Reviews for Stafford House Bed & Breakfast
Review 1:The room was well appointed and comfortable. We enjoyed use of the fabulous shower as well. Each breakfast served in the privacy of our room was delicious. Staying at Stafford House was the perfect choice while visiting relatives for the holidays.
Review 2:It was easily accessible to major routes, yet quiet and very peaceful. Donna was very pleasant and attentive and quick to attend to our requests. The breakfasts in our room were great. The queen bed was very comfortable.
Review 3:Coffee provided was instant- awful! - with the coffee maker there could have easily been a drip pouch for a far better quality. But a full pot was given at breakfast, so this helped. I did miss a common area, or dining room to have breakfast - being contained to one's room only would have gotten old if you had to stay two or three days.
Review 4:room and bathroom were both large, comfortable and very comfortable breakfast was excellent!! Owner very friendly
Review 5:Wonderful place to stay in Fairfax, Virginia. Right on Rt 123 but well buffered from the street. Nicely appointed, comfortable, great shower, and old-style tub. Good breakfast. I was extremely glad to find an alternative to the rather pedestrian hotels/motels in the area. Note this is not a common-area type b&b (for which I am glad) and bfast is served to you in your room.
Review 6:The Employee was very kind. It's room was very clean. I can't tell everything. Just visit there and feel it. Then you can figure out why that hotel got the highest rate around that area.
Review 7:Nothing to dislike
Review 8:Very welcoming and friendly proprietor. Charming house, beautifully furnished and very comfortable room, with garden terrace. Very good location, pleasant few minutes walk to Fairfax old town centre. Extremely good breakfasts
Review 9:Couldn't stay longer.................
Review 10:The best thing about staying hear was the amazing hospitality of the owner Donna. Nothing was too much for her. The room was excellent and the location was a 6 min walk from the town but still gave you the feeling of being in the country. There is a bus stop right outside the house which will take you to the main transport hubs, no car needed.
Review 11:It is not easy to find the entrance from the road, there is no sign showing where it is and from the side I came, the number of the property was hidden by trees. But I found it any ways.
Review 12:The whole stay was great, but I particularly liked the bathtub and the shower. The place is also very cozy.
Review 13:Only thing I missed was a full length mirror, which you don't always get anyways.
Review 14:Usually we would not stay at a Bed and Breakfast but this was an excellent experience. We had our privacy and a nice homey comfortable atmoshere.
Review 15:The privacy it offered. This place is on the main beat, but yet it is setback from the street with surrounding landscaping that makes you feel like you have your own little oasis,.
Review 16:The staff were amazing and the cozy ambiance of the room with the fireplace was delightful. It was simple old world charm without pretension and lots of character. The shower was epic and the claw foot tub was a definite favorite. The staff spoiled me completely. I'd recommend this place whole heartedly.
Review 17:My husband and I loved everything about this place. From the atmosphere to the upkeep to the grand and beautiful furnishings. The staff greeted us the moment we pulled in. She asked us what time we'd like breakfast the next day and it was there promptly at our chosen time. To our amazement, our breakfast was carted in on a golden cart. Coffee, Juice, Fruit and chocolate pancakes! We will defiantly be staying there again!!!
Review 18:No landline phone in the room. No access to adjust the AC in the room. The lady in charge was very gracious to give us her cell phone whenever we asked for free, and to adjust the AC from a remote site at our request.
Review 19:I felt at home rather than in a hotel. Huge cozy room. Nice furniture. Extremely comfortable bed. Outstanding bathroom. Delicious breakfast served in the room. A very gracious hotel owner + administrator.
Review 20:The breakfast was good, but personally I found that it was too little. This is a big downer in a "bed and breakfast". Admittedly, breakfast is my biggest meal daily (nevertheless, I am not a super big eater who has a limitless stomach) and particularly if I am on vacation, I like to spend time on breakfast and eat as much/long as I want - this was not possible, as I ran out of food pretty soon. To see for yourself if it would be enough for you: You get one plate with something salty (one day it was sausage, one day scrambled eggs and bacon) and something sweet (pancakes on one and a muffin the other day), no toast/bread or anything neutral to go with the salty. There is also a small serving of fruit with it, a glass of OJ and of course coffee or tea (there was ample of that). Next to being rather small, you are only asked about dietary requirements. I think, it would be nicer to be asked about what you actually like to have for breakfast in a bed&breakfast facility (at least about how you like the eggs to be done, etc.) - this is also what I am used to from other B&Bs. Therefore, food quality was good, but choices and quantity was too limited for a B&B. I understand that some people eat less for breakfast, but then ASKING your guests about what/how much they wanted would be easiest. I found the room (queen room) to be a bit cold and dark, it was much nicer to spend time outside on the patio.
Review 21:spacious room and gorgeous bathroom with massage shower and tub (we stayed in the queen room) great location (close to DC, bus stop, walkable to downtown Fairfax with many excellent restaurants) nice patio to have breakfast outside (early, otherwise it gets too sunny and hot in the summer) fridge in the room
Review 22:I was in the area on business but staying at The Stafford House made the trip more leisure than i expected. I slept excellent each night & had a renewed sense of spirit by the time i left.
Review 23:What a lovely surprise. Upon entering the charming large suite complete with in-room dry sauna and large jacuzzi tub, I called my husband and said it was a shame he was not there to enjoy it with me! Highly recommend.
Review 24:the price is too high compare to facilities. no reason to pay so much for a room in an apartment. breakfast poor.
Review 25:Immaculate and beautiful. Owner was sweet and welcoming
Review 26:Amazing place of comfort, like being at home. Could not have asked for it to have been any better.

Review 41:Room / cleanliness Proximity to: - restaurants - Metro - easy to get into DC - Bull Run Battlfields
Review 42:I did no stay long enough
Review 43:The cooperation of the owner to wait for us! We arrived very late due to unexpected activities in route.
Review 44:Lack of nespresso (or similar), Jura (bean to cup) or French press coffee-in-room options. Traffic noise in from garden.
Review 45:Wonderful period bedroom and bathroom decor with house plants. High quality toiletries (no air freshner). Best mattress and mattress topper on the East coast Superb local eating tips from owner. Great location for Merrifield Garden Centre, REI & CostCo. Home from home on Washington trips from now on.
Review 46:I would have preferred to get a little less food for breakfast. It was delicious and I felt bad that I couldn't eat it all.
Review 47:It was so nice to come back after a hectic and exhausting day of meetings and just be in such a peaceful and quiet surroundings. And, getting a super-delicious, hot breakfast served in my room was a special treat. The host was wonderful as well.
Review 48:It was a little cold...I used the fireplace for extra warmth which was $5.00 per log which burned for about 2 1/2 hours.
Review 49:The room was very clean and felt comfortable like home. It was cozy having a fireplace, the shower was amazing. I especially loved the breakfast each morning! Chocolate chip pancakes were to die for!
Review 50:The temperature was a little warmer than desired but we took intoaccount it was the first hot weekend of the Summer.
Review 51:The B&B was fabulous! It was clean, large and a great open space. The bathroom's jacuzzi, sauna and shower was spectacular and made itreally feel like vacation. There was a great table with chairs and twotall back chairs for lounging and socializing. Breakfast was very tastyand delivered promptly daily.Thank you again, we hope to be back!
Review 52:Having long abandoned the idea of staying in hotels when visiting out oftown or as this was a quick get-a-way for my wife and I, we found theStafford House to be missing our most prized element of our desiredexperience - interaction. As it stood, the owner/keeper, the lovelyDonna, made no attempt to tell us about the property and with a separateentrance...it just felt like a really expensive motel. Perhaps it'sjust us but part of the B&B experience should be connecting more ona personal level and less so on strictly financial terms.
Review 53:I loved how clean the facilities were and the awesome shower! Thelocation seems to be within walking distance of everything and thegrounds are well kept.
