Reviews for Hotel La Tonnellerie
Review 1:The staff were really friendly and welcoming despite the fact that we arrived at 10.30p.m. Nothing was too much trouble and the atmosphere down in the bar/restaurant was wonderful and we were offered nibbles with our wine. Will definetly stay here again.
Review 2:Room we had was a bit small with very little room for our bags.
Review 3:The staff was very courteous and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and the kitchen staff even provided us with 2 delicious salads the night we arrived after the kitchen had formally closed. Great central location in town with convenient free parking.
Review 4:As a flipside of the historic character of the hotel, some modern luxuries are missing: no card readers but keys to open the room's door, a narrow staircase, somewhat thin insulation (for sound, heat was okay).
Review 5:The location of the hotel is almost perfect, perhaps 20 meters from the funicular to the thermes and a short walk from the city center. The downstairs restaurant is an excellent place to dine. The hotel is also historic building, with lots of charm.
Review 6:- Walls are very thin, you could hear the people in the restaurant at night - At night there was a lot of noise, someone running up and down the stairs, chairs being dragged everywhere... very annoying !
Review 7:- Nice, clean room, beautiful house - Bathroom not very modern, but clean, so not a problem - Very very nice breakfast - Perfect location, right next to the elevator to the spa
Review 8:Room is a bit on the small side (but still good value for money)
Review 9:Centre of Spa, but still a quite corner (no traffic sounds in the early morning). Good, clean shower
Review 10:Restaurant was closed without informing us before hand. No one was there to met us when we arrived at 5p.m. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room.
Review 11:Central location View of the park Crazy golf Good choice of eating and drinking places
Review 12:Cover on bed needed replacing, a bit old. Access to hotel was via a rear entrance, which was near the kitchen, horrible sewer smells. Shower door handles on the outside so when in the shower you couldn't shut the doors.
Review 13:Breakfast was good
Review 14:Damp smell coming up from the cellar - I guess it may have been due to alot of recent rain
Review 15:Staff were really excellent and helpful. evening meal was excellent and good value
Review 16:Access to the hotel car park is controlled by a barrier that requires a code to exit. I arrived in the evening and told the staff I would be up early the next day. They did not mention the need for a code. The next morning I could not get out of the car park as there were no staff in the hotel and no one answered the hotel telephone number. This was a big problem. The manager was very apologetic the next evening, but I have never stayed in a hotel that did not have any staff on duty or any means of contacting them. What would happen in an emergency?
Review 17:The electronic barrier would not respond to my motorcycle so I had to ride through the public park to access the car park
Review 18:Staff were friendly and efficient, location was excellent. food was lovely and the room was large and clean and comfortable. Lovely and quant hotel.
Review 19:This hotel was a great location, we were on a 5 day motorbike trip and this was our last stop for 2 nights as we went to Spa. This was close by. Hotel was clean and modern, breakfast was great. no secure parking for the bike but was able to chain it up overnight and it was safe.
Review 20:No warm water in shower, because owner didn't but boiler on at early hour
Review 21:Location beautiful. Diner very good!
Review 22:Nothing good for price
Review 23:Ambience, location and food
Review 24:A bit tired, stairs and hallway needed decorating
Review 25:Restaurant was brilliant
Review 26:Fabulous location and beautiful restaurant
Review 27:Location of this hotel is perfect for visiting the race circuit 15 minutes drive through lovely countryside.
Review 28:romantic décor, clean and perfectly located
Review 29:No bad experience.
Review 30:The hotel, the owners, the style of décor and the rooms. Breakfast was of a limited choice but OK.
Review 31:Right at the bottom entrance of the funicular. Quiet place, very comfortable room.
Review 32:Truly charming with great food.
Review 33:The Hotel is run by young people, in a relaxed, very friendly and efficient way. It is situated right in an historic Park, with fountains, mature trees, historic statues, and a challenging obstacle golf course : it is also very central, and right next to the funicular which takes you up to the famous Spa baths. The restaurant is spectacular , with sun terrace etc. The parking was free and adjacent, overlooked by an historic "ice keller" - an underground ice house, where ice from the winter was stored, so that in the Summer, sorbets etc could be cooled. Spa itself is a lovely old town, and the area has plenty to offer - eg the "Cascade" at Plopsa Coo - an ideal adventure park for families, with a stunning waterfall, and abundant eating choices. There is also the famous race track at Spa Francorchamps, although be careful not to do what we did, - by mistake we drove into the Race Paddock and were chased out by an irate official ! (there was a 500 cc motorcycle race on at the time) James Totnes
Review 34:Stairs, so many stairs, but this is normal for most European hotels.
Review 35:Location and decor. The rooms were clean and well layed out. A lovely spot in Belgium.
Review 36:Staff pretty rude even by Belgian standards. When we arrived the young lad at reception looked us up and down, motioned for us to wait at the counter and proceeded to lay a couple more tables at the restaurant before bothering to check us in. Not a big deal but hardly very welcoming. Smiles were hard to come by throughout the weekend. It seems like their "main" business is running a restaurant and renting out their (pricey) rooms is more of an afterthought.
Review 37:Very good location in the centre of Spa Beautiful old building Room was nice (but it should be at that price) Good breakfast Free parking
Review 38:Check-in was advertised as 1330hrs; we arrived after this and the hotel was completely closed; came back later and it was still closed; tried to phone the hotel but the advertised number was discontinued. Eventually via a local office found a new number and phoned; at about 1500hrs the manager turned up to let us it. Our room was small and 'classic' but hardly 'comfort'. Access to rooms was at the back of the hotel via a very steep series of steps. Felt that this hotel was overpriced even for over-rated Spa.
Review 39:Location and free parking. Excellent breakfast and probably a good restaurant (but closed on Wednesday).
Review 40:Nothing at all to dislike
Review 41:Really great position in centre of Spa, free safe car parking on site, fabulous restaurant and bar. Extremely good value. Looking forward to our return next year!
Review 42:The room was very small; the breakfast was very simple.
Review 43:Staff were exceptionally nice and the hotel and surroundings were extremely quiet; very restful.
Review 44:I had to cancel the 1st night of our stay due to a vehicle breakdown but still had to pay for all 4 nights. I cancelled before lunch but this didn't matter (!?).
Review 45:Relaxed, great food, tucked away.
Review 46:rooms a bit small for more than 1 night stay,
Review 47:the location is super, on sundaymorning there was a fleamarket in front of the hotel, our 2 dogs were welcome too, good breakfast, very nice staff, beautiful decorated rooms...
Review 48:good location.
Review 49:An excellent hotel in the centre of Spa. Ideal for the circuit being only 5 minutes away. We would certainly use this hotel again.
Review 50:Nothing
Review 51:Everything, the hotel also has a fine (yet somewhat expensive) restaurant.
Review 52:uncomfortable beds no shower door walk through restaurant to get to rooms
Review 53:Staff location parking
Review 54:Verry nice hotel in the center of Spa. Perfect location in a park. Verry friendly staff ....
Review 55:Ecxellent location, quiet, very comfortable.
Review 56:In the centre of spa with space for the car, close to restaurants ..
