Reviews for The Hotel Hollywood

Review 1:little noise from the other building :), only few times.

Review 2:Good location, easy to find, clean, comfortable in all aspects [nearby supermarket to buy power ball tickets :) ]

Review 3:Room and bathroom are small. Lots of homeless in the area. I didn't feel safe, specially at night. I recommend staying in Santa Monica instead.

Review 4:Clean & comfortable bed. Short walk to walk of fame.

Review 5:The breakfast consisted of fresh bagels and fruit which were lovely but we felt the breakfast time could have been earlier. On Sunday it starts at 9 am when all guests seemed to arrive at the same time. This was a minor thing in what was an overall good stay.

Review 6:The location was great, a short walk from Hollywood Vine metro station. We found an excellent Thai eat in/take out about 5 min walk away called 'Its Pho'. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly.

Review 7:I most likely would not have booked if I had seen an outside view of the hotel or a view of the check in area. Parking should be no charge based on the room fee charged.

Review 8:The hotel just felt more like a hostel than a hotel. The bed had scratchy old sheets and terrible pillows, the bathroom had sort of a gas station sink and a was just sort of gross in general. It was clean and well kept but just incredibly unappealing. I couldn't have imagined even eating a snack there let alone sleeping there so unfortunately after about 30 minutes in the room, my fiance and I decided to eat the cost and check out. We wound up getting a nicer hotel elsewhere in Hollywood. If you're super young and traveling and truly don't care, than this place is probably fine. But aside from that scenario I can't imagine it would be an enjoyable or very comfortable place for most adults to stay.

Review 9:The woman at the front desk was the most warm, friendly, professional person on the planet.

Review 10:We were surprised by the nice room. The staff was extremly friendly and helpfull! Thank you! You can unload the car in front of the hotel, and receive/buy a parking voucher in the entrance. Don't forgot to be there on time (reception closes at night). There was a parking area nearby, for which you can get a parking coupon at the hotel (15$/24h). It looks rather expensive, but trust me... it's cheap if you take a look around to other public and private parking areas in Hollywood and LA! If it is your first night in the US, you might not appreciate the breakfast at all, but believe me, this breakfast was nice compared to several other places in the US...

Review 11:>10mins walk from either metro station. Could be quite dark and quiet at night

Review 12:Cozy room, helpful staff, love the bagels and hot chocolate for breakfast!

Review 13:We loved the Hotel Hollywood! The wonderful woman on the front desk was amazing help and just great to have a chat to! She made us feel at home. Bed was comfortable, shower was good, room cleaned everyday. Will definitely stay again!

Review 14:Location was good just off Hollywood Blvd, except Hollywood Blvd isn't that nice a place but is central. Hotel was nice, clean and had everythin needed, rooms were v small but that's to be expected for the price! Had no problem with anythin and there was parking across the road for $15 a night.

Review 15:Breakfast is included but very limited (continental). It's okay but should not be a decisive factor when you book.

Review 16:Location near Hollywood Bd, close to tube station and 3 blocks away from FlyAway shuttle. Staff very friendly, polite and helpful. Rooms quite big for the price. Good wireless

Review 17:On our first day, we noticed that the bath towel rack on the back of the bathroom door was broken and mentioned it to the front desk. We stayed there for 5 nights and never once was it properly fixed. There was no other option for in the room to hang towels which made things a bit inconvenient. The maid service was not thorough (the floor was not vacuumed and there were crumbs on the table when we arrived (and were not cleaned). The cleaning detergents or "perfumes" used in the hallway were extremely strong.

Review 18:The location was very good--Hollywood Blvd. and Highway 101 were very close by. Although parking costs $15/day, that was also necessary in that neighborhood.

Review 19:-Quite far from the subway but In a walking distance.

Review 20:Staff is totally awesome . She's very helpful and friendly. All basic needs you want. Cleanliness.

Review 21:Breakfast the bagel were not that good Breakfast served in the same room as the desk office not a lot of room to organize your tray

Review 22:Location is so convenient staff is very helpfull

Review 23:The front desk black girl messed us up wid giving wrong infos that ended up into a parking violation ticket within 5minuites right after we even checked in..Unorganized people and doesnt know what they are talking about..place is old and tiny rooms. Not worth it.Not going back either..

Review 24:Bathroom was a little dated but clean. Higher room would be better for sleep as there is a little street noise, but no elevator is a hassle.

Review 25:Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Value for money. Good location, close to food and the metro. Free wifi was awesome,

Review 26:These are negligible, but should mention. The smell in the room was a little off. The A/c was too powerful.

Review 27:Loved the location, loved the hospitality. So glad that there was some sort of breakfast. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean.

Review 28:The lady at the front desk was so helpful and kind, she was patient and overall great. However, we were in the room right next to the stairs and it was so loud with adults running up and down it, you just heard footsteps all night. The price of the hotel was awesome and the location was great. Next time I'll make sure to get the top floor. Other than that it went well!

Review 29:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was great! It was within walking distance to the walk of fame, and the Chinese theater. We were also able to walk to the Hollywood sign. The rooms were a little small, but they were clean.

Review 30:The hotel overall is very old and it feels old. The carpet is dirty, outlet covers a missing, exit sign is falling off the wall. The breakfast area is in the very tiny front lobby. There is only room for about 4 people to stand or sit and breakfast didn't start until 9. The parking is around the corner in an unsecured parking lot. We were a little worried the car would get broken into.

Review 31:It was a good location for the money. It was one block from Hollywood Blvd, however it is the old, dirty end of the Blvd. The room was clean. Front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful.

Review 32:Perfect location for hikes to Runyon Canyon or strolls down Hollywood Blvd. Wonderful staff, clean rooms, parking off-site, but very near. Good continental breakfast.

Review 33:Breakfast is really poor, which you have to eat at reception area..

Review 34:Very good location, Walk of Fame is literally 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Very good value for the money.

Review 35:Parking was a little hard to find, but we arrived late and the lot attendant wasn't the most helpful.

Review 36:Staff was genuine warm sweet and helpful, truly appreciated all their help and tips!

Review 37:Very clean, staff are the best, and great value. Comfortable bed, nice tv, quality toiletries, and a fridge. Within walking distance from the Hollywood/Vine Metro Stop (red line). Nice breakfast option of bagels, cereal bars, OJ, Coffee, Tea, Cocoa, and Fruit. Luggage storage, free wifi, and a pc station makes handling business matters easy.

Review 38:Paid parking, loud and dark room. Some of the furniture were damaged. Breakfast from 9AM! Maybe it is LA but such a room for such a price, wow!

Review 39:Helpful and kind staff, very close to what I wanted to see.

Review 40:Loud woman in the neighbouring building, opposite my room #302, probably drunk, at about 2:30 am one morning.

Review 41:The staff were excellent, I remember Viola, but not other names.

Review 42:Thin walls. Non acustic isolation on the floors. My husband left inside a drawer 2 phones (a brand new Sony Experia M4 and a BlackBerry), when he realized and called, nobody was able to find...

Review 43:Location, parking with reasonable price, nice staff.

Review 44:Location in relation to the Hollywood strip was good, however the neighborhood is dodgy. Take caution walking home or around at night!

Review 45:The staff were very helpful and were willing to help wherever they could.

Review 46:Would have enjoyed a kettle and microwave in the rooms.

Review 47:Receptionist during the day was lovely, very helpful also. Helped us several times with the best way to get to places such as the metro to go to universal studios and flyaway buses to get to the airport.

Review 48:Wi-Fi was super slow in our room. Although they made some effort to fix the issue but no success.

Review 49:Staff was very kind and helpful. Location was great. Complementary breakfast was modest but yet acceptable. Accepting to store our luggage till evening (we had a late flight outbound) was just perfect. They also helped us print our boarding passes :)

Review 50:Location is great for Hollywood Boulevarde and public transport if you don't have a car. Staff were helpful and the hotel felt safe. Perfect place to stay at a fraction of the cost of other hotels nearby. They also provide a complimentary 'grab & go' breakfast with bagels, tea, coffee, cereal bars and apples.

Review 51:There was no kitchen. Breakfast is served in the reception area. Wi-Fi was very bad.

Review 52:Good location, spacious room and bathroom, complimentary shampoo, conditioner and makeup remover. There was a fridge in the room.

Review 53:The staff were very accommodating about our luggage and helpful with our tour selections. Good breakfast selection. Great eateries all around, especially right over the road. Discovered a little outside area too at the hotel where we could sit and relax.

Review 54:Kinda noisy because of the trash that lives in the next building but hotel can't do anything about that - otherwise super great !!

Review 55:Really great place !!! Super comfortable bed and great staff - very clean and neat - glad to stay here :)

Review 56:Everything! Mike at the front desk was Awesome, very friendly and knowledgeable And took our bags upstairs for us. He gave us Amazing Customer Service! Loved the room! Very clean and comfy and the bed was comfy too.

Review 57:It would be great if there was hot water availability all the time instead of only at breakfast. The area did not feel safe.

Review 58:The staff were really friendly and helpful

Review 59:There is no twin beding for all rooms. The queen size bed is slightly small for 2 person . No good view from any rooms.

Review 60:Location of this hotel is excellent. That ia easy access to public transportation and food. Front desk staffs are always helpful.

Review 61:The self service take to your room breakfast - very tight space if more than 3 people, especially when toasting your bagel - only choice was which flavour bagel! Then having to carry coffee & bagel to 3rd floor to eat!

Review 62:The convenience to attractions.

Review 63:Room was pretty small, area a bit dodgy at night (late).

Review 64:Really comfortable bed, good shower, good A/C. Handy location in Hollywood and near the tram/bus. Really good cafe across the road. Adequate breakfast provided in room rate - good coffee and juice, bagels.

Review 65:All was good

Review 66:Probably the Most friendly staff I've every encountered. Laughed like we were old friends. Very helpful. They definitely went the extra mile

Review 67:The fact there are no facilities to get or make any hot drinks. No tea/coffee available after 11am. Poor breakfast choices if you are not early enough to eat first. Also the fact that it is standing room only in a small front office to have continental breakfast

Review 68:The friendly staff

Review 69:Not a bad experience but no elevator might prove difficult for some visitors. That said I would still recommend this hotel.

Review 70:Great location. Hotel has older Worldie charm. Room was value for money and the free breakfast was a nice touch.

Review 71:Close to Hollywood Blvd. Easy access to restaurants for meals. Rate is pricey for a small room , in addition to having to pay for parking a block away. But I guess that's LA!

Review 72:Lack of customer service and enthusiasm from reception.

Review 73:Good location and the rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. A basic breakfast was also included, that you could take back to the room. Walking distance to the subway and Chinese Theatre.

Review 74:No drink making facilities in room. Just hot water would have been good as we brought all of our own coffee etc. Area around is okay but other than walk of fame and theatre, nothing else to do at night.

Review 75:Nice, cosy little hotel. Staff very helpful. Clean and well maintained.

Review 76:They dont change towels or bathtub mat, nobody's in the reception after 10, receptionist wasnt friendly or helpfull and its overpriced, still ok if u r not planning to stay long in the room

Review 77:Location, 5 min walk till Hollywood wake of fame and Metro, ok breakfast, quite at night, 24 hrs Pharmcy and 7/11 cross the street

Review 78:The area - it was a little unsafe and because the windows were single glazed you could hear everything that was happening on the road. There was also a nightclub a couple of doors down which looked a little dodgy.

Review 79:The staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful and our room was very clean.

Review 80:A bit small room, if you have luggage. Can be a bit noisy as right next to living houses and people chatting or dog barking. Breakfast is one hour later on Sunday - no idea why.

Review 81:Right near Walk of Fame, close to main action. Clean rooms, helpful staff. Cheap laundry downstairs (though open to guests only in the evening). Breakfast (though no ham, but tasty). Close to bus and metro stops

Review 82:Staff was ok but not very friendly. The public parking the hotel lets you use was nearby but should in my opinion be $10,- instead of the $15,- the hotel charges for the public parking. Probably parking overnight on the street (8 pm till 8 am) is actually free, parking situation wasn't clear.

Review 83:The hotel was quiet nice, a clean room, comfortable bed and basic yet good continental breakfast (bagels).

Review 84:Small breakfast but Bagels and the orange juice are tasting good :-) Wlan was not the best in our room noisy aircondition

Review 85:Very friendly staff, helpful, not far away from Hollywood Blvd./Walk of fame, free parking area few meters from Hotel

Review 86:the location was ok a bit dodgy and there was a smoke alarm battery that needed replacing that beeped for the 2 days i was there - very annoying

Review 87:very clean friendly and breakfast was more substantial than most continental breakfast which made it a great value

Review 88:The WIFI left something to be desired. On and off at random. One min. your good to go the next not so much. And although I would never complain about free food , the tiny room that held the food in the morning wasn't big enough for everyone to squeeze into.

Review 89:Location was great. It was only a few blocks away from the hot spots and in walking distance. Enterprise was right next door if you needed a ride. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

Review 90:So basic like a hostle, there is another hotel called The Hollywood hotel the taxi driver dropped me there first, it turns to be the hotel name is The Hotel Hollywood so be careful peaple.

Review 91:Location

Review 92:The parking situation could be better. It wasn't explained really well and caused not only ourselves, but other occupants problems.

Review 93:I liked how close it was to universal studios, Hollywood..we were there for horror nights and we didn't have to drive to far to and from.

Review 94:The wall's are a little thin. So if other guest's are not considerate, it is a little noisy at night.

Review 95:The staff where very friendly and helpful. Especially Neffie, who went out of her way to help us. The location, close to everything. The price included breakfast.

Review 96:Breakfast room was very small. 8am was very cramped. Tip go down a bit later

Review 97:Staff very helpful our room was large (202) complimentary breakfast was ideal to start the day.

Review 98:The breakfast provided was disappointing. If you stay on the lower level, you get the noise from the rooms above.

Review 99:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location - close to Hollywood Blvd.

Review 100:Room was VERY basic but bed was very comfortable. Shower adequate but could use a better shower head. Room could have looked better with more art and a few more splashes of color/ "extras" to make the room seem more upgraded. 1st impression poor but "warmed" to room over the 3 days.

Review 101:Great location - good value for cost.

Review 102:Room clean and comfy, the staff very helpful. Parking just round corner is secure. All the sights close, by I would recommend seeing the la brea tar pits

Review 103:Nothing

Review 104:10 min walk from Hollywood walk of fame, the staff especially neffy the general manager were so helpful. Safe & nothing was ever to much trouble

Review 105:Tap water is not drinkable, there is no water fountain; the only drinking water is the one served during breakfast for tea/coffee. You can use 7/11 grocery store across the road or just refill while in museums/on tours. Breakfast is limited: bagels of different kinds, toasts with jam/butter made of them splitted in a half, green apple/bananas, packed tea/coffee. No oatmeal/cereal (even instant). Shower head is fixed low in the bath - may be ok for 1.6m, but definitely not for 1.8 (I had to bend), no towel hangers (although there is shelf for towels). Small desk, window looks to the wall of neighboring building (and corresponding windows, you probably can meet neighbors here), therefore small amount of light in the room (bedside lamp + something in the other corner of room only; ok in general), no cupboard (but there are several drawers and, probably, hangers - I don't remember exactly). Not great sound isolation (both from street and halls), but it was surprisingly quiet during my stay (several evenings/nights) on the last floor.

Review 106:Great location - one block from the Walk of Fame and Hollywood Blvd, two blocks from Hollywood / Vine subway station, four blocks FlyAway Hollywood bus stop. Good pizzeria, Subway, Panda Express, 7/11 and some other fast foods are just across the road. Two metro stops from Universal Park, one metro stop (or 10-15 minutes walk) from Hollywood / Highland station - main Hollywood attractions and default start/end for a lot of city tours. Don't worry about late check-in - they will just leave the room open with keys on the bed, send you front door code in email and you'll be able to check-in next morning. AC in the room works good (although it's noisy, but you fully control it), plenty of power plugs (no need in cord extension), you can use Ethernet instead of WiFi in the room (specifically in my room WiFi was absent, but it was good literally everywhere else), good Internet speed (~8 Mbit) and ping, nice bed, nice armchair, there is fridge in the room, there is light in the bath/shower (so you can close curtain and still get light), good set of towels (one for the floor and then per person: face+hands+body). There are also computers with Internet access available in the lobby. Probably you can ask to print boarding passes as well (didn't try).

Review 107:Their included breakfast is not very extensive, rather poor actually, but there is fruit and coffee.

Review 108:It's a no frills hotel but it's clean and a block off all the hustle and bustle so it's fairly quiet in the area. The bed is very comfortable and a/c worked well. CVS and 7-11 are only a block away and the area seems safe.

Review 109:The breakfast was unnecessary and just not appropriate for a room that size. Too crowded and it takes over the reception area making general business with reception staff practically impossible without jumping over people; with a 7/11 across the round and countless breakfast options in the area we felt it was just not needed and detracted from an otherwise great experience. Management please take note.

Review 110:The staff are the real stars of this hotel, nothing was too much trouble and they were so helpful. Nef & Michael really go out of their way to point out local attractions, transport options & suggestions for dining. The rooms were spacious, had strong aircon and were impeccably clean. This was our last hotel on a round-world trip and we couldn't be happier

Review 111:The front office is often unstaffed. The hair dryer didn't work, and the lamp bulb was burned out.

Review 112:The hotel is centrally located, and easy to get to from the Metro red line and LAX Flyaway shuttle. The room was clean, and had been recently updated. Thankfully, the air conditioner worked great, because LA was in the middle of a heatwave.

Review 113:There was a garbage chute next to our room, so occasionally there were some loud noises.

Review 114:Decent breakfast, helpful staff. Location in Hollywood is close enough to the action to enjoy it, but far away enough to be bothered by it. Great shower.

Review 115:After a long-haul flight we just wanted to relax, but our bedsheets were filthy (black marks, as if it'd been on the floor) so we had to go and speak to reception. They changed them for us, but the protective cover of the mattress had a clearly visible footprint on it - they made no comment about it.

Review 116:Decent sized room, no shared bathroom, perfect location.

Review 117:It's very convenient to go to the Universal Studio and Walk of the Frame. Though the hotel is small but the staff is very kind and nice. They allowed me to cancel the room for my friends who can't come with us as planning even though this is a non-refundable room when they know my friend can't come to USA for her honeymoon is only because she is suddenly sick before departure.

Review 118:It had no elevator so we had to carry our luggage upstairs (they didn't offer to help us). We had a window but no views because it was faced toward an apartment complex. It wasn't in the safest area but I didn't mind it so much because of the location.

Review 119:I liked the location because it was not far from downtown Hollywood. We also were down the street from Capital Records. Marilyn Monroe and other Hollywood legends stayed there too

Review 120:Neighborhood didn't feel safe. Loud music was blasting from what looked like a nightclub around the corner early in the morning when I went for a walk. No lounge or seating area . Breakfast verged on the pathetic.

Review 121:Conveniently located.

Review 122:The room was too small the bathroom door wouldn't even open half way the shower.u had to step over the bath tub the shower head was way to low for my son or myself being disabled to use or wash my hair or face. People banged on our window for 2 hours because they forgot the key and couldn't read signs. We called cop's they took over an hour so we didn't get 2 sleep till 5am.they didn't care and said they were booked but I went on 2 sites they were not booked.don't stay in rm 101 ever. there's no table or desk either tiny closet room & I'm very upset.

Review 123:The bed and the air was about it.

Review 124:Ground floor room under the stairs, woke up every night when people came back to the hotel and every morning will people dragging suitcases down the stairs

Review 125:The beds are super comfy

Review 126:I paid for a Superior room and we were given a regular room. They told us that they did not have a superior room available. I asked for a refund. They promised to refund my AMEX $41.04 which has not been refunded to my credit card. I have left three messages with the hotel and have not received a response. I will pursue this matter through Booking.com and AMEX.

Review 127:too many homeless people in the area

Review 128:Good location within walking distance of Hollywood boulevard , Chinese theater etc. and a short ride away from universal studios !

Review 129:Only negative was the wifi didn't work very well on 3rd floor.

Review 130:This place is 2-3 star done very well. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and affordable. The staff were great, friendly and helpful. The laundry facilities were also very new and cheap to use

Review 131:Bed was hard and the hotel was a worn. The neighborhood was a little sketchy and we felt unsafe walking around especially at night.

Review 132:The breakfast was better than expected. The front desk staff were excellent and helpful. The location was right in the heart of Hollywood, close to Universal Studios and Griffith Park.

Review 133:This part of LA is fairly seedy and run down. If you are upset by meeting homeless people be aware there are lots however we were never bothered or felt unsafe. Breakfast is basic.it

Review 134:Surprisingly quiet location given it's close to Hollywood and Vine. The bed linen and towels were clean as could be. Easy parking.
