Reviews for A Sentimental Journey Bed and Breakfast
Review 1:Breakfast was a little disappointing-compared to many B&BS that make a real feature of a home cooked breakfast. There was a huge range of do it yourself breakfast options- but mostly bread/cake/cereal style ( we are not fond if this kind of breakfast-but enjoyed the fruit and yogurt).
Review 2:Ultra friendly Great central town location Very quirky 1930/40s style, we loved it -though it may not suit everyone. Good acc as to a shared kitchen if needed.
Review 3:We had no bad experiences.
Review 4:This is a very individual, unique place to stay, full of individualism and creativity in each room. Excellent location.Hosts are charming and informative.
Review 5:Did not like that the owners were not on site. Prefer a hot, freshly made breakfast, as opposed to a cold, self serve breakfast. Many of the packaged breakfast items were out dated and some even growing mold.
Review 6:Liked the closeness to the Gettysburg Battlefield and shops/restaurants. Bed was quite comfortable.
Review 7:The breakfast and snack area had a lot of outdated food. We were on thefirst floor and could hear every time someone came in or left the doorslammed shut. Got woke up a few times in the night
Review 8:This was a perfect location, within walking distance of most attractionsand dinning
Review 9:I loved how each room was designed for a specific era. I stayed in the "turn of the century" room. I loved the historic artifacts in the downstairs foyer/sitting room. I enjoyed the covered front porch. The kitchen was designed from the 1950s; it was also fully stocked with snacks, coffee, yogurt, cereal and juice. The owners were very affable and hospitable. They drove me and two of my friends to the Seminary for a wedding.
Review 10:none
Review 11:Center of everything, we walked to Dinner, every night, close to carriage ride, and the small stores. sat on front porch to relax and people watch.
Review 12:We loved everything and plan to stay there again when we come back.
Review 13:Barb was great, she went out of her way to help us with our extended stay. It is a beautiful place and it was the first time I stayed at a B&B and its like being at home, no schedules, you do everything on your own. GREAT PLACE
Review 14:This B&B was wonderful! This was our first B&B & we'd go back there! The owners were awesome. The room was so nice & comfortable. Décor was gorgeous!
Review 15:Nothing about the hotel, but everything in the town closes at 8 pm and opens at 12 am, so there is not much going on at night in the area. Also, being Celiac, If they could improve ANYTHING it would be to have some gluten free snacks and breakfast options. I managed with yogurt and fruit, and some popcorn.
Review 16:Everything about this place is AMAZING! Barbara is wonderful and really works with you if you are running late - she even offered to stay to meet me or put keys in a lock box due to traffic issues. The place is so nostalgic, each room has a different theme and the wall hangings, decorations, beds, EVERYTHING is transported from a different period of our country's glory days. I am one of those people who feel that they were born in the wrong era, so this bed and breakfast was literally a dream come true for me, but the other people in my party loved it as well. Especially the kitchen which is FULLY STOCKED and open 24 hours. My dad is a larger gentleman and has issues in many of the beds in hotels when we travel, but he LOVED the bed in the Moonlight Serenade room - authentic spring bed! All 6 of us have loved our stay so much we decided our next trip back to Gettysburg we will ONLY be staying here, and have recommended the B&B to everyone we have met. Finally, the location is INCREDIBLE, in the heart of everything in Gettysburg. A 5 minute walk to Gettysburg Bus Tours and Dobbins House Tavern, a 20 minute walk to the Gettysburg Battle Theater, and a 10 minute walk downtown to Lincoln Square.
Review 17:I have nothing to complain about our stay.
Review 18:The location was right downtown and within easy walking distance of various attractions. The owners were helpful and made great suggestions about what to see.
Review 19:Breakfast room could be a bit of a crush if everyone descended on it at the same time.
Review 20:The quirkiness of the property and the politeness and efficiency of the owner. The breakfast room was excellent, wanted for nothing. Comfortable stay.
Review 21:It was advertised as a continental breakfast, but I was disappointed with the items provided.
Review 22:The owner was very friendly and helpful. She provided CD's and a map for a driving tour of the battlefield.
Review 23:Nothing, great stay.
Review 24:The location is great, right on Baltimore St near the center of Gettysburg. The rooms are well appointed with period furnishings, and the continental kitchen room is open 24/7 & well stocked with baked goods, cereals, juices, yogurt, fruit, coffee, and several flavored creamers. The owners were very helpful and went the extra mile to ensure our visit was great. We will return.
Review 25:We expected a community prepared breakfast, but with our diet we probably did not care. Offerings were high calorie with a little fruit.
Review 26:Easy access. Kitchen available 24/7. WiFi a must especially since we were notified of a family death on the west coast for which I am responsible for arrangements -- lots of communication needs. Close to all activities, food and architecture.
Review 27:Staff, location, (close to everything downtown). Atmosphere was wonderful, it took you back in time, which was what we expected. Pleasantly not surprised.
Review 28:We occupied the two bedroom suite upstairs. It was perfect for the four of us, with the bathroom between the two bedrooms and all rooms connected. We enjoyed the upstairs kitchen and greatly appreciated the assortment of breakfast items in the morning, fruit, coffee and juice, water bottles, yogurt, etc. The front porch is a delight to relax on and watch the activity of town pass by.
Review 29:Air in the room was always musty, and the food (breakfast) was certainly underwhelming; cold cereal and store bought bagels and muffins. Going out is a much better option.
Review 30:Great location in the historic district. It was clean and the beds were fine.
Review 31:This B&B has a fantastic location within walking distance to the cemetery, downtown and plenty of places to eat. My room was spacious and even had a small kitchenette in addition to a private bath. The suite had a small fridge that was also handy.
Review 32:The breakfast was a self-serve cold cereal, muffins, fruit buffet. Barbara had every type of breakfast food imaginable, but I missed the "B&B" feel. A sit-down, served breakfast would have been better.
Review 33:Barbara was an excellent hostess and was available for any of our needs. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the living room experience and met with our friends and visited there.
Review 34:The owners were extremely helpful & went out of their way to be accommodating. The rooms were well done, bringing back a simpler time. Really enjoyed our stay.
Review 35:Only being able to spend two nights here.
Review 36:Barbara was very accommodating when I called her to inform her we would be checking in late. She waited for us instead of giving us a lockbox number to access the room.
Review 37:not a thing!
Review 38:Cozy, and warm, the owners were VERY nice and accommodating. Kitchen was well stocked and offered plenty of choices. The owner even loaned us a CD for an auto tour of the battle grounds!
Review 39:The coffee in the self serve kitchen should probably be a better quality/brand.
Review 40:The staff was very helpful. The location is close to the battlefield and within walking distance of the town. There is a nice restaurant in the same block. Although I don't collect antiques, if you like antiques, the B and B is quite interesting. The serve yourself kitchen is good if you get up early or you want a snack.
Review 41:King sized mattress seemed to be breaking down (perhaps a foam overlay would be helpful).
Review 42:Loved the antique decor. It was like a journey back in time.
Review 43:Not really a complaint but this is not really a B&B, more of an inn with limited amenities. Breakfast is a simple kitchen with a reasonably nice but basic selection, some fresh but mostly packaged items. Fit our needs though.
Review 44:Nice rooms, thoughtfully decorated, and very conveniently located for sightseeing in Gettysburg. Many sites in walking distance and plenty to do and see in the neighborhood. No reservations in recommending to other travelers.
Review 45:continental breakfast was not advertised as such and left a little bit to be desired
Review 46:price was right, clean and the lady that checked us in was very helpful.
Review 47:Dusty WW2 decor with no reference to Eisenhower. No apparent reason to emphasize that era. Only saw hosts at check in Noisy-street and other guests motel type breakfast
Review 48:Location was good
Review 49:My husband has trouble walking up steps I ended up carrying all luggage down steps etc Not their problem
Review 50:Very gracious owners, helpful Relaxing visit
Review 51:Great location in the center of Gettysburg and five minute drive to Gettysburg National Park Military battlefield. The B&B rooms were comfortable and quiet with a well stocked kitchen for breakfast and snacks. The owners were extremely helpful regarding the Gettysburg town and battlefield.
Review 52:We didnt enjoy finding the air conditioner to be older and noisy. We thought the bed was misrepresented, the bed was a full size not a queen.
Review 53:We liked the location of the B&B. We loved the 24hr help yourself breakfast room. We loved the decor and shower water pressure.
Review 54:Some of the outlet didn't charge phones.
Review 55:We enjoyed staying in a historic environment. The beds were comfortable. Staff was very friendly. The variety of food in the kitchen was great.
Review 56:This is a little reasonable B&B place we've been in our trip through Pennsylvania. We stayed there just for a night. The best thing is its location very close to Gettysburg historical places. Also it's a small and a quiet one. The host and the hostess are very friendly and attentive. In addition you may use the kitchen on your own any time you need. And rooms in the hotel are so amusing and decorated with true stuff 30-40-50th of the XX-th century. We liked it!
Review 57:Minor things..an alarm clock would be good .TV need updating with remotes that work..
Review 58:Decor was awesome..the owner was very nice..went out of her way to get fresh Daisy's that my husband requested..my 10 yr old loved having her own a joining room..the help yourself kitchen was nicely stocked and super cute.
Review 59:Close to a construction site so woken early by noise. Bad connectivity on wi-if was an inconvenience as we needed to check emails regarding the next stage of our holiday.
Review 60:24 hour access to the kitchen!
Review 61:Fix your own breakfast, but knew that ahead of time. We have never stayed in a B&B where the host was not living there. To be fair that aspect was not to our liking but for some I'm sure not an issue
Review 62:The location, the room was very comfortable
Review 63:I discovered after the fact that my two trip across Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania had unknowingly been booked through Booking.com I did not like the fact that it placed distance between myself and the front desk of every hotelery I used. I repeatedly was told "Well, we don't know because this reservation is through booking.com" I had assumed that I was dealing directly with the management of each hotel when I made my reservations.
Review 64:The owners phoned me prior to my reservation date to verify a requested change to add another day to my reservation. Great location for the Gettysburg experience. Easy access to the battlefield and visitors center.
Review 65:We were in town for the Gettysburg reenactment. The quaint b&b was perfect. Very clean and comfortable. Walking distance to town. Felt like I was at grandma's house. Highly recommend this place. Barbra was super sweet and accommodating. We will be back.
Review 66:I liked that other guests were very quiet as we were when we came in late. The owner was very helpful and even let us borrow a CD and map to get around the battlefield on our own. My daughter and I really enjoyed our room and we even had our own parking space in the back. The location was very convenient and we enjoyed walking around Gettysburg.
Review 67:No complaints.
Review 68:Everything - hosts were cordial, friendly, and helpful. Room was quaint and quiet. Self-serve breakfast kitchen was fantastic. Location was perfect. A wonderful, relaxing trip back in time.
Review 69:None
Review 70:Great 40's-50's decor and furnishings.
Review 71:Charming, clean and and well located
Review 72:We loved the quaint and original feel of the building and property. Location close to shops and center of town were a big plus.
Review 73:The main road was very noisy at night with large lorries going past.
Review 74:Great location and quirkiness of the property

Review 79:Our hosts,Barbara and Steve were so very welcoming and friendly.Nothing was any trouble for them.Wonderful visit.
Review 80:cold breakfast
Review 81:The great location
Review 82:I think the breakfast part could have been more than pastries and carbohydrates.
Review 83:This was a beautiful house in a great location.
Review 84:having access to vehicles, Had to carry luggage around back of building.
Review 85:Location and atmosphere was excellent.
Review 86:breakfast not up to par with similarly priced B&B
Review 87:Good location, nice old home.
Review 88:Everything!
Review 89:Noise level
Review 90:Location
Review 91:Comfortable. Quiet. Good cold, continental breakfast variety.
Review 92:Great location
Review 93:The room had too many theme pieces (collectables) for its size, hard mattress.
Review 94:Hosts, location (close to restaurants), the city of Gettysburg.
Review 95:Within walking distance to what we wanted to see and do
Review 96:Owners mostly but home was very in theme and the bed was awesome! Couldn't ask for more.

Review 99:nothing I did not like
Review 100:location set up inside friendliness
Review 101:Excellent service, very comfortable.
Review 102:Lighting was poor - could no read easily!
Review 103:Staff and breakfast area were great.
Review 104:Battle ground
Review 105:Breakfast was do-it-yourself, with Bagels, packaged sweet rolls, jams, and cereals. All cold.
Review 106:Convenient to Gettysberg battlefield
Review 107:Room was small
Review 108:Loved the friendly inn keeper. Great location. Good selection in the kitchen which was always available.
Review 109:Location Clean Quiet
Review 110:Friendly hostess, great location. Our visit to Gettysburg was most enjoyable.
Review 111:Air conditioner was at head of bed. Sheets older and tended to come off bed, made sleeping less pleasant.
Review 112:Location. Nice staff. Clean.
Review 113:Very nicely decorated with old time themes. Owners are very nice and helpful. Great location.
Review 114:Everything, the location, the old world decor. The 24 hour kitchen. Comfortable beds. Helpful owners. The freedom to come and go as you please.
Review 115:Ample supply of everything............no complaints. Close to most historic areas and within walking distance of many shops and walking tours.
Review 116:Not really a don't like, but just a comment. Just a few too many items of memorabilia in our room to allow enough space for all our luggage. Travelling from the UK we had more than the usual.
Review 117:We were really looked after by Steve and Barbara. The 24hr breakfast was a real plus and nothing was too much trouble. Very convenient position, within easy walking distance of most restaurants.
Review 118:Nothing. Loved everything about it
Review 119:The location for visiting Gettysburg is perfect. Barbara is a sweetheart. Rooms are beautifully decorated. Kitchen is well stocked and available all day loved sitting in the front porch. Felt very comfortable there
Review 120:Mild complaints: bathroom did not have a night light so we left the light on the entire night; the inside of the bathroom door could use a knob; for some reason, the water cut-off to the toilet was not opened the entire way. The lamp on one side of the bed could use a shade and a new on-off switch.
Review 121:Continental breakfast. Kitchen open 24 hours. Very responsive owners: Suggested that the milk selection include lactose-free milk, and Barbara went out and purchased it. Comfortable downstairs parlor. Comfortable bed. We would certainly recommend this B & B, the minor complains in the next box notwithstanding.
