Reviews for Best Western Plus Inn on the Park
Review 1:The walls must be paper thin because when the bars closed I could hear the neighbors and it sounded liked they were in my room. They woke my friend and I both up about 2:30 in the morning and kept us up till they passed out and we had to get up at 6 to run 13 miles. Was not happy about that.
Review 2:Traveled with a friend to run the Madison Half Marathon. It was close to the start and finish.
Review 3:The hotel is under construction but the rooms were clean and comfortable.
Review 4:We were in Madison for the marathon. The starting line was out the front door! The finish was less than a block away. You can't get better than that!
Review 5:View was awful for the price I paid for one night! I would NOT come back, I would rather go to a less expensive hotel and walk farther.Waiting for our car to leave took forever and many people waiting in line for this also. not enough staff for this
Review 6:comfortable bed
Review 7:Pretty expensive (200 with taxes) for a tiny room. Finding a hotel room or BandB on a Fall weekend is tricky in Madison. Air BandB had some much less expensive options.
Review 8:The location is great, right on the Square and you can easily get around on foot. We werr able to find street parling easily for our car to avoid hotel parking fee.
Review 9:Under major construction until next summer.(2016). Should be 1/2 price in the meantime. Breakfast not included. Not even complementary coffee!! Scaffolding with people on it outside window. Danger - walking through posted hard hat only, do not enter area - it was the ONLY way to enter building. Don't they have lawyers? Close down, speed up renovation whole empty. Instead of putting public at risk.
Review 10:The website said the shuttle could be used for trips to campus but this was highly frowned upon and not possible 1/2 times. The overnight guests by the pool were extremely loud and out of control in the middle of the night for a long time.
Review 11:The location was great by State Street and campus.
Review 12:Room was way to cluttered, should remove some of the furniture. Open up the room. Top of sink splash guard had not been cleaned in a LONG time.
Review 13:Location, Location, location. That's why we stay at this hotel.
Review 14:On the plus side the hotel offers valet parking. On the negative side, the hotel only allows valet parking. That made it inconvenient to retrieve items from the car. Really, just a minor issue, but an issue.
Review 15:The location was perfect for us! Right across the street from the State Capitol and in the heart of downtown with easy walking distance to shops and restaurants.
Review 16:Wish it were less expensive as we would like to return monthly.
Review 17:Walked to everything and totally loved the city! Barely used the car, can't wait to return!
Review 18:Room was disappointing toilet seat would not stay up. Very few plug for charging electronics. In room 402 the only accessible plug did not work. Inadequate self space in bathroom We would not stay at this hotel again
Review 19:Restaurant was very good
Review 20:Carried breakfast to room. It was stacked in a bag, in transparent plastic, covered containers. Coffee, milk & OJ in paper cups. Plastic utensils wrapped paper napkins. Not the quality I was expecting.
Review 21:Service of Valet, Front Desk & Dining Room. The bed was OMG wonderful. Room was nice.
Review 22:Checked in and found a dirty pair of men's underwear on the floor. Makes me wonder about cleanliness. Did move us, but wasn't an upgrade.
Review 23:Enjoyed the parking convenience. Right on the square by the Capitol. Near state street.
Review 24:Not fresh coffee in restaurant Thursday mid morning.
Review 25:Location, view, cleanliness, quiet, sharp clear television, and a pleasant, helpful staff, everyone included. We had very good introduction to Wisconsin's capitol and citizens.
Review 26:We requested the first floor or lower floors (we were given the eighth floor) one of us does not like heights.
Review 27:We like the room, the staff, and the hotel.
Review 28:Breakfast was very expensive $15 per person for a breakfast buffet is much too high. Didn't even give it a look. There are great places for breakfast at a much better price within walking distance.
Review 29:Great location with plenty to do within walking distance. I will return.
Review 30:When we first checked in Best Western tried to give us a different rate than promised by $30-40/ night. Luckily I had my confirmation from Booking.com and the rate was honored.
Review 31:We initially were put in a tiny room about half the size of a standard hotel room, right next to the elevator. The front desk said they would move us the next day when there was more rooms available. The manager kept his word and not only moved us, but upgraded us to a much larger room with a beautiful view. Since it was so cold outside we spent more time in the hotel room than usual and really appreciated having such a nice room.
Review 32:It was bitter cold out and the room never got warm no matter how high we turned the thermostat. Wifi was down for most of the evening.
Review 33:Location, clean room, price, quiet
Review 34:Staff seemed a bit unenthused but it was the weekend. For the price even though location is great, it would be nice to have a small breakfast type buffet open to guests. (Coffee, Toast, Juice) Yes, there is a restaurant but very boring and set-up like a off shoot of the main lobby.
Review 35:The location is second to none if you want to spend time on the Capital Square and have quick access to State St. We took our daughter overnight to shop for her birthday! It was great to have a close location to make pit stops throughout the day. But wasn't much at the hotel to do to want to hang around.
Review 36:Nice big rooms in a great location. The beds were comfortable and things looked and felt clean. I loved the valet parking, and especially the great view of the Capitol!
Review 37:The other people I traveled with, who stayed in three other rooms, did not get attractive rooms. Two were boxy and small and poorly laid out, and the bathrooms were exceptionally small. The other was large, but not particularly attractive. Also, none of their rooms offered much of a view. Despite the disparity between the rooms, we were all paying around the same price. As for my room, the one morning I was there, I had no hot water in the bathroom. When I called the front desk, it was fixed in less than 10 minutes, which I appreciated.
Review 38:I liked my room, #624, because it was laid out in an attractive and spacious way and there was a big and lovely view of the skyline, which included the Capitol. I especially liked the curved windows. The staff is very friendly and helpful and allowed us to be flexible about our checkout time. The free parking is a plus, as well as the complimentary shuttle to the airport, which is a great perk. It was nice to have a restaurant and bar in the hotel. Also, the location of this hotel could not be better.
Review 39:We didn't like the directions online for how to get there. Most hotels offer breakfast. The Novotel West in London I will never forget because of the incredible breakfast. You should offer breakfast.
Review 40:We liked the location and the cleanliness of the hotel. And the little room off the lobby with the computers.
Review 41:I thought the valet service could have been expedited better as I had to wait in the street until they moved cars out of the way.
Review 42:The view of the Capitol was beautiful. Easy to walk to area businesses. Clean and quiet hotel.
Review 43:The woman at the desk upon our arrival was genuinely annoyed and offended that we had gotten such a view for such a cheap rate and reminded us that "we should not expect that room the next time we book at that rate.
Review 44:We got a great room at a great price with a view of the Capitol! Close to EVERYTHING!
Review 45:Stayed there for one night, it has free valet parking, made me feel cool. :) Its a great hotel overall, beautifull location, right in downtown, clean rooms, cool little details like USB charger in walls. I was happy with my stay.
Review 46:The hotel has an "old" smell, and our room smelled like someone smoked in there. The rooms are small and window smaller, so you barely get any light in there.
Review 47:Great location, love the free parking for guests.
Review 48:The facility just feels old and tired. Besides having a superb location for events downtown, I will look elsewhere next time in town.
Review 49:Staff was attentive -- both valet and front desk were helpful and speedy.
Review 50:There was some type of motor running right next to the room, didn't run constantly, but intermittently enough I kept the tv on to prevent it from waking me up
Review 51:Room was good, lived the fridge.
Review 52:Convenient location, easy walking distance to all our destinations! Visit Madison often, and haven't stayed in the Best Western Plus Inn on the Park in a few years - very nice to return there!!
Review 53:Furniture and room a bit outdated. We had a terrace which was AMAZING! But unfortunately it was covered in spider webs and spiders. On the plus that also meant no mosquitos.
Review 54:Location, location and location!! Oh yeah... and parking included. That gets an extra star.
Review 55:Facade is dated....need to freshen up exterior finishes. As an architect I can see ways to bring it up to a more current appeal....emphasize the horizontal spandrels at the curved portion between the windows......bring more openness to the first floor entrance and glassed areas ....perhaps colorful awnings at the outdoor eating space over the walk. How about awnings over the "Punched" window openings above at the guest room windows?
Review 56:Location, location, location! Pool & work out room including open space for friends & relatives to visit
Review 57:Room was small. Hall light was very bright and on all night and lit up the room a bit.
Review 58:Very clean and new. Convenient and easy valet parking. Quick and courteous valet service. Nice shower head. Nice air quality.

Review 88:Nice Pool and workout room.
Review 89:Wish there was a hot tub
Review 90:Proximity to great restaurants and sites
Review 91:Located close to State Street, great restaurants and bars. Best location in Madison, especially for the cost.
Review 92:Needs a little work, cosmetic work!
Review 93:Nothing I didn't like.
Review 94:Near downtown
Review 95:The lack of included breakfast of any kind.
Review 96:The location was excellent and the valet parking and baggage holding was a huge plus.
Review 97:The place itself is getting a little tired.
Review 98:Staff was gracious, from valet to desk to housekeeping, and the location is hard to beat!
Review 99:Pool area didn't offer a hot tub; no breakfast included in the room price; no fan in the bathroom; room ventilation fan was noisy.
Review 100:Sometimes noisy during the night with other guests opening and closing doors, speaking loudly
Review 101:Very central and generally pleasant staff
Review 102:Mattress was too firm - not comfortable sleep
Review 103:older hotel, carpets smelled
Review 104:Locations
Review 105:Mattress was hard and very uncomfortable. Poor sleeping.
Review 106:Friendly and attentive staff. Clean room.
Review 107:Lack of free breakfast
Review 108:computer room
Review 109:The only negative was that the view from the top floor is dissappointing given the proximity to the capital.
Review 110:The room was big and comf. The location is the best.
Review 111:Valet parking only was a hassle. Carpeting in room was old and worn. Room was small for the price.
Review 112:I was charged a different amount from the rate of reservation on booking.com
Review 113:clean and comfortable
Review 114:Close to the capitol and State Street
Review 115:Small room Noise from adjacent maids station Bed not comfortable
Review 116:Location Cleanliness
Review 117:The location is FANTASTIC and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 118:After reading the reviews I expected more.
Review 119:Hotel rooms are dated and bathrooms are very small. It was difficult to get ready because the bathroom had the only mirror in the hotel room. Not worth the standard rate they charged...
Review 120:Wonderful location on Capitol square. Perfect!
Review 121:Our view was kind of a bummer. I would have loved a view of the capitol for the lake, but we saw a strip of bars down below and the lights from them leaked through the curtains a bit.
Review 122:Loved that is was so close to the capitol building and the Farmers Market. Loved the valet parking and that everything we wanted to do was walking distance (I have driving in Madison!)
