Reviews for Two Bunch Palms Resort & Spa
Review 1:Ying and Yang. A quiet and peaceful 1950’s throwback spa experience with a few issues. You can’t beat the tranquility of the large clean grounds and the uber yoga spirit. Our cottage had been upgraded and the one bedroom, living room and private patio with fire-pit was comfortable. The restaurant is organic and locally sourced and staff—all property staff—pleasant. If you don’t mind begging for another cup of coffee try breakfast—the wait staff gracious but the side help, helpless. If you’ve read other reviews this place has been upgraded and attention upgraded since then but there are still paint chips in the hot water spaces because it’s inevitable but not disturbing. Don’t bother trying to call the front desk they don’t answer. Internet access is finicky…No, spotty… No, unreliable. A few repeaters on the property would make a big 2015 quality difference. Fitness center is a dump with three old machines and weights in a tight closet space. The list of fixits in our room shouldn’t have required us to bring it to management’s attention. Night one we couldn’t use the bath because the tub drain was broken and the water temperature was only “tepid” all week—confirmed by the maintenance man who we had to call within 30 minutes of checkin. A walk around the perimeter exposes trash and construction debris piled around and not pretty. We had to call housekeeping at 5pm one evening because they missed us that day. The next day we called early service as a precaution and they were there in a flash—ying and yang. We stayed in one of the older yet refreshed units and there appear to be new bright units we didn’t get a chance to see. The Illy coffee machine in our room is very European but not 2015 standards where Keurigs are everywhere and coffee is plentiful. We loved picking out own tangerines, oranges and grapefruit from the orchards. And don’t count on sending out any laundry—doesn’t exist. They make it up with massive yoga and mindlefulness classes. don’t need...
Review 2:The spa services are quite expansive and the staff attentive. The spa space is tight, a bit tattered, and most likely not what you’re used to in a simple day spa back home. If you’re used to a hippy living hand-me-down space you’ll like it. The waters are clean and hot. The pool area immaculate and towels a plenty. The restaurant is organic and locally sourced and staff—all property staff—pleasant. We loved picking out own tangerines, oranges and grapefruit from the orchards.
Review 3:1) on-site restaurant offered meager portions of unsatisfying and overpriced fare 2) Solstice King room located at the opposite end of the property from the pools (approx. 10-minute walk)
Review 4:1) the "grotto" hot springs 2) clean facilities 3) relaxing atmosphere
Review 5:The facilities were very nice, however, we were a little surprised that the mud baths were out of order. A bit disappointing, but otherwise the experience as a whole was very positive.
Review 6:The spa is overdue for a remodel and upgrade. The grounds are a little tired and could use some TLC.
Review 7:We had a restful and peaceful stay. We loved the overall quiet atmosphere of the resort. Our remodeled room was fantastic. The spa treatments were excellent. We had dinner and lunch in the restaurant and both were delicious. The staff were accommodating.
Review 8:Exceeded my wildest dreams. A true, meditative spa experience. Staff was VERY GENEROUS with their time. The restaurant, Essence, is truly 5 star. Nothing could have prepared me for the serenity and everyone walking about in the white robe . Removed all pretenses and equalized everyone.
Review 9:Spa was okay- The prices were very high and the facilities were very basic. We had a couples massage in what was basically a cabin. My massage was just okay- not as good as what I'm used to.
Review 10:Restaurant on site was amazing, mineral waters were great, yoga classes were great.
Review 11:Only recommendation would be a more diverse menu at the restaurant. Dinner was good but all fancy foods like filet and duck and priced high.
Review 12:Such a great getaway! It's on a beautiful compound and so relaxing! A fun experience to try something new.
Review 13:The only negative is that the spa services are very pricey, but not out of line for this type of spa hotel. I actually booked a massage outside the spa for a fraction of the price and I was very happy with that.
Review 14:I LOVED this resort. It is a quiet, zen, relaxing type of place. If you are looking for a wild party resort, this is NOT it, but I very much enjoyed the tranquil space. Staff was AMAZING, very friendly and helpful.
Review 15:Every single thing - from the property to the staff, the treatments. This is truly an oasis where guests are made to feel that they are special. The classes were lovely, the menu at the restaurant delightful and of course, the waters are healing and soothing.
Review 16:The food wasn't that great for the amount of money spent.... There were several sizeable cockroaches in the bathroom.... On the last day there was a three hour powerfailure which is hard to understand when they have an extremely large solar system ? Then at check out there was a $55.00 change for taxes and resort fees which wasn't mentioned in booking.com nor at check in? The powerfailure for three hours there should have been some sort of compensation for....?
Review 17:It was a very beautiful resort.... Well kept....
Review 18:Loved the peaceful, serene, laid back style....no stress. Awesome spa treatments, and the grotto is heaven. My husband loved feeding the ducks, turtles, and fish! Everyone who works here seems really happy and nice! Excellent meals at Essence. I was here 25 yrs ago, and its even better now with the new improvements. We'll be back soon, cant wait!!
Review 19:Time ticked too fast-
Review 20:The feeling we were the only ones on the planet...the level of detail & expertise from all staff behind the scenes as well as on the front line...thank you for making this one of the most amazing weekends our lives-
Review 21:>bed wasn't properly made, two fitted sheets "popped out" and curled up when we hit the bed >Towels were hidden and no staff present when in hot tub >furniture was a mix of classy and Costco
Review 22:hot spa mud bath Qi Gong with Michael
Review 23:Service was slow slow slow! We had to wait almost an hour for our roomto be ready. We waited at a table for over 15 minutes at breakfastbefore even being given a menu. The hot springs would be much nicer ifthe area didn't have wet towels on every table, chair, and flatsurface. It looked like there had been a teenage pool party and everysingle person had just left their towel. Really a turn-off in such abeautiful place.
Review 24:The nature and serenity found here are worth the trip. This is abeautiful location. The food at the restaurant was excellent and theambiance is fabulous with an absolutely beautiful view almost anywhereyou sit. The bartender is great! Wish I remembered his name. He was alot of fun and gave helpful suggestions.
Review 25:What's not to like? A little new-agey for us (which was a source of much amusement) -- and if you're into that kind of stuff, enjoy!
Review 26:Quiet comfort, lush green gardens, mineral pools, friendly bar/restaurant with great drinks and pretty good food.
Review 27:In 3 days I saw two people with cell phones. I wanted to see none.
Review 28:Allows you to let go of all your worries, contemplate what ever you wish with great food. Never left the property.
Review 29:The noise of the construction. The location of our room was deceiving according to the website. It looked like our room was going to be closer to the pools.
Review 30:Beautiful resort. The staff was pleasant.
Review 31:Restaurant did not impress. It is pricey and portions are very small for the price.
Review 32:The facility is well taken care of. Staff is wonderful and the atmosphere is great.
Review 33:Grotto was wonderful. The grounds are wonderful. The food was very good. I liked going to the yoga class.
Review 34:food very expensive
Review 35:Grotto,grounds, staff
Review 36:Relaxing, intimate, child-free environment. A rarity indeed and highly valued.
Review 37:Great bed, one of a kind natural feature (hot springs), view of the valley from the dining room superb.
Review 38:Restaurant was sub par. Food and service were terrible
Review 39:Relaxing, restful, waters were great
Review 40:The bed
Review 41:The Grotto and resturant
Review 42:The room and particularly the bathroom, response from front desk/housekeeping to problems suboptimal.
Review 43:The grounds and relaxation areas
Review 44:Hot pools
Review 45:It's and oasis in middle of the dessert. The classes and the staff and great. I love the grounds of the hotel.
Review 46:one missed wakeup call
Review 47:Awesome service staff, amazing spa treatments (we had three).
Review 48:Liked that it was a "quiet" resort...they had little-known signs that said, "please speak softly." and people respected it.
Review 49:Room was amazing, staff friendly, grounds are beautiful & great restaurant
Review 50:room decor
Review 51:amazing grotto
Review 52:Loved the waters. Loved the casual, quiet atmosphere. Loved the clean, spacious room and private patio. Very relaxing and refreshing experience.
Review 53:Relaxing in mineral pools
Review 54:Restaurant service was consistently poor, food was average - the spa was tired in appearance - common areas were not kept clean
Review 55:Therapists
Review 56:The landscaping around the pool needs some help.
Review 57:Everything
Review 58:great spa, huge room, great services..
Review 59:What no olives for my martini? Spa staff -- well, some staff -- were notvery helpful. I probably would have spent more on product but, they justsat and watched me without offering an explanation or assistance. Thisis a beautiful, historic spot....I Would have enjoyed learning moreabout it through reading material or signs. What's up with theindian chief in front? No sunscreen? Class scheduling seems a bit iffy at times...staff would tell me one thing and something different would actually happen...like the location of the class. Sunday people were very disrespectful of house rules of quiet. I didn't want to be the one to say anything but, it was uncomfortable to hear an inebriated man talk about his relationship with his father...too much information.
Review 60:Loved the classes! Mineral waters. Lunch and dinner were fabulous!!
Review 61:The grounds were beautiful. Feeding the turtles was so nice, they were very friendly. We will definitely be coming back and staying for a longer stay,
Review 62:The room was old looking and tile on the floor not very clean(grout was gray). The toilet was made for a midget (like 1 foot tall). For these prices I don't expect fancy but at least contemporary fixtures and not so 70's "bad".
Review 63:The grounds and location are AMAZING. Once in a lifetime magical spot that should be on everyone's bucket list. The massages were relaxing and we never left the grounds or got out of our robes. That was NICE.
Review 64:Pool noodles and other floating junk in the pool. This really detracted from an otherwise pristine, beautiful place. People can do without!
Review 65:Room, pool, grounds, resturant
Review 66:The hotel put a hold on my card for $450.00 for a room that cost $167.00, we only stayed one night, so that seemed a bit over the top.
Review 67:We really liked the mineral spa and the restaurant. Other than that it desperately needs a make over. I felt like I stepped back into the 70's, But not in a good way.
Review 68:The only meal that seemed lacking was the lunch which seemed less of a value considering the price and the fact that the other meals were very good and seemed worth the price.
Review 69:The "grotto" area is wonderful and peaceful-- the sound of cascading water and the palm trees overhead make this a magical experience. The staff for the spa treatments were professional and caring. Our room was very clean (and the coffee machine was a nice addition for those who have not kicked the coffee habit). The restaurant and bar have been recently renovated. The breakfasts, the dinners and the drink we had were actually very good-so good in fact that after one meal in Palm Springs we decided to have more meals at Two Bunch Palms. The view of the mountains is beautiful and the service was friendly and welcoming. We also enjoyed watching the resident egret, roadrunners, ducks and turtles. A very peaceful and relaxing retreat. Overall, we were extremely pleased with our stay and look forward to an opportunity to return.
Review 70:Love the new remodeling that has been done at the resort....seems that the staff training has been upgraded as well. The new hammocks by the pond were delightful too!
Review 71:do not order rack of lamb, it had only 3 ribs, ordered eggs benedict but they were out of English muffins, service was bad , out of two wines we ordered , when to Casa Blanca for great Mexican up the street
Review 72:spa services ,
Review 73:There weren't any staff oversight of the Grotto area where guests are supposed to whisper. There were a few guests who didn't abide by the rules and were inebriated and decided to throw a football around. The other problem is during the night, there were a lot of cockroaches that came out. They really need to get their pest problem under control.
Review 74:It's a rustic resort so don't expect 5 stars facilities, but that's also part of its charm as it has been around for Al Capone to enjoy...allegedly. I've been here several times and it's always a great relaxing getaway!
Review 75:We found that the WiFi did not work well...at least for us.
Review 76:We liked the quietness and serenity there. The grounds are lovely and the pools are very clean and enjoyable. The restaurant is very nice...good food.
Review 77:The property is much too crowded to be the serene environment that it used to be many years ago. The property facilities are run down and old and need to be updated. The staff was not very accommodating like they used to be. Housekeeping was very loud.
Review 78:The large backyard in the unit and the overall grounds are very serene and nice.
Review 79:I paid the same amount for a substandard room as I did last time for thegreat grotto retro room near the grotto. It was advertised as a grottoroom but was very tired cramped and ugly
Review 80:Grotto is great .. Charming old resort.. Great property and wonderfulhot mineral waters
Review 81:I didn't like the service in the restaurant. A hosts set us out sideand left w/out letting the staff know. We waited a long time to getanything plus the smell of the sewage kept coming up from somewhere thatwe had move back inside the restaurant. Besides the bad experience wehad in the restaurant over all my parents were pleased.
Review 82:I liked the friendly staff at the check in office. Mineral water poolsand the nice wild life like scenery made me feel very relaxed. Also itwas a nice personal touch for them to remember my dads birthday andplaced a bottle of wine in his room with a nice card.
Review 83:Most of the staff were amazingly thoughtful and friendly. A few wereperfunctory. The room had a refrigerator bottom that kept falling on thefloor and the maid service didn't seem careful: We weren't givenfresh beach towels, nor were we told to ask for them. The one thing Ireally didn't like was the dinner we had, and this was shockingconsidering the level of care in other areas and the elite nature of TwoBunch Palms. The shrimp were tough and none of the salad vegetables werefresh, except for a tomato that was mealy. The dinner was so bad, infact, that we made a point of going to Palm Springs to eat, although thestaff seemed completely unaware of good restaurants when we asked. LaterI asked why there were so few good restaurants, and was told "Weencourage people to stay here and soak up the atmosphere, so most peopleeat here." It was hard for me to believe that people who work inthe movie industry would eat this sort of food. Perhaps they do. But thequality was truly below par. A simple breakfast of eggs was good and thecoffee was excellent. It was the only meal we ate there, so with dinnerin Palm Springs we ate two meals a day.
Review 84:The spa is geared toward privacy and solitude--clearly designed to avoidobligatory and often stressful socializing that happens at resorts.Thegrounds are beautifully designed--so the lush, manmade oasis blends withthe desert and the mountains. There's incredible variety in thedesign, ranging from lakes with ducks to hot springs. The spa facilitiesare without peer.
Review 85:The rooms left something to be desired for the price. It is not thatanything was 'wrong,' the bed was comfortable, the room wasclean and well appinted, but the decor seemed out of place and the roomwas worn. Functional but less than luxurious. I would stay here again, however, because the spa is so nice.
Review 86:Grotto pool was a perfect relaxing oasis. It was nice to have twoadjacent pools (different temperatures), and I like that these tranquilspaces are very much designed for relaxation and contemplation.
Review 87:We stayed in the Grotto villas and they desperately need to be updated.I'm just speaking for this area as some other villas in other partsof the resort look more modern. But for the price, please update yourrooms. The door on our refrigerator had been replaced with plywood forHeaven's sake. The rooms are dimly lit and tv and appliances areout of date.
Review 88:Their staff is wonderful and we couldn't ask for friendlier peopleand more accomodating people. The resort is quiet and every type of spaexperience is available.
Review 89:Everything was perfect. The staff were incredibly attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them.
Review 90:Having to leave is the worst part.
Review 91:Loved relaxing environment. You don't need to leave until checkout. Great weekend getaway.
Review 92:Daily resort fee is a bit high.
Review 93:Quiet....and the ambiance is fantastic!
Review 94:the restaurant was top notch but chef left,, they are trying to find a new one
Review 95:historic, peaceful, great Lithium mineral water, great massages
Review 96:Cockroaches in our room. Staff was unaccommodating and rude. Facilities were ancient / not renovated.
Review 97:Grounds are beautiful.
Review 98:The grotto
Review 99:Tired room!!!
Review 100:I left early and didn't even stay.
Review 101:The rooms had the most awful / tasteless decor!!!!
Review 102:In an effort to upgrade, the prices are getting out of my reach.
Review 103:Beautiful grounds and concept.
Review 104:Resort fee
Review 105:Quite, hot spring, relaxation
Review 106:The grotto was amazing!
Review 107:I would have liked to upgrade my room
Review 108:Spa and Grotto
Review 109:the mineral baths, privacy, peacefulness. lakes, food
Review 110:I liked everything about it!!
Review 111:Gave my Spouse Bottle of Wine for Her Birthday, upgraded our Room for$30 and let us stay an extra 6 Hours.
