Reviews for Pine Beach Inn

Review 1:2 lights didn't work, one lampshade very torn, bedskirt had stains. I did not complain so staff did not have the opportunity to address these concerns.

Review 2:Great ocean view! Microwave, bathroom and fridge all very clean!

Review 3:The curtain in the room had very visable stains all over it. There was no extra roll of toilet paper under the sink but what found instead was a enema device. Why was this here we couldn't figure out.

Review 4:Like the view of the ocean from the balcony and the staff was friendly and considerate.

Review 5:Loved our stay on our 40th anniversary in August so much we returned to stay on my birthday in October. Ocean views, clean and comphy rooms with balcony, dog friendly, and Rosa was just the nicest friendliest, hostess who knows all about the area and where to see the sights. So glad we found them on Booking.com.

Review 6:I have a bad back. Bed too soft. Toilet water level too high.

Review 7:Beautiful location by the ocean! Private beach. Convenient to Ft Bragg & Mendocino locations

Review 8:the only thing & it has nothing to do with the room is that there is a fish cleaning station a little close to my room & sometimes as you walk by you could smell it.

Review 9:Room is older but very well maintained and very clean and tidy. Very comfy and I slept well. I loved waking up to the sound of the ocean.

Review 10:Needs simple upgrading. The bathroom mirror was seriously cracked.,Dirty and broken window curtains. Poorly made bed.

Review 11:Basic motel rooms, poor breakfast. This motel had no record of my reservation and had to phone Booking.com to confirm. It was a Saturday night and the motel was signed as Full. Fortunately, they keep a room available for such situations and in fact we eventually ended up with a suite, but it was an anxious 40 mins in Reception whilst we tried to get this resolved.

Review 12:Easy access to the ocean. Superb Thai restaurant on site.

Review 13:Nothing worked due to lack of maintenance. For example: hairdryer did not function, intermittent fridge, curtains hanging off the rails, no plug in the sink, no functioning electrical sockets in the main bedroom and finally, an infestation of ants in the bathroom because the cleaner had not noticed a container full of empty sugar packets, left by a previous occupant, in the cupboard under the sink. All this developed over three days

Review 14:The proximity of the beach.

Review 15:This listing was completely misrepresented on Booking.com. There was no ocean view, and the private beach was inaccessible due to the 40 ft. bluffs. The room was filthy-dirty rug, mattress stained and old sheets that wouldn't stay on the bed and a blanket that was too small for the size of the bed.The bathroom was tiny and in poor repair, cracked sink, broken faucet, tiny stall shower. Interesting to watch the mealy bugs roaming the floor! Room had no AC, just a small table fan, very spotty Wi-fi. Advertised laundry facility was actually a laundromat down the street in a strip mall. What a disappointment!

Review 16:Nothing! I was so disappointed that the hotel had none of the advertised amenities. Plus, it was so dirty, I couldn't bear to sleep on the bed.

Review 17:Some light switches didn't work, didn't feel like the deadbolt actually engaged on the door, carpet seemed damp but that may just be from the air, facilities are dated but for the price it is a good option. Also, because of the drought, the jacuzzi tubs do not work.

Review 18:I changed credit cards at the front desk but they charged them both. However, when I discovered it they fixed it quickly. The breakfast was very sketchy

Review 19:Lovely private beach, very close to Ft Bragg

Review 20:We booked an ocean view room & found there is no ocean view. The private beach is quite a walk away. Thai restaurant was the worst Thai food I have ever had. Cabbage was the main vegetable in all the soups & dishes we tried.

Review 21:Upgraded to suite because three groups of guests before us found there rooms had not been cleaned. Large room but view was to a small grass area & wooden fence.

Review 22:Internet and cell access was poor, but that may be a plus for those wanting to get away to Mendo. No in-room coffee. The screen doors were all bent and not working well. If you are in a downstairs room, there's no A/C and no fence around sliding door - so you have to keep glass door shut to keep animals out.

Review 23:While the place is old and funky (and really, what place in Mendocino isn't?), it was clean and quiet (but that depends on the neighbors). Access to a nice beach a plus.

Review 24:Worst continental breakfast I have every experienced. There was fish guts, sea urchins and shells by the divers wash down area for all three days we were there and they made the area stink. Rooms had not been thoroughly remodeled in decades and they stunk. If it was not for the location and price the stay would have sucked. The whole facility looks under maintained.

Review 25:Location and walk to beach were awesome.

Review 26:The rooms were in poor condition. The breakfast was terrible and not until 8:00 am.

Review 27:They were very pet friendly and had great access to a pretty beach.

Review 28:sink was stopped up. Restaurant only served Thai food. rooms advertising an ocean view should have been and ocean "peak" - not worth any extra money. Facility very old

Review 29:very quiet setting, nice walk down to the beach

Review 30:The room that is available through booking.com is the budget room. When we opened the door the smell of stale smoke took my breath away. There was a whole cigarette behind the bed, garbage under the bathroom sink, the drawers had not been wiped out and the table was broke. When we requested fresh towels we were told to bring our old ones to the office and we could get new ones. The office is not just down the hall. They did accommodate us with an upgrade. The upgrade smelled better and appeared to be cleaner. The main light did not work and the bathtub would not drain. I do not know if internet and phone service is weak in the entire area but at this property Verizon did not have service, so we did not have phones or internet while at the hotel. This could be a plus if you do not want to be disturbed. We had never been to Fort Bragg before and if we return we will not be staying at this hotel.

Review 31:The private beach was gorgeous.

Review 32:I think the owner should update and make the rooms nicer the breakfast was lame dint eat it and started late need fresh cooked breakfast wood make it worth the price of the rooms looks like the owners cut cost everywhere. Needs Coffee pot in room???

Review 33:The private beach was worth it all very nice time for our 7 anniversary we had a relaxing time.

Review 34:Worst continental breakfast I have ever had anywhere. And the rooms stunk. Old and mustie. This place has not been maintained anywhere near enough. And the trash can near the diver's wash down area did not get dumped in the three days we were there and it was filled with fish guts and sea urchin.

Review 35:It is a great location.

Review 36:The room could of been cleaner. There were ants on the frig and a spot on the floor. Shower was very small.

Review 37:The location is nice. A walk away from their very nice private beach. About a 1/4 mile south is a park reserve with cool trails and a nice beach. About 3/4 mile south is a light house and more beaches.

Review 38:I was there for four nights and they gave me a lousy room. Also, no free wifi or even a cost for wifi, just no wifi. No coffeemaker in the room - that was the worst.

Review 39:That there was a beach nearby

Review 40:WiFi.. although i think the problem was just temporal.

Review 41:I loved this place! It's a large property with small bungalows, time-worn but full of oldschool luxury resort charme. Wooden catwalks between facilities, rundown tennis courts, nice flowerbeds. Spacious rooms. Beautiful beach cove with cliffs to both sides within 2 minute walking distance.

Review 42:Room (and hotel in general) was badly in need of refurbishing. Decor was from 1960's. Bedside lamp didn't work.

Review 43:Proprietor called me to confirm we were still coming rather than give our room to someone else. I really appreciated this. Although not clearly marked as public access, it was a nice walk to beach. Room was clean.

Review 44:WiFi wasn't working while we were there. Comforter was stained, sheets were old and uncomfortable, toilet leaked, main bathroom light tripped due to hair dryer, breakfast (?) was minimal and disappointing, the place could use updating.. . . .

Review 45:Location, close to beach

Review 46:The place was unsafe with open electrical outlets, disconnected screendoor. There was no wifi except in the restaurant which had limitedhours and wasn't open at check in. There was a strong odor ofmildew in the room and the facilities, including the bedding lookedlike they were last updated in 1968! We did not feel that ourbelongings would be safe either in our room or in the vehicle. Ingeneral, the place was a disaster.

Review 47:Nothing

Review 48:Wifi signal so poor had to do without internet pretty much whole time. Condition of room very old and worn. Bathroom tile falling off around tub. We would have been just as content with the less expensive places offered that had similar complaints.

Review 49:Great location.

Review 50:Not much of a breakfast, but other than that, excellent location, staffwas accommodating and helpful.

Review 51:We had an amazing time! Room was clean everything worked and short walk to beach was awesome. Would come back and recommend!

Review 52:The facility shows it's age. However it was clean and comfortable. And the desk clerk was very nice and friendly.

Review 53:Like many other reviews, the location was great. The hotel has it's own private beach only a couple of minutes walk away. The tide pools at low tide were fun to explore. Bring a folding chair or a blanket to sit on and enjoy the ocean views. Beautiful!

Review 54:Phone service is still not the best. But what are vacations for?

Review 55:This is our go to place. Usually we have our dog and Pine Beach is very dog friday location. The room we got on this trip was great. We could sit on the balcony and see the beach.

Review 56:The place is badly in need of updating. The bed was terrible. We did not stay the second night. The breakfast was safeway bread and jam from a squeeze bottle.

Review 57:The private beach is wonderful, but they do not provide or offer chairs to enjoy it.

Review 58:I thought the room could have been cleaner. Under the bathroom sink was unfinished and dirty. The sliding screen door fell off the track when I first opened it, and it did not close tightly. Our neighbors struggled with their sliding glass door every time they opened it.

Review 59:The location was nice. We had a partial view of the ocean from the balcony. The bed was comfortable. Our stay was quiet. We slept well.

Review 60:Wi-Fi connection horrible!! Inn too far out of the way, only a Thai Cafe close by for dinner.Phone service was bad even for Verizon, kept dropping calls. Mosquitoes were very hungry!

Review 61:Beds comfy, private beach was nice , staff friendly.

Review 62:The room was outdated. The facilities were in questionable shape - curtain wouldn't close all the way, tub caulking cracking at edges. Poor water pressure. Dirty carpet - socks visibly dirty just from walking on it.

Review 63:Access to a private beach Friendly, helpful staff Nice location away from bustle of town Free Breakfast

Review 64:We were told about an incredible hike along the ridge overlooking the ocean and we made several trips down to the private beach which we absolutely loved.

Review 65:Wanting to check in, I spent the first five minutes being ignored by two rather loud employees. It was very awkward, and I was ready to walk out.

Review 66:Short walk to the beach.

Review 67:Wi-Fi does not work. Which was a huge problem because there was also no internet connection through my phone. Also bugs on floor of bathroom, both alive and dead. Unnerving!

Review 68:Comfortable bed,shower was hot.

Review 69:TV is old-style (not flat panel) - hadn't seen one of these in a while. Free breakfast was very limited compared to Hampton Inn, etc but really no issue.

Review 70:Not on the beach, but close enough to walk (about a half mile). Large 2-room suite with all standard amenities. Access is directly from outside, more like older "motels" but no problem for us. Clean and for the price was a good choice.

Review 71:No reception for cell phones. That's a safety issue. Ants on nite stands and some in my bed. Only one toilet paper role. Had to ask for more.

Review 72:Great view of Ocean. Asked for a coffee maker and they brought us one.

Review 73:Hair in the bedsheets . Toilet seat cover need to be replaced . Disgusting. Room had an odor due to old carpets and curtains. Had to use an air freshener . A light was out and when desk staff came to check it was unplugged only but it was flickering a little and she said it was nothing to worry about . Later it started to smell and we reported it and was told to disconnect it and they will send someone to check it. No one evercame even after 2 follow ups until we left after 2 nights.

Review 74:Spacious ground. Not crowded

Review 75:At 9 o'clock in the morning the maid nocked on the door and before we could answer, she had already opened the door. If we hadn't latched the door she would have been in the room. That might have been a little embarrassing.

Review 76:The view out the back sliding door was nice. The trail that led down to the beach was very nice.

Review 77:Actually liked everything only one glitch no cell phone service. That was fine for me. Back to basics. Daughter was a little disappointed but got over it

Review 78:The desk clerks so nice and friendly. Had 2rooms. Played tennis nice walk to private beach. Rooms were clean. Coffee for 2 pots. Very comfortable would definitely go here again. We vacation 4 x year this will be our new place to stay.

Review 79:Wish the rooms were a bit updated. A jacuzzi would've been nice. We had one cochroach in the room.

Review 80:Mendicino is a cute town. We loved we cold walk to the beach. It's pretty.

Review 81:Nothing.

Review 82:I liked the view from my room. I could see the private beach from my balcony. The room was full of character. It was clean and fresh. I couldn't get wifi and the tv screen was super small and hard to see, but I just took that as a sign that I needed to take some time for myself...which is why I went to begin with! So, the room was perfect and the people were amazing. Thank you!!

Review 83:The exterior of the whole property needs updating. A new coat of paint would go along way. Also the rooms could use some splash of color. Brighten up this great place.

Review 84:The private beach was amazing

Review 85:The photos of this motel are misleading. The view is not that given on the website. The office is a long way from many of the units so there is effectively no wifi. There was also no Internet coverage. The room was tired and damp smelling. For the price it was very disappointing.

Review 86:Very basic accommodations; clean and functional rooms with average sized bathrooms. Lack of connectivity - very small wifi coverage, no cell coverage, limited tv channels.

Review 87:Beautiful location, easy access to beach, huge grounds, very homey atmosphere. Quiet/ no crowds. Convenient fish/diver cleaning station, large patios. Friendly, helpful staff. Regular maid service. Great value.

Review 88:The setting is beautiful and the room we were given looked out on the cove with private beach. I read some reviews that didn't do the place justice. I agree it is a bit run down but its by the sea harsh conditions. We had a clean comfortable bed with a great sea view. When you turn out the lights it could be the Waldorf and for a 10th of the price. After all you don't live in your hotel room so for those who are looking for immaculate furnishings and tasteful decor, Stay at home! Thanks again guys.

Review 89:No coffee in room and a ways to walk to get it and not open until 8am on Sat am. Did not understand desk person for pass word for wi-fi. Unable to tell desk person re room issues due to being on the phone. Stairs need better rail.

Review 90:Quiet, clean, and wonderful view.

Review 91:Was not close to town to had to drive. Breakfast was not adequate. Hotel needs upgrades!

Review 92:The view private beach. And the comfort of the bed. Staff was nice!

Review 93:Our room had a beautiful view. There's a short walk to a beautiful beach. The room itself was a bit worn looking. Wall paper in the bathroom was lifting. The bed was comfortable. The bathtub was jetted...nice!

Review 94:Hot breakfast was advertised, we waited till 8 am. got no breakfast, no coffee, no nothing. Had to go into town for breakfast & wait an eternity which messed up our schedule. Staff argued with me about the lower price of the room guaranteed by booking.com, I had to get the price difference after coming back from my trip; good thing booking.com was very helpful in getting my money back.

Review 95:The private beach half mile walk from facility and the view from balcony looking at the side of the beach. Quiet.

Review 96:WiFi signal was very low and sometimes no signal. No at&t cellular reception. Need to drive about a mile to get reception.

Review 97:The partial views if the ocean and forest rviews. Front desk staff was nice. Free wifi and Direct TV.

Review 98:Mattress smelled like pesticide. I wondered all night if we would come home with bed bugs. Room was dated. Overall it's time to spruce things up and it could be a great place instead of just meh.

Review 99:The ocean view and access to the lovely private beach.

Review 100:Arrived and was told They had no reservation for me. No in room coffee No free wi fi except in the "Business Center" Over priced and outdated room.

Review 101:Nice setting

Review 102:The large rooms the staff was willing to work for you and provide what ever you need. The beach was WONDERFULL right out back just a short walk and only us on it !!!

Review 103:No ventilation in the rooms, so you have to keep the sliding glass door cracked open. No coffee maker (and the office does not open until 8 am for coffee), old TV, and poor WiFi. If you are a Verizon user, there is no signal at this location.

Review 104:The rooms are large, spacious and clean. You can see a small patch of ocean from the balcony. It is a short walk to a private beach.

Review 105:&Quot;breakfast" consisted of two cold cereals, loafs of wheatbread and raisin-cinnamon English muffins and coffee. No fruit or sweetrolls, waffles or other heated food. For the cost and season; thereshould have been. Also, no coffee maker in room. A sign was posted .atstart of trail to beach telling non-guests of a $20 charge to visit thebeach. This is a violation of california law.

Review 106:Proximity to ocean beach, although you had to cross a small stream toget to the actual beach. No bridge

Review 107:We liked everything about this place. It is close to everything, it was comfortable, the song birds are beautiful to wake up to in the morning, and the private beach was a amazing.

Review 108:All the "more expensive" hotels were advertising cut rates as we drove past but booking online did not reflect off-season rates and Pine Beach Inn would not allow us to cancel nor drop their rate...room smelled musty and the plastic chair was black with mold. No coffee in room and they wouldn't open doors til 8 a.m. for continental breakfast. Dead bug was attached to the damp-feeling bedspread.

Review 109:Only thing: Wasn't sure whether my refrigerator was a freezer or simply set to too cold temperature. My salads and almond milk I put in there froze. Forgot to tell the owners upon check-out.

Review 110:The gorgeous Ocean View from my nice and big room! The private beach with majestic landscape. The wonderful quiet location outside of Fort Bragg and yet close to the main road to Mendocino, the Botanical Garden and the Sea Glass Museum. The friendly staff. The parking close to the room like in a motel.

Review 111:Smelled a little musky when we first entered the room but after a few minutes with the slider door open it was fine. We came during the off season so it may not have been rented for awhile.

Review 112:The staff was amazing, the view and private beach was great, and if we would have stayed longer we would have definitely used the fire pit :)

Review 113:Poor attention to details: no coffee maker (they did bring one at our request), smoke alarm sitting on the closet shelf (instead of mounted to ceiling), fridge on floor w/ microwave on top (not in an off-floor cabinet), bath tub with water jets not operational.

Review 114:The beach just down the hill.

Review 115:Rooms were too remote from the front office building; decor was very dated and "shabby"; electrical in bathroom was questionable/risky; private beach was a definite "hike". This place was probably lovely 30+ years ago; it truly needs upgrading to be competitive.

Review 116:Young man at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful; room was very spacious, and it was clean. Ocean view was lovely.

Review 117:Unexpectedly, they lost our reservation, and we were got only queen bed, except of king. Room was cold, there was no coffee maker, TV is pretty old, list of channels is poor, no WIFI, no wireless network, breakfast was not fabolous

Review 118:Private beach, definitely the best beach we ever saw.

Review 119:Access to beach limited to able bodied people. Path to beach in serious need of repair, would be challenging to negotiate a wheelchair down the path, also path quite steep. Room smelled very musty. Toilet made loud involuntary noises frequently. Very difficult to open door to patio. Continental breakfast so so, jams, fake butter and peanut butter in squeeze containers. No tongs for getting bread or muffins out of packaging meaning many hands coming in direct contact with food. No tea bags for tea drinkers. I felt room was somewhat overpriced because of condition of motel.

Review 120:Proximity to the ocean, could hear the waves from our room. Clean room. Was adequate for our needs.

Review 121:The facility is old and run down. It could stand a complete updating and the "breakfast" did not even provide drinkable coffee.

Review 122:The location was great as was the price. The beautiful cove was spectacular.

Review 123:The breakfast was provided in the reception of the hotel. As there are few chairs, it is a buffet in every sense of the word!

Review 124:Pine Beach Inn has a wonderful location with a private beach at the end of a path leading from the rooms. It is peaceful and the rooms are cosy.

Review 125:One reason we booked here was that it appeared to have a restaurant on site, so was very disappointed to find that it was closed. Also not enough room provided for the continental breakfast and no seating.

Review 126:Staff was great in helping us to find dinner. They were genuinely interested in our comfort and travel options.

Review 127:While some of the rooms may have had a peek at the far away beach, the view out our back window was a look at some trees about 15 feet away. Not altogether bad, but not what we were expecting.

Review 128:Convenient to Fort Bragg, and in a large quiet wooded property off the highway away from traffic.

Review 129:Jacuzzi tub was out of order in both our room and our friends room.

Review 130:close to Mendocino and Ft. Bragg. It had a really nice little private beach. Quiet and rustic.

Review 131:The sink drain in room 56 needs to be checked; it drains very slowly.

Review 132:Anita and Michael were awesome! Great location between Fort Bragg and Mendocino. Great view and very comfortable.

Review 133:Rooms not to clean strange collection of furniture. Bathroom tiny, sink in ours cracked, shower stall really small. Breakfast a real joke the guy really didn't want us there not ready by 8am? Place seems to be in mid stage of falling apart looks like it might have been good at one time but now appears to be like no money is being put into the property, we would have done better to have stayed at the motel 6!

Review 134:The location, really quiet. Large room.

Review 135:"Breakfast included" means just coffee, toast and banana at the reception, even without tables - had to go back to Fort Bragg for breakfast.

Review 136:Location, big room with jacuzzi (although not working). Two minutes walking to the ocean

Review 137:the bathroom floor could have been cleaner [the corners]

Review 138:balcony over looking the ocean view sound of the ocean the smell of the sea coming in the sliding lass door the soft bed with comfortable bedding just like the ones you have at home very home like the safety of the second floor lots of bed pillows

Review 139:Building needs updating Towels and sheets needed updating Rooms need painting The room did not have a fresh smell

Review 140:location walking distance to a beach
