Reviews for CityFlats Hotel Holland

Review 1:Work area and couch a little cramped.

Review 2:Huge bathroom. Great amenities like free hot coffee delivered to your door in the morning, and oatmeal snack bars in the room that are awesome.

Review 3:Fourth floor gets a great deal of noise from the restaurant on the 5th floor. Some features starting to look worn.

Review 4:Very comfortable beds, unique rooms, and great location

Review 5:The hotel is not without its quirks. The lights take a little trial and error to figure out, for example. The fold-out door on the toilet stall seemed flimsy and offered less privacy than we would have liked. The cleaning staff did not service the room one of the three nights we stayed; that got a profuse apology from the front desk, which we appreciated. I'd rather stay in a place with loads of personality and a couple of flaws than a sterile, beige box on the highway. We'll definitely stay at CityFlats again.

Review 6:Our spacious, contemporary room was clean and comfortable. Plenty big for the two of us. We loved the personality of the place -- the Thermoses of coffee delivered in paper bags, the fresh fruit and granola bars, the oversized shower. And the location was unbeatable for walking to shops and restaurants.

Review 7:I felt the lady that checked me in had an attitude towards me for no reason.

Review 8:I like the overall look and comfortable of the place for a affordable price.

Review 9:While I appreciate why they are - You should know that they’re a ‘green’ hotel, so you’ll have to deal with low volt (low light, poor spectrum) lighting + low flow (weak) shower & flush toilets.

Review 10:Location is great and easy to park at (and it’s free parking!) Staff is really nice. The area is relaxed and great for a short visit.

Review 11:I really wish that overnight guests could, at least, receive a coupon for breakfast for the next morning. Also, the noise from the floor above us (the restaurant), was awful!

Review 12:The hotel was close to the downtown area and was very clean.

Review 13:The free Wifi didn't seem to work on my phone and I didn't see a blow dryer for usage in the room.

Review 14:I loved the uniqueness of each room. The bed was probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. The sheets were so soft!

Review 15:Had booked a king room, were first sent to a double room, even though apparently a king was available as we were able to move immediately into one. Design of rooms is unconventional and for us, unsuccessful. Rooms did not feel luxurious. Instead of wood, furniture is made of obviously cheap laminate. Cupboard doors did not close properly. We referred to it as the "Ikea" hotel. Restaurant advertised as "elegant" and "distinctive" yet menu options were generally uninteresting and food was bland. Ridiculous cutlery. In all, it gives the feeling that it is trying hard to look like a modern, elegant luxury hotel but with nothing actually luxurious underneath.

Review 16:Property was clean. Easy to find and good location.

Review 17:The view of the television is blocked from the bed by the height of the chair at the desk.

Review 18:The hotel is sleek, while comfortable. Having a delightful restaurant at the top is a real perk.

Review 19:As a "green" hotel, the rooms were huge, too much unusable shelving and storage, no coffee or fridge and we had to request additional towels. For the money, we were very disappointed.

Review 20:The location was great, along with the 5th floor restaurant.

Review 21:1) No in-room coffee. A First World problem, to be sure, but still. 2) Water took a really long time to get hot enough to shower in. Perhaps an effort to save energy (since the hotel is very proud of being green) but I suspect the amount wasted waiting for it to get hot is probably off-setting the water saved by the fancy eco-friendly toilets.

Review 22:CityFlats is delightful. Our room was very stylish and modern, comfortable and quiet. The staff was super friendly. Unfortunately, we rolled in late and were only staying one night.

Review 23:Bed way too soft for my back, but I suppose it's great if you like a soft mattress. Lights were strange in the room--it was all or nothing power to the room, so in order to turn the bathroom light on at night, lights in the main room would also come on. Also, no way to just have the bedside lights on without having the main room lights on. Very strange configuration, not sure if it has to do with the LEED certification or not.

Review 24:Beautiful arrangement of the rooms. We really liked the way the bed frame and television served to separate the rooms. Cool high, unfinished stone ceilings.

Review 25:The decor used muted colors that failed to offset the exposed concrete slab construction. The lack of carpeting and other sound absorbing materials made sounds loud & hollow.

Review 26:The room and bathroom size was generous. The sheets and towels were unusually good and the walk-in shower well designed and had excellent euro-style controls that assured consistent water temperature.

Review 27:Zero

Review 28:Location of City a Flats is excellent -right next to the park and downtown Holland. Restaurant on top floor has fantastic views and there is an outside eating area. We ate there and food was excellent bistro style food with very good service. Hotel rooms are spacious.

Review 29:They were upgrading their computer system and it appears to not have gone very well. The whole time we were there we were not able to charge anything form the restaurants etc to our rooms. If you went to get coffee in the morning or a drink had to make sure he had actual cash or a credit card. Also the city turned off the water one night for several hours, Inconvenient.

Review 30:Clean comfortable room and the staff was very nice

Review 31:The internet service was poor.

Review 32:The location was wonderful for touring downtown Holland. The individually designed room made the stay more pleasant than a generic hotel room.

Review 33:Too many signs saying items out of order, or unavailable for a hotel at this price point. Strong scented cleaning products. Parking lot was a zoo in the late afternoon.

Review 34:Close to downtown. Friendly staff. Room was very nice.

Review 35:High, concrete ceiling and no carpeting in our room left us feeling "cold." Japanese style sliding partition leading to bathroom was clever, but no privacy in toilet area was icky.

Review 36:The 5th floor bistro bar was a winner, great staff and hip vibe. Lobby coffee bar with pastries made for a nice wake-up and departure.

Review 37:The energy efficient lamps in the room give a very cold light. It made the room very unfriendly at night, while it's such a great hotel.

Review 38:We loved this hotel because it's right downtown Holland with the main shops only one block away. The hotel has a very modern (European) look and feel which we very much appreciated. Also a lockable toilet in the bathroom is nice.

Review 39:The bathroom door is this odd sliding door that doesn't really allow for privacy with its large gaps on the sides and inability to stay closed without sliding slowly open. At $200 a night, its definitely priced above other Holland hotels, but is in a much better location. ALSO, enjoy the train going by right next to the hotel at 5am!

Review 40:The location was perfect for walking to the close by bars and restaurants.

Review 41:The only thing that was not so comfortable was the sofa and chair in the room. Since just having surgery I sat in the desk chair which was okay.

Review 42:Our room was very clean and with many outstanding bedding. I had just had hip surgery and had no problem. The shower was wonderful as was the furnishings in the room. The staff was very informative when checking in. We had only 1 washcloth and when made aware of it one was given immediately. Will stay again if in the area. Coffee in was wonderful.

Review 43:I liked that everything was in walking distance, we didn't have to drive anywhere, plenty of places to eat in the area, beautiful beaches minutes away to drive to, beautiful town, friendly employees, will book again for our wedding and wedding guests

Review 44:Beds we're a bit soft and there was opened bottles of coconut water in our room, one was almost empty.

Review 45:Room was clean and amenable, dining option good, restaurant was a fair price and good.

Review 46:Although it clearly looked like a modern hotel from the website, when we arrived, we were surprised how cold the room appeared. The loft ceilings were neat, but the concrete floor made it really not seem very cozy at all. The bathroom facilities were very nice though.

Review 47:Loved the location right in downtown Holland. It made it easy to get to and from restaurants, shops, etc. Also just a short drive from the beach, which was also a plus.

Review 48:Uncomfortable unwelcoming room. Bed too soft, seating miserable. No coffee pot in room. No complimentary breakfast. Value for room charge very low.

Review 49:Location close to a very beautiful friendly shopping/eating area.

Review 50:So contemporary with its finishes, it felt a little "cold". There wasn't much of a view from our room - just the parking lot. In order to remain "green", there wasn't a coffee maker in the room. We were told that this was to save energy.

Review 51:It's proximity to Holland's shops and restaurants. It's restaurant, CityVu, on the 5th floor. Free parking.

Review 52:Loved the high ceilings and spaciousness.

Review 53:Proximity to downtown.

Review 54:Was cold at first thermostat issues

Review 55:Very clean and comfortable friendly staff

Review 56:I wish breakfast was included into the price otherwise we loved our stay at City Flats in Holland.

Review 57:The room was very clean and comfortable.

Review 58:Everything is perfect

Review 59:modern furnitures, good composition, nice faculties, fast internet, reallllllly high ceiling and big room

Review 60:very chic and modern but still comfortable and professional

Review 61:No Bath Tub. No in-room coffee

Review 62:Very comfortable bed. Stylish room.

Review 63:A little pricey. Should have included a small breakfasr

Review 64:Location

Review 65:Trickle of a shower

Review 66:Loved how different each room is.

Review 67:Nothing!

Review 68:I loved how clean the hotel was. Great location, and friendly staff!

Review 69:Lights were a bit confusing. Needed to play around quite a bit to be able to read in bed and not have to get back up to hit wall switch.

Review 70:Bathroom is huge. Shower is roomy. Bed was so comfortable. Great room!

Review 71:Would have like coffee pot in room.. also we had left overs and no frig. that was okay but, needed coffee in a.m.

Review 72:bed was the best ever.

Review 73:Wish there would have been a pool.

Review 74:Layout of room, large space and bed.

Review 75:WE could not get breakfast until 10 AM !

Review 76:Great mattress!!

Review 77:No breakfast

Review 78:Great location, extremely helpful staff, very unique and within walking distance of shops and dining.

Review 79:Television was difficult to get used to

Review 80:We enjoyed the make up of the room and the walk in showers

Review 81:Great design, green elements impressive, location perfect!

Review 82:If you're looking for a place to stay while checking out the local brewery scene you can't get any better.

Review 83:No continental breakfast - poor selection for purchased breakfast menu

Review 84:-City Vu -Great cleaning staff -Fairly comfortable beds

Review 85:Everything, suburb choice within location, excellent value

Review 86:Bed was very soft. Some May like it. We prefer much firmer bed.

Review 87:Great location 1 block off downtown shopping and restaurants

Review 88:I loved the urban feel and look of the hotel!

Review 89:comfortable beds, modern decor, high ceilings, location close to everything downtown

Review 90:Liked the location and the restaurant and bar choices.

Review 91:wonderful location downtown holland--everything is walking distance.

Review 92:Man at desk was not very informative. He did not explain the sound system on the tv and we had to go late at night the first evening for asssistance. He also did not say anything about the restaurant in the Hotel when we asked for eating establishments he recommended.

Review 93:Our room was directly below the Kitchen on the top level. So we were woken up extremely early from all the noise in the kitchen preparing breakfast. It was the only complaint but it did suck pretty bad, given we were hoping to get done rest that morning.

Review 94:I like pretty much everything, the room and hotel was beautiful.

Review 95:Front desk personnel could've been a bit more friendly.

Review 96:The custom mattress and bedding were amazing! Most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. The restraunts happy hour is awesome and the roof top outdoor seating is lovely.

Review 97:Although your price is competitive I feel Michigan is very expensive when renting rooms and dining.

Review 98:decorating of rooms. availability of restaurant and bar.

Review 99:The Restaurant was average, the staff weren't friendly and my fish was way overdone, i didn't feel that complaining would changed anything.

Review 100:The best bed I've experienced.

Review 101:We had a problem with a very smelly mattress on our first night. However after we had told the staff in the morning they had checked it out and switched us to a new room very quickly(within 15 minutes!). So they resolved the problem well for us.

Review 102:Loved the rooms - modern, with great layouts. Mostly very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful Enjoyed the City sen lounge and the city vu bistro. Great location in Holland.

Review 103:If we had to pick something we disliked,it would have to be the shower head. A rain shower head and an additional head would have made the shower experience awesome as well! Very minor problem for us tho. Excellent staff and overall facility.

Review 104:Our sleep experience was awesome. We wanted to take the bed home with us!

Review 105:As coffee lovers, I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a coffee maker in the room. However, there was free coffee available in the lobby (and the coffee was excellent).

Review 106:My wife and I stayed at CityFlats Hotel Holland for a quick night away and we loved it. The modern decor of the hotel is just the type of feel we like in hotels. The layout of the room was great - very large with plenty of room to spread out. The bed was very comfortable with soft sheets (not something that is very common these days). We both enjoyed a great night's sleep. The happy hour at the CitySen Lounge was fantastic - we had a couple of drinks at a very reasonable price along with an appetizer before heading upstairs for dinner at the CityVu Bistro. The food was just as amazing as the view. My wife and I live close to Holland and have found a new restaurant to go to, even if we're not staying at the hotel.

Review 107:No place within the room to sit except the beds. A small (36" round) table and a couple chairs would have been nice for eating our room service food

Review 108:The beds and linen were soft and comfortable. We all had a great nites sleep. The food (restaurant and room service) was delicious and reasonably priced. Two TVs was super cool, too.

Review 109:Room to hot, bed not comfortable, Food at Hotel restaurant was average

Review 110:Clean roomClean bathroom, bamboo bedding and towels were a nice touch. Staff friendly.

Review 111:The water pressure wasn't the best, which is probably part of their LEED certification, but kind of annoying nonetheless. Also, the doors to the rooms were a little dinged up, making the hallway seem a little dingy.

Review 112:The staff was exceptional, the rooms were impeccable, and the building was beautiful!

Review 113:The noise coming from the kitchen being cleaned at 7:00 am Saturday morning. Other than than that everything was excellent.

Review 114:The beds... The sheets.... The restaurant... The staff.

Review 115:My wife and I liked the modern layout of our room. We also liked the non carpeted flooring and the cleanliness of the room. We had a great stay and would definitely be a repeat customer.

Review 116:Hotel staff was slow on check-in and check out. We had some tipsy neighbors who woke us up at 3 am and continued loud conversations for quite a while.

Review 117:Loved the decor, loved the fact that it is a LEED certified hotel, location was great, Sunday brunch was good, and it was a great place to stay. I would definately stay there again.

Review 118:Our room had no heat! We were unable to control it from the room. They told us because we "messed with it" that the systemwould take 45 minutes to function. They did give us a new room and$20 off the bill.

Review 119:The hotel is very modern in design and very well kept. The beds arewonderful. I bought a mattress from their supplier after I first stayedthere. I always look forward to staying there. The restaurant on the 5thfloor is great.

Review 120:This is very minor, but we had a confirmed King room through Booking.com and when we checked in it was not available. But we still had a lovely room with two queens, just not quite what we had expected. The hotel staff was very apologetic and we understood, just a minor glitch because the rest of the stay and property was marvelous.

Review 121:Loved everything about this hotel: design, construction, ambience, comfort, class, furnishings, the whole package just makes you feel good to stay there.

Review 122:Nothing....although more sandwiches on menu would be nice!

Review 123:This hotel is great for allergy sufferers....it is my favorite place to stay! Also, it is close to shopping! Breakfast was great!

Review 124:The room seemed crowded with couch in dark space .everything was so dark. The bathroom door was too noisy for middle of the night. Rain shower was too weak.

Review 125:The bed was the best I have slept in, including the covers. The restaurant was excellent. We had a meeting there.

Review 126:It is a bit expensive for a city like Holland

Review 127:This a classy boutique style hotel. The décor and furniture are very modern and clearly upscale. The staff members were very helpful.

Review 128:Noisy hotel room. Poured concrete floors with cork over them did not keep noise out from other guest rooms. Echoing noise from hallway guests and other rooms was disruptive.

Review 129:Leeds certified environmentally friendly hotel

Review 130:City Flats was among one of my all time favorite hotels. The design and use of color was beyond anything I have seen....even compared to Chicago Hotels at which I have stayed, such as the W. The most incredible aspect of my stay was the bed! It was soooo comfortable. I have a herniated disk and I slept for the first time, without pain, in months. The Bistro Restaurant has wonderful food and a great vibe. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Bring slippers though...the floors are rubber....which I really like aesthetically, but slippers would be good.

Review 131:Comfortable :)
