Reviews for Desert Hot Springs Spa Hotel

Review 1:The carpets are in poor dirty condition, two out of three chairs on the balcony were broken, there was a shortage of towels, and they smelled as though they had not been cleaned but only dried. The water lines were constantly full of air and sink stoppers didn't work. Electrical outlets were loose and needed to be replaced. The refrigerator door was broken. Generally the hotel is in sad need of repair and upgrade.

Review 2:The only thing good about this property is the mineral Spring water.

Review 3:Very dated. Needs a serious remodel. Linens were clean but they desperately need to rip out that old carpet, put new furniture and flat screen tvs.

Review 4:I wouldn't stay here again.

Review 5:The towels could be fluffier. And it would have been nice to have had a robe in my room. But I probably could have just asked for one.

Review 6:It's older and somewhat worn down but it's also beautiful and I hope it never changes. This place is incredibly relaxing and un-pretentious.

Review 7:The hotel's funky 60s vibe is part of its charm and actually a plus in our opinion (e.g. unlike many newer hotels, rooms here are very spacious). We found the facilities to be clean and well-organized for a comfortable stay, and service from staff all around the hotel was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back!

Review 8:the room was infested with ants, the rooms was dirty and smelled, the pools were all dirty and half of them dont work properly, this place needs a make over and good house keeping and maintance

Review 9:Hotel is very very dated, walkway area to room very dirty (food wrappers, spilled food and drinks, sticky walkway). Rooms look very dated, a fresh coat of paint can go a long way..rugs very worn. Not understanding why the sliding doors open to a public walkway.

Review 10:There were 5 pools, a live band playing by the pool, organic toiletries. Tiny refrigerator in room.

Review 11:Having to keep charge of two different keys; one for the gate and one for the room. Also didn't like that I had to go to the office (in my bathing suit) to get towels for my family to use the pools.

Review 12:The staff was great, very professional and friendly!

Review 13:The carpet was soiled and sticky. A air wig insect actually crawled over us in the bed. The noise from the pool was loud and the rooms are not soundproof. While we were there a fight occurred on the second floor above us.

Review 14:We liked the location

Review 15:The place has become a community pool and cleanliness was not good. I love this place several years ago but it needs to revive its policies and facilities.

Review 16:Hotel rooms were comfortable and clean.

Review 17:Felt the cleanliness was just OK. The sauna remained very dirty during my whole stay. Never had the floor swept. Also did not like the no limited hours for outside visitors. Although I do understand that this is very nice for the locals. I will just visit the more adult facility next time. This was my 1st visit.

Review 18:Overall I liked all of it. Just too many kids for relaxation.

Review 19:The noise in the evenings. Upon checking out we were billed $52 for food and beverages which we never ordered. It took the the receptionist half an hour to clear it from our bill and no explanation was given for this unauthorized charge. I wouldn't have noticed it, if I didn't request a receipt.

Review 20:The pools with the varieties of water temperature.

Review 21:Did not give me the room I had reserved, and Staff was not concernedabout it! Room was filthy, carpet dirty, bathroom had hair and bugs insink and shower, top of toilet didnt fit, smelled terrible..I Know it wasa vintage 70's theme hotel,But it was not clean at all...I Wasafraid to look in the closet in case there was a body in it! We checkedout after looking at the rooms..and the front desk didnt even ask if hecould accomidate me in another way....TERRIBLE All Around! Just stay inPalm Springs if your in this area!

Review 22:Nothing

Review 23:Put some money back into the place. Bed a little saggy, carpet bunching up in spots, pipes making horrible noises with no water pressure, and early 1980's decor.

Review 24:Nice size room and really nice views of the mountains. Good selection of different pool temps

Review 25:The property is horribly maintained. Its like paying a premium fee for substandard amenities. The people (guests) seem very unscrupulous. There were used condoms on the stairs and human excrement splattered on the outer wall. Horrible experience! I would not return even for a free room...maybe with the comfort of my pistol.

Review 26:The abundance of pools that are open to guests 24hrs.

Review 27:Room was old and in need of improvements. Shower drained so slowly, carpet was thin and wrinkly, paint in bathroom cracked and so on. A big cockroach flew over to my bed at night and that really ruined the experience.

Review 28:several mineral pools w varying temps surround by the rooms were very nice. Life guards were constantly cleaning the pools. A bar and a restaurant on the premise were convenient. Although the building was old, size of the room itself was good.

Review 29:The property is very run down and shabby. It is also very over-priced for what you are getting.

Review 30:Our room was close to the pools and we had good wifi reception.

Review 31:food is extremely for the beds are very uncomfortable and need to be replaced the whole entire place needs a whole new face live including brand new decent beds and upgraded televisions

Review 32:so pools are awesome

Review 33:Broken and very old furniture in the room. Lots of noise. The pools are open to the public and they were overrun both weeknights we were there with loud drunks and their children. Entire facility needed to be renovated 15 years ago. Some of the baths in the ruins of Rome are in better shape.

Review 34:Lots of spas. Restaurant was fine and ate there multiple times. Staff was short-handed but friendly when you were friendly.

Review 35:We were given one of the worst possible rooms. The tv wad about 19", the bed wad horrible, the sheets very old andvthe toilet wouldnt flush. We went next door to Miracle Hot Springs and the moved us the next morning. The difference was incredible, like going from the Bates motel to a 4 star resort...Blows me away yhatb these to properties are owned by the same company.

Review 36:The Restaurant was very good.

Review 37:there was nothing i can complain about

Review 38:the staff was very helpful and professional, like a family away from home. met many wonderful people from all walks of life and countries. the water was amazing, took the load of life away for a while.

Review 39:Arrived at what should have been a 3 star property. Lady at desk was wearing leggings and pumps. Went to toilet in reception and the floors were wet and dirty. Directed to our room and the hallway had a very bad smell and was littered. Inside was in need of decoration. Shared balcony which caused a lot of noise with kids running up and down. We were told wifi was faulty We didn't stayed the night and reception offered is the hotel next door.

Review 40:The pools constantly had garbage in them. Cups, cigarette butts, etc. This hotel is open to the community for day use so it is packed with locals. Do not plan on a relaxing pool experience. I have young kids so I understand loud but I was not loving loud and disgusting.

Review 41:The personal was not really nice, it was not always possible to get the simplest favor. It was not possible to leave the luggage after check out. Low level holidays for local and "semi"-local people.

Review 42:WiFi free, but not always working Bed was great and the room was big

Review 43:The place looked nothing like the picture. We went during one of the busiest weekends/weeks so price was high for the amenities.

Review 44:The staff was super friendly and accommodating. My 13 year old son and his friend loved the Karaoke and breakfast.

Review 45:The place is a little run down, and would require some new furniture. If you want to find a quiet place, this is not where to go - the spa area faces all guest rooms, and is open to the guest even at night.

Review 46:Beds are fine, but rooms are hopelessly outdated and need so much to bring t hem up to what the price implies. Hairdryer was missing, light bulbs flopping in sockets, no desk chair or materials about area activities. Pool chairs needed redoing.

Review 47:Pools were wonderful. The 3 kids especially enjoyed them. Restaurant was old, but had inexpensive, good meals with good service. Great fun karaoke at bar, and kids were allowed til 11:00 p.m. They loved it.

Review 48:Everything else. It was horribly rundown and outdated. The room smelled funny, the carpet and chouch were gross. The guy at the front desk was so useless. And there were a lot of "interesting" locals at the pools that get passes for the day. Don't stay here.

Review 49:The pools were okay, they ranged in temperature and were open 24 hours. But they were also in need of a facelift.

Review 50:There was vomit on our patio and nothing was done to take care of this after three attempts. Later while in the bathroom a large cockroach was on the wall. There was no hot water in our shower. The pool was not only for guest but also for whoever wanted to pay to get in therefore was packed and you were lucky to get a chair .The hot springs were not that hot and needed a cleaning .This " resort" ? was the worst place I have ever stayed at

Review 51:the bed was ok and the television was new they had a band playing good music pool side

Review 52:The room was "funky". Not terribly clean. The bed was dismal

Review 53:The staff was amazing. Very responsive and nice. The pools were lovely and mostly clean

Review 54:Rooms were very run down and shower didn't work. Most of cabinet handles were missing. Tv didn't work. Mirror on wall was missing with huge holes left in place. Very poor condition.

Review 55:Restaurant was good, service was good.

Review 56:It is an older facility, which some people don't lile. I find it charming.

Review 57:Excellent pools...mineral springs good buy for theomey. Lots of locals AMD tourists on weekends.

Review 58:I loved the hot spa's, they are wonderful! And, the hotel staff was also wonderful. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and happy! Also, there is a great restaurant on site-we enjoyed it !

Review 59:We were initially sent to a room that had not been made up. The situation was rectified quickly. There are minor maintenance issues around the facility. There was nothing that would keep me from coming back.

Review 60:Pools were nice and relatively uncrowded. The facility is dated but not in a bad way. The restaurant has good food at a great price. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating.

Review 61:The room was dirty and a bit scary. The carpet was sticky in spots and the furniture needs to be recycled. I will not stay there again.

Review 62:The pools were very warm but the overall maintenance was lacking. looks like the place was built in the 50's. needs to be updated.

Review 63:I didn't Care for the pillows where a flat.the T.V. Really really small And there was no microwave. In the room and. And I personally think that desert hot springs CA. Is a bad area lots of crimes.but if u ca get a good deal. It's worth it.

Review 64:The pools were awesome, the staff where very nice. The rooms were nice and big plenty of space and very clean.

Review 65:Rooms are very old, gates were never closed. I this I we paid to much for why we got

Review 66:Pools are very nice we really liked that the pools are open 24/7

Review 67:the front desk (morning/afternoon shift did there best to accommodate me. I would not stay there again as it is in the ghetto area and there were frequent cop cars and embulance driving by all night and the showers were very bad, we're either extremely cold or hot and the room I was put in was right next to the stairs in which I constantly heard people walking and talking loud outside my room. Mother Nature unfortunately made it very difficult for me to enjoy the mineral spas because there was a horrendous wind/sand storm and was very cold and windy the next day. Overall just the morning/afternoon shift was friendly. No valet parking either so I will not recommend this place to anyone as it is very outdated.

Review 68:needs an upgrade, but that would double the price and probably lose its fun super casual atmosphere, as it's cheap, you gets all sorts of people including weirdos and women who steal your favorite tank top.

Review 69:Best mineral pools, warm and efficient staff, pools of various temperature, good cheap food in cafe, overall great value, the pool monitor Jacob is a professional and his dedication shows.

Review 70:At check in.the cumputers were down..there were plates of food in the hallway,no towels blankets or shower curtain in our room.toilet from 1960 needs replacement.never received our linens or shower curtain as promised.

Review 71:The pools and sauna were open 24"hrs. the pools had different temperatures and were clean The restaurant was good the waitress was very good.the front desk was attentive and apologetic

Review 72:Not having a "do not disturb" sign for the door.

Review 73:The 24/hr mineral pools are always a welcome treat. The view of Mt. San Jacinto is perfect. Nice little get away.

Review 74:Told at check in that the ground floor poolside room was dog friendly and that I was going to be put in a second floor room. When I insisted on staying in the first floor room the clerk wanted to charge me an upgrade fee. I showed her a hard copy of the internet reservation and said no extra charge or I would be making phone calls. The poolside room did not have any dog odors. It cost $84. Anyone without reservations were paying $139

Review 75:The natural hot springs tubs and pool

Review 76:Noisy rock band played until 10 pm which made for and evening of virtually no quiet relaxing time in the hot mineral pools.

Review 77:Busy bustling with family with small unattended children and smokers! Beware although they advertise non-smoking we awoke to the unpleasant aroma of cigarette smoke!

Review 78:This hotel has not been renovated since it's opening over 60 years ago. When we arrived I told them I had a broken foot and needed to be on the ground floor (they have no elevators). They told us that we would have to pay a supplement of 20 dollars a night to be on the ground floor. When we got into the room, EVERYTHING was as old as the hills. The dresser drawers were broken. The telephone even had a layer of dirt on it. It curtains looked as if they'd never been cleaned. Even the sign outside the hotel was a warning. It looked like something out of an old haunted hotel. Do NOT stay here and if you do don't pay more than 10 dollars a night. That is what it's worth. If that.

Review 79:Rooms were old mattress was really old. Smelled like pee.

Review 80:Pools were great. Not super clean but decent. Rooms and beds were beat. Bar/restaurant were cheap and good.

Review 81:Way too many kids coming in on day use, very noisy and parents letting them run around , and yelling everywhere see more like a city pool, then relaxing getaway. Partys out with a karaoke machine until 3 o'clock. Staff needs to do a better job, enforcing the rules

Review 82:Nice pool and hot tubs,

Review 83:Staff was rude, room was filthy, the pool area was poorly maintained. Not worth the money that it cost.

Review 84:The Café was great, they had good food large portions and best of all great prices.

Review 85:The bed was the single worst bed I have ever tried and failed to sleep on in a hotel. It felt like box springs with a comforter tossed over them, Horrible.

Review 86:The mineral water pools were wonderful.

Review 87:"Hot" spring wasn't hot enough to get us into them

Review 88:Hard to find the office when driving in.

Review 89:It was available on a New Years Eve.

Review 90:Room smelled bad and dirty floor Balcony not private Room location Dirty pools and facilities Had to switch over to Miracle Spa next door

Review 110:Different pool

Review 111:24 hour pools are great. We even saw a road runner bird.

Review 112:staff totally unprofessional

Review 113:Rooms, furniture, and amenities need to be upgraded.

Review 114:A lot of pools so it wasn't very crowded. Also, pools were different temperatures as well.

Review 115:bed was not comfortable

Review 116:patio room

Review 117:The sink had natts on it, the shower was a dying sprinkler, and the bed sucked!
