Reviews for Hotel Ugur

Review 1:My only significant problem was not with the hotel, but with the tour Mustafa provided. It includes many other mildly interesting stops in the Adiyaman area, and usually, Nemrut Dagi is the last stop so you get to see it at sunset. However, I didn't get to see Nemrut Dagi at sunset... because Mustafa wanted our driver to take him to the airport (and he wouldn't admit this was the case, he kept blaming the weather, but it was clear and pleasant throughout the day....). Since the airport is almost an hour on the way to Nemrut Dagi, the driver was unwilling to backtrack and do the other stops first, so we were essentially forced into doing it first, in the middle of the day with unpleasant light for photography. This was very disappointing because I had been in touch weeks in advance and was never told about this until the night before the trip, leaving me unable to research other options.

Review 2:For the money, compared to what other hotels cost in Urfa, it was good. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English. The bed was comfortable and the internet worked well, but I was one of few people there in low season. Location is great, right in the heart of Urfa.

Review 3:A very good value for the budget traveler. It was easy to find and located halfway between the old town with the tourist attractions and the bus station to and from the airport.

Review 4:I very much don't like the fact that booking.com charges him so much commission. Also - taxi drivers don't know it.But if you ask for 'Ipek Palace' they do know that place and it's only two doors away.

Review 5:Mustafa is amazing. Not only that -but he remembered me from a shorty visit I made four years earlier.

Review 6:I've stayed there at least 4 times over the past 2 years, and it's the friendliest, cleanest, and most centrally located place in Urfa. The staff are so helpful and friendly, going out of their way to make you feel at home and find your way around the area. Clean rooms, cold AC, and thoughtful touches like plugs with multiple outlets and glasses for drinking. Great breakfast place right outside the door. Parking is easy to find in lots 1-2 blocks away. I'll come back again any time! THANK YOU, WONDERFUL STAFF AT UğUR HOTEL!

Review 7:Mustafa, the man in charge treated me horribly. First they would notlet us touch the air conditioner, then whenever I would ask somethingsimple he would lecture me for about 10 minutes about unrelated things.Out on the terrace he proceeded to tell a Korean guy about Korea, Ithen asked him if he knew more about Korea than the Korean. He was notjoking at all, he then argued about everything and when he left hislife long friends said he was always like that and there is a characterproblem. When I went in to ask about the payment it was once again avery loud drawn lecture on religion and who knows what. As we werelooking at his computer together I went to show him something on myphone, he stood up and walked towards me so I put up my hand as not toget run over. He then slapped my hand away and very angrily told me notto touch him, I stepped back and let him by, he then came back andshoved me. I was totally confused and shocked. I then just left theroom. I think the hotel itself is fine, but I would never support thisman in any business.

Review 8:The beds were nice, the bathroom not. Decent value.

Review 9:very poor standard for very high price (25 Euro =75 turkish Lira for a room with shower/wc cabin inside with additional bad smell effects

Review 10:only strictly central location in the city

Review 11:Shared bathroom with only one shower for entire floor with lukewarm water. This place is OK if you are travelling cheap and the price is low.

Review 12:Location is good.

Review 13:Staff unfriendly, room smelly, not fresh, musty. Communal bathroom alsosmelly and unclean. Not good when paying 40lira. I have been reviewinggood B&B all over Turkey including private bathroom for 50lira.Moved to Aslan Asian guesthouse....superb value.

Review 14:Nothing.....sorry to be so negative, but that is how I feel!

Review 15:Ugur is a 15 minute walk to the main sites. This was not an issue forme. Just be aware.

Review 16:Mustafa and his assistant Ismail are generous and gracious hosts. OtelUgur is a no-frills establishment, however it is safe, very clean andfriendly. Mustafa speaks very good English and provides good sightseeinginformation. He also gives tours to Nemrut Dagi and Harran. (I did nottake a tour with Mustafa, but his two volume guestbook is filled withglowing testimonials.). No breakfast is provided. Directly next to thehotel is a small shop that serves a 10tl breakfast and has a selectionof breads and cookies.I stayed in room 7 which I had as a single (four beds and en suite bathroom). The room was spotless. I'm a 60-something woman traveling alone and I can recommend Ugur.

Review 17:Unfortunately i could not join the trip because there was no one to be with throughout the hotel.

Review 18:while they are to accommodate people, they also have some tours once there are enough members to go.

Review 19:Actually - nothing! Everything was great! The owner truly is a character / he is the uncle that everyone wants to have!!!

Review 20:The trips the hotel offers are amazing!!! The affordability can't be best!

Review 21:We had quite a problem with locating this hotel since the street that is on the webpage does not exist on GPS. After couple of minutes on crazy S.Urfa streets we finally got right directions from nearby kebapci.

Review 22:Hotel is city center just 15 min walking distance from main S-Urfa atriaction – Balikli gol. The room was ok. Not better or worse than other hotels we stayed in Turkey (with terrible exeption of Hasankeyf Motel). For us the most important thing is clean bathroom, fresh sheets, hot water and we got this here. The the money and offer ratio was satisfying.

Review 23:the hotel is located at the second floor of other building, so you should climb the stair to reach the hotel.

Review 24:The location is very closed (walking distance) to almost all the tourist area. parking lot is available across the hotel, very suitable for backpacks! It is located just in the middle of the city. You can eat in the altinsiş kebap just across the street, they're good!

Review 25:Mustafa's brother was very moody. Yelled at me for asking him what exchange rate he uses for Euros to Lira (Booking quoted in euros). Then yelled at me some more for asking for a receipt after I paid in cash (only method of payment). Proclaimed that he is THE boss and he can just use a piece of scrap paper, write down the amount and call it a proper receipt - without name of hotel, date, etc. Guess he got up on the wrong side of the bed.

Review 26:The staff (Ismael) is amazing - very friendly, despite limited ability with English. He's fast, efficient and constantly cleaning something/some place. He made me feel very welcomed. The tour to Gobekli tepe (35 lira) and Mt Nemrut (150 lira) offered by Mustafa left me uncertain if I got my money's worth. As a method of transportation to the locations, it's great. However, if you're looking for info of the sites, bring your Lonely Planet or read up on Wiki beforehand or afterwards. The 8 different stops, lunch & dinner included in the full day tour to Mt Nemrut for 150 lira perhaps is worth it. However, if there's a few of you, check with a taxi driver across the street to see how much it costs to drive out to Gobekli Tepe. Though he is good with waiting and letting you take your time - but be mindful of when dusk falls for Mt Nemrut. He also offers tour to Harran (40 lira) - I took the dolmus instead, it's easy.

Review 27:Night staff speaks good english. Location was good, walking distance to bus stop to airport. Had a good night sleep. Aircond was working well, private bathroom was clean. Towel provided were clean. Very satisfied & highly recommended

Review 28:Water cooler contains chilled tap water and both my husband and I got travellers tummy after drinking it. It may have been something we ate but I recommend drinking bottled water unless you have a strong constitution.

Review 29:Staff we're friendly and helpful, their English was ok. The hostel is modest but well run and clean. The airconditioning in our room was a life saver! Good location, only 15-20 min walk to Abrahams cave and Holy Carp pools.

Review 30:Super helpful staff Impeccably clean rooms Amazing value for money Right on the main street, near buses/dolmuses/shopping/restaurants... but you don't hear traffic noises 10-minutes walk to the Fish Pools, etc. Great places for breakfast and dinner right outside the door. Did I mention the friendly helpful staff?

Review 31:A staff helpful and the patron is very good guide

Review 32:Clean, good location, helpful staff and very cheap

Review 33:The pillows.

Review 34:Friendly host, the hotel atmosphere.

Review 35:Good location, nice and helpful staff, clean room. Manager speaks good English.

Review 36:Central location and Mustafá the manager organice tours to mt. nemrut and is a fantastic tour.

Review 37:airconditioning

Review 38:good location, good price.

Review 39:Expect a back-packer experience and you will be fairly pleased - as the reviews say - quite clean, good linen, comfortable beds.... about a 15 - 20 minute walk to the "Abraham" places so quite doable.

Review 40:Rooms are dormitory-style; our double was a private four bed dorm. The showers for the shared baths are in the same cubicles as the toilets; they were kept very clean but this is an odd layout, even for hostel-style lodging.

Review 41:Very basic, clean, well-tended budget option. English-speaking manager was helpful for planning and arranging day trips.

Review 42:The ablution facilities are basic.

Review 43:To do daytrips from Urfa to Nemrut, Gobekli Tepe and Harran, I will recommend a stay at Ugur Hotel, as these sites are not easily accessible with public transport. The owner, Mustafa, is an excellent tour guide. His tours are value for money. Nemrut day trip: Expect to pay 140 TL pp which includes lunch, dinner and all admission fees - tour is from about 09h00 till 23h00. Gobekli Tepe 30 TL pp Harran 40 TL pp If traveling from Urfa airport there is a bus service called Havas for 10 TL pp to the city centre .(approximately 40 km from city centre). Other staff Adam and Ismail were also very friendly. Mustafa, if you are reading this "God be with you".

Review 44:At some times of the day there was an appalling stench from the bathrooms.

Review 45:The hotel is very centrally sited. Wifi worked reasonably well, and air con was good.

Review 46:The owner and his staff are very kind and friendly people. They organize tours with a fair price and the owner makes sure that you enjoy your stay and visits to the different touristic places.

Review 47:The owner, Mustafa abi, organizes tours to Mt. Nemrut and other places. It was a very good memory for us. The location is central. The staff is hospitable and ready to help!

Review 48:If you're looking for amazing tours and value accomodation then look no further

Review 49:Mustafa,is a great guide,he speaks turkish, arabic, kurdish, farsi and english,so he can cover all culture spectrum in the area, accomodation is rústic, simple and functional yet you'll find everything you need, great value for money,if you want hilton then go hilton

Review 50:Wi-fi didn't work in rooms, but worked fine in the lobby.

Review 51:A very good value for the money, in a good location. The hotel wasclean, the owner Mustapha was excellent and arranged daily tours toplaces like Mt. Nemrut and Gobeklitepe. The largelobby/office/lounge was a pleasant environment to hang out, workon your computer, drink tea and meet fellow travellers.

Review 52:very friendly and helpful staff, excellent location. My 'fair' for facilities only reflects the backpacker status, not anything negative. Spotlessly clean rooms, beds, and bathrooms. Great tours to Gobeklitepe and Nemrut and the other places of interest outsideof sanliurfa organised, drive and guided by Mustafa.

Review 53:Could be a bit noisy from nearby music.

Review 54:I had booked a single room with a shared bathroom, but when I arrived, I was given a single with an en suite bathroom for the same price. Thanks! The sheets were very clean. The location is awesome--super convenient to grab a great breakfast, catch a bus, or head downtown. Drinking water available. Helpful staff.

Review 55:i have a cat. staff no problem for cat. thank you very much. very cheap hotel. in the city center of sanliurfa. my cat (botan) was hapy in this hotel:)

Review 56:Room not so clean - bed linen clean, but carpet filthy. No storage space in room (1 bedside cabinet between 3 beds). Noisy close to stairs and reception - avoid room no.1.

Review 57:Clean bathrooms. 24 hr hot water. Informative and friendly staff.

Review 58:Wifi in the rooms barely worked, even in the common room it is slow (but this is common in Turkey). Some of the rooms are quite small & basic, but reasonable for the price. And don't expect foreign channels on the TV.

Review 59:Extremely helpful staff, the owner even took my sick daughter to a local hospital and got the doctor to treat her for free! Hotel location is good, value is good, free tea & coffee is good, the owner speaks good English and can be hired as your tour guide, etc. Sanliurfa (pronounced "Shan-Loorfa") is really nice to see nearby Gobleki Tepe or Mt Nemrut for a few days.

Review 60:everything is basic, but you got what you've paid for

Review 61:price

Review 62:Not that much given the price
