Reviews for Hotel Convento dos Capuchos

Review 1:A little on the expensive side :-)

Review 2:Conveniently located near the centre of the town (5 minutes on foot), and only a short drive to Valença and Melgaço. The rooms are both spacious and clean, and the surroundings quiet. Breakfast was good, and included a variety of homemade food, from pancakes (crepes) and cakes to half a dozen different types of jam.

Review 3:Air con wasn't brilliant, tho' the maintenance man did his best to improve it. Weren't too impressed when a group of 10 locals (non residents)invaded the pool, with several large inflatables , and were noisily dive bombing etc

Review 4:Ambience, pool, gardens, breakfast. Short walk to town.

Review 5:Great spot in Moncao near the river Lima. The old Convent has been nicely renovated and turned into a lovely designed small hotel. The breakfast is superb (and goes much beyond the usual quejio and fiambre).

Review 6:Location; old convent very weel adapted to modern hotel

Review 7:Service is hot profissional, Special in the Finder room

Review 8:localition. Confort. Calm and quiet hotel

Review 9:Go and eat dinner elsewhere, unfortunately we did not. Breakfast ok but will not make your day.

Review 10:Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful surroundings

Review 11:Lack of signage in area to Hotel

Review 12:Beautiful. tranquil location

Review 13:Location, paisaje, good to relax, comfort

Review 14:Reception and restaurant staff have to improve

Review 15:Everything.

Review 16:The hotel is not alert enough to cleanness and comfort: food on the floor in the dining room, bathroom sinks that back up, and cold bath water.

Review 17:The attractiveness of the hotel is excellent. The public and private rooms are very appealing. The staff tries to please.

Review 18:The bar was not staffed. It was the reception staff who had to came on call, and went away after. It was not a big deal, but was not practical.

Review 19:The way the facilities have been adapted from an old convent to a modern hotel, without loosing the original identity. The Restaurant is excellent.

Review 20:It's quite chilly in Monção this time of the year and the heating system was turned off in the hallways.

Review 21:We always choose this hotel when we go to Monção. This time, we were offered a complimentary room upgrade (Convent wing). Excellent!

Review 22:The breakfast was a bit poor, sausages and ham very fatty. Nice bread. We put every day the sign "Do not disturb" but the cleaners got into the room to clean.

Review 23:Nice little terraces with table and chairs facing the garden (with playground) and pool. For family, two rooms communicated, very comfortable and independent when the children are sleeping.

Review 24:We expected to stay in the historic building and were a littledisappointed to be referred to the modern bungalow. However, it was nota major problem. We were almost the only guests in late October, thebreakfast buffet was therfor not great and fresh.

Review 25:It was clean and tidy and you have a nice path into town. Practicalassociation of two double rooms for the family.

Review 28:N.A.

Review 29:The historical atmosphere of the site, which is well preserved in spite of the adaptation of the convent into an outstanding inn. Great for families with children.

Review 30:There was not anything to dislike about the convent, only they must be careful not to make the price prohibitive.

Review 31:A beautiful hotel,a lovely garden to walk in,but the fact you could walk to the city in about ten minutes was a real bonus, and the city walls and the river board walk was interesting. We stayed in the garden rooms, with a very large and pleasant room,we sat on the patio at night and watched the lights come on in the city. The breakfast was excellent, with a very good selection of cakes and savoury food.

Review 32:Not much of the history was visible. We stayed in a completely new wing. Information plaques on the wall would have helped to understand the previous occupancy of the monastery.

Review 33:I love the history and atmosphere of old buildings and monastries. This hotel has been completely renovated and opened in 2008. The furnishings were in keeping with the theme, and we loved the bed side tables. My children loved the playground. Buffet breakfast was very nice.
