Reviews for Gettysburg Hotel

Review 1:No refrigerator in room

Review 2:Comfortable beds, no noise , great shower, plenty of towels, fan in bathroom, nice bar/restaurant. Area was very central to what we planned on seeing.

Review 3:The breakfast staff in the restaurant is not especially customer-friendly or attentive.

Review 4:Nice room, good parking (a premium in downtown Gettysburg), good food and drink

Review 5:We (3 people) stayed 3 nights. We were only provided one roll of toilet tissue. None on the 2nd day so I thought for sure hoysekeeping would leave a roll on the 3rd day but did not. I did call the front desk for a roll. Towels were left each day and toilet tissue should be too

Review 6:Very nice location. We had a room that overlooked the main street

Review 7:Hotel staff was fantastic and accommodating. We were there for a wedding & the staff allowed us to check in early & held slippers for my friend so she could slip into her dancing shoes. They go the extra mile!

Review 8:Not a bad experience - just, let's say, disappointing. So much is bare bones. No personality to this historic hotel. Pool area, for example, quite barren. No towels mid afternoon of very hot day.

Review 9:Staff helpful and friendly.

Review 10:Normally we stayed at high-end national chain hotels wanting to be sure of services and quality. This small boutique hotel was a bountiful surprise. Perfectly located in downtown Gettysburg within walking distance to restaurants and historic sites and within a short drive to the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center (auto tour goes right through downtown to all the battlefield sites). Parking available at immediate rear of the building for a small extra charge, restaurant and bar on site, elevator to upper floors. Staff was terrific and very helpful. I can't say enough about this very sweet historic hotel. I highly recommend it and will be sure to stay there when next visiting Gettysburg or the surrounding areas.

Review 11:Great big room, very clean. Staff was very nice. Close to all attractions. Price was great for off season. Restaurants were all very good! Enjoyed the stay!

Review 12:I booked a room for wkend thru Booking.com. Double rooms with double beds. DD with DD NSM - Gettsburg's own words. Gettsburg Hotel gave me 1 room not a suite I booked. I complained but they said DD with a DD does not mean Double room/Double Bed? Really, it makes sense to me. Than why not a S - Single room with DD beds. They were booked for an event and did no honor my contract or try to make it better! they blamed Booking .com for showing wrong picture but the acronyms says it all!

Review 13:It was a nice hotel in the middle of everything, clean, expensive but a very nice weekend get away location. All restaurants around are excellent. Friendly people but not customer oriented in helping with problems or offering a win win solution.

Review 14:Linens were wrinkled and didn't seem fresh. Hotel restaurant food wasn't great. Ingredients weren't fresh in salad. Breakfast was not great and pricey

Review 15:Conveniently located for my needs. Room was clean, spacious and simple. Lobby was clean and tastefully decorated.

Review 16:The late check-in and the staff were not very friendly about it. I realize pressure can get to you, then if someone can't handle the stress then that person should not be dealing the public. We asked to be called when our room was ready, they said they can't do that. We had to sit in the lobby waiting for over an hour for our room. We finally got in at 5:30p after I had to check with them again about our room. They said it was ready. Why didn't they tell us it was ready. DID NOT LIKE IT AT ALL.

Review 17:The looks of the hotel were great. Clean and comfortable.

Review 18:Everything was excellent except that our room was located over the bar. The noise was minimal and ceased at a reasonable time. Staff couldn't have bee more helpful. Loved being in the middle of town.

Review 19:The Parking Garage needs to give better directions on self pay

Review 20:The atmosphere and the clean and sparkling grounds. The cleaning people were very friendly and told us to have a great day!

Review 21:Check-in was unhelpful. Offered nothing without interrogation. Getting the details on the parking arrangements and options was a bit like pulling proverbial hens' teeth. Did not deign to inform me that there were baggage trolleys hidden around the corner despite what should have been obvious to the member of staff at check-in - I was travelling encumbered with a fair amount of luggage and a baby son. However this I would suggest is typical of a certain phlegmatism prevalent in the people from the area (I grew up and went to school in Gettysburg). It did not detract from our stay and should not deter anyone from using the hotel. Some other staff were helpful and more forthcoming, giving balance to the situation. The only serious complaint is about the price, which is well over the odds - but that I assume is also about the dearth of comparable facilities in the town and the economic imperatives of a summer tourist destination.

Review 22:Central location on the town square with walking access to restaurants, shops, the college, etc.. Comfortable and reasonably well-facilitated rooms.

Review 23:You must pay to park your car in a parking garage. I paid $200 for a room for 4 per night. Nice room, but nothing exceptional and then $10 a day to park.

Review 24:Center of town

Review 25:Helpfulness of staff and an excellent location with great amenities.

Review 26:Location is excellent for exploring downtown Gettysburg. Front desk staff was excellent. Rooms were spacious and very comfortable.

Review 27:Super friendly staff, wonderful views from a very spacious room.

Review 28:Great location. Can walk to everything. Parking garage adjacent to hotel

Review 29:no towels at pool. Only one towel in bathroom for three quest. Requested top floor months ago, received 2nd floor

Review 30:nothing

Review 31:location

Review 32:Overpriced.

Review 33:The bed was very comfortable!

Review 34:There is so much to do in Gettysburg that we wish we had planned an extra day.

Review 35:Food at the hotel was ok but there were places near by that was pretty good.

Review 36:Great location to walk around.

Review 37:Hotel is awesome. Close to all of the restaurants, bars, shops etc. Can't see why anyone would not want to stay here. Awesome place.

Review 38:Very noisy air conditioning

Review 39:Good location

Review 40:No complimentary coffee in the morning & having to pay for parking. $200 per night should cover parking.

Review 41:No coffee in the lobby. Front desk was a little too business like. They need to be a little more pleasent.

Review 42:Rooms were clean and fairly good sized,

Review 43:Can not get train or bus to place

Review 44:Best hotel to visit the history of gettysburg

Review 45:No porter No parking Trucks and trucks and trucks!

Review 46:Nothing

Review 47:it would be nice to get a little something towards breakfast

Review 48:location, comfort,clean

Review 49:Blinds in the room- while they were pretty- not private nor light blocking- other than that- everything was lovely.

Review 50:Location and cleanliness.

Review 51:Reserved 2 Mos ago and they put us in a room with a view of the roof and alley. Service @ breakfast slow. Hotel overpriced

Review 52:You need to park in a public car park at max $10 each day but do not let that put you off.

Review 53:Great location with spacious and clean rooms. A well maintained hotel which makes it well worth staying. It is not top of the range but a very good hotel for the price.

Review 54:Everything was great. There was nothing we didn't like. One idea might be for coffee to be available in the lobby in tha morning.

Review 55:The location was perfect for our needs, the entire experience was great.

Review 56:We asked for a quiet room, which it was until around midnight when some very loud bar clientele were outside below our window. The quiet room was above the bar! I did hear someone chase the people away. Beds were a little soft for my back.

Review 57:The hotel was nicely appointed, clean and located in the center of Gettysburg with parking around the corner.

Review 58:Wonderful location in the heart of Gettysburg. The building dates back to before the Civil War. The bed was wonderful with beautiful sheets and bedding.

Review 59:The rooms are new and very nicely appointed, great beds for sleeping. Our room was in the front, great view. It was my husbands birthday so having a nice room with a great view was appreciated.

Review 60:I despised the booking company that I had--I wanted to confirm my room, was given the run around of several different numbers--NONE of which were correct--it was apparent they didn't have a clue! When I finally got the front desk, they couldn't have been anymore cooperative and friendly...thank you front desk for me, please???

Review 61:I loved being close to the tree lighting ceremony, loved the decor and atmosphere, and the staff could not have been accomodating!!

Review 62:Bathroom floor was ice cold, and bathroom draw fan made it worse with no way to turn it off, except by turning out the light as well. Hallways were cold in the hotel

Review 63:Comfortable bed; dining room staff excellent especially Camille, waitress, and William was outstanding finding a table for us for Thanksgiving. We really appreciated the dining room staff, excellent service

Review 64:Breakfast should be included for price and $10.00 parking The room waslarge but they had no nice chairs to sit in...it was the desk chair orthe bed The coffee maker was pathetic and really no room service..youhave to walk downstairs

Review 65:The location was fantastic we were in the heart of the squareWe walked to a pub next door and had a reasonable meal Then a great irish pub down the street Lots of stores to look in and buy souvenirs

Review 66:room could use chairs and a small table to grab a bite at, also the lack of room service seems odd as there is a restaurant on site with early morning to late night hours.

Review 67:location, staff, room, etc...

Review 68:Desk staff not as informative as they could have been--at least the person who checked us in. Others may have been better. Room was in a building separate from other six floors and we weren't told that. No real info about amenities at the hotel.

Review 69:Restaurant/bar staff very nice and had great suggestions about what to do and see and info about the area. Loved being able to walk to dinner and sites.

Review 70:No complaints

Review 71:It was a lovely hotel and the proximity to everything in Gettysburg was wonderful. We could walk to many destinations and others were a short car ride away.

Review 72:On the first night, the elevator malfunctioned and we had to walk upfive flights of stairs a couple of times after a long 13 hour drive fromNew Hampshire to Pennsylvania. When we finally went to the room to relaxand work in our computers, the internet access wasn't working...andafter we let them know, it didn't start working until the next day.Our cable on our television didn't work the night we got in anddidn't work until the next day either. We decided we were tiredanyway and retired early.

Review 73:The town of Gettysburg is amazing and the hotel is in the middle ofeverything. Awesome shopping and restaurants right across the street oronly a block away. The staff who worked at the hotel were kind andpolite, and tried to be helpful to the best of their abilities. Therestaurant in the hotel had a terrific breakfast and tasty cocktails. The tour guide, Jerry was very knowledgeable and made our stay much morememorable. The view from the hotel room on the fifth floor wasexquisite, and the beds were comfortable in which to relax and sleep.

Review 74:Lots of noise but due to rennovations taking place around us. Thetattered awnings on the side of hotel took away from its otherwiselovely appearance

Review 75:Location was great. Newly remodeled room great but need silly littlefinishing touches like soap dish, ice bucket, frig

Review 76:Parking.

Review 92:Nicely renovated hotel

Review 93:Price was a bit high even for a cheap room for one night. Include breakfast for goodness sake!

Review 94:Location

Review 95:We would've liked a microwave in the room. That should be a staple in every room without having to pay extra.

Review 96:Everything was great.

Review 97:Staff not as friendly as I would expect.

Review 98:Proximity

Review 99:Location, People , Service, Value.

Review 103:Location, and convenience are excellent. Decor is lovely and I loved the Exec wing.

Review 104:Location in center of the town, decor was very pleasant and up to date, friendly staff, large room

Review 105:had breakfast next morning very over staffed

Review 106:very clean

Review 107:Fact that it is no longer a Best Western Hotel as advertised.Minimalist fitness room. Unadvertised on-going renovations

Review 108:Paying for parking. I think as a guest of the hotel, parking should be free since there is no parking lot for the hotel.
