Reviews for Blue Sky Motel
Review 1:A little over priced. I would like to see the price come down about $30. But I'm not complaining. I still love the place.
Review 2:When you see how clean your room is, you will feel really happy you chose this place. We were very comfortable in both our stays.
Review 3:Motel was clean and comfortable. If not in the Gettysburg area, theprice would have been lower. In general, based on the age and location, price should have been $10-$15/night lower. The bathroom was very tight and could be updated.
Review 4:We travel with our dogs (were attending a field trial 20 miles north ofthe motel) and we like the motel door opening directly on the parkinglot. The chickens and ducks were an added bonus. The linens and towelswere soft and clean.
Review 5:Amenities are older than me. I am sixty five. Knotty pine went out along time ago. Wifi wasn't worked, it had to be me. I skipped a shower to be on the safe side.
Review 6:The goats and chickens. The goats were three, the chicken one, they were well cared for and looked pretty happy.
Review 7:Very dated, worn down room. Curtains did not provide much privacy. Had to plug in the TV, the cord was out of the TV end of the hookup. Bathroom was unventilated, dingy, bathtub not clean, hot water ran out half way through shower. At $30/night I would understand, but not at $90/night. I blame Booking.com for misleading us on this motel.
Review 8:Not far from Gettysburg.
Review 9:Outdated by about 50 years. Small bath, musty smell, windows did not operate. Bath mold, and who knows what else.
Review 10:Comfortable bed. Quiet (at least when we were there). AC Worked. TV and light fixtures worked. Felt secure.
Review 11:Very small room with a dark unwelcoming feel. Not very clean, bathroom sink had shavings from last occupant. Spartan bed without even headboard.
Review 12:Location was close to attractions and convenient.
Review 13:Need a curtain darker to keep out the outdoor night lighting Needs a major overhaul someday And a good housecleaning and scrubbing
Review 14:I love the country quiet setting
Review 15:It's a little farther from town than i wish it were, but this is not altogether a bad thing.
Review 16:I had a different room this time, with a back porch with chairs and a rustic view - very nice!
Review 17:Bathroom was extremely dirty, there even was blood in it. There was a fly when we got into the room. Dead bugs in a lot of lights. nowhere near town, about 5 miles away.
Review 18:The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 19:The bathroom could do with a little update.
Review 20:The people were very friendly, ready to offer advice or directions. They are making thw motel into a more family oriented establishment. The room was complete with a microwave & fridge.
Review 21:old fashion style strip hotel, quaint and small but comfortable. WiFi, refrigerator and microwave better than big chains. Office is part of the house. The people there were the nicest I have experienced in a long time. It was literally 8 minutes from everything in Gettysburg. I will be staying here on every trip
Review 22:Bathroom was in dire need of renovation -- toilet did not flush consistently; shower handle quite loose and difficult to adjust.
Review 23:Nice family runs the place. Room had ample space.
Review 24:Extremely old, tired run-down rural motel. Poor value for money. Look elsewhere before booking.
Review 25:Four miles from the Gettysburg Square. The visiting bikers (here for bikers week) were very friendly company and great to talk to. TV and WiFi good.
Review 26:It needs some updating but its functional for the money.
Review 27:This motel is at a nice location just outside of Gettysburg! It was a great place to stay for the money! We will return to stay at the Blue Sky Motel!
Review 28:could have used some newer appliances and some maintenance in bathroom, a few things did not work in the room and could have offered breakfast.
Review 29:clean and comfortable bed(pillows too small)
Review 30:Accepted our dog simple, but comfortable room large bathroom with good shower good solid mattress - no sag or lumps pleasant owners - gave good restaurant tip
Review 31:The room was very dark, tired and dated. Needs quite a bit of TLC to bring it out of the 60's.
Review 32:Beds were clean and comfortable. The owners were very helpful. OK for one night on the road.
Review 33:Everything looked as if it was neglected and was either worn out, broken or needed replacing. There was a stuffy smell in the room that made it feel dirty and not very nice to sit in.
Review 34:Location was quiet.
Review 35:Since my wife could not make it to the awards banquet I was to attend, my youngest adult daughter came in her place. Blue Sky upgraded us to a room with two beds at no additional charge.
Review 36:The motel!!Its a bulldozer job. Run down filthy and its goes on!! Never ever stay here!!! Looks like it hadn't been maintained for years!!Bathroom floor was black when wiped with towels. Bath towels werestained! What more do I need to say!!! Knock it down ASAP
Review 37:The views
Review 38:The room was small, bathroom smaller, shower hard to use if you are over 5'9 and not enough hot water. Days Inn a few miles away offered a lot more for the price. But still not bad.
Review 39:The location was easy to get to, the price was cheap enough. The staff was super friendly and courteous.
Review 40:The WiFi was terrible. I could not get any service and the cost for how far I had to travel off the highway was more than I thought it should be.
Review 41:It was a lot cleaner than I expected!!
Review 42:The room is old, and there are too many windows (do you really need onein the bathroom?), two of which only had sheers, instead of realdrapes(and there were spots on these). The towels were likewisestained(but all were clean). The tub and toilet seat could stand to bereplaced, as the former was grey with years of use, and the latter wascracked and peeling. The carpet was the indoor/outdoor type, andstained just outside the bathroom door. There is no alarm clock providedor wakeup service, nor is there a hair dryer or ironing board(which Ididn't need, but some might). I paid $55/night, whichconsidering what you normally get for your money, is a bit steep, in myopinion(and I got it at a discount).
Review 43:The motel is out of the city, but not too far that you can't getthere easily in 15 minutes, on average. The woman who checked me in thefirst night was friendly and helpful, going so far as to give me thenames of restaurants that deliver, suggestions, and directions. They doprovide you with a mini refrigerator and microwave, which is convenient,if you are looking to bring food and drink to consume during your stay.
Review 44:There are a HUGE number of dirty things about this motel. This motel had no concern for the cleanliness of their rooms. What was laughable was one of the residents who was staying uttered a rude, "Well you get what you pay for," as if my fiance and I were rich snobs who expected a Hilton. No, we did not expect a Hilton, but we didn't expect dead bugs to litter the floor underneath the bed, or spiders inside the drawers, on the curtains, and dirt all over the bathroom floors. Oh, not to mention the bug guts on top of the ceiling and walls.THE STAFF DID NOT CLEAN THE ROOMS. I even asked them in my booking. I requested, "The only thing we ask is that cleaning staff come through and do a deep clean of our room as my fiance is concerned about the cleanliness. It looked as though someone put an air freshener in there, changed the bed sheets and then said, "Well. My job is done." I HAD TO ASK FOR A VACCUM AND THEN DO THE VACCUMING MYSELF BECAUSE THE DESK ATTENDANT DIDNT EVEN OFFER TO CLEAN IT THEMSELF.I understand that if you don't expect much, you might not care about these things, but for 65$ total and only 20$ behind an actual Days Inn, or Super 8, I think these people should be ashamed of themselves. The class of people who stay here normally seem to be those who don't give a rat's you know what about cleanliness. That one woman who seemed to scoff at us asking for the room to be cleaned more is a great example. But for me and my fiance who come from a clean home, we WILL NOT EVER come back to this place. And if you care about the idea of your room having bugs and spiders and dust as well as dead skin from past residents and lord knows what else because no one deep cleans the rooms then the Blue Sky Motel is FOR YOU! Seriously though. How can one sleep knowing that bugs and stuff are potentially going to crawl all over them.
Review 45:I liked that the staff were willing to accommodate us after having a terrible and dirty first room. The attendant allowed us to move to a different room, even though it was still dirty too and needed a proper vacuum. I also liked the fact that the water pressure was fine and the reviews that complained of a lack of warm water were false. We had plenty of warm water.
Review 46:Cleanliness was so so, cat food on floor, stains on rug. Had to go to office for ice or bottled water. Vending machines just about empty and very old.
Review 47:New beds, refrigerator and microwave in room. Was very quiet. Proximity to Gettysburg and Biglerville, have friends there.
Review 48:The bathroom was old and beat up. There were a couple of dead insects that weren't swept up.
Review 49:Proximity to tourist sites. Quiet surroundings. Nice staff.
Review 50:Filthy carpet--many dog pee spots. Bathroom--filthy tub, very small space. Location to Gettysburg is greater than anticipated. Badly stained towels. Lack of maintenance and cleanliness means I'll never stay here again.
Review 51:Surprised by presence of microwave and refrigerator. TV and wi-fi war adequate. Knotty pine walls date this to 1950's or earlier. Bed was good enough. Owner gave me styrofoam cups so I could make tea in microwave.
Review 52:toilet a little slow flushing but if u did a double flush was fine
Review 53:The Location was peaceful 5 min drive to Gettysburg We liked the back deck nice place to unwind after a long day.
Review 54:It is very old and out of date. It is so old and out of date that it is uncomfortable and the bathroom is so old it we did not want to shower because we were afraid of picking up athletes foot or something. The room was so dark that even with all the lights on during the day we couldn't even see. The furnishings were so old and worn out as well as the towels it appeared dirty even though it wasn't.
Review 55:The Price and they allow pets
Review 56:Bathroom,bathroom bathroom!! needs a real overhaul! First of all the door to the bathroom is so warped it won't shut. DO THE BATHROOM in #11 at least over!!! I thought room smelled funny, she was fine! Air conditioner in room didn't really seem to cool perhaps set wrong. maybe add a room fan. Put the small fridge and the microwave on a table, bad back not convenient!!
Review 57:OKAY! Nice setting set back from road. had coffee in morning w/ powdered creamer-UGH! Room itself had knotty pine, nostalgic, haven't seen that in forever. Room quiet never heard any noise. We liked- but we go simple and frugal. Not a choice for upscale types. Loved Gettysburg
Review 58:Checkin ,staff person had no shirt on ,didn't seem interested. Motel 4miles from town Lighting in room very poor
Review 59:Bed was clean and reasonably comfortable ,there was adequate hot water
Review 60:No room for a chair or table.
Review 61:Blue Sky Motel on Rte. 34, Gettlysburg is a special discovery. Clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated, this family owned place also has a pool, swing, and view of lovely green country behind. We slept soundly. They even returned some items that I left behind. A gem.
Review 62:Don't stay here if you're expecting a modern facility with all the extras. Its an older motel but provides the basics and clean, comfortable room.
Review 63:Excellent rate, close to Gettysburg. Our stay was comfortable.
Review 64:The place was old and the bathrooms were very small. No breakfast available like many motels.
Review 65:The staff was very friendly and left the rooms unlocked for us with the keys inside. The price was very reasonable.
Review 66:The rooms were dirty and smelled of smoking (even though they were non-smoking rooms) and urine. The ceilings were water stained and falling in. The carpet had big stained areas on it. The furniture was old and beat up. The pool was closed and the back deck was peeling all over. We were showned 4 rooms and since we had a non-refundable reservations for two nights, we picked the best we could and toughed it out.
Review 67:The staff was helpful.
Review 68:no center plug in bathroom sink one room had very small bath tub need to clean cobwebs from ceiling and dust on baseboards
Review 69:quiet comfortable bed easy parking country setting
Review 70:The tv was a little small--like the kind I had just a few years back, but the cable service was excellent, as was the wi-fi.
Review 71:The value was great, the place is clean. It is quiet. The staff is cheerful. There is a nice pool and you are only a couple of miles from the battlefield.
Review 72:Staff was afraid of owner! No a/c!! When ask for help they brought me a dirty fan! Lady in office told me I needed to take it up with the owner about moving to room with a/c. The owner of mid eastern decent was very ignorant when I asked to be moved! I went from a 2nd room to a single and he wanted to change for a re cleaning of 1st room when nothing had been touched! Place very outdated dirty mold growing in soap dish in tub no water pressure in shower! Very poor for 100.00 a night. Should have been 25 bucks!!!
Review 73:Semi close to Gettysburg.
