Reviews for The Lodges at Gettysburg

Review 1:Make sure you get a cabin that doesn't attach to another one for a truly peaceful experience.

Review 2:Just a few miles out of town, nice and quiet! Situated on the top of a hill with a small lake and great views. Nice and Quiet.

Review 3:supposedly clean drinking glasses placed lip side down on bathroom vanity tv heard playing through wall entire night unaware would be "sharing" a lodge with connecting door with no sound insulation check-in clerk zero personality- no warm fuzzies or "welcome" for that matter would have been helpful to have a chair in the room- no where to sit other than on the bed

Review 4:beautiful location with somewhat unique accommodations excellent linens nice to have microwave and frig in room

Review 5:They do not allow pets. We stayed 4 days and was unable to get maid service or towels until we got them ourselves.Poor service , unprofessional.

Review 6:The lodges were cute. Rustic.

Review 7:No.screens on the windows or screen door. That would be my only suggestion.

Review 8:The location was perfect, just outside of town, beautiful views.peaceful and quiet.

Review 9:Kitchenette was great but we wished they had another means of cooking besides microwave - we purchased a small outside grill which they allow so I think it would be nice to have a charcoal grill outside each lodge - last time we were in florida they had a permanent grill set in ground so you would just have to get your own bag of charcoal if you chose to cook.

Review 10:The lodge was really comfortable and we really enjoyed oursleves. It was very close to shopping, Gettysburg attractions and restaurants yet far enough away to enjoy beautiful views and fishing on their pond.

Review 11:The check in time is 4pm...which is pretty late, never seen a check in that late anywhere, and we travel quite a bit. We had just driven 6 hours to get to Gettysburg, so I went in and asked the lady at the front desk if we'd be able to check in early..she laughed in my face at first then made a call and accomodated us. The lock on our Lodge door didn't work very well, we figured out how to lock it at ease after several attempts. We put a "Do not Disturb" sign on our door and the cleaners still went in, which really wasn't a huge deal..however, the door was left unlocked by maid service. Unintentionally I'm sure..but when I called the front desk, the young man there said that they weren't aware the door lock was so finicky..which I have a hard time believing as the door jam had quite a bit of damage to it. For about 3 hours one day we were wanting ice and we kept trying to reach the front desk with no answer. Even went down to the front desk and walked around the building and couldn't find anyone or the ice machine.

Review 12:We loved the location of the lodges. The lodge was extremely clean, and beautifully decorated. Very homey and spacious. The view is beautiful!!!!

Review 13:Wi-Fi was spotty. Given it was kind of out in the middle of nowhere, I get why.

Review 14:Calm and quiet. Far enough away from Gettysburg, yet close enough to get to activities.

Review 15:The couch was not very comfortable. Could of used a little more light in the living room.

Review 16:Very quiet and peaceful, beautiful views. Great location. Only a few minutes from town but still far enough out to be away from the crowd. Will definitely come back!

Review 17:We had our 2 grandchildren with us and although our grandson would have liked a pool we enjoyed having a nice quiet place to go after a very hot and muggy day touring the Battlefields. It was quiet and a beautiful location.

Review 18:Windows were dirty. Kitchen only has table ware and no serving dishes. A toaster would have been appreciated.

Review 19:The location and the quality of construction.

Review 20:The only thing I would criticise is that there were only 2 loungers on the terrace so the three of us were unable to sit out there at the same time.

Review 21:The lodges were very spacious and beautifully furnished with a lovely little terrace with superb views. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and the shower was huge.

Review 22:Shower didn't have a lot of pressure.

Review 23:Loved the kitchenette and that the bedroom was separate from the living area. Great place for kids. Next time would rent the two bedroom.

Review 24:Minor dislike; wish they had a better coffee setup. Full size coffee makers with hotel 4 cup coffee in filter??? Doesn't work at all.

Review 25:The location was the most outstanding feature!! On hilltop overlooking historic battlefields, just far away from the hustle of town. Cabins were very comfy and kids loved them!!!

Review 26:The staff was more than friendly. They did so much to make us comfortable. They were fun to talk to. The room was very nice and I slept so well in the bed. I'll be coming back to this place annually just to be there.

Review 27:The noise level in the room next to ours was loud late as people partied after a wedding. Also true for friends who stayed in another unit. Two our of three fairly sleepless nights took away from the experience. Needs more sound proofing between rooms.

Review 28:Lovely setting, nice comfortable room.

Review 29:Just too far from the battlefields for us. We were led to believe that this hotel was on the battlefield. This was a disappointment.

Review 30:The location was beautiful, we both loved the site location.

Review 31:lighting in the cabin was poor, difficult to read or knit.

Review 32:The location was great. individual cabins were great. Nice and quite and peaceful. Not able to enjoy the grounds too much due to weather.

Review 33:far from town and a couch needs to be put in front of the bed. No dining facilities on premises

Review 34:lovely appointed room with kitchen. great views, very pastoral. They provide continental breakfast.

Review 35:A bit remote from town. Got there waited nearly 10 minutes for someone to come to check us in. While waiting, called company phone, went to voice mail. Wi-fi didn't work at all in our cabin. When someone finally did get to the desk, he forgot to apologize for our wait and only said how busy he was. A simple apology would've sufficed.

Review 36:Nice private cabins...quiet setting

Review 37:Liked everything. Most of the staff people were wonderful...just one who had no personality with people at all.

Review 38:The location and view were excellent. We enjoyed sitting out in front of the lodge on the porch admiring the view....deer walking by and the strolls around the pond. Conveniently located just outside of Gettysburg. For any quilters...there is a wonderful shop on the way in to Gettysburg you must stop and see.

Review 39:The hot water heater was set a little too low. A chair in the room would've been nice.

Review 40:It was quiet and clean. Beautiful setting with very nice design and decor.

Review 41:We found nothing wrong.

Review 42:The cottage was so much nicer than a hotel room. Bucolic and serene surroundings. A wedding was being held at the lake and was picture perfect. We were busy during the 2 days we were there but it was great to come " home" to our little cottage and relax.

Review 43:Had a nice patio off the back, but no place to sit. A couple of chairs on the patio would have been ideal.

Review 44:Clean, comfortable, quiet. Courteous staff. Very new facility. A comfychairin the living room would be nice.

Review 45:Parking on a steep incline. No safety rails in shower for your older clients. Need toaster in kitchen

Review 46:Nice and peaceful location. Lodges are large with easy access to drop off of travel bag and parking. Beds were perfect for sleeping. Liked the wild life (deer) on site. Cleaning staff did a very good job.

Review 47:Kitchen was not complete (spoons but no bowls, they provided tea but nothing to heat water except glass cup in microwave, no table, toaster, hot top or grill so not a 'self contained' cabin) There was a decent amount of floor space for the whole cabin but 2 queen beds were jammed into 1 bedroom - lots of wasted space

Review 48:Lovely free standing cabin Modern but rustic feel built with stone and wood Quiet and beautiful location Clean, tidy and cosy Reasonable rates

Review 49:The sofa and chair in the living room area were not very comfortable.

Review 50:The location, the size of the lodge, the large bedroom, bathroom and living/kitchen area with plenty of parking.

Review 51:No handrails in shower TV screens high and not big enough for the distance to watch Gravel parking lot with noisy people

Review 52:Walk in shower TVs Coffee Pot and Fireplace Space

Review 53:There was no porch furniture to sit on to enjoy the deck. Only a sofa and a wing chair, enough to seat 4 people in the living area, were available even though the accomodations were for 6. There was no desk chair. Only one floor lamp lit the living area other than a chandelier. It was hard to see to read. The bathroom sink light shades were dirty. Inadequate parking near entry door and traversing paver walkway was precarious. Beds were not as comfortable as we had hoped.

Review 54:The property was well sited. Our deck looked out into the treetops. Rooms were spacious. Private entrance to accomodations made the experience seem more rustic.

Review 55:The location was serene and gorgeous, nestled just beyond the town. I really enjoyed this stay most of anywhere I've stayed before. The owners and operators of this establishment have thought of everything. I will definitely stay again.

Review 56:Would recommend to provided some chairs (lounge) for the terrace. At this moment there are none.

Review 57:We have enjoyed our stay at the lodges very much. Very comfortable lodge.

Review 58:no chairs to sit out on the back deck --- or chairs for the front porch.

Review 59:the privacy and location. even has a fishing pond and trails to hike! was so much better than your average hotel room --

Review 60:Needed more chairs/tables in living area Needs kitchen/dining room table More hooks in bathroom are needed Definitely needs curtains! Blinds are very nice but not enough.

Review 61:Comfortable beds Large shower Rustic feel View Spacious rooms

Review 62:dirty dishes no ice cube tray in freezer had to wait literally 10 minutes to check out till the desk person came back, 5 other employees were about but none of them could check me out??

Review 63:Individual Lodges rural area quiet and peaceful

Review 64:No negatives at all

Review 65:I absolutely loved the accommodations. The staff was wonderful. A very beautiful setting and incredible peace all around. We could not have stayed in a better place.

Review 66:The gentleman at check in seemed very curt and uninformative. We asked some questions since we never have visted the area and it seemed as though we were bothering him.

Review 67:The lodges were well maintained and very clean. The lady at check out was very kind and informative.

Review 68:The toilet made a weird noise when flushed. It was bike week so the people in the other room were loud, smoked weed cause you could smell it. They also were stomping and banging very early.

Review 69:The cabin was nice inside

Review 70:Stayed two nights. (July 3rd and July 4th) The cabin was ready for check-in when we arrived at 4:00 pm. The problem came the next day. We left the cabin at 10:00am, came back at 1:00pm. House keeping did not clean the room. Left again at around 3:00pm leaving the sign on the door knob to please clean the room. Came back around 8:00pm and the room still was cleaned. When I checked out on July 5th, I questioned if there was House Keeping Service on Friday July 4th and was told by the front desk "Yes they did but House Keeping may not have been told we were there and didn't check the cabin." For the differance in price we paid between July 3rd and July 4th I was expecting better service.

Review 71:Truly can't think of anything other than having to leave to come back to reality.

Review 72:The location was wonderful, only a few miles out from the city. Best of both worlds, could come back in the evenings and just relax from the busy sightseeing day. Separate lodges gave sense of privacy. Staff super friendly and helpful.

Review 73:An icemaker or ice cube trays in the freezer would have been nice, but that is they only complaint I have. The Lodge was awesome!

Review 74:The staff was efficient. Our room was clean and comfortable.

Review 75:didn't put away fresh towels, sweep up any dirt that was brought in that day. No restaurant.

Review 76:Comfort of cabins s, set up ,clean when we arrived. we stayed fivedays, staff was helpful.

Review 77:-Wished there was an accessible ice machine on the grounds that residents could get to without staff assisstance. -The maids only cleaned if you put out a sign for it and they skipped your cabin if the sign was blown off by the wind. - The lodges were an ok distance from Gettysburg, very manageable, but looking back I would have chosen a closer location, such as a hotel downtown where it would be possible to walk to the restaurants and shops.

Review 78:The beds were comfortable and the amenities were good. Liked the staff. They were kind and courteous with questions.

Review 79:The only improvement, if possible, was the internet was a little intermitant going in and out...

Review 80:We loved the proximity to the historic battlefield of Gettysburg and the views the lodges had on there property. We enjoyed seeing deer and fawn almost every morning behind our cabin and the staff was very pleasant to deal with...

Review 81:Our group included my 88 year old mother, my wife, daughter and son-in-law and their two month old infant. It was great that we all got to stay in the same lodge which was nicely furnished and very cofortable. My daughter caught up on washing the baby bottles and we all enjoyed the convenience of the kitchen

Review 82:Liked it all!

Review 83:Great location. Friendly staff. Very clean and we'll kept facilities. I highly recommend this place.

Review 84:Nil of note.

Review 85:I particularly liked the country-setting, away from the bustle of town. The view is spectacular and serene.

Review 86:The location was great. We were very close to the battlefield. It was a nice ride into town each day.

Review 87:I loved the location & the beautiful surroundings. The staff were very nice. I would definitely stay again & recommend to my friends.

Review 91:The space is very comfortable and having a separate bedroom was an unexpected bonus.

Review 92:Convenient to Gettysburg park. Peaceful location. No crowds. Wifi works good. GPS works in the area.

Review 93:No stove or burner

Review 94:Private , quiet and comfortable

Review 95:The space, not being crammed in one room.

Review 96:Water notice

Review 97:Clean and friendly

Review 98:Nothing bad. Closer to town would just be noisy and congested. Very peaceful!!

Review 99:Biggest 4 poster bed I have ever seen!!

Review 100:asked twice for shampoo and soap...housekeeping never brought it. sink was plugged up when we arrived...poorly equipped kitchen

Review 101:beautiful views....

Review 103:The location

Review 104:Room needed to upgrade the coffee pot

Review 109:nothing

Review 110:everything was outstanding

Review 112:Everything except breakfast

Review 113:Will stay here again!

Review 114:Everything

Review 115:Clean, quiet, comfortable and super friendly and helpful staff.

Review 123:We loved everything about the lodge, it was quiet, comfortable and spacious enough for a family of 5.

Review 124:The lodge we stayed in was very comfortable with great amenities! It was also quiet with a great view of Gettysburg.

Review 125:Everything...especially cabin concept, and view

Review 126:The TV's did not work. The clerk tried fixing it but was unable to. No discount or apologies. Especially when we told them as we were leaving about the tv again no reaction.

Review 127:The room was big. The beds were super comfortable. Loved the shower.

Review 128:Beautiful views and a relaxing, serene atmosphere. Great view of the battlefields from our porch. Parking was very convenient to our cabin. Staff was very cheerful. Wish we could have stayed longer. We will return for another relaxing vacation.

Review 130:The Lieutenant Lodge was very pretty, clean, modern and the beds were comfortable.
