Reviews for Åkerblads Hotell Gästgiveri Spa
Review 1:The food was not at a level it should be in an establishment like this and needs improvement. Breakfast was included but not really monitored well enough. We stayed for two nights and wanted to have dinner which is ala carte in the main dining room so we booked it. The selection for appetizers were not appealing and the fish we had for the entrée looked like a dead tongue on the plate with brown sauce and was mushy. The dessert with the chocolate fondant and dab of ice cream did not work together either. The second day due to that disappointing experience we decided to find a local alternative for late lunch and early dinner after taking the guided tour in Sundborn at Carl Larsson's home at 11 am. We ended up driving to three different towns to find a cup of coffee after an unappealing meal of pizza-only thing available I the afternoon for an early dinner in the nearby village of Rattvik. Since one must travel out of Tallberg where this very nice historic hotel is located for any meal, and since the hotel has a captured audience with the guests there, they need to review the food and beverage service. It is not good enough. The bartender on the second night made us some very good Irish Coffees but we were disappointed we could not go for another dinner there and had to end up with the nearby pizza in a low quality place nearby with an early dinner option since we knew we could not have the dinner experience we expected at the hotel. We did not mention it to the waiter as he could see we could not eat the entrée, but we talked to the very nice desk clerk about it when checking out.
Review 2:Very nice staff. This is an historic hotel which has a big new investment for a spa area which is first rate and the hotel is a quality place. We had an upgrade to a junior suite and used the pool and sauna. It is in a charming and old historic of part of Sweden, NW of Stockholm so you may drive to it within some hours, and beautiful area with rolling hills, lakes and houses done in the "Falu red" paint color which still comes from the Falun mine not far away. Indeed, do not miss this historic mine guided tour which is part of UNESCO and a World Heritage site since 1992-this tour one will remember for a life time easily. Also take the time to go to Sundborn to see Carl Larsson's family home-well known Swedish artist and take the guided tour there. There is a very nice walk just to the back of the hotel with displays of flowers and info about local animals, flora, etc. and then one can take the ski trail to walk to the lake area and back to the hotel on the roadway. We loved the fireplaces and it was autumn will sunny days and chilly nights, so very nice touch to keep the various fireplaces going around the clock and use of candles in the public areas as well. It was off season so a good time to stay there and not as fully staffed as in high season.
Review 3:At other spa hotels it's usually slippers in the room, but we only had bathrobes. If I would suggest improvement, I would say, put slippers in the rooms to use to the spa. Otherwise I don't have any complaints. Will probably visit again.
Review 4:The spa is great. Also food was good.
Review 5:One evening dinner the head waiter seemed not wanting to be bothered by diners. Not a pleasant meal despite good food.
Review 6:We enjoyed a traditional family-run resort hotel in a beautiful district of Sweden.
Review 7:What a great location and combined with the service and restaurant we were totally impressed. We walked around the small village for over an hour and had the sun not set so soon...11 p.m.!! we would have walked some more. Great place.
Review 8:I didn't like the traffic noise and building works and the mowers. How about a mow bott?
Review 9:I really enjoyed sitting in the lounge having a drink with my husband. Nice comfy chairs.
Review 10:If you like charm, comfort, fabulous food, lovely staff, and a perfect blending of rich heritage and modern conveniences, then Akerblads is the place for you! We won't stay anywhere else!
Review 11:What is so horrifying with some silence? Please skip the piano player in the restaurant and give people some piece... Also, skip the loud music at breakfast...
Review 12:The menue was rather "meagre" for a Sunday night dinner. Two entrees and three main courses - and they were rather expensive too! No value for money
Review 13:All ow it
Review 14:Junior suite on the small side. The hotel has many rooms so can feel a little impersonal.
Review 15:Beautiful location. Great amenities.
Review 16:Got the room for having a dog which is usually is not the nicest room. The food was pricey.
Review 17:The spa, the location and the charm
Review 18:Everything
Review 19:The whole ombience of the hotel and area was superb.
Review 20:No airconditioning.
Review 21:Nice location, excellent breakfast, good parking.
Review 22:Restraunt is disappointment. Main course is minimum 30 euro, which absolutely doesn't worth the money.
Review 23:Location, nice environment.
Review 24:wonderful service, great food, charming.
Review 25:Spent one night in this lovely Swedish Inn. Our room was cozy and beautifully decorated.
Review 26:Ingen
Review 27:The off the menu salad the chef made us - and the fact that he did it. Spa and gym area is really nice and clean
Review 28:Outstanding restaurant, great spa facilities, capable and friendly staff. Breakfast buffet excellent.
Review 29:Very basic breakfast. Not 4 star level
Review 30:The SPA is really good.
Review 31:Dålig frukost, ej påfyllt o magert utbud
Review 32:In particular the sauna and the Gym
Review 33:My room was tiny and very noisy
Review 34:The town was pretty and interesting. The food was good.
Review 35:Friendly staff, free room upgrade, beautiful hotel, great food.
Review 36:the prices in the restaurant
Review 37:location style - carefully restored family hotel atmosphere
Review 38:Food at hotel restaurant is ridiculously overpriced and the menu is very limited. Only vegetarian option was a chanterelle risotto, which didn't have a single chanterelle in it. Our main course was a bowl of rice and it cost 300SEK! After ordering our vegetarian main course, we got a pre-starter, which was a sausage. No one suggested another option, or asked if we'd preferred one. Desserts were tiny and overpriced too. We had booked a Minisuite with bath tub. The bath was dirty and the room was certainly not suite size or standard by any means. Too crowded with furniture. Also poor sound-proofing since next door customer woke us coughing and we could hear it loud and clear... This was our 3rd visit but it will probably be our last. The standard has definitely gone down from previous years!
Review 39:Stayed here for the 3rd time and have always enjoyed the atmosphere. Comfortable beds, nice staff. Lovely pool area, although tends to get rather crowded with children running around. Nice breakfast, although less options to choose from compared to our previous visits.
Review 40:Restaurant had limited menu (2 to choose) and was extremely expensive. Also I was a table for one and mid meal they seated a table for 6 right beside me when there were other empty tables available.
Review 41:Hotel is decorated with antiques and has feel of old hotel. Lots of seating areas. Did paperwork by a fire while looking at snow coming down outside. Rooms are not giant but Charm galore.
Review 42:The beautiful location, the calm, the friendliness of the staff, the open fire places, the feeling of "home from home", the food, the spa...
Review 43:We were there when the season was just slowing down so many of the amenities were not available to us. They closed their restaurant without notice which was a real drag. We also had to check ourselves in late by ourselves. There was supposed to be a staff member in the dining room to give us our key however no one was to be found - so we rummaged around their kitchen and found the envelop with my name on it...we paid a lot to stay there and hardly saw any staff working.
Review 44:Very nice room and very comfortable beds! The setting is beautiful - I'm surprised there weren't more people there considering the fall leaves looked beautiful!
Review 45:We stayed in an outbuilding. No charm for the price. Room was small and disappointing. Dinner meal was very small portion and very expensive. We were here seven years ago and had a better experience. Won't be back!
Review 46:Artwork and antique loghouse atmosphere of main building. Breakfast was good.
Review 47:Miserable non attentive staff Poor Restaurant Frozen food Price of food Poor service attitude of staff
Review 48:Location Hotel style of buildings Gym and spa
Review 49:The restaurant - no one to show you to your table without a wait, service of main course very slow - it took an hour - and was fairly average, lack of choice - two choices for starter and main course, no choice for dessert. Very expensive for what was on offer.
Review 50:I liked the traditional decoration of the hotel and the comfortable bedroom.
Review 51:The bathroom in the mini suite was a bit dated and would needrefurbishment. We were also put in two rooms that were in the oppositeends of the hotel despite travelling with children.
Review 52:Wonderful setting and a very charming hotel. Nice with a spa and pool onthe premises.
Review 53:Ersatz Dalarna for rich Stockholm visitors. Small spa, with very small swimming pool. Restaurant service indifferent, with long waits to be seated and served on the first day (very busy). Food uninteresting and in tiny quantities. Expensive. Small mini-suite with uncomfortable sofa bed for the children. Reception did not know if our room was ready although we arrived after 1500h.
Review 54:Situated near Siljan, with pleasant walks in the area.
Review 55:Food in the restaurant - there was no starter for vegetarians on the menu, and only 1 choice for vegetarians on the main course.
Review 56:It was calm and a romantic hotel. Honey for the soul :))
Review 57:The single room I stayed in was a bit run down and in need of anoverhaul. How about a power outlet for charging a mobile or laptopwithin reach? The desk which was around as promised could not be usedfor work as it was impossible to sit on the chair and put your legsunter it - something I had expected as a business traveller.
Review 58:Excellent service, a first class restaurant with excellent dishes worthtrying, beautiful setting of wonderful old premises
Review 59:Bathroom was very small. Room furniture and clothes could be restyled. Restaurant is quite expensive.
Review 60:The hotel has a nice concept being composed of several small houses. The location is wonderful . Our room /house was nice however the bathroom was very small.
Review 61:Indoor pool area has bad smell and is small. You have to pay for the jacuzzi.I had the minisuite which was not worth it. The bathroom had the best times long time ago. There were expired drinks in the Minibar!!! All in all much too expensive. The whirlpool in the Minisuite had nailpolish on the ground. Room was dusty and terrace not cleaned for month. The claim made at the reception was for nothing as it had to made twice before they fixed it. Hotel is much to overpriced.
Review 62:The gym is well equiped. Equipment of high standard. Spa seems to be very new and modern. Breakfast is ok but nothing special. The dinner at the restaurant was very good ans service at the restaurant was top.
Review 63:Lack of choice for evening meal especially the option for fish insteadof meat. First room offered did not compare to the image given on thewebsite for that level of room.
Review 64:Relaxed atmosphere. Very comfortable lounge. Very good gym. Receptionwere obliging when we wanted a better room.
Review 65:Old bathroom, no water pressure in shower. Not very good value for the money.
Review 66:We booked the mini suite and it was located in a small cabin 200m from the main hotel building. The room was good size, with a kingsize bed and bathroom with shower. The bathroom looked a bit old and the toilet seat was not properly atteched to the floor. The shower had absolutely no water pressure. So the bathroom was very disappointing for the price of the room, nearly 2000 sek. If you have difficulties in moving around, you should request a room a the main building. Breakfast is good and have a lot to choose from as fresh orange juice, smoked salmon, eggs and bacon. Tällberg is located approx 10km from Leksand where you can find a small city centre, a shopping mall, and some resturants. In Tällberg all the hotels have resturants, but most of them are quite expensive. Overall we had a nice stay.
Review 67:Tennis court, rackets and balls need looking at. Not worth the rental charge as is.
Review 68:Great atmosphere and positive vibe to the personnel and hotel.
Review 69:very cosy with fireplaces, nostalgic and antique furniture and lovely hidden places. feeling of great family tradition.
Review 70:the room, #7, was lovely- wonderful panaoramic views, tasteful interior decoration, quiet and peaceful.
Review 71:Surroundings Location Room Breakfast Dinner
Review 72:The hotel was fantastic. I recommend it for romantic , calm holidays near the nature. The decoration of the rooms and the entire hotel was splendid.
Review 73:Pool, spa, sauna area closed at 7pm. Would have been nice to use in evening after dinner but it was closed.
Review 74:Lovely location.
Review 75:Beautiful area. Nice facilities. Comfortable sitting area, great breakfast.
Review 76:all was good
Review 77:The room is too small.
Review 78:Equipments in fitness room are new, advanced, well-maintained.
Review 79:Probably can't find this place without a gps,
Review 80:A lovely relaxing location with a beautiful junior suite
Review 81:Serenity of a beautiful location.
