Reviews for Anno 1793 Sekelgården

Review 1:No complaints.

Review 2:This small hotel had the charm of the old and the comforts of the new. The location was close to the city center, historic sites, restaurants and shopping. The staff was most helpful.

Review 3:Breakfast, a funereal atmosphere in the dismal dining room. In a hotel of that class one should not have cheap flimsy beakers, and nothing in the way of toiletries.

Review 4:The comfy beds and the position of hotel

Review 5:Charming hotel with a lovely garden and a welcoming, homey feel. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was included, and was really lovely. Would recommend to anyone planning a trip to Ystad.

Review 6:Gorgeous hotel surrounding a beautiful garden to either sit out in or have breakfast in the morning. Good central location to everything. Strong wifi - everything was perfect.

Review 7:The Breakfast room was very badly laid out and lacked structure (not enough spaces and tables too close together but the food was good, plentiful, fresh and replenished often.

Review 8:The room was wonderful, so spacious and comfortable. Loved the garden and the fridge in the room leant itself to buying a bottle of wine to drink while reading in the garden. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The honesty fridge (water and Cola) in reception was lovely and the free coffee/tea making facility in the breakfast room was a welcome addition - not to mention the free home made biscuits.

Review 9:Beds weren't too good, too soft and the double one is too small, needed to pay extra for a bigger bed. Breakfast was included in the price, it was ok, but not very much variety.

Review 10:Location, wifi, quite big rooms with everything you need. Nice couple as staff. Clean place.

Review 11:Was a little confused about the name of the hotel, with two components. Thought sekelgarden was the street, until I asked a local for directions. Signposts say sekelgarden.

Review 12:Charming staff and buildings. Enjoyed restaurant next door. Really quiet streets (in September). Looking for another excuse to go back and stay longer.

Review 13:Bikes to hire were in need of servicing Room was not cleaned to a high standard upon our arrival. Bad drain smell in bathroom

Review 14:Very lovely building and garden Fantastic Location Nicely decorated Good Continental Breakfast

Review 15:Receptionist not very friendly; in the room the door to the toilet could not be closed; breakfast just middle standard; no service at the table in the breakfast room;

Review 16:centrally located in the middleof the town;

Review 17:How lovely to stay in an individual hotel, rather than one of an anonymous chain. Very comfortable room, good breakfast, and pleasant owner. A must for Wallander fans!

Review 18:Very cold and poor welcome. For the same price we had a very big and nice room and the other one was small with old furniture... ! Far too expensive for the service provided !

Review 19:the location in Ystad and the old building...

Review 20:Pretty difficult to drag one's luggage from street level up to first fl room through reception, garden, stairs, garden, stairs, breakfast room, stairs (this time steep ones), abd, finally, corridor. Really, and I say this with some afterthought, a bloody nuisance. Managment should take note here, and try out another solution. However agile and of normal constitution I can think of many other 60+ers who's find the task daunting.

Review 21:Good location and full of old-time "charm". Splendid idea to have a small but comprehensive lending library in the reception.

Review 22:The dreadful manner in which we were greeted. No attempt at a welcome at all. The money was demanded as soon as we arrived which is not the usual practice in hotels. The owner took a phone call in the middle of checking us in with no apology at the interruption, and as we arrived in reception on our way to check out he demanded our keys the moment he saw us. This is the worst manner in which we have ever been treated in a hotel during over 60 years of world wide travel.

Review 23:The location

Review 24:We loved this place! Very charming. The bedroom was comfortable, there was plenty of space, good facilities. Wifi worked reliably. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, and the garden available for dining was lovely. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The brewery next door is a great scene, with good food and good drinks and a wonderful beer garden. This place is only a few minutes away from shops and restaurants. Highly recommend it!

Review 25:Can't think of anything negative to say. Friendly staff, situated in the center of town, what more could you ask for.

Review 26:Not your usual run of mill hotel. Plenty of character and interesting decoration.

Review 27:We travelled with a baby and though requested in the booking, the hotel staff was surprised by the request an had to organize a baby cot. Seems to be a common problem throughout Sweden. The real problem though was the room size. Rather small for a family of three (as it is a "heritage" building) and no lift provided, you should be aware that travelling with heavy or bulky luggage is a clear "NO".

Review 28:The Sekelgarden is a very cosy, charming and beautiful hotel. Cant stress this enough. It would be perfect for a couple on a leisure trip travelling through Ystad. Parking is very convenient as public parking is only 50m away. We only had a one night stay there unfortunately so only limited things to comment on.

Review 29:Very personal and friendly staff - very trustfull and serviceminded

Review 30:The wonderful old building full of charm. Very quiet and peaceful. Lovely breakfast.

Review 31:The stairs in our room seemed a little scaring.

Review 32:Very flexible staff. Nice garden. Fine and central location.

Review 33:Very comfortable beds

Review 34:Great location and easy to find from Theatre car park which is the best one to park in. Great restaurant and microbrewery next door. Friendly staff.

Review 35:We had a room next to the kitchen witch made our sleep in Sunday to an early bird 7am

Review 36:It was a beautiful quint facility with a lovely inner garden.

Review 37:Very very small room, lack of any lift, no parking.

Review 38:Location.

Review 39:Internettet virkede desværre ikke

Review 40:Det er et sødt, historisk sted i den gamle bydel

Review 41:nothing.

Review 42:A large room, very comfortable and nicely decorated. Very close to the main street, but still very quiet.

Review 43:Too bad we had to leave so early

Review 44:Very friendly staff, located in the heart of the city

Review 45:Parking can be problematic

Review 46:in the middle of the town

Review 47:Nothing

Review 48:Lovely hotel that oozes character, very odd layout due to its age! Lovely clean room and warm welcome on arrival

Review 49:we stayed only one night :-(

Review 50:Nice old house. Very very special. To stay here is amazing.

Review 51:We liked everything about the place and especially the tea making facilities.

Review 52:Confusing room discription - we expected another bedtype.

Review 53:Garden, location, the houses.

Review 54:No parking. For older people that was difficult.

Review 55:Not applicable.

Review 56:The staff were great. The ruin so evocative.

Review 57:Lack of car parking

Review 58:Location right in the midst of the old town. Absolutely central to everything. Nice garden.. tea and coffee available in common area.. However serious parking challenges if you have a car. A really pleasant hotel full of historic character!

Review 59:Limited breakfast selection.

Review 60:Excellent location in the old town and close to the harbour. Comfortable room. Helpful owner who found us car parking nearby.

Review 61:Very nice historical building complex, like stepping back in time, great place, beautifully preserved, charming and with a nice garden for breakfast. friendly staff/owners, and in the middle of the old city - the hotel is itself part of this old historical city, great value for money

Review 62:Nothing I can think of so far...

Review 63:We were very lucky with the weather, hotel, room (number 30) and breakfast were very good (to be recommended). Very charming and perfect for en romantic stay.

Review 64:Bedroom decoration and furniture were in need of an update - bit chipped, ragged and not entirely clean. Bed was far too soft almost like a water bed.

Review 65:Location was perfect. Bathroom fittings looked brand new and kept very clean. Great shower too. The main part of the hotel has a lovely quaint atmosphere and a wonderful central courtyard.

Review 66:The hotel was delightfully located, tastefully furnished and extremely quiet. The breakfast was delicious. It was a perfect base from which to walk in Wallander's footsteps.

Review 67:Bath could be more modern especially for that room rate.

Review 68:Very friendly stuff, although we arrived earlier, check-in was no problem. Very tastefully furnished room with clean bath, romantic interior courtyard, very relaxing ambience. Very good breakfast, perfect location very close to pedestrian area of Ystad.

Review 69:This was not a good experience. Our room (No 41) was so narrow that thedouble bed was placed lengthways in the middle of the room with one sideagainst the wall, and no headboard. There was a very small space betweenit and the other wall to get past it to the seating. The wardrobe wastiny, the bathroom was very small and the shower temperature wasunreliable. In response to our comments the next morning the hoteliergave us a good discount on the room rate, and said they would thinkabout making a bigger room by amalgamating it with the room next door.

Review 70:No complaints except for some rather loud music played in a nearby room one night. But it stopped by 10 pm.

Review 71:Beautiful, old half-timbered building round a central garden courtyard. My room was charmingly decorated, with an excellent en-suite shower. Great comfort. Very good breakfast buffet, warm and cold food, delicious Swedish breads.

Review 72:Decor in bedroom could be improved. Room was very spacious but a bit sparse in terms of furniture eg no full length mirror.

Review 73:Split level room with seating area downstairs. Location. Garden for breakfast and we also picnicked there one evening. Free wifi.

Review 74:no laundry facilities for guests, soap dispenser in bathroom ran out & not refilled

Review 75:staff was great, good location, charming hotel, nice garden, good breakfast

Review 76:Our room was Definitely Not worth £130. We booked it as we thought it wuld be a romantic inn but the room had 2 narrow single beds; a bizarre layout and not very comfortable. If we had paid £70-80 we would have felt it was value for money but it was too much money for wat we got. I think some of the other rooms were lovely though, so maybe we just got the worst one.

Review 77:The garden was lovely. The weather was horrid: coldand rainy. The owner of the hotel let us stay an extra hour in our rooms, which was much appreciated.

Review 78:Missed my scrambled eggs and fruit at the breakfast buffet !?

Review 79:Small, quiet, nice and friendly atmosphere. Rooms high quality in spite of old building.

Review 80:We really liked the Anno 1793 Sekelgården. The staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel was comfortable and very relaxing. The breakfasts were very good: plenty of food, varied and good quality. I would certainly stay there again on a visit to Ystad.

Review 81:A very charming hotel, full of character and with lovely old features.I loved my ground floor front of house room with its beautiful bath in an alcove. The quietness was wonderful .The breakfast was excellent. The service was understated but very hospitable and helpful.I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel and look forward to a return visit. I heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a well situated haven of comfort in Ystad.

Review 82:Hotellet saknade hiss. Receptionen var inte någonsin bemannad, man fick ringa efter dem.

Review 83:Mysigt hotell! Fick rum på bottenvåning trots att den var dyrare än det vi hade betalat för, då vi hade mycket packning och hotellet saknade hiss.

Review 84:If you prefer staying in a chain hotel with modern furnishings andappliances, the Sekelgarden might not be right for you. But ifyou'd like to try staying in an antique hotel, you couldn't find abetter place.

Review 85:As its name implies, the Sekelgarden is a very old hotel. All theoriginal rooms are still there, and the exterior of the building looksmuch the same. Even the manager on duty is is elderly, but with the mostgracious manners, and as sharp as a whip in assisting the guests. The room we stayed in was scrupulously clean and thoughtfully prepared for us, and the beds were as comfortable as one could wish for. A full Swedish breakfast was laid out in the dining room, which we enjoyed with a dozen other Swedish guests.

Review 86:Overpriced hotel. This is the place for those who want to travelbackward in time including low room and service standards.

Review 87:Nice location in the middle of old town

Review 88:We really enjoyed our stay at 1793 Sekelgården. It is a very quaint, historical hotel with a relaxed, charming atmosphere. The location is amazing and perfect for stepping out to see the beautiful town of Ystad. The staff were friendly and helpful - they even kept breakfast out for us when we had slept in a bit late! We would definitely stay again!

Review 89:A quaint hotel, centrally located.

Review 90:Paying in advance was a bit unusual. The building is quite old and some would say run down.

Review 91:Nice and cosy town

Review 92:Location, style, breakfast and comfort/facilities

Review 93:position in town centre but very quiet and peaceful. Pretty and friendly

Review 94:Reception staff not so welcoming. Breakfast just OK.

Review 95:Central location. Olde worlde charm. A bit quirky.

Review 96:Breakfast only one person staff for breakfast, check out.

Review 97:I liked the old city.

Review 98:room was on two levels - but connecting stair had faulty handrail. Had to bend to get in to bed

Review 99:delightful building; good breakfast

Review 100:Everything was ok. Old romantic hotel, with clean stylish rooms.

Review 101:Nothing.

Review 102:Sekelgården offer sheer relaxation set in a small Town street with a generous back garden.

Review 103:no parking

Review 105:Good central location

Review 106:Design & fitting of bath tube

Review 107:Historic building and location

Review 108:not our kind of hotel !

Review 109:the location !

Review 110:Far too old and not a bit charming,

Review 111:The gal from Estonia who did everything.

Review 112:Lovely old building with connectons to Wallander books

Review 113:It was better than we expected for all the reasons listed above. We hopeto return in the not too distant future.

Review 114:Excellent hotel, would totally recommend

Review 115:Friendly helpful staff in peaceful surrounds. Understated elegance.

Review 116:Wifi was not working completely.

Review 117:It is a little bit old, but something is good.

Review 118:quite soft bed, price too high

Review 119:nice sauna, good breakfast and the room was really romantic
