Reviews for Hotel Ribamar

Review 1:remote for tv did not work and desk clerk did not know which was the right one. Too little lighting in the hall.

Review 2:location, comfortable bed, traditional furniture.

Review 3:If you like atmospheric old buildings this is for you. Ideally situated on the quiet end of the beach front our room was both romantic and comfortable. The staff were discreet, friendly and helpful.

Review 4:Second visit as good as the first. We love the location, the beautiful wood furnishings, the tiles, the attic room with sea view. Friendly;y helpful staff and the best location.

Review 5:Breakfast selections were meager, food was bland, and coffee was awful despite the fact that this hotel had a restaurant (which we didn't visit because of the breakfast experience). Room was generally very dreary and dark.

Review 6:Location was right on the beach, within earshot of the pounding surf.

Review 7:Nothing really. It was handy to everything and I had a Seaview up the alley for 35 euros. Great value here.loved the traditional restaurant with lovely food and great service.

Review 8:This is a charming g Portuguese style traditional hotel with plenty of character. Seems to be run by a Portuguese family who are there to help when needed and very welcoming abd warm.

Review 9:Felt a little bit rundown. I also just didn't really like Nazare.

Review 10:Very central location, right by the beach, with restaurants and all the action right at your fingertips.

Review 11:No effort made whatsoever with our room, blind was broken, TV didn't work. Careless.

Review 12:Location is amazing, right on the beach, along the lively seafront promenade. Old school small hotel.

Review 13:Beyond the poor state of the room / accomodation, what I disliked most is the fact I could not exit the building - nor find anybody - when I wanted to go for my early morning walk at 05:30-ish.

Review 14:Quite simple breakfast and amenities..

Review 15:Location just in front of the beach and near the main square and the funicular up to Sitio, the view from the room, kindness of the staff, the convenience of having dinner at the restaurant in the ground floor..

Review 16:We were concerned that the room keys were kept on a board which was not attended by staff members. They were easily accessible to anyone. We kept our key with us.

Review 17:Location was great.

Review 18:The mattress was very firm, which is common, but a bit uncomfortable for women.

Review 19:I loved watching and hearing the sea from my bed- heaven! Beautiful tiles in the bathroom and antique furniture in this small, well run old hotel. Had dinner in their restaurant overlooking the beach, with good food and wines.

Review 20:The atmosphere in the hotel was fantastisch with the wooden floors and authentic details. The service was excellent and the personal attention of the waiters (among them Jose Antonio) was very nice.

Review 21:Difficult parking. The hotel offers secure parking for 10€ per day, but it's near the post office (see map), and the tiny individual garages are difficult to access.

Review 22:Excellent location right on the beach. Great value for the cost. Beautiful view from tiny balcony.

Review 23:Bed could have been more comfy!

Review 24:Beautiful original wood and tiles everywhere Friendly staff View from room straight out to beach Quaint attic room Loads of hot water No ikea anywhere

Review 25:The hotel is right on the seafront and our room had a great view. The decor was quaint and traditional . Everything was very clean and we enjoyed our short stay here especially as the weather was so good. The breakfast was very basic but fresh. I would stay here again.

Review 26:Room was old but clean and smelled musty. Beds were very hard.

Review 27:Room overlooked the beach and you could hear the ocean all night. This time of year it was quiet.

Review 28:Many have mentioned the breakfast. Unfortunately, I must agree - it was poor. But the town is filled with small cafés where one can enjoy fresh pastries and coffee!

Review 29:We stayed in room 33 that had a cute ocean view. It had a clean spacious bathroom with bath. I loved the location - literally on the beach with all the restaurants and the funicular really close. It was easy to access from the bus station - it took us about 10-15 minutes on foot.

Review 30:Breakfast was rather poor. There was no wi-fi the last couple of days.

Review 31:Location superb, just across the street to the beach and surrounded by shops, restaurants and cafés. Very clean, towels and bedclothes changed every day. Good value for the money.

Review 32:No a/c and finding a parking spot (15 minutes walk, from hotel) took about 30 minutes of going around and around. Breakfast was weak...bread, jam, butter and some fruit.

Review 33:Location right on the main strip and by the beach.

Review 34:Room is little. But that's it!

Review 35:Room was cosy, with nice designed. Bathroom with azulejos felt special. It's basically at the sea. Staff are busy so they don't have much time, but it's no bother. Very good value. Will come again.

Review 36:Nothing

Review 37:This lovely traditional Portuguesefamily owned hotel is beautifully maintained and immaculate. It has all the required modern necessities in a traditional setting. Our view overlooking the ocean was unbeatable. The restaurant on the street level is first class with excellent service and thoughtfully prepared dishes. We chose to eat there both nights. The servings are gigantic.

Review 38:The hotel is traditional which like and the restaurant is very good

Review 39:The area

Review 40:Too small bath for a big person.

Review 41:Everything was great. The best location.

Review 42:Near everything, sweet place

Review 43:Rooms were bare and depressing.

Review 44:Location and value were excellent.

Review 45:Stairs to third floor. Old tube TV

Review 46:Not so clean toilet. Kind of old furniture

Review 47:Situated just front the ocean

Review 48:The ceiling of the room was very low. We almost could not stand up straight.

Review 49:Would be difficult for older folks going up stairs with suitcases

Review 50:no lift to rooms... very noisy outside in the evening & first thing in the morning.. nobody asked us if everything was ok .....

Review 51:the view.....

Review 52:It was a little bit noisy because the next place was under construction.

Review 53:Good location to go to sea. This hotel is beside the beach.

Review 54:All good

Review 55:View of ocean across the street from ocean

Review 56:Tv is old

Review 57:Location

Review 58:Walking up three flights of steep wooden stairs

Review 59:Location of the hotel, you just walk every where.

Review 60:smell of old house

Review 61:waves in the ocean

Review 62:Some construction noise next door during the day.

Review 63:Special spring rate is almost too good to believe.

Review 64:Had expected a bigger window in the room. Parking one kilometre away (even out of season)

Review 65:The view over the beach and rocks.

Review 66:No parking.

Review 67:Great location, wonderful staff and great food, all round great stay.

Review 68:Breakfast was quite lite, and would have appreciated some sort of protein.

Review 69:Amazing location and lovely people.

Review 70:Room was quite small Breakfast poor

Review 71:View of the beach and rocks

Review 72:Location, Location! Helpful staff! Charming, worn and "enjoyed by many" feel to it. Comes with good price too.

Review 73:Breakfast was pure "continental"! No ham nor cheese. My bed had a serious sway.

Review 74:Location, location location and price!

Review 75:Excellent location and helpful parking reservation in difficult parking circumstances.

Review 76:Small bed

Review 77:Nice interior Good location Fast check in

Review 78:Location was great, right on the beach. It was noisy but this is to be expected with a central location. Breakfast was pretty basic.

Review 79:really loud at night, and no where outside to sit and hang out. no terrace, no porch, no anything

Review 80:good location xc st from beach

Review 81:WiFi is sometimes not connected.

Review 82:No AC. No fans (but we did'nt ask for any).

Review 83:Nice location. Old place. Atmosphere. Tradision. Very friendly staff.

Review 84:All!

Review 85:Location is superb, literally on the beach.

Review 86:The wifi was a disappointment as it constantly dropped out. Some of the staff could do with some customer skills

Review 87:The hotels position and the restaurant. The traditional dishes were excellent.

Review 88:No lifts. So not suitable for older people or carrying suitcases up steep stairs. The room was cramped. Breakfast was just bread & butter & coffee from a machine. There is no free parking.

Review 89:Proximity to the ocean.

Review 90:I didn't think there was anything to dislike.

Review 91:Fabulous location, on the beach, with a great breakfast. Best coffee in Portugal, all at an unbeatable price.

Review 92:A little hard to reach from the bus station, but that's not a big deal.

Review 93:Our room - double with direct sea view - was beautiful inside and out; lovely wooden interior, comfortable bed, and great views over the beach.

Review 94:Very convenient to beach & restaurants/taverns. Safe, private parking 4 blocks away at 10 euros. Most staff were accommodating & Friendly. Food and ambiance in their restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Bed was too small. Lots of people noise throughout the night. Still, a good place to stay for a night or two. Atlantic is cold but beach is nice.

Review 95:The breakfast consisted only of bread with jam and butter.

Review 96:Great character. Decent size room (by European standards). Great view ofthe beach. Perfect location at the center of town.

Review 97:Old and not comfortable bed at all. Very poor breakfast. Rooms decorated in a very old fashioned way (most probably hotel was never redecorated). Moreover very often nobody from the staff was watching the reception desk and the keyes of all the rooms were just hunging on the wall visible to everybody... anybody from the street could just enter to the hotel take the key of our room and nobody would even notice...

Review 98:Location just next to the beach

Review 99:stairs and no elevator.

Review 100:The staff, and the room was nice. They helped us park in their parking lot down the street, which was really kind, because there was no parking right in front of the hotel.

Review 101:When you come to Nazare by car, in high season, it can be very difficult to find a place to park one. Hotel has its own garrages, but it's additional cost. Breakfast is more than modest.

Review 102:The biggest advantage of this hotel is its location - it fronts to the ocean coast and to get to the Nazare beach you only have to cross the street. At the early beggining of the season, when Nazare is still rather quiet resort village, you can find this hotel as a good place to have a rest. But I can not say how it looks at the high-season time. The quality of the hotel rooms and services suits its low prices. Good place to have a short break in longer trip. Staying longer in Nazare in this hotel you have to be kind of resourceful person, looking for activities on your own and treating the hotel only as a place to sleep.

Review 103:Facility is old. Bed was too soft. Shower space was too small.

Review 104:Reasonable room rate. Room was clean. Staff was kind. Location was perfect to enjoy the beach play.

Review 105:The "continental" breakfast was disappointing, just a bread roll with butter and jam and was all self service. Coffee from machine was terrible. Orange juice was more of an orange flavored drink.

Review 106:Location was excellent, easy to get to from bus station by walking. We had a lovely view of the beach because we had a corner room with a balcony. It certainly has old time charm but is very outdated, hence the budget-friendly category.

Review 107:The bathroom was very old style but ok.Staff was not very helpfulespecially regarding the car park issue.Room was very small, not good ifyou travel with big luggage.

Review 108:Excellent value for money.Stayed 1 night of 22€ with ensuitebathroom.Little window overlooking the beach, very nice.Convenientposition, you can park near the Tribunal and walk down.Quiet in May, notsure waht it will be like during the summer.

Review 109:They didn't have our reservation on file, but once I produced theBooking.com confirmation, they honored it with no problems.

Review 110:Great value for money. Just across the street from the beach.

Review 111:Rooms smelled very musty. Four flights of stairs and no elevator. Staff was very abrupt and pretty much just wanted payment (before we saw the rooms). After they received payment, we were pretty much non existent to them.

Review 112:Beautiful view from the room and at a very low cost. Central location.

Review 113:I made the mistake of not reading the booking correctly on the internetso I booked a room with sea views lateral! With "lateral"being the key word here. You may be smarter than me but I didn'trealise that a lateral sea view room means not actually a sea view roomat all but infact a room which faces the street beside and if you stickyour head out the window and look to the side then you can see the sea.Now I realise!

Review 114:The hotel is in a great location in Nazare right on the beach.(Literally a 30 second walk to wet your feet) and breakfast is includedso for the price it's really good.

Review 115:Terrible breakfast - instant coffee and a bun! They should just skip itentirely so there is no expectation. At 35 euro's you do notanticipate much but sometimes bad food is worse than no food.

Review 116:The location says it all! Take the room overlooking the ocean with 3windows. The view makes the humble, quaint hotel become something reallyspecial. The city is fabulous for walking in and the sunset is best seenfrom an outdoor restaurant overlooking the Nazare harbour.

Review 117:Would have been nice to have had a bit more than rolls jam butter and espresso or tea for breakfast. But we still would stay at the Ribamar without hesitation.

Review 118:We loved it, so charming and gracious staff. We arrived after terrible storm and still the Ribamar all the charm you could want. The real shutters clos at night and the view of the ocean was all I'd hoped it would be. The espresso was plentiful and good in the morning.

Review 119:Value for money, location

Review 120:simple breakfast

Review 121:Nice place on the beach, pleasant people. nice price (outside the summer season)

Review 122:Location location location. A room with a window overlooking the beach, a block away. Loved it

Review 123:Lovely vintage hotel right on the beach! Picturesque historic beach city. Excellent seafood in the hotel restaurant.

Review 124:The restaurant downstairs is quite expensive

Review 125:Ocean is very close and from some rooms there is a seaside view from windows.

Review 126:Great location, great room, good restaurant an friendly staff. Bathroom a little cramped, fully functional. Amazing for the price.
