment clean but few dusty corners.
Review 108:Really helpful staff, nice light airy studio suite with partial view of beach/sea, comfortable bed, large fridge/freezer & dishwasher in kitchen, small elevator for luggage in case you stay on higher floors, walking out of front door right on to beach.
Review 109:We had people above our room that were running up and down the room and there's absolutely no sound insulation anywhere. We could hear them talk / fight. And they were up very early to continue the noise. You can hear the traffic and people on the street loud and clear even with windows closed. The owners transferred us to a quiet room in a different building the next day which was helpful. But the whole experience was very tiring.
Review 110:The location is great, it's right on the beach.
Review 111:Guests definitely need their "big-city game face" as the locals can be aggressive. The "city view" is actually an alley and the walls of adjacent buildings. We didn't really care about a beach view, but if you do, make sure you specify which you want.
Review 112:We loved the location and the staff was courteous and efficient. The accommodation was essentially a one bedroom apartment so early risers can go to the living room and let others sleep. :-) We also loved the Candles Restaurant, two doors away.
Review 113:I can't stay here forever. That sucks.
Review 114:When I walked into our ocean front apartment I actually gasped. It was not what I was expecting. This is such a picturesque apartment block with bright, clean rooms with a real 'beach' feel. It's the perfect beach getaway. The view of Venice Beach is never ending and you get all the vibrance of the street below just by sitting at the front window and soaking it all in.
Review 115:Not much to say, staff were easy going and efficient. Not a lot of chit chat but kind providing any detail you would ever need.
Review 116:The location was unbeatable and the patio was one of the main reasons we chose this space. As pictured, the front door is basically on the sidewalk and we were able to walk everywhere. People mentioned parking was far - it's about 3-4 blocks and not a big deal at all. Can park car by building for loading. Room was bigger than expected.
Review 117:The website allowed us to book for 2 adults and 3 children (aged 15, 13 and 11), however the room only had a queen bed and a sofa bed. When I asked for the extra bed, as there were 5 of us, I got a lecture on how the room only accommodated 4 people and they had a limited number of rollaways. I said that the website allowed me to book for 5 persons. The manager said it would allow me to book for 10 people. Silly me that I would presume that if I book for 5 people, and the website allowed me to book for 5 people, that I would expect bedding for 5 people!
Review 118:Location, location, location. Also, we had the top floor front room and the view was magnificent, which made up for the manager's prickly nature.
Review 119:The location is fabulous! The star was very helpful and kind!we were warned about the safety of Venice Beach and were pleasantly surprised at how safe we felt. When we return to California we will spend the entire time at Venice Suites.
Review 120:Great room with everything you need to feel at home. Between the location and view from the roof top patio it's one of the best values in Venice.
Review 121:staff was excellent, kind and knowledgeable. Parking easy and room was super clean! We loved this place. Traveled with 4 11-14 year olds, great view, safe and comfortable! Highly recommend. Kids had a blast
Review 122:no complaints
Review 123:definitely gives off that home & comfort vibe and is in the perfect location! awesome laid back staff and a great environment all together.
Review 124:Located right on Venice Beach. Stayed in a 1 bedroom (room 31) with ocean front view. Perfectly appointed, pristine accommodations. Easy check in-check out. Underground parking nearby is an easy walk. Rooftop lounge is a nice addition. There is nothing to dislike about Venice Suites. A well-run establishment that satisfied our every need. Will return.
Review 125:The location is perfect. I was able to sit by the window and people watch. The room was gorgeous. I slept like a baby. Was able to cook and have my morning coffee on the rooftop.
Review 126:Could hear the people above me walking around as the floors made a lot of noise.
Review 127:No hassles, simple 24/7 swipe card access. All basic kitchen facilities were available. Helpful and friendly staff. For the money this is a great setup and I would stay there again.
Review 128:The Wi-Fi is not good. One day I could not even send simple emails.
Review 129:Very comfortable and clean. Roof top terrace was very relaxing with excellent view.
Review 130:Load music most nights till late , lots of street peddlers, hippies and homeless. With kids , I didn't feel safe being alone.
Review 131:We had Ocean view, the beach at our front door. Tons of shopping , music playing and bars / restaurants . Walking distance from Santa monica pier and muscle beach
Review 132:The second bed (sofa) was extremely hard to sleep on. There were construction works, refurbishment going on in the room above us from 6AM in the morning. I wish we would have known that before.
Review 133:Location was great.
Review 134:Value for money, this is great. The room was very confortable, and the location very interesting, although not for everyone... Venice beach can be "diferent".
