Reviews for Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki
Review 1:The food was quite expensive, particularly the buffet.
Review 2:The hotel had a nice relaxed feel to it and my room was lovely. You also got two free drinks vouchers on arrival which was great.
Review 3:The receptionist sent us to the wrong room, no apologies. The room had the noisiest air conditioning unit, the room facilities looked dated it was like staying in a hotel in Cuba, except you expect that in Cuba not in Honolulu.
Review 4:The hotel lobby it was nice and plush.
Review 5:The bathroom has a separated space for shower and hot tub, which I found unpractical, in addition cleanliness in the shower was not exactly at its best
Review 6:Location is pretty good, close to restaurants and malls They have a shuttle service to the Ala Moana Mall the guy in charge of offering you tours and special transportation is nice and helpful
Review 7:The hotel seems to be rather old and unmaintained also heavily geared towards Japanese tourists. We felt a little displaced coming from LA. The value you get does not match the price in this hotel. The breakfast menu is rather sparse and on Sunday they refused to serve al a cart breakfast. We also got double charged for breakfast one time - one time one the card one time on the room.
Review 8:The location is in walkable distance to Waikiki beach and the stores.
Review 9:They held a pending transaction on my credit card for well over a week.
Review 10:Perfect spot for a hotel, short stroll to Waikiki beach and also the Ala Moana shopping centre.
Review 11:There was an odor (mold?) in the lobby. Uncomfortable bed.
Review 12:The outdoor pool and spa were wonderful - great view of the harbor! The room layout was also wonderful.
Review 13:I had no bad experience and personally I liked the location but others may prefer the hotel moew in the centre of busy Waikiki with all the restaurants and hotels.. I prefered to be away from that
Review 14:The best thing about this hotel was the bedroom, large with very quiet central airconditioning and a large window that opened right up so you could choose between the AC or natural air. It had a super comfortable bed and the bathroom was an excellent size with seperate shower room. There is a bus stop for all buses 3 minutes walk and the main Ala Moana shopping centre is less than 10 minutes walk away . The staff were super co operative .
Review 15:Slow check-in process; bathroom was not quite as clean as it should have been.
Review 16:Location and view exceptional; bed and pillow perfection; breakfast was delicious; staff friendly and accommodating.
Review 17:This is our third vacation there. It is quiet since it is at the west end of Waikiki. It is walking distance from Ala Moana Mall where there are plenty of restaurant choices and shopping. Beaches are in walking distance. Staff is great. It is nice to go downstairs for a latte and muffin or dine in the beautiful dining room. Pool is clean and relaxing. Free shuttle to Ala Moana Mall and Waikiki beaches.
Review 18:No bad experience.
Review 19:lovely large, light room with spectacular views. Separate tub is a bonus. Widows that open is nice and once again, amazing views! Modern. End of the 'strip' overlooking the marina.
Review 20:The room had ants and we were forced to move to a different room, we returned to our original room only to find the problem still existed. The mgt. moved us and our son's family to much more acceptable accommodations.
Review 21:The staff and mgt. were most respectful and professional in resolving problems with the room. The accommodations and especially the breakfast was great. Thanks to mgt. and staff for all there help.
Review 22:The internet (even using the ethernet cable) does not qualify has high speed. I was unable to use video Skype and had to manually reset the router twice during my stay.
Review 23:The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 24:Outdated and not kept as clean as I would expect for the price. Mystery stains on the bathroom wallpaper and dirty A/C vent and ceiling.
Review 25:Room service food was good and staff was friendly.
Review 26:quite expensive including amenities such as restaurants, internet and parking. TV too small and no balcony.
Review 27:great location, spacious room with stunning views, nice bathroom. Internet and parking okay.
Review 28:Management gave us the wrong room at first, but took care of it right away.
Review 29:Super clean, very helpful staff. Large rooms with great views. Close to the convention center.
Review 30:Property is worn, tired and out dated. 1 external electrical out in the washroom only for recharging phone, computer etc.. Lamps did not work in the room. Had to pay for internet
Review 31:The views
Review 32:Would have enjoyed a little activity in the lobby in the evening - was dull and sleepy!
Review 33:Location and easy access to local transportation and businesses. Safe environment with pleasant window view. Courteous and helpful staff.
Review 34:Pool freezing cold Architectural monstrosity has created a venturi effect and keeps the pool area like a wind tunel even when ther is no wind!! No decent service by the pool. Every day walking into the loby area you could swear you were stepping into a fish a nd chips kitchen in a small town in China. Smelly and filthy stench. The cost of food is astronomical. Really over 50 pp for buffet? Are you serious???
Review 35:Like the view and the quiet of the room we were. Other rooms listen to the air conditioning suystems from the lower adjoing roofs. Great front door staff
Review 36:The movie selection wasn't too great since my husband and I wanted to see some of their "New Releases". Maybe an update to their selection would be more interesting to guests.
Review 37:I LOVED the view of the marina from my room! The king size bed and mini fridge were just what I ordered and the shower and bathtub being seperate was a dream since it's hard to find that in Hawaii for such a good deal.
Review 38:WiFi in room only for a fee; however, free WiFi in hotel lobby. Little too expensive.
Review 39:Friendly personnell at check-in; large, clean, and quiet room. Best choice for overnight stay between flights etc.
Review 40:The cost of parking is too high.
Review 41:I really appreciate the spaciousness of the rooms. The bathroom is clean, roomy, well equipped and well lighted. The darkened curtains allowed us to sleep in and enjoy the comforts of the room.
Review 42:not much dining choice. the down comforter has no cover. i coughed with dust a bit
Review 43:view from room was awesome. staffs are kind and considerate. room is clean and well maintained
Review 44:Beautiful big room overlooking the Marina and ocean, with all the facilities you require. Great location, short walk to both major shopping centre and beach front. Ordered room service, food was quite good and the delivery was fast and efficient. Shuttle bus to Waikiki Central available. Front office Reception staff were very helpful and obliging. Arrived at the hotel at 9.30am and checkin time was 3.00pm, was offered a immediate room for just an extra $30. At checkout we mentioned that there was a damp area on the carpet under the air conditioning that they may want to look at and without hesitation, the $30 room fee was wavered. Did not get to try the restaurant as we only stayed one night post cruise on our way home. The room was great value for money.
Review 45:The hotel itself is a bit dated. Wi-Fi was only free in the lobby but you had to pay for it in your room.
Review 46:We were in a two bedroom suite which was spacious and had a great view over the harbour and Magic Island. Having lived across the road previously, we were familiar with the location of the hotel and like the fact that it is out of the main Waikiki area, close to Ala Moana shopping center and within walking distance of Ala Moana Beach. Buses run past the hotel.
Review 47:I found spots of slight mold on the thin white window curtains, most likely due to how humid it was in the room being in the tropics, and a bobby-pin on the carpet under the desk. Not being a female I assumed this was accidentally left from the cleaning staff, but very-well could indicate how infrequently they vacuum or attention to cleaning in general instead of making it "look" clean - either of which were concerning.
Review 48:The view and being close to Wikiki though not far from the business district (business travel). The bathroom was spectacular. For the price compared to other hotels very near by it was an excellent stay (under per diem).
Review 49:There is nothing I didn't like.
Review 50:Clean, comfortable room. The staff were very friendly, the customer service was outstanding. The free shuttle to Waikiki beaches and shopping was fast and convenient! The pool area was very nice with great sunset view from the pool deck. I will stay there again and highly recommend this hotel to business travelers as well as family's.
Review 51:Stayed at the Hawaii Prince 10/10/14 to 10/12/14. On 10/11/14 $129.56 was held on my Visa, no explanation until I called my bank on 10/13/14 inquring who authorized the with hold amount. Upon checkout on 10/12/14 this amount was not shown on my bill. I had prepaid for my two night stay as required and I paid amount due for valet parking and WiFi in cash. To date, this held amount of %129.56 has not been credited to my Visa account although I was told it was released almost two weeks ago This gross oversight ruined.my stay. Winona Watanabe 10/31/14 Wailuku, Maui
Review 52:Valet Parking - very convenient, the valet service was excellent.during my stay 10/10/14 to 10/12/14, Winona Watanabe 10/31/14 Wailuku, Maui
Review 53:Would like to have had away to sit on a patio from our room instead of just opening the window to be out in the fresh air.
Review 54:nothing to add, again great views.
Review 55:Parking garage was tiny and hard to navigate. If you're in a rental car I suggest a compact car. Parking was $21 extra per day but compared to other parking wasn't that bad just annoying.
Review 56:My wife and I spent our tenth anniversary here and we stayed in the prime view room.It did not dissapoint!! The view from the room was amazing looking right out at the harbor and ocean every morning for beautiful Hawaiian sunrises was awesome!!! Room was clean, bed was comfortable, bathrooms were very nice and spacious . Id stay here again in a heartbeat!!
Review 57:For us the hotel lacked the welcoming hawaiian spirit we loved so much on our previous visit. The seats in the lobby were stained and definitely not where I'd choose to sit. It could have been a hotel anywhere in the world.. No ambiance at all. The people in the hotel were not exactly full of warmth and although efficient it was clinical. The feather pillows were horrendous, and even though we asked for other toes of pillows these were flat & lumpy and delivered to us in ripped pillowcases. I also don't understand why the quilts were feather, they were very hot. Our maids were touch and go, we had to swap rooms due to a neighbour filling our room with cigarette smoke( it's a smoke free hotel), they were very quick to react and fabulous help. The courtesy bus is great to leave from the hotel but we waited on 3 separate occasions for a lift home & it never showed. As were several other guests. We didn't hate the hotel, we just didn't love it as much as our previous hotels in Waikiki. I think with a few new lounges, more approachable staff and attention to detail it would be easy to accomplish the Aloha spirit.
Review 58:Loved the location, away from the crowds but an easy 12 min walk to waikiki. We loved the pool area, the lounges were lovely. The rooms were spacious, Beds were very comfortable, the view was superb and the bathroom huge. Loved that it was a 5 min walk to Ala Moana. We went after the sun was down so we didn't waste our days. The doormen were incredibly friendly and helpful. The coffee was great downstairs.
Review 59:Neither my wife nor I liked the fact that we couldn't stay at the Hawaii Prince for the rest of our lives.
Review 60:The view was extraordinary and we loved the huge open windows which allowed us to enjoy the sea breezes in the mornings and evenings. The Toto toilet was a hoot. The beds were top quality. The staff were like family. The food is always top notch. It's the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in.
Review 61:Wifi charges were over the top. Fortunately I had been warned and was able to make my own connection. Its a shame that such a first class hotel has to make those kind of charges. I had booked a smoking room and did not realize until I had unpacked my room was non smoking. Could not be bothered packing again so went downstairs when I wanted to smoke.
Review 62:The staff were all great. Particularly the housekeepers and bellboys. The separate shower was nice. I am disabled and climbing in and out of a tub can be hazardous.
Review 63:Nothing.
Review 64:Proximity to Ala Moana. Great value for money and lovely views from upper floors. Very clean. Nice amenities in bathroom. Comfortable bed. Away from Waikiki crowds.
Review 65:the fitness room was sparse, not enough machines. perhaps a bigger breakfast place as often it was crowded with one worker. She was good but there was often a line.
Review 66:the quiet, polite atmosphere unlike other hotels. I checked out of another hotel as the lobby was noisy and crowded and yours was quiet and dignified. I slept very well without other noises.I felt very taken care of there. I really liked the spa and masseuses. Pool was good too…overall great hotel.
Review 67:long way out from wakakii beach ,expensive parking, drinks expensive
Review 68:close to big shopping centre and food places, shuttle into wakakii beach, bus outside .great room with beautiful view, quiet hotel ,good pool area
Review 69:I didn't like leaving!!!
Review 70:The staff are very pleasant, friendly, and helpful. Sunday brunch was one of the best brunches I've been to in a very long time. We stayed in the Diamond Head Tower-6th floor. The room was cool and perfect when we arrived. If I could have stolen the bed I would have. It is the perfect combo of soft and firm. And a phone in the toilet stall? I thought that was only in the movies!! I started saving money the next day for our next getaway weekend!
Review 71:Some confusion and parking the last night we were there. The lot sign said it was full and directed us elsewhere. as it turned out, it was still open for guests, so we had to pay for parking and walking that was not necessary.
Review 72:Great rooms in the two bedroom suite. Great view of the Harbor. Easy drive from the airport. Friendly service.
Review 73:The condition of the property is shabby. Lobby is ok but both of the rooms I was in were tired and in need of an update. They accidentally assigned my room to someone else after I was already in it and a strange man walked in on me. Room service warned me that it might take 45 minutes to get two beers up to me room. Claire at the front desk was rude and showed no Aloha at all!
Review 74:Francis the assistant manager was very helpful and tried his best to improve a bad situation.
Review 75:Front desk staff unhelpful. No free Wi fi. Room smelt musty.
Review 76:Concierge very helpful. Liked the view Trip organiser (Patricia) very good and helpful. Rooms were nice and spacious.
Review 77:Too expensive
Review 78:Great location. Clean and comfortable room with breathtaking views over the marina.
Review 79:We stayed 5th floor which is very low, no any view. And Internet data is not free.
Review 80:Very nice hotel
Review 81:The coffee pot in the bathroom and no wifi in the rooms
Review 82:the rooms have a wonderfull sea view ,walking distance to restaurants , mall and beaches.
Review 83:None
Review 84:Location
Review 85:Bigger room and bathroom.
Review 86:View of the marina
Review 87:had to work
Review 88:Servcie
Review 89:overprice and overstated felt like moving out but I was too busy with my meetings, otherwise, I would, definitely, not going back
Review 90:the view- ONLY
Review 91:The staff were not bad bit not consistent
Review 92:Room was quite nice
Review 93:Outlook and location of Hotel was ideal was a relaxing holiday. Close to transport and shops. Accommodation was clean and very comfortable.
Review 94:No available smoking suites.
Review 95:Availability of smoking rooms. Good location.
Review 96:The location is great. Near to Ala Moana center and the beach.
Review 97:Everthing
Review 98:The staff was spot on, would help in any way and very courteous. We would absolutely stay again on our next visit.
Review 99:location and service
Review 100:Mistake from account staff. Never say sorry.
Review 101:Loction
Review 102:Food selection limited
Review 103:Helpful staff
Review 104:No free wifi. Really?
Review 105:Great location. Beautiful building.
Review 106:Great value and great hotel. I was happily surprised at how perfect the hotel was considering we booked online. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 107:Wish there were more restaurants nearby.
Review 108:Shared a suite with business companions. Each room was spacious and came with 2 bathrooms.
Review 109:Comfort. I was avble to rest
Review 110:The whole package
Review 111:good breakfast
Review 112:Rooms were dated, needs some updating
Review 113:Spectacular View right on top of Honolulu Harbor, excellent location to get around Oahu
Review 114:I requested a queen bed but two twins were in the room
Review 115:It was nothing startling to attract the big dollars, so I ranked value for money as "poor".
Review 116:A nice view over the marina. Large lobby with fast lifts. Large room, comfortable and clean.
Review 117:The bar closed at 10.00p.m, due to local licencing laws; so not the hotel's fault. That I couldn't have stayed longer!
Review 118:Easy to find from the airport. Spacious rooms with smashing view over marina and ocean. Easy walking distance to main Waikiki strip and felt very safe even late at night, although there were sufficient restaurants and bars close by.
Review 119:There was no free internet in the room. The wallpaper needs to be changed as some parts were peeling off. There is no garden.
Review 120:The location was perfect, very close to Ala Moana Mall and the view from our window which is the marina, was very nice. The staff were very helpful and the room was clean.
Review 121:Water pressure of shower was a bit low.
Review 122:It's close to both shopping mall and park&beach. I like L'Occitane's shampoo. That's why I stay here more than 10times.
Review 123:Had a windy day, and the elevators located on the outside of the two buildings (3 each) can start to shake. This was the case for the Diamond Head Tower, and when we wanted to descend from the 17th floor for breakfast, the elevators were not functioning. Phone calls to the operator, after many, many rings got a "Oh really? I didn't know that." response. The phone before the elevators just rang forever with no one answering. We finally walked down the emergency exit stairs to the parking garage, a kind of scary experience. We were 30 minutes late for a breakfast appointment. We were later told that we should have just used the service elevator (not an outside one); telephone operators should be able to give this instruction to guests immediately!
Review 124:Rooms are 'roomy'; location is fine for Ala Moana (beach and shopping center), and it is not really part of Waikiki, which we rather prefer.
Review 125:Nothing to not like, the rooms do not have balconies but I guess that isreflected in the cost c x
Review 126:Stunning hotel, had an amazing honeymoon. Lovely decent size rooms, veryfriendly staff, free shuttle to Waikiki was perfect although we walkedduring the day which took no longer than 15mins.
Review 127:We really needed more handicap facilities such as grab bars in the bathroom and shower.
Review 128:We loved the wonderful view of the Marina and the ocean. We also enjoyed the seafood buffet, everything was very fresh and tasty. We would definitely come again when we come back to Hawaii .
Review 129:Slow to arrive elevators, although notice was posted advising these were being upgraded.
Review 130:Convenient for both airport and cruise port, both being within a 15/20 minute car journey. Quick check-in and friendly helpful staff. Amazing waterfront location and as we were allocated a room on the 28th floor we enjoyed amazing views out to sea and along the coast towards Pearl Harbour. Was also within easy walking distance of shopping mall and Waikiki beach. Room allocated was 2804, which was opposite elevators, but noise wasn't an issue as room was huge and had entrance corridor, plus louvered doors that closed the bedroom area off from entrance door. Amazing bathroom with separate shower, bath and a toilet enclosed in its own area portioned off for privacy with a frosted glass door.
Review 131:Lack of free internet access in the lobby, despite "Free Wifi" being shown. Reception staff advised that free wifi in lobby had been removed 2 years ago. This practice of charging exorbitant in-room internet access is outdated. Even budget hotels now offer good and free wifi.
Review 132:Beautiful views of boat harbor right in front of the hotel. Walking distance (10 min) to major regional shopping centre. Easy access to ABC convenience store, Macs and Outbacks.
