Reviews for American Boutique Inn - Lakeview
Review 1:Our room smelled like household cleaner the entire time we stayed there. On the ground floor, people were walking by our room so we had to keep the blinds closed all the time. Rooms and bathroom were very small.
Review 2:Location was great.
Review 3:It still looks like a Budget Host Motel- not what I was expecting. The mattresses are extremely firm and uncomfortable.
Review 4:The location was nice -so close to the bridge. Unfortunately, I was in a room hidden by a corridor.
Review 5:Cat. Outdated, cramped room Lake was very close but had to be outside to see it. Paid for lake view room. Wasn't available from any room. Balcony was dangerousness. Glad I didn't bring children. Must have used special camera. Looked much better online
Review 6:Location
Review 7:Fair price for a popular weekend stay. Did not book one of the themed rooms., but our room was okay for one night. Very firm beds. Easy parking and access to room.
Review 8:What a wonderfully relaxing evening after our long drive- the suggested upgrade was a minimal added cost for excellent return- the wine & cheese reception when we arrived was a great surprise; a tasty breakfast on their front lawn chairs, with sunny lake views- WOW!
Review 9:None
Review 10:Staff friendly and helpful. Room was small but newly updated called Beach Party room. Had palm tree in corner with Christmas lights. Picture of the movie Beah Party with Frankie Avalon & Annette Funicello and other beach theme. Wife thought it was very chic. Bathroom very small but clean. We stayed only 2 nights. Would have been a little small if we stayed much longer
Review 11:i did not have a bad experience.
Review 12:it was very clean and the owners were there to greet and meet those who used the facility food was plentiful and delicious. i would back again.
Review 13:Stairs were difficult for us to manage.
Review 14:We liked the hospitality and rooms. They brought our breakfast to our rooms upon request, which was fantastic. The staff was very helpful.
Review 15:Was disappointed with breakfast, so quaint in dining room we were hoping for something other than standard yogurt, dry bagels and canned fruit
Review 16:Very clean, no frills rm and property. Friendly staff and ideal location, right on walking path, good view of bridge and short walk to downtown
Review 17:The staff horrible. Value horrible, should've slept in car. Then only booked me one night not the two. Ruined my entire weekend. Will never stay in mackinac city again. St. Ignace is where I will go !
Review 18:Nothing
Review 19:Uncomfortable mattress; rooms not nearly as attractive as portrayed on website.
Review 20:Great location across street from State Park, close to bridge and waterfront.
Review 21:The shower had very low pressure/flow. WiFi was unusable.Thought the price was high, but it was a last minute booking, and few choices.
Review 22:We needed an overnight hotel last minute and this hotel was available. Location was excellent, friendly help, clean room, comfortable beds.
Review 23:The rooms were well appointed. Not fancy but very clean and well kept. A great value, with a great view and wonderful staff. Everyone was very accommodating and friendly. It was in a great location with a wonderful view.
Review 24:The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The room was outdated and bathroom tiny. The breakfast room was very small and cramped.
Review 25:I liked the location of the hotel. The owners were very pleasant and willing to accommodate.
Review 26:"Just steps from the waterfront, this Mackinaw City bed and breakfast features lake views from each uniquely-themed guest room" This is not a B&B!! This is a hotel.
Review 27:I liked the access to main street and the shoreline. Great access to Bridge views. Outdoor Pool looked very nice but did not use it. Check in/out very easy. Nice staff.
Review 28:Older, noise travels easily between rooms, but I slept well because I could run the fan/AC constantly to drown out noise
Review 29:Location, staff was excellent, clean rooms
Review 30:Free breakfast wasn't any more than cereal, bagels, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, and drinks. Was expecting a little more.
Review 31:Pool was nice. 88 degrees was refreshing.
Review 32:The mattresses were very hard and there was no box spring, just set on some 3/4" plywood. Overpowering smell of lysol, curtains didn't close completely and the bathroom could have been cleaner; handprints on the door and the corners were very dirty. The breakfast was basic but plentiful, however the seating was extremely limited.
Review 33:The location was fantastic, great view, easy access to the Mackinac bridge and ferries to the island. The pool was very nice.
Review 34:WiFi slow and room a little small if have children.
Review 35:Very clean room. Excellent view of lake and great location. Grounds were very beautiful and staff very nice and helpful. Swimming pool was heated which was great.
Review 36:The location is within walking distance of downtown. The pool looked inviting but it was a little too chilly to swim. The views were great and the grounds of the hotel were very nice.
Review 37:No refrigerator in room. Breakfast could be improved...in the season of fresh fruit, they serve canned mandarin oranges. Would be nice to see some home made muffins or coffee cake.
Review 38:If you took a bath, you had to turn the hot water on full blast and no cold water. If you took a shower, it was the opposite. Strange.
Review 39:My husband and I appreciated the quiet location, the convenience to the state park across the street, and the easy walk to the ferry. Beds in our room were comfy and the place was nice and clean.
Review 40:The hot water was not very hot!! The shower handle falls off. The TV volume goes off and on.A little over rated for the price.
Review 41:Location was great. We had a nice room and view. The grounds were beautiful.
Review 42:The breakfast included was very meager. Cold boiled eggs, small size pastries, bagels, coffee and juice. No coffee maker in room. Extremely small bathrooms.
Review 43:Cute well maintained little hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The pool was so much fun, heated and clean. The garden has places to sit and enjoy the scenery.
Review 44:The bed was too soft for me but the hotel would not know that.
Review 45:Staff was outstanding. Treated as family not anonymous traveler. The grounds are beautiful
Review 46:No usabe wifi, no coffee machine in room or microwave. Small beds. Less amenities than rooms at half the price in the same location.
Review 47:There was a pool and was a diet walk to a park with a view of the lake.
Review 48:This is a great spot. You can walk to downtown and shop. You can walk across the street and have a beautiful view of the bridge. The pool is great. Heated! The people who run the hotel are more than accommodating. We had a great time.
Review 49:Small rooms, no vanity to speak of (where do you put your things?) Need another towel bar by the sink. Bed was uncomfortable (personal preference) but room was quiet.
Review 50:Cute & quaint. Excellent location right across from the park, lakeshore and view of the bridge. Easy to walk downtown and to the ferry boat docks. Nice pool with warm water. Decent breakfast and very nice wine and cheese reception in the afternoon. Clean rooms but small. Very friendly and helpful staff. WiFi worked great. Beautiful landscaping and wooden swings to enjoy outdoors. We would return.
Review 51:A/C unit was loud and water pressure/temp in shower fluctuated often.
Review 52:Small hotel is right across the street from an awesome view of the Mackinaw Bridge. Every bit of this hotel is very clean and neat. Continental breakfast was exactly what we needed. Bed was comfy and Summer Place room was decorated "cute".
Review 53:it is a 1950 motel which they decorated with tacky decor. we also felt the price $250.00 was way out of line. we were given a small bar of soap w which used for both shower and sink
Review 54:location was okay and room was clean
Review 55:Bathroom was very small. Flowers in the Secret Garden were a bit overdone.
Review 56:Staff was very friendly. Room was very clean and close to downtown. Breakfast was very good and dining room darling!!
Review 57:Needed a fan above The bed to move the humid air. Each day woke up to moisture soaked boots. Lol Not anyone's fault really.... That's nature! Lol!
Review 58:Couple in charge were very nice, very helpful. Others that were staying there must have been Repeat customers....all very sweet and helpful! Very clean! Nice n quiet! Peaceful grounds to relax on!
Review 59:We disliked everything about it.
Review 60:I will tell what we did not like.. They advertised a lakeview - therewas no lakeview at all. Room was very small and outdated. We were veryuncomfortable in it and it cost us a lot of money.
Review 61:Very small bathroom A little outdated - altho I did not stay in one of the themed rooms. I thought it was a bit pricey for an older room.
Review 62:Location Very helpful & pleasant staff Wifi available Quiet
Review 63:I thought the breakfast would have been a little bit more substantial. A lot of the hotels in the area promote a hot breakfast and this small addition would make a big difference.
Review 64:Homey atmosphere staff was very helpful and friendly unique decor. Not a cookie cutter hotel. LOVED the cat!
Review 65:I think the bathrooms were a tad small.
Review 66:I really enjoyed how accommodating the host was, as I called to make a reservation last minute! I also really enjoyed the views...you can see the Mackinaw Bridge right from the hotel and the water all around you. I also really enjoyed the warmer pool, as it can get really breezy by the lake.
Review 67:Beds were hard as rocks. Pillows were extremely thin. Bathtub needs to be re caulked (mold).
Review 68:Location was great. Man at the desk was very friendly and gave us some great tips on where to go and what to eat. I really liked Spencer the cat.
Review 69:Felt like a bed and breakfast, but breakfast was barely continental. Prices in this place and all others in Mackinaw City are way out of whack. Summer rates of $200-$300/night just for a view of a bridge between two lakes? Too much.
Review 70:The location was very nice and the grounds showed pride. Great views. If you have to stay in Mackinaw City, might as well stay here. Would have been good value at $50 less.
Review 71:Room we chose was on the small side.
Review 72:The small breakfast room was delightfully decorated. The continental breakfast was very good quality. Nice pool. Close to main town area and ferries to Mackinac Island. Super clean room.
Review 73:Love the location for access to the beach, bridge, and town. It was also nice getting discounts for the ferry and some restaurants. Very nice staff.
Review 74:The only thing we had a problem with is the bed was very soft and not comfortable and the advertisement made it sound like a breakfast was included instead of it being a light continental breakfast.
Review 75:Staff was very helpful. Room was very clean and quiet and grounds are beautiful and we'll kept! It was an easy walk to the shopping area of the city.
Review 76:I WAS IN THE GRAND HOTEL ROOM, IT WAS VERY NOISY BEING SO CLOSE to the pool. I thought the room was over priced.
Review 77:It was clean. Staff was friendly. They have a great cat.
Review 78:Our room was not as clean as we had hoped. The bathroom was extremely small and is far overdue for rehab. Tub, tile, ceiling, floor all need to be replaced. We noticed long black hairs in the tub on our 2nd day there. Neither of us had long black hair. My husband was furious. He scooped the hair into a Kleenex and brought it down with him to breakfast. However, the owner did not seem too concerned about it. It made me wonder who was showering in our bathroom while we were gone?
Review 79:The location is key: it is within walking distance of the Shepler's Ferry dock and only a 2 minute walk from downtown Mackinac City. The Inn faces the lake, providing heavenly views. Breakfast was included. All very nice. The grounds were meticulously groomed, beautiful flowers blooming all around.
Review 80:Very noisy around pool. Rooms were dated and beds were uncomfortable. Breakfast was minimal with poor choices.
Review 81:Staff was great and location was very good. Great looks from the outside.
Review 82:I would like to recommend more towel holders. The bathroom is small and culture more towel bars or a portable clothes line in the shower.
Review 83:The staff were friendly and services were great. Our room was clean and comfortable. The location was excellent and the grounds were meticulous. The pool was clean and the water was warm enough to swim even though the air was chilly. We plan to return.
Review 84:The motel needs uodating. The room smelled musty. It could of been because it was near the water but I didn't expect it. Also, the water switched hot to cold during my shower. It really was like being at home.
Review 85:Excellent staff, great location, great breakfast.
Review 86:The breakfast is rather basic, but, which I guess is to be expected for an inn / for a motel.
Review 87:Owners are so friendly and helpful, really enjoyed staying there.
Review 88:Beds were a bit too firm for my liking, but I was able to get a good night's rest.
Review 89:Well-appointed breakfast room with a wide variety of food and beverage selections. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location near the Mighty Mac bridge and parks along the lake. Plenty of parking.
Review 90:Wish the pool was open before noon. We liked to leave and go sightseeing early and couldn't use it early.
Review 91:Very close to the action in Mackinaw City. Definately worth getting the luxury room, the bed was very comfortable.
Review 92:Rooms could use a bit of updating.
Review 93:Location is perfect. A few steps across the street is a park with a sidewalk that runs along the beach all the way to the Mackinac Bridge. Hotel landscaping is gorgeous and the afternoon wine and cheese reception is a nice touch.
Review 94:I have stayed here numerous times. The hotel and rooms are charming and clean, outdoor pool very clean and nice, pretty gardens, can walk to view of bridge and downtown. Feels homey and comfortable.
Review 95:We do wish the pool opened up earlier and closed a little later. The bathroom was kind of small and some things like the TVs could be updated. But these were not that big of a deal as a sink area is placed outside the bathroom so you can get ready while someone else is in the shower. Also while old, the TV had a large screen and many channels to watch, and who needs a plasma tv in such a beautiful location?
Review 96:Staff was very friendly and it was in a great location with a beautiful view of the lake and a short walk to the ferry and the main strip of the city. The themed rooms were a nice touch. heated pool and free morning breakfast dropped off to our room was a definite plus. Rooms were also quiet which was nice for my girlfriend and I who were on a romantic weekend getaway.
Review 97:Nice room for breakfast which was good.
Review 98:Location / breakfast / decoration
Review 99:Room is clean and very nice owners. Location is convenient to access parks and ferry.
Review 100:No convenient access to a micro wave.
Review 101:The view of the sun rising over Lake Huron each morning. Peaceful and quiet at night.
Review 102:Very quite great price
Review 103:Across the street from a park with a view of the mighty mac bridge!
Review 104:Nothing.
Review 105:Wonderful room.
Review 106:This was one of the nicest and cleanest room we have every stayed in. Staff was exceptionally helpful.
Review 107:nice view over bridge and lake
Review 108:Did not realize I had booked the lowest style room they had. It was not pleasant.
Review 109:Very close to ferry dock.
Review 110:Bathroom was really small.
Review 111:Nice hotel with a great location.
Review 112:The wifi didn't work well because our room was far from the office.
Review 113:Loved the location. Walked to the town everyday and it was right by the beach.
Review 114:Location, staff assistance and lake view
Review 115:NO COMFORTABLE CHAIR/LOUNGE IN THE ROOM. NOISY NEIGHBORS, NO REFRIGERATOR
Review 116:LOCATION EXCELLENT, GREAT ICE MACHINE
Review 117:The foo was charming. Th.e pool was warm. The grounds were gorgeous. Breakfast was brought to your room if requested.
Review 118:Everyone was very helpful and friendly.
Review 119:the floor going to the rooms
Review 120:the room
Review 121:Location, cuteness, warm pool, loved flowers!
Review 122:Bed was not very comfortable
Review 123:Cleanliness and great breakfast
Review 124:Wish there had been a coffee pot in the room!
Review 125:We loved the view, the grounds, and the outdoor pool!
Review 126:Rooms not at all like photos. Very worn tiny and old. Walkways poorly maintained. Seen it days.Smallest shower and toilet area ever seen.
Review 127:Room was very small - bathroom very small. Strict rules for pool - did not open until noon! Breakfast not good at all.
Review 128:Location was great
Review 129:darling
