Reviews for Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza
Review 1:Hard to find something, but would've liked another alternative to the very expensive water in the bar in our room. Maybe a vending area?
Review 2:The staff. The nice lady who served at breakfast was the best! Rooms are very nice especially bathrooms which were very roomy. I had my two daughters with me for a Christmas shopping trip and we really loved staying there.
Review 3:Parking garage does not accept cash for payment. Everything else was great!
Review 4:Overall hotel decor was contemporary and sophisticated. Hotel personnel were unfailingly helpful and friendly. Within easy walking distance of KC's Plaza. Dinner at the hotel's restaurant, Rosso, was excellent without being stuffy or overly formal, and the morning breakfast buffet was a surprising step up from the usual breakfast fare. Even the parking (charged separately) was spacious and well-lighted.
Review 5:There is nothing that I didn't like
Review 6:Great breakfast staff was incredibly nice and accommodating some of the best staff I've ever encountered the food and accommodations were excellent
Review 7:They should have more food for the breakfast than sweets because everything was sweet.
Review 8:Everything was great. The room, staff, they made me like kansas city even more. Definitely will visit again.
Review 9:Housekeeping needed improvement. Bathtub safety/design is actually dangerous.
Review 10:Fabulous customer service!!! Excellent restaurant. Loved the speed of the elevators.
Review 11:Not really a bad experience as stated with the writing prompt. Mattress wasn't up to the standard as expected. Average type of bedding.
Review 12:Incredible breakfast staff. Wonderful shower facility.
Review 13:They charged me for breakfast while its included in the price of the room. Apparently their included breakfast is just coffee and bread...
Review 14:Overall good hotel and location
Review 15:I know this is both too "picky", and just not very significant - but because just about everything else concerning the facility was so nice, I thought the plastic "shower pan" had a noticeably discordant cheap vibe.
Review 16:Incredibly helpful staff and beautiful hotel. I'm picky about cleanliness and it was perfect in my book. I would stay there again and definitely recommend Hotel Sorella.
Review 17:The room lighting could be brighter. Its hard to see what you look like when putting makeup on.
Review 18:The room and the bathroom was lovely. The tv remote worked well. Roomservixe was excellent. Front desk responsive and helpful to any needs. This will be the only hotel I'll stay in when traveling to KC.
Review 19:The hallway outside our door was in need of a vacuum.
Review 20:Simone was a great breakfast hostess! The beds were very comfortable and the room was quiet and nice. The lobby and common areas were posh and Euro-chic.
Review 21:The bar and pool area...Its important to separate the feel of a common bar away from the fancy hotel...The TV was placed in a bad spot causing a glare...so you cant watch TV...The floor in-front of the bar is confusing, maybe put a few more bar tables in fill the void.... this should be a full bar all the time... being out of a specific draft beer or not having a type of tequila was not the service I expect from an upscale hotel. a set uniform for the staff at the bar would be more appealing...different color shirts and confusing skirts is not a characteristic of a 4 or 5 star bar... at least have the same colors for all employees... it makes it easier for a customer to find you if your needed...the hotel was great.... the little things matter....Next time i am in kansas city i am very unlikely to chose that hotel again...
Review 22:The Bed was Great, and the staff was awesome!
Review 23:I was told I got a "great online deal" and still paid $300 for one nights stay with a view of an office building. And valet parking was an additional $18 a night, which is quite the charge.
Review 24:Location, bed, breakfast
Review 25:Room was dirty. Bathroom mirror dirty, used towel on counter, shower had past occupants shampoo and body wash still in it and bedroom floor was filthy. Definitely had not been vacuumed since who knows when???
Review 26:Staff
Review 27:Really the only thing I did not like was that the furnishings in the room were not comfortable. Obviously they were selected more for aesthetics than for guest comfort.
Review 28:Breakfast was very good, shuttle service very much appreciated and the young men driving them were very polite and well informed about the city.
Review 29:I wouldn't say it was "bad" necessarily, but the bed and pillows were very soft and I was a little sore.
Review 30:The employees were all very responsive and friendly. The room was beautiful and modern.
Review 31:All staff went out of their way to see to your needs. They were courteous and extra helpful. Loved the free shuttle service! We were picked up after shopping and had lots of packages and wanted to go to another area to shop. Not only did Sam our shuttle driver take our packages back to the hotel, he even had them taken to our room!
Review 32:This stay one of the vertical lights that frame the large mirror in the bathroom was burned out and the toilet didn't flush well. I had to flush it several times and it still didn't completely flush.
Review 33:I like the design of the rooms and bathrooms. I like how private they are and the hallways as well. Most if the time I don't see or hear anyone else.
Review 34:From the moment we walked inside, we were treated with the most impeccable service! Shoutout to Marcus too! He went above and beyond to make our stay perfect.
Review 35:It was difficult to find the entrance and where to park. It was $18 for valet service to park the can.
Review 36:Decor of the hotel itself and the room. I was able to get an excellent price on our room which was, I believe, a promotional price for either the hotel or Booking.com.
Review 37:Housekeeping missed us on a busy day. They did come when we called in late afternoon.
Review 38:Shuttle service European breakfast Comfort of room Restaurant/Happy Hour Staff
Review 39:The hotel rooms weren't that great for the money we spent to stay. Probably won't stay there again
Review 40:The staff at the breakfast was awesome and so friendly....best thing about stay.
Review 41:Decor of hotel was very nice. Excellent staff!! Loved and utilized the 24 hr shuttle service! It's very hard to find reasonable and convenient parking on the Plaza and the downtown area.
Review 42:NA
Review 43:Size of room Style / design of room Staff: efficiency, proactive, and not just friendly, but thoughtful Service oriented Selections for breakfast Sheets (bedding)!
Review 44:I was told by the parking attendant that parking was complimentary but valet parking was added to my bill. Management should clarify this with staff or refund the charge. I would like an explanation.
Review 45:Wonderful accommodations and service. Reminded us of hotels we have stayed at in Europe Excellent bar for a night cap and continental breakfast.
Review 46:No movies available. We ordered room service and it was delivered incorrect. Although the help corrected the order it was not edible and cost $55. Our room was faced the front entrance and was loud.
Review 47:One of the drawbacks was the lack of breakfast served in the restaurant. You can order from room service, which we did Christmas day. It is very expensive and was not very good. The hotel does serve a continental breakfast int he lobby are, which was excellent, but the seating is limited and not set up for comfortable eating. As usual, the bathroom was lacking in shelving for toiletries, as was the shower for shampoo, conditioner, etc.. Most hotels neglect to address the need for this in the bath,so nothing new there.
Review 48:The hotel location was ideal for walking to the shops and restaurants on the Plaza. The neighborhood was charming and provided an enjoyable walking experience. The hotel staff were welcoming and eager to see to our needs. The room was clean, the bed comfortable.
Review 49:Checked in Christmas Day Hotel wasn't that busy but got non view room The plaza view is world famous at Christmas No cereal at breakfast which my wife likes Mostly cold cuts and rolls
Review 50:shower controls difficult to use lighting in bathroom poor
Review 51:clean room excellent front desk staff excellent free breakfast and staff very quiet ease of valet parking
Review 52:Rooms are pretty and clean but horribly designed. Dimmest lighting of any hotel I've been in, and floors and rugs are black and dark brown. Cannot see a thing. Bath/shower is impossible, dangerous; a lawsuit waiting to happen. Beds have dark frame that juts way out; my wife and I have multiple bruises and shin gouges from running into it. Fire the interior decorator. This is a disgrace.
Review 53:The staff is helpful and very pleasant. The restaurant upstairs is excellent. Breakfast is good. Hotel looks nice. Like free wi-fi.
Review 54:Give people the option of paying for parking when booking the room.
Review 55:I was shocked that I had to pay for parking. This is unusual for the Kansas City Area. I would expect this for larger cities. I expressed my opinion with the front desk and they gave me parking for free. I also received 2 free drink vouchers. The only complaint I have is that the valet parking folks were drinking crazy. Just glad it was not my vehicle.
Review 56:Front desk wasn't helpful. Had to pay for parking. No info in room about the facility or nearby area. Gym was too small with too little equipment.
Review 57:Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Breakfast was good. Room Service was was good. Bar on the 7th floor was nice with a great bar menu.
Review 58:Nothing was bad per say. Rooms were a bit smaller than expected (when paying for above standard room). Staff was friendly, some were excellent and some okay. Overall was favorable experience.
Review 59:Great design, very clean! Beds were extremely comfortable.
Review 60:The air conditioning unit in our room was placed directly above the thermostat so it was impossible to get an even temperature in the room. And the fan blew directly down onto the bed closest, not into the room. It was the strongest, loudest, coldest fan we've ever experienced, but there was no way to move the direction and the only option for the fan was on or auto. No off. Without the air conditioner the room was extremely hot.
Review 61:Your entire staff was amazing, the most helpful, nicest I've ever encountered. Keep up the wonderful work.
Review 62:Continental breakfast is a perk, but very limited choices, and few seats available. I wish that Rosso served a hot breakfast upstairs.
Review 63:Location was ideal. You can walk to the Plaza, and a short drive to downtown, Crown Plaza.
Review 64:Hotel Sorella has the look and feel of a very expensive hotel but for a much better price, very comparable in pricing to surrounding hotels. It had the perfect location for a girls weekend trip. It was so convenient for shopping and dining. The free car service within a 5 mile radius was an added bonus, but we ended up not using it because of the beautiful weather. Every staff member was welcoming and helpful! I've stayed at many hotels on the plaza, and hotel Sorella is by far my favorite. We'll definitely be back.
Review 65:Bathroom toilet and sink malfunctioned requiring us to relocate to another room which was acceptable but not as likeable as the original in terms of layout.
Review 66:Bed, Location, Shuttle Service, Staff Attentiveness & Courtesiness
Review 67:My husband and I went here for a short honeymoon. The staff looked at us and treated us like we weren't good enough to be there. I understand we are younger than most people there but I didn't expect to be treated so poorly.
Review 68:Very clean and comfortable.
Review 69:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The ladies in the breakfast room were wonderful!!! The rooftop pool with a bartender that came out and attended to our needs was great. Very classy hotel.
Review 70:There was a slight smell in the lobby on our second day there. Not sure if it was from the wedding reception in the ballroom or someone sprayed some really bad cologne. It was gone by morning.
Review 71:Comfortable beds Amazing shower Within walking distance of Country Club plaza Great Bar Staff was polite, knowlegable, and friendly Valet parking worth the cost
Review 72:There was a strange smell in some parts of the hotel and lobby, especially when entering from the self-park garage. The elevator was very stinky (not a good first impression) and the hallway leading from the elevator to the lobby was also stinky. It smelled as if someone had sprayed the old-school gold can of Lysol everywhere. Lobby furniture is hilarious. It looks like huge adult diapers. I feel like they tried too hard to be hip and wound up being comical. No dressers in the rooms. Weird. Loud a/c.
Review 73:The staff was very friendly (except for the staff working the breakfast room...ouch!) The room was very clean. The bathroom was a nice surprise -- a huge shower and also very clean. Our 2nd floor room overlooked a residential street...odd, to say the least...hello neighbor!
Review 74:You are pay for high end accommodations and get something slightly better than average. The pool is very small and definitely not kid friendly. I watched the manager rip a staff member twice in front of guests. That should never NEVER happen!
Review 75:The rooms were small but comfortable. The breakfast buffet had a nice selection. The location is excellent for walking to Country Club Plaza.
Review 76:The option to valet or garage park was a bit confusing. But in the end, we went with Valet & will do it again in the future.
Review 77:Infinity rooftop pool with adjacent room with warm towels was a wonderful touch. The server at the bar came out to inquire if we'd like anything from the bar, that was awesome. It's just an overall classy hotel. Restaurant was 5-star in my book, from service, ambience, & quality of dishes. Loved the free European breakfast with bagels, lox, made to order cappuccino, etc...staff here welcome us and our 3-year-old as if we were family. Will definitely return in the future!
Review 78:Didn't honor price quoted cost me for one night $315.00 plus $15 for parking in there own hotel. I was quoted $220. We debated on leaving the hotel but of course they already had our reservations, and of course they'd honor that part. There mini bar is crazy expensive up to $10 for a water crazy. They tried to charge me for everything in there because of a computer error, so I'm guessing they do that and charge you and people don't look at there tickets. Breakfast was free but was muffins and raw fish, all we wanted was bacon or eggs or something. Of course they could of made it for me for $20.00. Wouldn't recommend going back or going there unless you like being looked down on without lots of money.
Review 79:The bar was amazing good staffed and had most everything you could of ever wanted we spent a few hours there enjoying the sweet bar and the amazing view.
Review 80:No to go cups for my morning coffee and no perceived interest in getting that corrected although the deficiency had been previously surfaced by others. Oh. And hour gym equipment could improve
Review 81:Room and rooftop ambience and location
Review 82:Parking was awkward -- got several different stories about the charges, although in the end, it was reasonable.
Review 83:Very classy hotel with great service and food.
Review 84:Service in the bar was horrible on 7/3. The barmaids were overwhelmed and management just stood around and watched them struggle. Hint to management, no job is beneath you.
Review 85:Loved the huge walk in shower and sliding bathroom door.
Review 86:- Requested a rollaway bed when booking, didn't get the rollaway until after 9pm - after 2 phone calls and a visit to the front desk. - Had to valet the cars and pay $18 per night per car
Review 87:They cleaning people never come to my room to make up my bed and to replace the bathroom towels. I had to ask for clean towels.
Review 88:This hotel is a very classic hotel. Room was so nice. Whenever I visit Kansas City again. This were I will be staying.
Review 89:Perhaps more outdoor seating on the courtyard plaza adjacent to where breakfast is served.
Review 90:-attractive, clean, and modern accommodations -attentive, friendly staff -great amenities including free European-style breakfast and car service within a 5-mile radius of the hotel
Review 91:Shuttle service and no dresser space in room.
Review 92:Manager Tia was extremely helpful with issues and very friendly. Definitely a keeper. She would factor in our decision for a return trip.
Review 93:I loved everything about the experience.
Review 94:Beautiful hotel. Very luxurious. Professional staff. Excited to tell my friends about it.
Review 95:No view of the plaza lights
Review 96:Staff was very friendly and they upgraded us to the PRESIDENTIAL SUITE for our 10 year anniversary!
Review 97:The breakfast was very disappointing.
Review 98:Beautiful hotel. Location is excellent. It's within a 5 minute walk of the best shopping in KC.
Review 99:The Staff was AMAZING!
Review 100:Big rooms, trendy decor, helpful stagf
Review 101:No parking lot so I had to pay to park. But valet was nice
Review 102:Was my 21st birthday and the manager gave me a 30$ voucher for drinks at the bar
Review 103:The valet uniforms could have looked more professional.
Review 104:Modern decor, location
Review 105:Parking garage across the alley
Review 106:The atmoshere and polite staff
Review 107:Free breakfast was very limited. I thought it was odd they offered sandwich meat and cheese.
Review 108:Staff was so welcoming, room was spacious and gorgeous.
Review 109:It' is a little pricey. But we don't splurge like this very often.
Review 110:We loved everything.
Review 111:Beautiful boutique hotel. Lovely rooftop patio, breakfast patio and very pleasant and helpful staff.
Review 112:Breakfast just so-so
Review 113:beautiful hotel and very friendly staff
Review 114:Breakfast was disappointing, no hot (or cold) options, fruit looked old, otherwise a lot of carbs, meat and cheese.
Review 115:Need hot water... The shower was just lukewarm
Review 116:Service with a smile
Review 117:Wifi was iffy...but free.
Review 118:Stylish. Close to country club plaza shops and dining but not in the midst of the crowds. Comfortable bed. Quick valet.
Review 119:Good breakfast but crowded. The ladies that made the coffee were great. Great bar and pool area on roof and great location
Review 120:nothing
Review 121:Good location. Comfortable, modern and clean.

Review 125:Breakfast and the great staff that works there It is a great way to start the day
Review 126:Location!! Walking distance to country club La Plaza. Spacious and nice rooms! On site parking. It was breakfast included!
Review 127:the beds have a floor level wooden surround that can often catch you leg when walking round the room
Review 128:the 7th floor bar was pretty cool
Review 129:All of the taxes added on to the bill!
Review 130:They could not find the reservation and blamed us - even after showing e-mail confirmmation.
Review 131:Nice facility
