Reviews for Tomahawk Lodge
Review 1:The very uncomfortable bed , weak WiFi and 1990's TV. Pet accommodation was great...
Review 2:We wanted a moderate priced motel with few expectations and that is what we got. You get what you pay for.
Review 3:The bed was uncomfortable.
Review 4:The motel is not new, but very clean and well maintained. The receptionist was very nice. The motel states that they do not offer breakfast. However you can pick up free pastry and coffee in the morning.
Review 5:I really liked everything, WiFi was alittle slow but not too and the owner was so friendly and helpful and inside and out was very clean and neat Love the place and will go there again when in the area
Review 6:We found 3 live bugs within the hour of our arrival. So I would suggest you have pest control sprays regularly to prevent this problem. We were sad the pool was not open. We ended up not having time to use it but If we would have come with grandkids they would have been very disapointed. Would like a microwave available out front in lobby. bedspread and blanket had stains on them and that always makes you feel uncomfortable. Your guest soap needs to be upgraded to a little nicer brand.
Review 7:The manager front desk lady ( Sorry, I cant remember her name) was soooo great and helpful. We paid for budget inn and were very satisfied with what we paid for. Room smelled good and not a stale smoky smell that you usually get with older motels.
Review 8:So close to the road, we were afraid we'd hear traffic during the night. Did not happen! We had two good nights' sleep! Nice little town and some good restaurants.
Review 9:No disappointments
Review 10:Visiting kids/g-kids for 7/4thWas easy & convenient. Our 4th stay here. Great value. No frills(or pool) Lot clear of any previously noted stationary cars.
Review 11:The room was not a good value for the money. It was very small. The Wifi is public, so not secure. The breakfast was just coffee and small individually packaged rolls. The pool was covered and unavailable. Probably wouldn't stay there again.
Review 12:The staff was friendly. The rooms were very clean.
Review 13:The Proprietress was just wonderful, kind, and helpful. We loved the Tomahawk, a great Cortez find that is so much cooler than those silly chain motels. Highly recommended!
Review 14:Owners were very friendly. Made our dog very welcome, and turned us onto a wonderful walking area just off the property. Also kept the Rome on each side of us empty which helped with the dog.
Review 15:The carpet badly needs replacing. One of the sheets was dirty -- it appeared as though the sheets weren't changed.
Review 16:The motel is pet-friendly, and is easy to find. I like the idea of independent motel ownership as opposed to chains, but it appears that they are having trouble competing with the chains.
Review 17:The owner/manager is very nice and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. We have stayed here in the past and will do so in the future. I've recommended it to friends and they have reported they were very satisfied.
Review 18:The woman at the front desk was very friendly and pleasant to talk to. The room was clean and comfortable and had a fridge for our dog food. The location was great for our visit to Mesa Verde NP.
Review 19:An in-room coffee maker would have been nice. Coffee service in the lobby begins at 7am, so if you are an early riser, this may be inconvenient.
Review 20:This is an older motel, but the room was clean and comfortable, and looked it had been recently painted. It lacks some of the amenities of the more expensive motels, but if you can live with that and just want a nice basic room, we recommend this facility, and we would stay here again.
Review 21:Would have been nice to have a hair dryer provided. Although coffee was available in the office, an in-room pot would have been nice.
Review 22:This isn't the Hilton. It is the kind of motel you might remember from traveling with your parents in the 60s (but updated). But we're so used to the sterile rooms of the fancy chains that we miss out on great places like this Warm, personable staff; sparkling clean. Very reasonable rates - no extra charge for dogs. The kind of place where you feel at home. The owner even showed me where I could walk my dog in a nature preserve that borders on the motel property.
Review 23:Tomahawk Lodge is a quaint old motel in Cortez. Restaurants are within a mile, and Mesa Verde NP is around 12 miles away. Its a good non-chain place to stay.
Review 24:Bit far from downtown -- if you are coming in from Utah, you have to head towards Shiprock rather than going into town. No breakfast to speak of but the coffee was good.
Review 25:Great motel run by a delightful Polish lady. Rooms are comfortable with everything you would expect. Loved the sign out front -- it has heritage status!
Review 26:I would have liked more light in the room. The parking lot needs attention, and the pool is not functional. Actually, none of this was terribly important to me, so I wouldn't say I "didn't like it," just trying to get in my 200 character minimum.
Review 27:The couple who own and run the Tomahawk are delightful, hard-working, and very kind. They have gradually been upgrading the premises. There's more to do, but in the tradition of family-built businesses, they keep after it. My room was comfortable and very clean. The towels were typically small, but soft. There was a small fridge, but no microwave yet - soon to be added to all rooms, as they come on sale, I bet. There was good coffee in the office every morning, and - I swear - Twinkies and Hostess cupcakes! I also liked that each room had a yard chair outside the door, on a small covered walkway connecting the rooms. I will be very pleased to stay there again, should I visit Cortez and Mesa Verde once more.
Review 28:A little traffic noise, but we were only 2 doors off the road and early to bed. Didn't interfere with our sleep though.
Review 29:Wonderful, attentive, eager to please onsite owners.
Review 30:right next to main road so it was noisy, website showed swimming pool but had been closed for three years (only reason I booked location)
Review 31:Small, cute, easy to find
Review 32:On line shows a pool, but once we got there, it looks as if it hasn't been used for years. My children were unhappy. It was hot the days we were there and had looked forward to cooling off in the pool.
Review 33:Great place with nice owners, very sweet.
Review 34:Very comfortable and clean. There's even coffee and a sweet roll in the morning. The lady who runs the place is charming and accommodating. A great stop.
Review 35:Limited amenities; no coffee pot, microwave, or hair dryer. The noise from the highway was loud.
Review 36:It was clean but dated. Okay if you are spending a night and moving on....
Review 37:Booking said there was a pool but owner claims she notified them that she no longer had a pool. Morning rolls were so bad my 7 year old grandspn tossed his donut into the trash. Flimsy door and lock didnt work well. Overpriced and just a wreck. For the money I thought I would save I ended up spending to get kids breakfast.
Review 38:Nothing
Review 39:Pool appeared to have been closed for years if not months. The inner-spring mattresses were made in the 30s or 40s. They pinged and spronged with every move. Very uncomfortable.
Review 40:Older well maintained facility, with friendly owners. If you are looking for a clean, affordable place to sleep this is it.

Review 57:Clean rooms with easy access.
Review 58:No pool
Review 59:Small motel, but perfectly clean, good location to go to Mesa Verde National Park. Looks from the outside a little bit shabby, but is with a try!
