Reviews for Aspire Hotel and Suites
Review 1:When I travel, I have to keep in touch with my business and website all the time, so WIFI is very important to me. This site was rated with wifi, but when I got there, I was disappointed to see this simply was not the case. First, their "wife" doesn't support IOS (IPAD) or Android devices. Nothing to connect. Second, my PC could see the network but never could connect. They did have a network connection and they put a Deposit on my room when they "Lent" me an ethernet cable. Connection was very slow. For fairness to travelers, WIFI should not be listed as a feature for this hotel. Had I known this in advance, I would not have picked this hotel.
Review 2:Rooms were clean, breakfast in their restaurant was a very good value. Everything nice except for one thing (see what I didn't like).
Review 3:There was a lot we didn't like. The on-line ads are very misleading, especially regarding the indoor pool---there is no indoor pool, it is inthe adjoining hotel, a long cold walk from our hotel. The snotty kidbehind the desk said "It's only 200 feet from here"---atotal lie. The beginning of the other hotel was 200 feet away, but thepool was much much further. The same holds true for the restaurant. AlsoI think we could have gotten the room cheaper if we booked directly withthe hotel, rather than w/Booking.com, so it really makes me questionyour service. And you couldn't open the window in the room, and theheater/fan was very loud & unpleasant. And the food forbreakfast was terrible.
Review 4:They didn't want to give me a receipt that I paid they said that booking.com and give me a receipt that I paid ! I paid with my credit card and I felt I should get a receipt but I made him print out The paper I filled out When I first got there.
Review 5:Wallpaper coming off walls in bathroom; swimming pool area was nice but was a fairly long walk from the Aspire through many hallways, twists, and turns and into the next property, the Eisenhower. Funny smells in the connecting hallways going to pool area.
Review 6:Rooms were very large and beds were comfortable. Got a last minute half price deal that made it worth the price. One evening the hotel had a complimentary ice cream sundaes which was a nice surprise!
Review 7:Internet worked horribly on the third floor.Pool was in another hotel and hot tub was closed.Pool area was extremely dark at night.Game room and fitness center also in other hotel and only 2 or 3 games and machines.Long walk to other hotel but had indoor walkway.Mini golf in hotel pictures weren't part of the hotel but another business on the property.Pricey
Review 8:Staff was friendly.Rooms were huge, clean, and comfortable.Ice cream social was nice when we checked in.Non-smoking property. Location was 4 miles to downtown Gettysburg.
Review 9:The cleaning staff started knocking on our door at 8:30am...check out wasn't until 11. We were still asleep. It was very rude and annoying. The couch and chair in the room were filthy even though the rest of the room was very clean.
Review 10:The room was huge..lots of space. We didn't feel cramped at all. Very quiet location. Just outside of Gettysburg and away from the crowd but close enough to still enjoy all that the town has to offer.
Review 11:My TV did not work and lead to confusion. So getting weather predictions for the next day was slightly unpredictable.
Review 12:Very Friendly and location was very good. Very clean and the rooms were big.
Review 13:Very nice hotel. Large clean rooms friendly staff. Mike at the desk was very helpful this was not our first trip to Gettysburg but our first stay here have already told people about it.
Review 14:We needed to do laundry it was located in the next hotel along with the pool. To get there you had to go through many creepy long hallways to a corridor connecting the two hotels. In the other hotel there was no one working. It was straight out of a ghost film. The hotel was so outdated and creepy I would never stay again.
Review 15:The hotel looks nothing like the management pictures online. I felt likeI was walking into a ghost town. This hotel was joined with anotherhotel and shared the pool. To get to the pool you had to walk a greatdistance through creepy and hot abandoned hallways. Once at the pool wewere disappointed by the size and condition. We didn't swim. Therooms were dirty, in fact we had to change rooms. The carpet was old anddusty. My allergies went into full gear! The beds were terrible! Iwanted to leave and find another room 10 minutes after check in but thehotel said they would charge us for the night. The front desk attendanttold me my allergies were just acting up because Ohio and Pennsylvaniaare different. Seriously! Is he a Dr.? I think I know my body andallergies better then him considering I had only known him for 5 minutesand I am a health professional. When we checked out we weren't evenasked how our stay was. Terrible stay...buyer beware!
Review 16:Price
Review 17:The wifi was erratic, super slow, or non existent. When I called the office I was informed no one else has complained....today. We were offered another room but it was late and we postponed the move until morning. The next day the clerk at the front desk was unable to approve a move. Eventually we were moved to another room and the wifi was much better but still not "high speed". we were given a discount on the first night for our inconvenience.
Review 18:Rooms were spacious and clean. Friendly staff. Refrigerator and microwave included and the two sinks were a nice touch.
Review 19:Didn't care for one of the morning staff member, when desk staff asked for coffee refills in lobby. She told the desk when she had time she would get to it, then when a group had walked out the back stairwell exit door to smoke, she poked her head out looking for a desk person and asked why the ashtray holder was moved and holding the door open.... We all thought the door would lock if shut so we propped it open. Honest mistake... Not a happy person working with the public. And seriously 7:30 a.m. and I'll get to the coffee when I can... What kind of answer was that? Ppl want coffee in the a.m.
Review 20:A little out of the way but not too far from town. Quiet
Review 21:Could connect to WiFi.
Review 22:I was able to work while my family stayed busy with all the hotel had to offer. Very nice pool, Lounge had great selection of alcohol and the bed was so comfortable I didn't want to get up.
Review 23:The only real complaint I have is such a limited tv selection. I did not use the wi fi this trip because I had very limited time at the room.
Review 24:rooms were very spacious, I liked the fact that my room had a very nice bathroom . The room was very clean and neat.
Review 25:The pool listed was actually in the hotel connected to Aspire and therefore a little far away. The website also stated there was a game room, but that is not correct. Overall, we were there to tour Gettysburg so it wasn't a huge deal for our family, but would be nice if the website was more accurate.
Review 26:This was a very nice, clean and quiet hotel. There was a soccer tournament the same weekend we were there and we never heard anyone. It was wonderful. The staff was friendly and the entire hotel was very clean.
Review 27:For a family of 5, we had plenty of room and were comfortable. The pool facility was nice and enjoyable. Hotel is located about 4 miles from downtown Gettysburg's main attractions but worth the drive for our family. Would stay again!
Review 28:almost $200 a night and no HBO ... come on and get into the 21st century. no restaurant?
Review 29:Quiet. Easy access to Gettysburg. Staff was friendly.
Review 30:The hotel room, while large, was lacking in lighting - the room was very dim. Two of the lightbulbs in the bathroom were burnt out. Additionally, the TV remote did not work and the battery compartment was taped shut. The room in which I stayed was non-smoking; however, it smelled of stale smoke. The hotel appeared dated and had a musty odor throughout.
Review 31:The hotel staff were friendly and the meeting space adequate for the conference I attended. The food was good and the waitstaff/bartenders for our conference dinner were great. The hotel room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable.
Review 32:-catering food was not very tasty or of good quality -check out speed was slow -computer in lobby was not connected to the Internet -the room that our exhibits were in was extremely hot and uncomfortable
Review 33:the size of the room was very spacious
Review 34:The weekend I stayed happened to be the same weekend as the dog show so I had to deal with the smell all throughout the first floor
Review 35:The Aspire was perfect for my trip. I will definitely be back to this Hotel every time I'm in town.
Review 36:The hotel was clean and a great value. The location is perfect. It is 0.8 miles from the battlefield. It has easy access to the highway to other locations. The hotel has a deli and a lounge/restaurant. Buffet breakfast for 11.95. I would definitely use this hotel again.
Review 37:Something was always broken: ellevator, ice machine, then both elevators.
Review 38:A nice facility. Meeting rooms well set up in advance. Refrigerator in all the rooms. When built 20 years ago it was the local jewel. The All Star Complex was perfect for our dog show.
Review 39:The lobby was my only complaint, and really only the ceiling height. The ceiling height in the rooms is much higher.
Review 40:When we checked into the aspire I was a bit nervous about what our room would be like because the lobby was not what I expected...very low ceiling that was not in the best condition. The room however was lovely. Very large and comfortable. We arrived ten minutes before the pool was supposed to close at the Eisenhower next door, but the security guard on duty allowed us to use the pool well after hours so long as we didn't make a lot of noise. This was awesome since we had been sitting in the car with two kids for about 8 hours. The Eisenhower's pool was gorgeous. ..more like a tiny indoor water park with rooms opening into it like a courtyard. It had the old time beauty and charm of an old fashioned resort like the one in dirty dancing. I wish we had stayed longer. ..it was so close to Gettysburg sights and just lovely.
Review 41:Could have marketed the restaurant or lounge more. The signs weren't very informative. They should be silent salespeople. We had to ask about the lounge and ask about breakfast as we had planned on eating offsite.
Review 42:Close to Downtown Gettysburg Quiet Good for a family trip Large room
Review 43:There are two hotels on site and a;; facilities, i.e. laundry, are in the closed down section. If you have seen The Shining - this is exactly like that. Enough said.
Review 44:Very little
Review 45:The pool was freezing!!!!! There was no hot tub and the deli food was horrible
Review 46:I loved the room. It was spacious and comfortable. My son had a great time at the amusement park.
Review 47:Breakfast was so far away. You could set up continental breakfast in eating area near front desk- offer real coffee and cream there available at most hours! Could use some sitting area outside.
Review 48:Spacious and comfortable room
Review 49:Advertised a sports complex for kids which was closed. Pool was very dimly lit and the adjoining Eisenhower complex was like a ghost town .
Review 50:Room on the first floor was conveniently located, clean and big at a good price. The few staff we met were nice. If you need just a place to sleep, it is okay.
Review 51:The pool water was ice cold the first day we tried using it and had items floating in it. The second day we tried using the pool, the pool area was closed.
Review 52:Only three minutes away from the Gettysburg National Military Park and didnt have the traffic in downtown Gettysburg.
Review 53:Limited eating possibilities. The restaurant was completely deserted and dark when we went to have a look. Have to go into town or buy your own stuff.
Review 54:Beautiful location in countryside close to Gettysburg. Very big rooms with huge comfortable beds. Helpful staff.
Review 55:Nothing.
Review 56:The desk staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Review 57:Bed broke Could not take shower Walk a mile to restaurants
Review 58:The place could use a mild renovation.
Review 59:Large rooms. Quiet.
Review 60:Dinng
Review 61:Everything. Love this hotel. Will be back :)
Review 62:Shower head and faucet was awful. Hairdryer didn't work. Fitted sheet did not stay on the bed.
Review 63:Hotel needs some updates The hot tub was out of service
Review 64:Large room Beautiful property friendly staff!!
Review 65:The hotel was extremely close to the Gettysburg National Military Park and enough out of the way that it wasn't in the center of the town.
Review 66:Well worth the money... Ended upstaging multiple nights
Review 67:Wireless was less than hood
Review 68:Very clean and modern
Review 69:Bathtub was cracked and didn't drain ..needed replaced years ago.. beds were bad and room was very noisy
Review 70:Comfortable quiet.
Review 71:Limited knowledgable staff
Review 72:Our time with friends . The rooms were clean & the lounge staff was very cordial
Review 73:One bed was not too comfortable.
Review 74:The staff was extremely helpful!
Review 75:First room blood on sheets. Was put into a second room it was worse.
Review 76:Nothing
Review 77:smell of the carpets, old carpeting, expensive for an old hotel
Review 78:location
Review 79:We didn't like that there was no breakfast included with our stay.
Review 80:The room was big and very comfortable.
Review 81:The staff there was very attentive to making us feel welcome.
Review 82:broken items in room that took way too long to repair
Review 83:kind of dark, the lightening could be better
Review 84:the size of the room was great. We enjoyed the arrangement
Review 85:The wifi doesn't work very well
Review 86:Room was very clean and comfortable. Clerks at front desk were very friendly.
Review 87:Their rooms are really nice and front desk was very nice and helpful.
Review 88:Pool was too cold for kids to enjoy. They were so looking forward to pool time. Could see why no one was using pool. Food prices.
Review 89:Out of the way setting. Yet close to attractions
Review 90:If the facility had a pool, no one on staff mentioned it. No amenities mentioned or offered.
Review 91:Price from booking.com was excellent. Room size was very spacious.
Review 92:i booked & when I got there desk couldn't find my name...called their other hotel next door & for some reason I was booked there. I went next door & asked how I got booked at that hotel & it was because of overbooking. I did get a slight discount but the one I booked looked like it was much newer & dare I say cleaner. This hotel has to get all new rugs not just clean them, they're too, too, dirty to just clean. Bathrooms were just ok, very dated. Beds were ok.
Review 93:not a far drive from town & battlefield.
Review 94:The directions on the internet were off - but we called in & Thomastalked us the rest of the way there! Pool was freezing & needed alittle upgrade. But the pool area was very neat! It is a little older ucan tell - needed a few upgrades - but still a great place!!
Review 95:Room size was surprisingly great!! Thomas & Elizabeth (staff) wereexcellent to help us! We all had a great stay! Kids loved the pool area!
Review 96:There should be some sort of information packet in the rooms with the hours of the pool, dining areas, etc. There was a bulletin board in the lobby area but I never did see the pool hours on it.
Review 97:The rooms were spacious and had everything that we needed, coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator.
Review 98:To get towels and I light bulb we called the front desk 3 times with no luck. Finally we had to go down and talk to the front desk. The pool area is in the old part. It was very dirty. The water was very cold, you couldn't see thru it. There were kids in there out of control. They were dumping drinks in the pool. One young child almost drowned. The kids were running around the pool falling. It was a accident waiting to happen. They need to have a staff member in there for the kids safety. The parents were not watching their children at all. The food in the gift shop and restraunt was very nasty. Kids were running up and down the halls all hours of the night. There was a soccer group staying. Most of the parents were in the bar while their children just ran crazy and unsupervised. I felt they were very understaffed and unable to take care of things properly. They even ran out of towels.
Review 99:The rooms were nice and roomy. They were clean. Our room had 2 king beds, pull out couch, microwave and small refrigerator. Everything else was a disappointment. The pool, food, etc. If you just staying for the room and not the amenities then this is a nice place.
Review 100:Beautiful grounds with large very comfortable rooms. The rooms had King Size beds with a large couch and desk where I was able to use my laptop. I would definitely stay here again to do some photography shoots in the surrounding Gettysburg area.
Review 101:WAY OVER PRICED! smelled like mildew in parts of the hallway going to the Eisenhower area. had to wait 20 min for check in. Got there at 3:30pm and the desk had to call several people to see why rooms weren't ready. No breakfast included. Out dated and dirty hallways. carpet stained wallpaper peeling. needs a desperate face lift. Will never stay again!
Review 102:size of room
Review 103:I would have liked if they served a breakfast. The room had a few minor cleaning issues but none that we felt would ruin our experience at Aspire.
Review 104:We were pretty pleased with our stay. The room was very comfortable and had the amenities we were looking for. The price was the important decision in booking with Aspire.
Review 105:The room was spacious and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was more than helpful, The hotel was a short distance from the hustle and bustle of Gettysburg, so it was wonderfully quiet and peaceful. I would highly recommend staying at the Aspire.
Review 106:The location for the hotel is excellent the staff is well versed about the area and had good suggestions of food etc in the area. Would definantly stay again.
Review 107:Pleased with everything!!
Review 108:We loved the location. It was close to the things we wanted to do inGettysburg during our stay. The rooms are huge!! We had a double becausewe had our two granddaughters with us so we needed two beds. The bedsare King size which we loved and they thought that was awesome! The roomalso had a couch, a desk and chair and could of fit another bedprobably. It had a small frig and microwave and a seperate extra sinkarea outside the bathroom. It was affiliated with The Eisenhower so theyshared a pool, which was enclosed and a large area with tables andchairs where we could sit and watch the girls swim. They were also veryaccomodating! They were able to put us across the hall from the otherpeople we were traveling with!! I will definately stay here again in ourfuture visit to Gettysburg!
Review 109:There was no TV station info in room. Also, there was not general info about the hours or exercise room, restaurant hours, or general info about the facilities. When I asked at the front desk--comment was they were looking in this.
Review 110:The rooms were clean and comfortable. As was the rest of the complex.
Review 111:Pillows are fairly dense, so bring your own if you like fluffy pillows.
Review 112:Very close to Gettysburg, large comfortable room with microwave and refrigerator. Very clean
Review 113:A sandwich was left in the microwave.
Review 114:This was a very nice hotel with very nice landscaping. The room was extremely comfortable with microwave, frig, iron, and hairdryer. The restaurant, lounge, and deli gave choices for dining. The shuttles provided good transportation.
Review 115:The walls were paper thin, after driving 7 hours, we could not get anysleep due to the people in the next room. I could hear the peopletalking and sneeze! I will never stay there again. I tried to have ourroom moved, we would have had to go to another building in the middle ofthe night. I have never in my life heard people sneeze so clear in thenext hotel room ever. Then they were noisy at 6:30am the followingmorning. Needless to say, we were exhausted the following day from nosleep and I still had to drive 3 more hours. Never again.
Review 116:The only thing that would have made it any better would have been to provide a breakfast.
Review 117:Great location and easy to get to Gettysburg Civil War Park. The price was great!
Review 118:nothing!!!! Maybe there could be your good coffee in the lobby in the morning!
Review 119:I book this vacation to Gettysburg for my husband and myself, then changed to my Son and daughter-in-law and their two boys. From the very first time seeing it I was impressed. The woman from house-keeping (Connie) she was super she just went out of her way to show me around to the room we would be using in. They were very similar to the Hampton Hotel we stayed in in Florida. All of the staff was friendly, I just can't say enough about our stay if your going to Gettysburg the Aspire is the place to stay. I will be tell all our friends about it being the place to go.
Review 120:The finish and furnishings were old and tired. Repairs to walls in the room weren't finished, drywall mud but no paint on the patch. The room vibrated, it wasn't the A/C and I don't think I was over a mechanical room since I was on the 3rd floor.
Review 121:The staff was pleasant, the bathroom was clean.
Review 122:inconsistency in breakfast options and prices quoted by servers for buffet; even items ordered from the "continental" menu came up differently for different people (one egg versus two or one piece of toast versus two)
Review 123:ability to keep family group together in large room; pool; other activities
Review 124:Wake up calls when I didn't ask for them at 0600 in the morning. Failed to fix the problem. A 0600 fire alarm that was a mistake. No room service for three days. A totally unresponsive and or incompetent staff.
Review 125:Mattresses on beds were old and squeaky - need to be replaced. Locationwas a bit far from town (Gettysburg)
Review 126:Staff was very helpful. Price was very reasonable.
Review 127:The accompanying Eisenhower hotel was in terrible condition (attachedvia hallway). The b-fast was held in their restaurant and was very poor, though it served the basic need to eat prior to heading out.
Review 128:We found this hotel to be updated, clean, and easily accessible to theGettysburg battlefield. I'm sure there was more family friendlythings to enjoy, but we didn't have our kids with us. It definitelyserved our purpose of a comfortable place to relax/sleep whileexploring Gettysburg. The cost through booking.com was a real deal.
