Reviews for Eisenhower Hotel and Conference Center

Review 1:Old, tired facility, including leaks in the ceiling in the hall outside our room, with trash cans underneath to catch water. Battered furniture, old TV and not enough light in our room. No modern USB outlets. Only three puny, lumpy foam pillows on a King sized bed.

Review 2:Front desk staff was helpful and pleasant. Good location.

Review 3:The place was disgusting. Lamp shades ripped, stains all over curtains and stained sheets . The ceiling looked like it was gonna collapse . Walls were beat up. Bathrooms outdated and gross. Found mice droppings. I widnt even stay here if it was free! I give it a 1 rating don't know how it calculates a 3.3 review

Review 4:Nothing

Review 5:Need more amenities and some updating for the price.

Review 6:Love the indoor pool and the rooms that surround it. We have stayed here before, three other times just for a nice weekend.

Review 7:Paid a premium rate for a flop house room. Rooms were unsanitary. Plumbing was in poor condition - spigot fell apart in shower and on the sink. Black mold and mildew in bathroom. Electrical outlets were overloaded. Mattresses were stained with body fluids/contamination. Linens were ripped. Bathroom floors had bug and rodent debris and hair in corners. Desk employee was defensive, rude and disgruntled.

Review 8:I had booked a poolside room because we were traveling with our grandson and he really loves swimming when we travel. When we got there, we found they "upgraded" our room. We checked in at 3:00 and were given our room key. When we got to our room, it had not been cleaned. We had to wait in the lobby for 45minutes. We figured we'd check the pool. It was like two buildings away, inside, but very far from our room. We found out the reason they moved us was because they had a dog show there all week, and they needed to have the rugs cleaned. I feel they should have let me know about the room change so that we could have changed hotels. Also, they should have given us a different room when ours wasn't ready.

Review 9:Location and price.

Review 10:I had booked a Queen sized Room with two Queen sized beds, poolside. When we got there we found we were located in a Queen sized room with two Queen sized beds but not poolside. The room had a large steel wall outside the window far from the stunning view we expected. This, we told was an upgrade ? but we were not told about this as we checked in we only found out when we let ourselves into the room. The reason we were only told on making enquiries at the front desk were somewhat dubious. We also found a dead cockroach in our bathroom plus the coffee/hot water system was rubbish and usually far from hot enough. Breakfast was expensive and mostly cold.

Review 11:Was so disappointed at how old and falling apart the rooms were. TV was old, remote went dead (maint fixed quickly) no frig, sink fixtures moved, bath tub had some mold, when heat came on terrible smell...I'm still coughing! Coffee was very old, the door bar lock did not work (Rm 140) This must have been great in its hey day - 70's but it seems very sad today.

Review 12:The staff was very accommodating. The buffet breakfast was very convenient and good.

Review 13:We were transferred to the aspire hotel No wifi Drain in bathroom was very very slow to drain No ice maker on the same floor Asked for smoking room, there were none(smoke free hotel)

Review 14:The convenience of the first floor The location

Review 15:My husband and I both use c-pap machines for sleep apnea. We asked the front desk for an extension cord in order to use our machines and were told that if we plugged anything else in we would blow a fuse. I had a horrible night and was not rested due to not being able to use my machine. Preferred to have a fridge and microwave in the room.

Review 16:Beautiful location and close to all the Gettysburg sightseeing spots. It is an older hotel but it was clean.

Review 17:Well, it was strange that we were one I of very few guests on a Friday night. But I really don't have anything bad to say. The room was clean and stocked and comfortable.

Review 18:The pool area was really nice, except the hot tub was not open. Our poolside room walked right out to the pool, which was open late and made for a relaxing way to unwind. Staff was friendly.

Review 19:No updates, rooms looked like it was out of the 60's. We were not expecting that. Free wifi? No one told us. Check in and check out in different buildings. Went to check out and there were 30+ flies at the front office in the aspen building.

Review 20:Not much.

Review 21:Poolside rooms hot! Finally got a third room away from pool that wascool enough. Desk clerk very unhelpful re facilities. Didn'ttell us abt breakfast, elevator. Had to carry oxygen machine upstairs. Not good!

Review 22:We went when it was bike week and the arcade and go carts were closed down. This was a disappointment to my sons as they were looking forward to spending time there while my daughter and I explored the town.

Review 23:The staff was very pleasant and helpful in letting us know what tours were the best deal

Review 24:All is great !!

Review 25:Mike at the front desk is the best information provider. Joe the general manager guide us through the in and out of all of the 4th of July activities .AWSOME JOB. Thank you guys, see you next time.

Review 26:Not that it was a bad experience just that it is an old facility but well kept

Review 27:Price was right and in good location. While i did not take advantage of all there are plenty of amenities. Very nice bar !!!

Review 28:The coffee pot was not cleaned and still had the used filter in it. The wallpaper was coming off the wall in the bathroom (from a prior ceiling leak?) and the glue was smeared on the floorboard which made it look dirty(almost looked like dried blood).

Review 29:The room was basically clean and the beds were clean and comfortable. The pool was clean as was everything in the lobby.

Review 30:Receptionist was RUDE. Hotel was noisy. Didn't get to use pool. Vending machine ate my money. Bathtub wouldn't hold water. No discount or refund for being unsatisfied.

Review 31:They upgraded us for free

Review 32:Facility was a little "dated" and worn. Could have been a little cleaner, but again, it was a good deal to have a place to sleep and shower.

Review 33:The overall price was a deal, two nights for $122. Lobby area was very nice and staff was extremely pleasant.

Review 34:Nothing comes to mind.

Review 35:The room was lovely. The hotel was very clean. The staff in the restaurant went out of their way to be helpful. Two women came into the breakfast buffet, filled their plates and then complained that this was not want they wanted. The staff offered to make them something fresh even thought everything was fresh and when this still did not satisfy the women, they were not charged for the meal. The staff remained polite and professional.

Review 36:Recently the Aspire was spun off from the Eisenhower; the transition has some problems. Getting around is complicated--the road net tends to misdirect visitors under the new plan; signage is terrible: I wandered around the corridors like a rat in a maze trying the find the restaurant (asked the desk man for directions, he basically said "that way" and didn't mention the restaurant was closed!). In the room (603) the shower control didn't work (I think the spigot valve was rusted--in any case, it wouldn't move) and the tub drain did not work. Bathing was a challenge--and it shouldn't be in a modern hotel. I'm generally pretty tolerant of hotels--I've stayed in a lot here and overseas from Dublin to Abu Dhabi--but I'm also a human factors engineer by trade, and nonfunctional shower controls and bad signage reflect carelessness. Jerk a knot in your staff or you'll get a bad rep very quickly.

Review 37:The location is good, the rooms (at Aspire) comfortable.

Review 38:Might be difficult for people with walking problems to reach adjacent Inn for breakfast

Review 39:Good choice of breakfast at week-ends Good quiet room Good facilities

Review 40:No refrigerator in the room so I couldn't keep my water cold. The secondary lock on the door was broken so couldn't use it.

Review 41:Went to just get away for awhile and this fit the bill. Because it sits back off the main road it feels like you're in your own little world. The rooms were dated but clean and had a historical feel to them. The lobby had a somewhat grand feel to it.

Review 42:1. The room was not secure--the bolt lock had been pushed in and not replaced.2. The room decoration was shabby 3. The back entrance was not secure--I was not directed to this door even though my room was VERY close to the door!! 4.I was BILLED twice for the room; the second billing was twice as much as what I had expected to pay when I made the reservation. I will be looking to see if the fees were adgusted per manager's statement. Apparently the person at the desk had used my charge for another couple's billing??

Review 43:Location

Review 44:Sheet only on mattress, no maid service, no staff, mildew in bathroom, indoor pool felt like a tropical rain forest, exterior doors left open, no security, no staff at desk in evening so could not get a bar of soap, told in deli to go over to the Aspire to get it. Bed uncomfortable, left a day early-could not take another night there. Gettysburg is great.

Review 45:Everything...this is the second time we've stayed at the Eisenhower and we always get upgraded to the Aspire hotel. The hotel is fantastic and the staff is very helpful and nice. Will be staying again.

Review 46:All Good

Review 47:The friendliness of everyone and the location is very convenient to everything, easy to find. Quiet surroundings. Very pleasant experience and will return for another stay.

Review 48:The Allstar complex wasn't even open with no explanation of why. Liked that we had access to the Eisenhower pool but it was freezing. Also kind of creepy on that side if the hotel since I don't think any of the rooms were being used. There was no schedule for the shuttle that takes you into town, that would've been helpful.

Review 49:Booked with the Eisenhower Hotel but was put in the Aspire Suites. Upgrade was definitely a plus. Beautiful rooms. Very spacious, quiet, & clean. Fridge, microwave & coffee maker right in room. Lobby has a computer that let's you print off things, very useful since most people don't carry around their printers.

Review 50:Some confusion with hotel name and facilities. Actually, stayed at the Aspire Hotel. Restaurant and pool in the Eisenhower.

Review 51:The room was nice and clean. It include a small refrigerator, a microwave, and coffee maker. Location was perfect for our visit to Gettysburg National Military Park.

Review 52:WE were upgraded to the aspire but we walked through the eisenhower and used all their features (pool, restaurants, etc..) the 2 hotels are connected...they are both beautifully kept and are a wonderful example of the old time hotel...we loved it...

Review 53:The restaurant was not open during our stay and the front desk recommended that the lounge food was the same. It was not. Just typical bar food. I would have rather went to town to eat.

Review 54:The rooms are HUGH. Two King beds, a sleeper sofa, and a lounge chair. Two sinks, one outside the bathroom allows two people to prepare at the same time. Very comfortable beds, and very clean. I would definitely stay there again.

Review 55:The restaurant was closed the entire stay. Most of the other amenities were also unavailable or hard to access. The hotel was separate from the Eisenhower (connected by a "catwalk") and the directions to the "Lounge" (the bar where they had a limited and highly overpriced menu) were not labeled - if it hadn't been for another guest we would never have found the "Lounge."

Review 56:While staying at Aspire our car broke down in the lot. We were headed to dinner out of town. The maintenance man Sheldon came out to see what was wrong. He looked at our car, and when he realized he couldn't do anything he went right to the front desk and got us information on taxis in the area complete with the phone# and all other info we needed to provide to the taxi service. When we realized that it would have been too much to take a taxi to where we wanted to go, Sheldon showed us how to get to the hotel bar. He told the bar tender to take care of us because we were having a bad day. The bar tender Jeff was such a nice guy too. He took pity on us. Such nice people! It is rare that we meet people who go above and beyond to make our stay a little bit better. It made our predicament somewhat easier to take. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in the Gettysburg area. It is just a shame that such a nice Hotel was mostly vacant. People don't know what they're missing.

Review 57:Nothing that we did not like specifically. Some services would have been nice such as better hours on snack/sandwich shop. A very grand hotel at one time that is worn (if that bothers you) with smaller rooms not furnished as well as larger newer hotels like the one next door.

Review 58:Room location at the pool was what our grandchildren wanted and was excellent. Attached rooms for us and grandkids was extremely convenient. Parking was great. It was quiet and private. People at the Conference Center were very helpful and pleasant. Extremely easy to get to and from battlefield sites and downtown Gettysburg. We would stay there again.

Review 59:I was told we would have a king room and was a double. The kitchen, bars and all amenities were closed by 9:30 when we got there. Was told it was open til11. Dirty, bad order, hair in bathroom. Broken lock on the door. Coffee pot was gross and not useable. One of the lights would work only part time. No pets allowed and dog was barking for hours. Ice machine broken. Pop machine would not take money. We drove 13 hours and this is what we got.

Review 60:The food in the lounge was over priced. Charged my credit card twice, once for each room, instead of one full price.

Review 61:Enjoyed the pool, the location to all the amenities and historic sites was perfect for us! Having a food restarant in the hotel was great.

Review 62:Remote to TV didn't work and it took forever to get it fixed. Finally left was tired of waiting and when we got back. They had exchanged tv.

Review 63:Transferred us Aspire motel. much nicer and got it for same price! Pretty awesome

Review 64:From the time of arrival we needed assistance and the employee stayed on the phone to make sure we arrived giving us directions. The room was very clean and comfortable. It was quiet and the environment was very peaceful. If we are ever in that area again, we will definitely stay at the Eisenhower again. Thank you for a wonderful, peaceful experience.

Review 65:Upon arrival wasn't listed as having a reservation. Good thing I took conformation papers with. Fire alarm system going off while moving bags into room. Hotel rooms in desperate need of renovation!!! Paint pealing, wall paper coming off the walls etc... Bathroom floor had god knows what on it, that I cleaned up. Stood on towels the rest my stay. Ice machine on the floor I was staying on didn't work had to go to next level up every time I needed ice. A/C unit worked for cooling but very noisy while running. Lighting was terrible!!! Very dim in the rooms and Halls. Observed no security camera's anywhere... outside or inside. Didn't make me feel safe and secure. Carpet and furniture in room needed to be shampooed...Very dirty. The pull handles for the dresser and night stand were missing. Made opening them a chore. No bike rack outside to store bikes during stay. Had to bring them into the hotel and lock them to a railing in the side entrance stair landing. I could go on but I think you get the idea!!!! How did this place get a 3 star rating?????Subtract two stars and you'll be close to reality! This place was certainly not worth the price that was charged!!!

Review 66:Quiet. Good water pressure. Matrass was OK

Review 67:Not what i expected for what i paid. Very run down, not that clean. look like it had not been vacuumed in weeks. When we got there could not even get card to work in door to enter room so had to end up getting employee to get us another key. AC was not working very well. Checked out and lady did not even ask how our visit was or thank you for staying !!! When we go back in the fall i will be staying at a B&B. This place is a dump !!!

Review 68:Nothing !!!!!

Review 69:Not as close to town as some hotels (but that's a plus, too, since the town can get noisy with tourists). The girl at the front desk acted as if we were interrupting her phone call. Understandable, but not that welcoming.

Review 70:Comfortable, quiet, inexpensive, on the edge of the country. Charming, with a big, old-fashioned (conservative 1960s) slightly disused feeling. The lady in the deli/store was friendly and accommodating.

Review 71:I found a cashew on the floor lol

Review 72:It was beautiful

Review 73:While husband showered, water backed up. Took about 15 minutes to drain after he was done.

Review 74:Spacious room, King bed

Review 76:Plugs keep falling out of wall outlets

Review 77:Lighting poor snd outlets loose but comfortable and clean

Review 86:The a/c was not working properly in the room. The soda machines were broken on both floors

Review 87:The Location

Review 88:No TV channels Lumpy pillows Bed way to soft

Review 89:The atmosphere and quiet

Review 90:The checkout was confusing because they have two differently named hotels with poor directions. Toilet ran

Review 91:Needs upgraded especially bathrooms

Review 92:The bedrooms needed to be painted and refreshed to update them.

Review 93:The banquet was great....good food and great serving staff.

Review 94:THE ROOM WAS COLD NO ONE TURNED THE HEATER ON BEFORE MY ARRIVAL. ROOM WALLS HAD MARKS ALL OVER THEM AND RUGS WHERE DIRTY.

Review 95:WATER WAS HOT

Review 97:Staff didnt seemed to know what was going on, room was switched to aspire with out my knowledge

Review 98:Aspire was a nice room

Review 99:walls needed painting doors fixed TV upgrade

Review 100:Rooms were very dated, and needs an upgrade

Review 101:Location, bed, and restaurant

Review 102:TV was poor. Maintenance of facility was not great (ie. window sils had wood rot). Howeer the grounds look very nice.

Review 103:Bed slept fine.

Review 104:very out dated for the price

Review 105:big rooms,double sinks, location

Review 106:The room could have had a coat of paint just looked old.

Review 107:The restaurant food was excellent.t

Review 108:Rooms had an odor and were a bit dumpy

Review 116:Great charm and room was very spacious

Review 117:pools to cold and needs fixed up alittle

Review 118:very quiet very relaxing

Review 119:Decor is drab and visually uninviting. Especially in the dining area.

Review 120:Grounds were relaxing. Appreciated close proximity to Gettysburg sites.

Review 121:The pool was to cold .

Review 122:Just how helpfull the employee are.

Review 123:The Eisenhower hotel upgraded us to the aspire hotel, king suites, the room was very clean I would highly recommend the aspire hotel.

Review 124:The pool was very cold.

Review 125:The rooms were nice amd roomy. We also liked that the Allstar Expo Center was on the same grounds as the hotel.

Review 126:First time in Gettysburg, and went on Fathers' Day weekend. HUGE room, comfy beds, and very clean room. There was a basketball tourney going on in town that weekend, and there was a high school reunion taking place in the hotel, so the hotel was pretty much booked. To be honest, you could not even tell that they were there from our room - no loudness or anything from such large get togethers downstairs! The staff was exceptionally friendly, especially the bartender and "Lalani," who went above & beyond to make my husband and I feel welcome. "Lalani," my husband, and I had about a 30 minute conversation, and I felt as though I'd known her for years! There were some areas of the hotel that showed some wear and tear, but nothing gross - it gave it character, I think! Thanks again, and looking forward to my next visit!

Review 127:Once in the hotel I had trouble finding my room. The halls were confusing.

Review 128:I liked the comfort of my room-I slept quite well. The staff was very accommodating, and the atmosphere most relaxing. I had no trouble finding the hotel, and I liked the location because of its being so quiet.
