Reviews for Mvuradona Safari Lodge

Review 1:We had a great stay at Mvuradona, Dimi was an amazing host, he welcomed us with a smile on his face and was always ready to help us out whenever needed. Dimi organised our 2 safaris and on the all day safari our guide Sandra was able to show us the big 5 in only 1 day ( very unusual tho), definitely recommend safari with them. The room was great, the highlight for me was the bathtub, always clean and ice cold aircon. Location was handy about 15 to 20 min drive to crocodile bridge gate and we felt very safe. Dimi also organised a special dinner for me and my partner on our 5th anniversary with champagne out of cost. On xmas breakfast he also organised a champagne breakfast, very thoughtful and delicious. It was very nice coming back from our tours and jumping in the pool to cool down and from the pool we could see impalas and giraffes walking around the pool. The only down side was the internet which was a bit slow ( but i suppose in the middle of nowhere is hard to get fast internet) and there is room for improvement for food but it was really good specially compared to the restaurant options around the area.

Review 2:Very outdated, not clean. Too many small issues (drinks well over the best before date, swimmingpool dirty, etc.). Too expensive for what get compareerden to all the other resorts we have steen in SA)

Review 3:very friendly staff

Review 4:A bit difficult to find, not well indicated

Review 5:kindness of the people, such a beautiful white house still in the Kruger atmosphere, bush and antelopes are typical of this place, good food

Review 6:WiFi did not work in room so I had to make calls from lobby which was not very private. Transportation company they contracted with was 20 minutes late picking us up for both safari and airport so future guests should book transportation earlier than needed.

Review 7:We loved our stay and the perfect, friendly service by Dumi and his team. The rooms were beautifully appointed with a safari feel, spacious, clean and comfortable. Food was excellent and creative. They took care of arranging safari and activities.

Review 8:Close to Crocodile Bridge gate. Place is quiet, relaxing and with great visibility to Kruger park. Staff always willing to help with games, transfer, etc

Review 9:My main criticism is that it lacked atmosphere and the direction of any owner's presence. When we arrived it felt deserted and not welcoming. Duni was busy with other guests, so it ended up with no one telling us times for food, excursion possibilities, etc, we were just shown our room by one of the girls. We have travelled around SA for 4 weeks and found that everywhere we have stayed the owners have always been very welcoming, friendly and helpful, full of ides of where to visit and asking how your day had gone - this was missing from Mvuradona. I am surprised that other reviewers have not picked up on this. There were small things and attention to detail that were lacking for me. It was a nice place to stay, and I think it wouldn't take much to be a special place, but it just needs the personal touch, the presence of someone who cares about it and giving customers that special experience, rather than leaving the general day to day running to local staff.

Review 10:This was in a fantastic location, overlooking Crocodile river, where you could lounge in the afternoon and watch elephants, giraffes, etc across the river in Kruger park. We even had 4 zebras drinking at our waterhole on our last morning before breakfast. It is also only 20 minute drive to nearest Kruger entrance gate. The luxury bush suites were lovely, a nice size and tastefully decorated with a large oval bath and double sinks, with candles to provide atmosphere, plus complementary sherry! It had a well stocked honesty bar and a good breakfast, plus a basic but tasty 3 course meal for dinner. The staff, Dumi and the girls were very friendly and attentive. Considering their out of the way location, Duni tried very hard to accommodate my wheat intolerance, providing me with gluten free pancakes and chocolate brownies!

Review 11:Very clean and comfortable room, delicious meal. Dumi is the best staff to provide excellent service that we never forgot. Wonderful experience in South Africa Safari.

Review 12:The service mentality of the staff is just amazing - nothing is impossible - we arrived late one day and dinner was waiting for us at 9 pm, the other day with young kids we had an early dinner and they advanced it. Great attention for detail, helpful staff in every aspect!

Review 13:Nothing

Review 14:Everything, the location, design, staff, activities such as safari drives. Our first safari and couldn't have wished for anywhere better, also amazing value for money. We loved Mvuradona and the whole experience was special, thanks to everyone at the lodge.

Review 15:If you arrive to late (in the night), it's a quite difficult to find the lodge, but as soon as you do the path once, it is perfectly easy to do it again!

Review 16:Exceptional enviroment! Fantastic staff! Adorable room!

Review 17:Just a minor thing, they should share at breakfast the fix menu for the dinner and ask if that would be OK. And propose at least one option if that would not be the case (e.g. veg)

Review 18:All was great! We had our own bungalow that was super-nice and clean. One morning we woke up with two giraffes in the garden... Amazing. It is 20 mins drive from Kruger Crocodile Bridge entrance

Review 19:Wi-fi signal inside my room was poor. But just go out and its ok.

Review 20:Amazing Lodge, everything is perfect, the staff (specially Dumi), the food, the beverage, the scheduled tours, the friendly people everywhere.

Review 21:The food was excellent with great facilities that resembles that of a 5 star hotel. With lions roaring each night and elephants and hippos that can be heard and seen from the lodge I will definetly be visiting again

Review 22:Sadly I got stung by a scorpion in the room, but the staff were very helpful and careing.

Review 23:Position on Crocodile river was amazing. There was even a small buck sleeping in the grounds. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was amazing and very plentiful. Great place to stay.

Review 24:Staff were friendly, catered for vegetarians, we only stayed one night and arrived after dark and left before it was light so can't really comment on the facilities and location to much or value for money. Appeared to have residential property as neighbours which is not a bad thing

Review 25:Nothing. As a curiosum, the "we are here" dot on the map in the reception is misplaced ;-)

Review 26:Highly recommended. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the lodge. Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent food, and enjoyable company with fellow visitors at the outside open fiire after dinner. Crocodile Gate is only a 15 min drive, and the staff has close connectons with an excellent safari guide, in case one wants to complement private tours in the park.

Review 27:It was a little hard to find after dark ... a few signs would help

Review 28:Only 15 minutes drive from Crocodile Bridge gate, the meals were excellent & the deck is a great place to sit and have a few drinks around a fire ...

Review 29:To say goodbye

Review 30:Friendliness of all the staff. They all make a special effort to make all the guests feel at home. Visted three different lodges during the past two weeks and they are head and shoulder above the other similar lodges. Value for money without any doubt.

Review 31:Our family stayed for 2 wonderful nights in the honeymoon suite. We found the room and facilities clean and beautiful. Within an hour of checking in, we took a walk along the river and saw giraffes, hippos and elephants. We had the full board option, and all meals were excellent. They even prepared special meals for our 2 year old twins. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and ensure that we were having a great time. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 32:The price of drink, and the accebilty of the Wi Fi.

Review 33:Dumi the chef/waiter/host. He was such a nice guy would is a great cook and will go the extra mile but won't go over the top and get in the way. He makes the experience even more special. He makes the place.

Review 34:A very nice place by the crocodile river, just across from Kruger national park. Had I known about Marloth Park before, I would not have bothered staying in San Park accommodoation. This is a much nicer place, close enough to Kruger Crocodile Bridge gate to go for a day/morning/afternoon drive... I loved the walk by the river - you may see giraffes, warthogs, impalas, kudus, zebras very close by... and hippos, buffalo, elephansts (even lions) on the other side of the fence. The lodge is lovely, staff friendly, food good, wine reasonably priced. Overall, a great place to stay. (especially if you don't want to pay for the private game lodges in Sabi Sand, but want a bit of luxury)

Review 35:We were very well looked after and if you have time, do the activities, too! We even wanted to have one last quad bike tour on the day we left. In Kruger we saw everything except the leopard - they seem to be quite shy. To see the animals, the night safari is a good opportunity as most animals come out in cool weather. The full day safari was also very informative. Otherwise we just drove around which was very entertaining, too.

Review 36:Food is good but rather simple. Should they prepare typical african meals to make it perfect.

Review 37:Staff, location close to Crocodrile River. we can see several animals around and the activities programmed in Kruger Park were excelent

Review 38:Our host Dumi really went out of his way to make our 5th wedding anniversary special- private table beside the campfire in the boma with flowers, hearts and candles on oour table with champagne! It felt like our honeymoon all over again! The room (honeymoon suite) was also fabulous.

Review 39:Instant coffee at breakfast is a disappointment. Coffee plungers with good quality coffee would make a big difference at a small cost to us coffee lovers!

Review 40:5 star service from Dumi at the lodge and Susan at reservations. They went out of their way to accommodate our activity requests and were super helpful.

Review 41:there is nothing we did not like!

Review 42:that we did not have to spend hours in a car driving around Kruger to find animals. They came to us while we were sitting on a comfy bench just 100 yards form the lodge! And we liked Dumi who looks after the guests in a nicest and most discreet manner. breakfasts are to kill for!

Review 43:weak internet and mobile signals.

Review 44:we loved the service of the staff and their availability at all times. We had a fantastic time staying at the Mvuradona lodge.

Review 45:Very friendly staff who takes good care of the needs of the guests. For example, a huge picnic basket was provided free of charge for our night safari in the Kruger Park. The rooms have been recently renovated and are very nice. The location right on the Crocodile River allows wildlife viewing (with binoculars) from the terrace of the lodge.

Review 46:The dinner took too long to be served and the internet connection was not good in the room.

Review 47:The surrounding area of the lodge is great and it is possible to go for a long walk and see a lot of different animals! We really liked the room, it was very comfortable and the decoration was really cosy.

Review 48:there was nothing.

Review 49:our stay in the lodge was beautyfull, the animals came near to the pool. the servicestaff was very friendly and helpfull. it was a Great stay.

Review 50:The lodge is situated on the Crocodile River and from the patio you can see the wild animals coming to the river to drink. Beside this the hospitality and easygoing friendliness of Domi, the lodge manager, made my stay perfect.

Review 51:The staff were welcoming and the lodge is kept beautifully. Our room was spotless and the lounge furnished with care, an Out Of Africa feel. Managed to see a lot of game across the river without leaving the complex. Some of the roads are quite rough so be careful if your car has low suspension. Unfortunately the quality of the food was poor but notwithstanding this we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the lodge, hope to return one day.

Review 52:You have to book activities far in advance or you are not going to get to participate in one. I ended up just driving my car to Kruger park, ended up the best choice and much much cheaper.

Review 53:I liked the room, luxury bungalow. It was awesome, the bed was so comfortable. Food was great also.

Review 54:Nothing I can think of. I wish I could stay longer!

Review 55:The people - Dumisani (or Dumi) and the rest of the team, they make you feel more like home, rather than a hotel. The comfort and beauty of the rooms: high ceilings, nice colours, clean and tidy. The atmosphere - peaceful and undisturbed, very relaxing. And also close to Kruger Crocodile bridge and has a great view at the Crocodile river (you can even watch the animals on this and the other side)

Review 56:If you want to go to kruger the entrance is a bit far but while traveling trough it's a great place to stay.

Review 57:Location, it's in a private park with many annimals (no big 5) but still there are all the facilities of a small town like petrol, shops, restaurants. Lodge is very new and rooms are really nice. Dinner was really nice, breakfast was ok.

Review 58:The service was excellent, very relaxing and the rooms were amazing!!

Review 59:Proximity to the Kruger gate The staff were very friendly, the food is good and the lodge rooms excellent.

Review 60:NOTHING

Review 83:super staff, and great set up.

Review 84:we loved the accommodation ,the food and the hospitality. We loved Dumi .- He instantly become a friend and not a host.

Review 85:just across from Kruger. True post-colonial Africa

Review 86:very few and minor issues that i communicated to the staff

Review 87:generally a nice experience! and recommendable.
