Reviews for 1863 Inn of Gettysburg

Review 1:Room 252 was smelly and dirty. Was not cleaned. I got a tick on my belly after first night stay. Strange for December? Where did I get it? Not sure.

Review 2:Love location.

Review 3:Less than average sound insulation...Road noise and neighboring rooms are more audible than in most hotels.

Review 4:Good location relative to the downtown and battlefield areas.

Review 5:MY ONLY COMPLAINTS WOULD BE THAT THE FAN IN THE BATHROOM DIDNT WORK AND THE FURNACE WAS LOUD WHEN IT RAN

Review 6:THE LOCATION WAS EXCELLENT, WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE TO MANY DESIRED SITES. THE ROOM WAS VERY NEAT AND CLEAN.

Review 7:Nothing it was good.

Review 8:Everything. the room was lovely and cosy the bed was comfy. All normal facilities. The staff on reception were great and helpful.the hotel was right on the street for everything, breakfast was very good

Review 9:the toilet flusher broke and the corners of the room were very dirty but generally acceptable but it was noticeable and correctable

Review 10:center of activity in location and a great breakfast!

Review 11:See above

Review 12:Old, outdated, poor staff interaction. Would never return. Only benefit is location. Breakfast... We went to McDonalds after trying eat their food!

Review 13:This hotel was right in the middle of the historic district and there was a nice park right down the street to exercise the dogs. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and was also very knowledgeable about Civil War facts. The hotel free breakfast (which most hotels offer) was better than many other hotels and the place was very clean. I'd stay there again in a minute.

Review 14:This hotel is probably the best centrally located in Gettysburg and the price is comparable with other locations in the heart of town. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast was buffet style scrambled eggs, biscuits with sausage gravy, make-your-own waffles, juice, fresh brewed coffee, cereal , milk. This used to be a Holiday Inn back in the day but the place has been kept up fairly decently. It's a bit more $, but it's worth it if you plan to spend most of your time in and around the town itself. The Military park is a very short drive or a bit longer of a walk for those who would like to do that also. The Outlet Mall is a short drive down the road and no sales tax on clothing in Pennsylvania makes for some good finds. All in all, I would stay here again.

Review 15:The smell in the lobby is musty. The hotel only has double beds.

Review 16:The staff is wonderful. The guest room was very clean and nice. The breakfast had a great selection.

Review 17:The hotel was close to the attractions, restaurants, shops. Many things were within walking distance. It was very convenient....and our room was very quiet.

Review 18:The scenery was beautiful, saw several deer in the back near the woods, the breakfast was served by very friendly staff members and it was delicious! The rooms were very clean and enjoyed walking out into a patio setting. Always love coming back to Gettysburg.

Review 19:Hotel was a bit run down, seems to have lost its majestic appeal I am sure it had at one time.

Review 20:Absolutely loved the location of this hotel. Smack dab in the middle of this beautiful town.

Review 21:We stayed here for a bachelor party weekend and the staff was really nice and accommodating! We loved the nice big rooms and the breakfast was wonderful!

Review 22:The parking was tight. Perhaps there were too many cars from a wedding?? We had an infestation of ants on our first night. I was given cinnamon by a staff person to spread on the table, wall and around the door. It was 12:00 midnight. Too many people due to a soccer tournament getting ice and using the elevators. Breakfast area too congested on both mornings.

Review 23:Location

Review 24:Lot of construction which was no fault if the hotel

Review 25:Great location. Can walk to town. Staff at front desk gave us directions and hints of what to see and where to go

Review 26:The included breakfast had no vegan/vegitarian selections other then apples. Oatmeal, dry cereals & nuts should have been available.

Review 27:The location of the hotel in downtown Gettysburg makes it desirable.

Review 28:After the first nights sleep, my wife woke up with a whole series of bites on her ankle. We asked the front desk if they have a bed bug problem and she said no. She said it must be mosquito bites but it was not. We drove 6 hrs. the night before in pouring rain and entered the Inn in pouring rain. There were no mosquitos around. 3.5 weeks later, my wife still is getting small itchy spots on her legs. She did not have them at all before staying at the Inn.

Review 29:The Inn was pretty comfortable ( bug bites not withstanding ) and was very convenient to everything in Gettysburg. Breakfast was pretty good and free parking was great.

Review 30:The bed was really hard, I woke up in alot of pain. Also, there was no exhaust in the bathroom.

Review 31:The staff was really nice, and the room was very clean.

Review 32:We were only there for 1.5 days. The location was perfect for what we were doing. It was walking distance to downtown. The room was what you would expect for the price, we were pleased with the cleanliness.

Review 33:Could not get in early, even though requested. Also, by booking through 3rd party, could not use my AAA card.

Review 34:Convenience to all locations. Clean and comfortable

Review 35:Room and facility was clean. Staff was friendly. Free WiFi. Location was good proximity to sites and downtown. Could easily walk to many locations.

Review 36:even though we booked at online service-still feel like they could have given military discount at the time of check in-it wasn't even a consideration and considering the location-should have been honored.

Review 37:clean friendly hotel, we would stay again

Review 38:First time in Gettysburg. Hotel was centrally located and an easy walk to most places. We were on the back side of the hotel and the noise from the traffic was no an issue for us. The breakfast was a plus and it was very nice amenity.

Review 39:Breakfast was typical American. I just returned from Europe where the breakfasts are amazing. I was disapointed to realize that I am home...

Review 40:Excellent location. Good price. Ample parking. Super friendly staff-- easy walk to major Gettysburg attractions.

Review 41:The staff was very friendly, helpful, and respectful of your privacy. The continental breakfast had a great variety and the overall cleanliness was a welcomed relief compared to other places I have been.

Review 42:Great place to stay in Gettysburg. There's so much to do in the area and most is within walking distance of this hotel. Minor updating is needed but it is very clean and the staff is wonderful. Perfect 'home base.'

Review 43:I was allergic to something in the hotel room. I don't know what it was because the room was very clean, and my roommate was not bothered at all. I had terrible sneezing and congestion shortly after I checked in, and it got worse overnight. I left before the second night.

Review 44:Great location, very clean room, comfortable bed, free breakfast included - did I mention great location?

Review 45:We heard everyone coming on and off the elevator every night.

Review 46:The inn is downtown Gettysburg. We spent most of our time walking from place to place. We enjoyed some ghost tours and walking through the cemetery and battlefields. We loved oroukes across the street, delicious. Allegedly the 5th floor of the in is haunted l, we stayed on the 4th.

Review 47:Just don't like paper plates & plastic utensils but otherwise really good breakfast, with lots of thoughtful additions. Overlooking pool area is drab.

Review 48:Clean, as advertised. No pet smells. Easy to find & convenient to everything. Breakfast was very good. Back room was very quiet.

Review 49:Some traffic noise, but we got use to it. We were on the street side, so the view vs. the quiet... We opted for the view.

Review 50:We loved this hotel and the location. You can walk to some of the battlefields, the cemeteries and downtown. Beautiful scenery and sunset from the forth floor. The breakfast was better than any of the other hotels we stayed at on our way to and from Gettysburg.

Review 51:Not much ambience; a bit worn, but comfortable --- like elderly Aunt Mabel's house!

Review 52:Value for money; spacious room; excellent location; comfortable bed.

Review 53:This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of many Gettysburg downtown restaurants, shops, and other attractions, and it's a short drive to others. It's clean and comfortable.

Review 54:Breakfast. Rooms not having an option of one king and a full. Two full beds too crowded when traveling with children. Would have required two room reservation to have been more comfortable.

Review 55:Convenient to all attractions. Pool Rooms were clean. Free wifi Very friendly staff Parking convenient to rooms

Review 56:Pool is great. The inn has it ghost on the 5th fl we have picture of him his name is George he so if you like ghost you see him the 5fl ask for room on the 5fl.

Review 57:The staff we came across, housekeeping mostly, were not friendly did not smile and seemed like they didn't want to engage at all in conversation.

Review 58:Loved the breakfast! Best breakfast we have ever had at a hotel. The lady running the breakfast was friendly to us and was very attentive to food and cleanliness.

Review 59:Although this is a non smoking hotel, we could still smell the cigarette smoke from when they obviously had rooms where smoking was allowed.

Review 60:The location was great for walking to a lot of places.

Review 61:I cant think of a negative

Review 62:Our band, The Irish Volunteers, stayed in two rooms over the weekend as we performed at the Gettyburg Military...The location..right in the middle of town and on the main drag was perfect..The breakfast was great. The desk staff was so helpful..

Review 63:From the balcony of the hotel, we got a feel of the history of Gettysburg and where we would like to go. We were walking distance from many historic places as well as great food with the appropriate atmosphere of the period.

Review 64:Wireless was useless, parking is a hassle if you come in late.

Review 65:Easy check in and check out, was quiet, even with a wedding party staying there. Didn't try the pool or restaurant, so I can't comment on them.

Review 66:The bathroom, although spotless, did have a bit of a musty odor. I would suggest using an air freshener each day as part of the cleaning process.

Review 67:The hotel was very convenient for our small group of tourists. Rooms and bathrooms were spotless. Housekeeping staff was very friendly and understanding about our sleeping in late some mornings. Our rooms were always clean by the time we came back even though we left late in the morning. Nice breakfast room and a wide selection of breakfast foods.

Review 68:pool area was monitored by young kid and just confusing, rooms were small, my husband could barely stand in the shower, breakfast is minimal and over crowded - both days we had to struggle to find seating and ended up sitting with strangers
