Reviews for Bushwise Safari Lodge
Review 1:It was unseasonably warm for October. Make sure you get a map of Marloth Park from the Security Office at the shopping centre.
Review 2:Location is on the Crocodile River. You can sip a drink in the pool and watch elephants bath in the river. Sleep with just the screen door closed and drop off to the noise of the bush and hippos grunting.
Review 3:We have been to Sabi Sands private game lodges twice (yes, top choice if you have the money). We have been to Kruger Sanpark lodges 5 times (you are ready to get out of gates as the sun rises but although the lodges are now better than 10 years ago, they are still sort of basic...). Marloth Park and Bushwise lodge provided us a nice alternative. Less than 30 min drive from the Crocodile Bridge gate, in the bush, overlooking Kruger park - not a bad alternative. The host Tim was very friendly and helpful, the rooms, the bar, the dinner by a boma were enjoyable. But the best bit was a walk by the river with nice animal encounters. We saw giraffes, impalas, warthogs in very close range. And hippos and and buffalos on the other side of the fence. Other people have also seen elephants and even lions by the river...
Review 4:The location is amazing with views to the Kruger National park. The plunge pool and veradah with the bar bar are great. Dinner under the stars was incredible. You can walk within Marloth Park and see giraffes, babboons, zebras and impala. We got to see the bif 5 on our safari within kruga
Review 5:We were made to sit with other guests at the table during meals. While travelling with my wife in celebration of our anniversary we wanted to be alone and we found ourselves needing to be 'nice' to other guests at the table. That was very inconvenient for us.
Review 6:It's well located within Marloth Park. From the balcony we saw all sorts of animals across the Kruger fence on the banks of the crocodile river (herd of elephants, lions, giraffes, hippos, etc.).
Review 7:Could do with a small sign to assist in finding the place as the entrance is rather tucked away in another street and I drove past it a few times and had to be assisted in finding the place.
Review 8:Spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated. Staff were interesting and friendly and I was made very welcome. The food was good and plenty of it.
Review 9:the food was very good but the quantity for me was too much
Review 10:the staff new what they where talking about with regards to wildlife and knew where to look for game
Review 11:Splash pool was great on the hot days!
Review 12:It was great, food excellent and fantastic hospitality
Review 13:Great location on the edge of the Kruger National Park. Helpful and friendly staff. Good selection of tours available from the Lodge.
Review 14:nothing
Review 15:I loved the location, the perfect level of comfort and decor, as well as the staff.
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:Great place to stay! Bush walk around the hotel, and still seeing tons of animals both inside Marloth Park and across the river in Kruger Park
Review 18:lack of signage on the road
Review 19:Everything pity it was just an overnight definetly recommend
Review 20:Location and views. Friendliness of the owners. Efficiency of the staff.
Review 21:Pfff, 300 rand for wifi :-(((
Review 22:Excellent location, nice staff, good food. Near to Krüger (~15mins drive)
Review 23:The friendly staff, great facilities and location.
Review 24:Location on the river to see animals strolling past you.
Review 25:Perfect for a weekend breakaway and amazing staff
Review 26:Stay was too short, perhaps breakfast could be a little more imaginative
Review 27:Brilliant and perfect setting for an amazing bush experience
Review 28:The location face to the Crocodile river
Review 29:If you have a wild card and want to take advantage of Kruger National Park it is quite a distance from Crocodile Gate eg 30 minutes each way.
Review 30:A very welcoming friendly establishment.Has locally available game drives. Excellent breakfast and evening meal in a relaxed and authentic South African bush atmosphere. Since there is no light pollution the view of the stars at night is amazing!
Review 31:The bathrooms, carpets in the bedrooms and bathrooms, no fresh bathmat , blocked drain in showers, tired fabric on linen and curtains.
Review 32:The setting, the staff, the dinner in the boma.
Review 33:I have booked this lodge due to the high rating on booking.com, which so far never really disappointed me - unfortunately up until now... I can hardly understand the 9+ rating and comments... Maybe it was off-season and no one really cared about us, being the only guests at that day/night. However, the "welcome" was basically: here are your keys, dinner outside is at x pm.... The food served was ok - but nothing special. The room was also "ok", but also not very nicely decorated and actually run down. But it was quiet at least. The breakfast was one of the smallest and simplest breakfast I ever had in South Africa. And all this for a too high price of 1.900R. There are many many other lodges at Marloth Park that outperform this lodge.
Review 34:nothing really.....
Review 35:Feeling in complete armony with the nature: wonderful landscape, perfect service, good food, lovely dinner arounf the fire in the Boma sharing the day experiences with other guests, friendly staff and no TV! All you need if you love nature and pure relax!
Review 36:The address provided by Booking is wrong (right street, wrong town, thatmeans that one ends up at a 30 km distance, possibly in the middle ofthe night!!), the staff at Bushwise is aware of that and nonethelessdoes nothing (they inform neither Booking nor the customer). Even withfinally the right address on the gps, not really easy to find, some 15-20 km (depending from which side you take it) on a (very!) dirt road...A nightmare, done in the dark with little certainty of the address. Theplace is amazing but if you stay just one night forget it: the effort toreach it is not paid back. You pay for half board (no other choice inthe area, so that's good), but the quality is really basic.
Review 37:The lodge is very nice (as a country-side home) and the staff friendly. The room is comfortable (air conditioning, anti-mosquitos electricdevice) and sleep quality is guaranteed.
Review 38:I would have liked to have coffee and tea facilities in the room as Iget up early in the morning and want my coffee first thing when I get upALSO A TV WOULD HAVE BEEN WELCOMED IF NOT IN ROOMS THEN MAIN LOUNGE
Review 39:Bedding was very bad.
Review 40:It is indeed not at the level of 4 star. At most 3 star. The rates should be broad in line with 3 star.
Review 41:The location, close to Kruger Game Park
Review 42:The great hospitality and atmosphere
Review 43:Excellent value, knowledgeable guide, all needs catered for, lovely open deal and pool.
