Reviews for Beluga Lake Lodge
Review 1:The front office person was rude when i asked about the size of the bed she said, i could measure it for you if you want?. Also the bath tub fixtures were dirty, like it only gets a quick wipe down and not a good clean up close along edges.
Review 2:I only stayed one night!
Review 3:The jets in the bathtub were dirty. The box spring cover was not clean....black hair and thick dust. There was some sort of water exchange box on the wall that made noise.
Review 4:Normally my family and friends choose to stay here.
Review 5:There was no air conditioning, but we normally don't need that here in Alaska. Room was hot at night making it difficult to sleep.
Review 6:They provided a fan in the room to help cool things off. Restaurant was amazing! All staff on property were super friendly . They really cater to the many fisher people who come to Homer to fish. Quiet and friendly, what more can you ask for!
Review 7:room was a little on the tight side but served it's purpose..
Review 8:Staff was very helpful. i had a fish catch that needed to be kept in a freezer until I could ship it out the next day. Your staff took care of it..
Review 9:If you are travelling without a vehicle then it is a distance to the spit & old town. No public transport in homer so need to hitch or take a taxi (Katchacab) were reliable & quick to arrive. Downstairs rooms can be noisy with people upstairs or noisy snorers in next room. Also no option to get breakfast or lunch on site but there is a snack/drinks machine
Review 10:Friendly, helpful staff, great restaurant/bar for dinner on site, clean, comfy beds
Review 11:The housekeeping lacked detail. Used soap and shampoo were left and I had to ask to have my room made up for my second night. Also the door and lock were in need of repair.
Review 12:The staff were pleasant.
Review 13:The advertisements made it seem that my room would have a kitchenette, but it had only a refrigerator and a small microwave. It still worked out alright, but I could not cook the food that I had brought along.
Review 14:The location was good for birders with easy access to town as well as the spit.
Review 15:The staff found out we were coming for our anniversay weekend and upgraded us to a Suite - the staff there are wonderful, great time, great experience!
Review 16:Location, service, rules and price for the place.
Review 17:I really did not like the hotel. Noisy, small room, pricy for the quality of the place. Very uncomfortable bed and pillows.
Review 18:Nothing
Review 19:The lodge worked with our needs by checking us in early, and recommending a good breakfast restaurant. I will stay there again and recommend it to my friends.
Review 20:Traffic on the road by the hotel. They were doing construction and working at night. We could not sleep for the noise
Review 21:Room was nice, Staff was very friendly
Review 22:their was no place for you to sit out of the rain and enjoy the view. There was not one spot that the three of us women in our group, while the men fished, could sit and visit. The restaurant and bar was closed till 3 pm, so you were not suppose to go in their. The main lady at the lodge was very rude and acted like she could care less as to what we said. I was going to leave a comment slip on what I thought would improve the sitting issues, and was told by her the owner wouldn`t read it anyway. The other two gals at the front desk could not have been nicer, the made our stay enjoyable. The rooms were so small that you could not even sit . Bonnie Great Falls
Review 23:I really liked some of the help, the bed was comfortable, the view of the lake was really nice.
Review 24:Desk clerk was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area and things to do. Continental Breakfast was excellent (Don't miss the waffles). Location great and close to everything!
Review 25:Ventilation to cool the room was provided by windows only. One window had no screen. Rooms were a bit too warm.
Review 26:Very comfortable with two separate bedrooms. Breakfast was very nice with lots of choices.
Review 27:Small, dark room in basement with high window that looked out onto a pile of rocks. We were told if we changed the room would be noisy on the highway.
Review 28:The breakfasts and location.
Review 29:We paid $189.00 for a tiny room in the lower level. The "view" was a ground level pile of rocks outside and the parked vehicles. We complained about the value -- to which she replied, "You had a choice when you made the reservation". I had viewed a notice at the front desk about discounts for AARP and AAA and told her we were members of both. She stated that she wouldn't do anything and we would have to settle that with whoever we had the reservation with. We then requested the other side of the hall (we were already told there were no rooms available above ground.) Initially she stated she had nothing across the hall and as I was leaving, she "discovered" an available room. It was just as tiny but had a ground level view of the road and inlet. We told her that $189 for a room so tiny there was no place for our suitcase was ridiculous and
Review 30:The restaurant staff was delightful and the food was delicious. Absolutely outstanding, in fact.
Review 31:Room was small. No coffee in room
Review 32:easy to find and reasonable accommodations. Friendly staff (owners)
Review 33:Value for the money.
Review 34:Location and availability.
Review 35:none
Review 36:location
Review 37:Over priced for location, need ed new bed, needs noise reduction from road.
Review 38:There was a room
Review 39:Close to fishing, knowledgeable staff
Review 40:View in our room was wonderful and the staff were very friendly.
Review 41:rooms a little warm. but we are alaskans so we are use to cooler temps.
Review 42:clean and a great rate
Review 43:Sometimes cleaning staff didn't come into the room
Review 44:Friendly taff good restaurant
Review 45:The view from the downstairs rooms wasn't good but I guess you get what you pay for
Review 46:It's quiet
Review 47:The pillows were to hard
Review 48:That it was quiet
Review 49:Staff courtesy, location, hotel cat :-P
Review 50:Friendly and helpful staff quiet and comfortable room
Review 51:A terrible place to stay. Avoid if possible,
Review 52:Liked nothing, really.
Review 53:Breakfast staff rude. Paper thin walls. Rooms quite dark and lack of ventilation
Review 54:Location, reception staff were very pleasant.
Review 55:Breakfast could have been better more choices
Review 56:Not many amenities. A little noisy. A little pricey for what we got. Small room
Review 57:Location
Review 58:Needed black out curtains
Review 59:Quaint and comfy
Review 60:noise from above in the restaurant.
Review 61:Bed was comfortable and we had a view of the lake.
Review 62:The lack of amenities and the smallness of the room.
Review 63:Mostly the location and the view.
Review 64:No A/C,restaurant.
Review 65:Position and kindness of the staff.
Review 66:The food selection.
Review 67:I liked the location, convenient to town and the spit both. The room was a little small, but otherwise comfortable.
Review 68:We are led to believe that the hotel overlooks the lake, but in all reality, the hotel overlooks a bog next to the lake (the lake is across the road). The hotel is quite noisy. Both days, I was woken up by rowdy fisherman hanging out in the parking lot at 5 am. We could hear EVERY step that was made by the people upstairs. Like most hotels in Alaska, they don't have AC, however, unlike most hotels, they don't have a fan in the room to help cool down. The room is super small. I know that hotel rooms aren't typically large, but this is comparable to what one would stay in on a cruise ship.
Review 69:The staff was extremely nice and the place was very clean. The hotel has a bar/restaurant upstairs.
Review 70:The office closed early. We were on a fishing charter that ran long and I called to let them know I would be late. Good thing, the office was closed when I got there. The lady on the phone was excellent! She checked me in and provided instructions for getting into my room. I had no trouble at all when I arrived.
Review 71:For the area, the room was very spacious with thoughtful amenities given the location and attractions of the area. The staff was very helpful and accommodating to my late arrival.
Review 72:They charged the card I used to book the room prior to my check in. That's the card I use online, with a small balance so if its compromised its not a total loss of funds. Reservation said card would not be charged. I was quite suprised by that. Lastly, only two small pillows on bed and no extras located in the room. Two small pilliows are not enough for us.
Review 73:Clean room. We we're only in it for 6 hours so didn't use any of the facilities really but they had coffee available at 6am so bravo... I didn't know we'd be bringing our two poodles until we left home. The room wasn't an animal friendly one but they allowed us our dogs anyway. That was great, and nice to know it had pet friendly rooms for us dog lovers. I'd book this place again.
Review 74:People could be heard very easily through walls. We were awakened by people in next room several times who were talking.
Review 75:Friendly staff, nice room, very clean, lake right outside. Very good food in restaurant attached to lodge.
Review 76:A little run down but very clean.
Review 77:Staff were great! Excellent location; great view of Sleugh and Lake and close to spit and town so biking was easy. Hotel looks a bit run down, but the staff and location make it great. It was clean. And what a deal!!!- it was less than half of any other place at $69! Can't beat that! Will stay there again.
Review 78:Very loud with workers having a tailgate party in the parking lot outside our room until quite late and up at dawn to start their trucks headed to work. The worst hotel experience I have ever had.
Review 79:I didn't like the time i spent at the hotel,it was to short. I which i could stay longer.
Review 80:IT is in the right place (spot) for going to the beach, near downtown, with excellent service.
Review 81:N/a ...nothing to report....except, perhaps if there was a nightlight in the bathroom area, it woulda made it easier to make my way in the dark. .....
Review 82:ALL the staff was wonderful: Front desk, the restaurant/lounge, maid service...even the kitties Beluga and PJ! We enjoyed their enthusiasm for sharing their local knowledge with us. The room was clean and cozy. We had wifi, mircowave, fridge, stocked amenities for the shower, even a fan to cool the room. The location was perfect, right between Homer and the Spit.....couldn't be more centrally located without being in a noisy part of town.
Review 83:Windows were dirty. Window proximity to parking lot made for a noisy environment. Lack of air conditioning required me to keep the wndow open for comfort. The fan provided was loud on it's lowest setting and the TV volume too low so that the TV was not audible when the fan was operating.
Review 84:Price and location
Review 85:The room was under a bar and the tables and chairs were slammed aroundas well as heavy walking until 11pm, then they opened it for breakfastat 6am...really sucked..
Review 86:Room was nice, small but clean
Review 87:The breakfast buffet was over an hour late. Nobody told mgmt theirsupplies were running low so one morning the srlection was quite sparce. The buffet was in their bar and it was extremely hot in there every morning.
Review 88:It was a bit loud due to construction workers in the building.
Review 89:I liked the layout of the room. They had two separate rooms with queen size beds with a bathroom in the hallway separating the bedrooms. This was nice for our family with two older children.
Review 90:The cleaning staff was extremely aggressive in trying to get daily tipseven though they didn't clean the room or even make the bed. Bottleof used shampoo were left in the bathroom. Towels were not replaced whenleft on the bath edge. The bed was not remade.
Review 91:The place was friendly and easy to access.
Review 92:Not a very nice view like what what was stated on the web site and it is not on the lake like I thought. There was a awful sewer smell going on. Not sure what it was from. It was so strong it woke us up the second night. Had to shut the window. I would give them another try though.
Review 93:I thought the staff was really friendly. It is close to the spit which was nice. Rooms were very clean. Food was very good.
Review 94:A little road noise, windows that don't open very far.
Review 95:This property was clean and well-run. The continental breakfast, while not lavish, was more than we expected. It was obvious that the owners of this older property have done their best to update the palce and make it comfortable and inviting.
Review 96:They have a great continental breakfast that we health-nuts loved. And the lady in charge was quite friendly and helpful to us when weasked questions about the area, etc. I liked the whirlpool tub in ourroom, also!
Review 97:The smell of the area was horrible, you couldn't open the window atall. The room was very very small, the electrical cord was a power stripand was hanging from the wall and fell off more then once. The breakfastwas a surprise but very limited. The girl working it was not friendly atall, never even acknowledge our presence. Just walked by without sayinga single word, which I thought was very rude.
Review 98:That they took our dog, but also charged 10.50 for her which I thoughtwas ridiculous.
Review 99:the wall of the hotel is too thin, too many pot holes, the beds look and feel old when laying on it, the front door of the office smells like pet's poop
Review 100:the lake view, the country style look, spacious rooms...
Review 101:The bed was not comfortable, it was hard & hurt my back. The blankets needs upgrade it did not smell fresh but it was still clean. Otherwise the kids did not complain
Review 102:We booked a 4QB room for my family of 7 & it was a perfect size! My kids enjoyed having their own rooms, TV & lots of space to move around. Front desk lady was very pleasant. Location was quiet & convient. I love how it had a kitchen, saved lots of $ cooking food then going out to eat.
Review 103:we had a small room and view to parking lot. for that money we expected better
Review 104:the restaurant had a great view.
Review 105:Room was so small felt like we were sardines stuck in a tin can.
Review 106:Not very friendly!!!
Review 107:What a Great Place to stay, we had cabins and they are perfect the dinner ant was very good as well, will stay again...
Review 108:Rooms too tiny. No breakfast served off season but no mention of this ontheir web site.
Review 109:Clean. Friendly staff

Review 111:location is good, and the room is very comfortable too.
Review 112:The room was very small and was not very clean
Review 113:Food in onsite grill was excellent
Review 114:Facility was quite dated and worn.
Review 115:Staff was friendly - bar/restaurant was good.
Review 116:Walls a bit thin, noisy if your room is below dining room
Review 117:Staff friendly, free coffee, nice view, good value.
