Reviews for Sun Burst Inn
Review 1:I moved from room number 15 to 19 thinking 19 is beach view. It costed me 60$ extra. Not worth it. 140$ for room number 15 is the good price. but adding 60$ for 19 is the bad deal I got. I booked online so I had no idea about how the beach view room would look like. We were 4 adults and 1 kid. The washroom was the main problem during our stay. We let the owner knew. She is very active and nice. She was quick in all the responses we expected. I am sure she will do the things necessary. I just wish I had not moved from 15 to 19 and wasting 60$.
Review 2:Location is just perfect. Beach is right there. Umbrella and other stuff available for free.
Review 3:The rooms need to be remodeled. Door doesn't close-holes in plaster in bathroom- would not do an extended stay there.
Review 4:Great cooperative staff and excellent location
Review 5:Only change I would suggest is that the towels are getting a little worn and could use an upgrade.
Review 6:Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Can't beat the location. Although parking can be a bit of a challenge when there is a full house, staff made sure we had a safe and close place to park.
Review 7:We paid extra for a stove in the room but the stove was ancient so we didn't end up using it.
Review 8:The close proximity to some local places - bars, restaurants and coffee shops. The beach is directly behind the establishment.
Review 9:The motorcycle bar across the street gets noisy when they're all leaving late on the weekends. Remember your earplugs if you're a light sleeper.?
Review 10:My friends from Germany and I were fortunate enough to stay in the penthouse. What a treat! Clean, modern, beautiful views from TWO balconies. The beds are soft, medium and hard, so pick carefully Goldilocks! ?
Review 11:Parking was a bit tight, but due to the lot size, prob can't do much about that. Not a problem tho.
Review 12:Took a walk on the beach and accidentally lost my room key. Office was closed, but owner drove out immediately and replaced the key and was friendly and easy about the whole situation.
Review 13:Not a thing! Staff and accommodations were just perfect!
Review 14:The room was beautifully decorated and comfortable. It was quiet and serene. The most perfect place to rest and recharge.
Review 15:Room 17 is not and was not as pictured in adverstisement/website. Travelled with a 6 year old and picture depicts bedding for 2 adults and 1 child. Was a dirty flip out couch with no bedding No kitchenette as advertised. Disgustingly dirty hotplate located in a drawer and filthy cutlery (none used). Soap in bath was used, unmerited garbage held soap wrapper told in freezer and door interior with boot prints ons ame.
Review 16:Beach location was as advertised
Review 17:The A/C unit needed to be cleaned out thoroughly and was never done. The mold & mildew smell was very difficult to deal with. Couldn't get a room change since there were no vacancies, so we didn't use the A/C. The office was only open 10a-2p. Parking by permit could not be enforced at night since parking is undesignated 1 space per room.
Review 18:Loved the location! Convenience & access was great. Staff were terrific. Cute inn with private beach access was perfect.
Review 19:Room was small. Air conditioner was up so high that I had to stand on a chair to adjust the temperature.
Review 20:Location - right on the beach! Also, they had beach umbrellas for us to use free of charge. The price was good for being on the beach.
Review 21:The hotel had major osmosis & was in need of lots of upgrades & fixes. Water poured out of handles if shower & shower was disgusting. Not a whole bunch for money but beach!
Review 22:A beautiful spot on ocean wonderful beach but restaurants were not close unless u had a car.
Review 23:After 3, they put no vacancy sign up and just closed office and left. We had no toilet paper or soap and there was no way to reach to them. Also bed sheets had a distinct smell, kept us awake all night. Also door didn't close properly but there was nobody to report to.
Review 24:no manager or anyone on duty, calling the office just gets voicemail. We wanted to stay an extra night and left a voicemail shortly after check in but no one ever called us back, not even by check out the next day.
Review 25:Cute place, was cleaner then I expected. Was right on Beach and had showers for the sand and plenty of chairs. Private beach. Bonfire. Location was good. Some things in walking distance.
Review 26:The location is outstanding! The staff were great and we will definitely stay again. We enjoyed our stay tremendously! It's an older property but well cared for. If you love the beach and want to relax on the beach, this is the place! Want to grill on the deck you can do that to!
Review 27:We could not stay longer.
Review 28:Used to live in area for Twenty years. Love the real beach ambiance. Not some tourist farm. Across from Mauhoffers the best old school beach bar. Don't expect Trump Towers. Do expect a great stay on the Gulf.
Review 29:We were advised upon arrival to expect a smell in our room from pest control. We had not only a smell but also German Cockroaches, all sizes, that we could not keep out of our food. We paid for the room with the full kitchen and showed up with groceries. Everything had to be kept in the fridge and anything left on the counter for 5 mins drew multiple tiny roaches.
Review 30:The beach was beautiful, not crowded with people and full of wildlife. The chairs and umbrellas made for easy time at the water's edge.
Review 31:Room was a little to small. It states that 4 can fix, but truly 2 was more than enough for the small room
Review 32:My wife and I stay with our dog for a couple of days. the staff was very friendly and helpful. the location to the beach was super. The room was clean and enough space for us. A little outdate facility, I think they are under new management and trying to update. Recommend if you are just interested in staying close to the beach and not looking for 4 star motel (luxury)
Review 33:Great for a short stay but would be challenging for my family of 6 to stay linger than 3 days.
Review 34:I love the cool beach shack look. It's a fun place for a getaway with a beautiful view of the Gulf! The staff is small and they are very friendly.
Review 35:Back burner on stove created a small fire shortly after it was turned on..so we didn't use it. Couldn't connect to wifi, air conditioners do not dehumidify well
Review 36:Elise and her husband very helpful, made the stay great!! The view, the beach and water, the deck, the palms are worth their weight in gold for the shade, pet friendly, breeze blowing through, shady place under decking!family
Review 37:kitchen amenities - looked like whatever anyone had left behind, and not enough of anything. 1 fork, 1 chipped coffee mug, etc. We brought disposables of everything, so it didn't affect us, but it may compromise others who don't "overplan."
Review 38:Mom and pop casual. Pet friendly.
Review 39:Very close to a Biker Bar,no way to walk the Pet ,some guests don't have a clue for good manners, blocking the stair ways like a camping mob
Review 40:We upgraded to the Pent House and we're glad we did.
Review 41:Water ran a long time before it got hot. We used it to water plants outside but it seems a waste of water when it hadn't rained for eight weeks. Outside at the back was a bit scruffy and needed cleaning up a bit.
Review 42:didn't bring a pet but liked that it was pet friendly Room was nice, had everything we wanted Closeness to the water and beach was perfect and able to walk in both directions. Also convenience of a bus (jolly trolley) was good and we used it one day. The manageress Amy was helpful with suggestions about where to find stuff.
Review 43:Found some hair in the shower drain when we first got there.
Review 44:the staff was great! The location was beautiful. walk to great coffee place. Interesting bar across the street.
Review 45:The surrounding areas/homes were boarded up and still had people in and out of it all night. Was not a good night sleep
Review 46:The room itself was very clean and the bed was brand new.
Review 47:Except for one afternoon, the WIFI was too weak to play video games in the room. Sometimes could not get a signal at all. My son said it was important to let the gamers know. Need some hooks in the room.
Review 48:Having the beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas available was great.
Review 49:Could be more clean windowsill very dusty etc was basically clean . But needed a deep going over .
Review 50:The owner was friendly , tried to accommodate our every need . BeAutiful location and beach right out the door!
Review 51:Definitely a winner. This place is a hidden gem. It is a small place compared to the other hotels on the beach, but if your intention is to play on the beach and not sit in a pool, this is the place. The rooms are decent and clean. Great for small families. This is not a spring break party location.
Review 52:The wifi was spotty. Did not work in the room. You must drive to find convenience stores for supplies.
Review 53:The location to the beach was great. The rooms were as expected, good but not great. The owners and staff were very nice.
Review 54:somewhat disappointed with space and cooking facilities, no real place to sit and eat but made do.
Review 55:Friendlyness, easy acces, close to beach, coffee shop across the street and the entertainment on the Friday night, Blues and bluegrass.
Review 56:Limited housekeeping - but good tradeoff for low rates.
Review 57:What staying on the Gulf Shore in Florida was like in past years before the high rises took over.
Review 58:Cramped quarters, noisy air conditioner.
Review 59:Literally on the best walking beach we encountered in Florida, fresh, clean room, walking distance to dining and some local amenities. Pleasant fellow guests.
Review 60:The inn location was great. We had room 12 which is located right on the road and the bar across the street has live entertainment every night until at least midnight so going to bed early was not an option.
Review 61:sunburnt inn has a great location and good value
Review 62:The manager was aggressive and needs to learn that customer is always right. Unit 17 is less than 200 sq.ft minus bed and furniture leaving 50 sq.ft No windows and very depressing. Other people that used this room felt the exact same way.
Review 63:The beach was fantastic. Some of the other guests were also very friendly. We stayed upstairs for 3 nights and this unit was nice.
Review 64:Bathroom small didn't feel clean. Towels didn't feel fresh. No daily housekeeping. Emptied my own trash I won't stay there again.
Review 65:Location best. Room felt dirty. I was not comfortable in the room.
Review 66:No heater in room. We had a couple of chilly nights. The bed was new and clean and plenty of quilts, though. Parking is crazy cramped. Wish I could buy this property and make it wonderful.
Review 67:The location was just what we needed for a couple of days
Review 68:You can get twice as large lodging for half the price if you pick a place across the street from the beach.
Review 69:The guests shared a fire ring on the beach side of the building in the evening
Review 70:It's very old place, old furniture. My room was very small and rest room door can not be closed entirely. The room was stuffed with a refrigerator, tv and otherthings that made it very narrow. In sum, i don't think this place should charge more than $60 per night
Review 71:Beach is very near
Review 72:Needs an update, kitchen & bathroom are outdated, but I would go back. The staff & location make up for any downfalls.
Review 73:I love the fact that it is Right on the beach. The staff were so helpful with everything.
Review 74:We had no housekeeping services at all. They did not clean nor straighten the room, and we did not get fresh towels. Might have been inclined to leave a tip in the tip envelope if we had been given services. Why should we tip when they didn't do anything?
Review 75:Location was perfect. Room was cute and I loved the beachy theme.
Review 76:The "low" score for Staff and Kitchen, due to not really meeting any of the staff, except at check-in. Kitchen we did not use, so cannot comment on. Quality of sleep was poor because of a couple fighting and carrying on right outside our window at 1 AM and neighboring room had TV on all through the night. No property manager on site.
Review 77:Beach. The property had a late fifties, early sixties appeal. The way I remember growing up as a child on Indian Rocks Beach.
Review 78:We booked our stay online, stating that we would have ocean front view. Got a call on the day we were to arrive, saying it wasn't, and for 10.00 more a night we could have ocean front. We got there, our room was downstairs facing the ocean, but in front of our window was the staircase to go upstairs. Also the window was not even openable to hear the ocean, let alone see it. Not happy!!!
Review 79:The room was not so clean, some parts are rusty. The bed was terrible and the room was to small for 2 adults with 1 child.
Review 80:In front of the beach, very nice!
Review 81:Constant smoking by residents; rough crowd. Room air conditioner highly noisy. Bed extremely uncomfortable.
Review 82:Convenient location in Indian Shores...wide beach area. Porch area has plenty of chaise lounges and umbrellas. Staff made an advanced call to tell us bridge near there was out.
Review 83:Our room had an old and noisy air conditioner and was in the bedroom blowing directly on you.
Review 84:Staff was very friendly and made us very welcome. They would do anything to accommodate you. We enjoyed our stay and would go back.
Review 85:the Sunburst in was very quiet the staff was excellent the beach was excellent the room which was unit 15 was gorgeous I can't wait to go back and spend a couple more days there can get away from the hustle and bustle of the world.
Review 86:wifi connection was pretty hit and miss for me. no dry covered place to sit outside when it rained daily. I wanted to be outside not in my room w/o a view. limited and tight parking
Review 87:great staff! Everyone was friendly and so helpful. great low key feel to place! quiet and safe environment!! loved being right on beach and even though I did not bring my pet, like that it is pet friendly. thanks for the great stay
Review 88:The room had an odor the first day/night that seemed to disappear as the days went on. Couldn't quite figure it out.
Review 89:The location right on the beach was great. The room was quiet. Running the a/c helped with any noise from the road. Very close to a great coffee shop, Indian Shores Coffee. The beach is great for walking. Hard sand and fairly level.
Review 90:A few areas of the room were overlooked when cleaning. Staff apologized profusely for the oversight. Guests arguing at 4:30 am in the breezeway. ... nothing much the inn can do about that.
Review 91:Grounds were beautiful! Staff was friendly. Walking distance to many things. Pet friendly.
Review 92:sleeper sofa dirty and mechanism for opening was broken hard to set up very dirty floor underneath. Staff not helpful needed wine glasses were told there was 2 in room there was not no help to get us any.Totally disgusting garbage pails outside our door.Wifi password did not work despite 3 attempts in office. Glad we were gone the next morning.NOT RECOMMENDED
Review 93:Parking was real tight but I don't think that can be changed
Review 94:I loved the old Florida charm, comfort and cleanliness. The staff were super friendly!! Perfect place for a weekend getaway. We would stay again!
Review 95:The rolling eyes and grumpy tone of the staff when I went in to the office to ask questions. The owners were lovely, the people working for them were a bit grumpy...but it wasn't something that would deter me from staying there. Everything else was great.
Review 96:The location, room and the cute couple that owned the hotel, were all fantastic. Absolutely loved the place, and could not believe how gorgeous the Gulf is...the colors, and the warmth and calmness of the water were stunning. They let us bring a dog for a one time $25 fee (which is awesome), and there was a great coffee shop right across the street that has almond milk, so that was a plus in my book.
Review 97:They need more parking area , we scraped the driver side of the rental van on a post trying to back out as the car next to us was in our space partialy and it made it very difficult to get out which caused the problem --along with having to back out into traffic.
Review 98:The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. They treated us like family. You could not meet any nicer people than the owners and staff. Quaint place that was literally steps to the beach!
Review 99:Parking was a bit tight but you are able to park right across the street.
Review 100:The views were amazing. My room was so cheery and very clean. The towels were SOFT :)
Review 101:The fold away sofa bed in the living room was terribly uncomfortable. I'm sure it wouldn't phase a 20 year old, but I'm 65 and it hurt.
Review 102:Proximity to the beach was great and the beach was great. Everyone we met there, guests and staff, were friendly. There were plenty of beach toys for the kids and beach chairs and umbrellas as well. The unit we were in was clean.
Review 103:I really thought the kitchen areas in both rooms would have been cleaner. The drawer and cabinet where utensils, and cooking pans were kept were visibly dirty as was the drawers of the dresser. The shower curtain was moldy on bottom. Towels were limited so really needed your own beach towels.
Review 104:We loved the location and the wonderful privacy of the beach. We really appreciated the free use of beach chairs and umbrellas. Also there were plenty of sand and water toys/rafts. The air conditioning worked great. The beds felt very clean. There was a quiet calm atmosphere especially at night.
Review 105:parking space was minimal.
Review 106:So close to the beach! Plenty of beach chairs! Great value for the price. Not the Hilton, but neat and clean with every thing you need for your stay at a great location. Free Wi Fi! You can have visitors which is a plus. I don't travel with my pets but for those who do this motel is pet friendly.
Review 107:A/C was cold but a little noisy.
Review 108:Comfortable clean Inn rite on the beach. Not many of these old Florida mom and pop joints left. Wife and I enjoyed are stay and the cosey amenities.
Review 109:Mattresses are somewhat soft Noise from the street occasionally
Review 110:Location is superb on a very nice beach Nice facilities including beach chairs, umbrellas, grill Employees/owners are very helpful
Review 111:Staff was excellent and room was fantastic! No complaints. Go to Friendly's for karaoke.
Review 112:Noisy Not very clean Bad bed
Review 113:On the beach
Review 114:I love this little neighborhood gem! Great location, friendly service make this budget hotel my favorite place to stay in Indian Rocks Beach!
Review 115:Friendly staff, great location on the beach, comfortable bed, kitchen facilities (although we didn't use them).
Review 116:We enjoyed the beach being right out of your door. Very quiet beach area.
Review 117:The back staircase was a little scary because it is so close to the door. and a little steep
Review 118:on the beach. good access
Review 119:Clean and right on beautiful beach, just step out your door!
Review 120:cant take pets on beach
Review 121:loved my room and the back outdoor patio and grill area
Review 122:Wifi would not connect. Staff was not always on the property.
Review 123:Best location for the price. Right on the beach
Review 124:The Fire Pit and friendliness of employees
Review 125:The shower was just ok
Review 126:Location was very nice
Review 127:For suite, I felt it was a bit small.
Review 128:Ocean front room.
