Reviews for Cork Factory Hotel
Review 1:Would have liked a small refrigerator in our room.
Review 2:Loved the industrial chic look; room spaces were great; bed was very comfy; cork & cap restaurant was lovely; staff were accommodating and pleasant; close to downtown amenities
Review 3:The floors above were very loud all through out the night. We did not get to rest well due to the creaky floors.
Review 4:I liked the ecstatic of the overall hotel appearance
Review 5:Squeaking floors from above in morning and later in the evening. Lack of light in bathroom makeup mirror Breakfast could have been a full continental. Indoor pool would have been a plus
Review 6:The inside was very nice. Great looking with the old beams and brick walls exposed.
Review 7:I like my breakfasts and the only option was limited continental with poor coffee in polystyrene cups from a flask. No bread to toast but good quality bagels (I'm not a fan of bagels), breakfast was set out in restaurant which has very subdued lighting and no outside window so it feels like you are having breakfast at night. There was some great fruit salad. If you want to snatch breakfast in the morning I'd recommend the hotel.
Review 8:Plenty of character and easy walking distance into Lancaster
Review 9:not too big of a deal, but the floors in the rooms are wood, and i think our room was below the fitness room, so in the morning we heard a little noise on the floor.
Review 10:The room that I stayed in was gorgeous! had 2 tvs, a king bed (which was really comfy), nice bathroom..
Review 11:The mattresses of the beds were really saggy. It's not appropriate for the hotel category. Also the breakfast (no cooked or boiled eggs) was a little disappointing.
Review 12:The design of the hotel is really nice and stylish. We had a beautiful night at the bar with a great bartender and good cocktails!
Review 13:Choice of cereals at breakfast includes only sweet cereals. Should also include non sweet cereals like muesli.
Review 14:Very good base for a two-day visit of Lancaster County, but not really in a walking distance from downtown. Very good restaurant in the hotel. Very good job in transforming a factory site into a very nice hotel.
Review 15:The hotel is often booked for weddings/events, so there were often loud visitors down the corridors/upstairs after 10pm. Breakfast was limited to cereals, cakes, bagels etc.
Review 16:The staff were brilliant: accommodating, friendly and warm, especially when my booking wasn't updated by booking.com in their system. They were able to squeeze me in on a super full weekend. The rooms are clean, well organised. Great desk for working.
Review 17:Location, but understandable as it was a national historic preservation site. Also, we're members but did not get a discount because we used Booking.com. A small gift shop would have been great and maybe coffee and cookies in lobby.
Review 18:The architecture and renovation. Cleanliness. Overall feel was excellent.
Review 19:The hotel just didn't meet up with the website photos and descriptions. Our room (324) was basic and the furniture was well worn. I've stayed in nicer hotels for less money.
Review 20:There is a restaurant in the hotel and the waitress was excellent.
Review 21:The fire alarm started in our room 1/2 hour after we arrived. front desk clerk was not responsive to the issue. maintenance man was good but unprofessional appearance with droopy drawers. Front desk needed to be more friendly upon arrival our questions were a nusience to the two young ladies.
Review 22:Carpet was stained, it is very noisy because of the wooden planks on the floor- you hear every step from people on top of you. No curtains to block the lift so the room was very light during the night. (If you want to visit the Amish area the hotel is a little far off )
Review 23:Bathrooms, staff, beds were comfortable.
Review 24:The room was very cold, and the bed was very hard. The wifi really sucked. My biggest complaint was the pricing. After tax it was $536 for two nights, which was almost $100 more than what my partner and I both calculated, so it was a little shocking.
Review 25:I ABSOLUTELY loved the bathroom. As someone who works in the tile and counter top industry, it was very awesome to see such a nice displace. The room was also really good for hosting a get together as there was a very nice dining table in the middle. Also the style of the hotel is right up my alley. It was very close to all the places we wanted to eat at as well.
Review 26:The continental breakfast was very basic for the price of the room.
Review 27:The original style of an old cork factory converted to a hotel with historic pieces for decor.
Review 28:The did not have black out curtains or curtains at all.
Review 29:I liked the soaps and lotion provided. The continental breakfast was nice. Quiet and off street.
Review 30:Our dinner at the restaurant wasn't very good. Service was slow as their was a wedding party. Maybe on another day it would have been better. Neither if us cared for our meal. Again, maybe it was just what we chose.
Review 31:Cute. Cute. Cute. Beautiful hotel in a convenient location. We would absolutely stay here again.
Review 32:I was "upgraded" to a King suite. Sounds good, but the room was in another wing of the hotel with no amenities. The room had no charm (brick walls, etc) as the other part of the hotel did. Parking was limited.
Review 33:Breakfast staff was not organized, including managers.
Review 34:The room was very comfortable. Parking was convenient-just at front door. Only wish more restaurants within walking distance.
Review 35:Location was good but not downtown. Excellent for cost and character of the facility added a lot of value.
Review 36:Great building with lots of character. Beds are extremely comfortable.
Review 37:Furniture needs upgade. Air conditioner a bet nosiy at times. Free breakfast means "Continental". However, you do get a $5 credit torward any entry.
Review 38:Location to attractions and downtown. Historical building value.
Review 39:Upon returning to the room we decided to unpack. When we opened the closet we found dirty underware from a preiouv guest. We call housekeeping and they cleaned up immediatly which we appreciated. Later in the night we had to change rooms because the people above us were so noisey. The night clerk was very helpful.
Review 40:My wife & I went out to eat at a Local Pub, which was very good and just across the street from the Hotel. We did some touring around Lancaster and came back to the hotel.
Review 41:Staff vacuuming at 8:30am not appreciated. Breakfast buffet was dreadful - boxed cereal, no bowls, empty fruit platter, no milk jugs, poorly stocked pastry shelf, messy and unkept buffet. Not acceptable.
Review 42:Great parking, room was spacious, good wifi, comfy beds. Really good cafe next door, you'll need it as hotel breakfast is dreadful, although they are run by the same people?! Weird.
Review 43:One of the mornings there, they were severely understaffed and it took forever just to get coffee, fruit and a pastry from a self serve continental breakfast. No one was there to replenish the food. I think a wedding was in the hotel the previous night so maybe the volume of people was to much.
Review 44:Everything except the breakfast. I would definitely stay there again. So beautiful and comfortable.
Review 45:Would be nice to include tea bags in the room, but restaurant was kind enough to give us 2 complimentary cups to take to room that evening.
Review 46:We enjoyed the charm of staying in a non-traditional hotel. Great idea for reuse of a historic building!
Review 47:Clean and nice atmosphere the location is a little odd but still good parking. Recently the breakfast was lacking if they are cutting out breakfast than they should let guests know and the rate should be lower.
Review 48:Had dinner in the restaurant on a Tuesday night. The female bar tender could be heard above everything and everybody else. She really spoiled the ambience of the place.
Review 49:Accommodations were excellent. Good location, plenty of free parking. Loved the building and how it has been restored
Review 50:Sound travels through walls (or maybe vents)
Review 51:Really liked the restaurant, size, staff very nice. Good coffee and continental breakfast ready @ 6 which was awesome. Cool rennovation of an old brick factory.
Review 52:Factory feel not fully utilized in the rooms that are somewhat ordinary compared to what one would expect from exterior and public areas.
Review 53:Well preserved factory building, friendly staff and reasonably priced restaurant.
Review 54:We would have loved to learn more about the building's history but there was very little information provided. However, there were very interesting prints of local historical properties.
Review 55:The Cork Factory Hotel was well represented by the photographs. A quick 5" away from the visitor's center. The hotel is unique and interesting. Staff was friendly and professional. The restaurant's menu offered unique choices in a nice setting. The room was simple but offered nice details with finishing touches like artfully folded towels.
Review 56:Liked everything, one of our top picks in a five week holiday.
Review 57:I always like old building to find a new use & they have done a wonderful job in converting it in to a hotel. Modern, clean but still retaining the history of the building. We had the top floor, really high ceiling, large rooms with plenty of light.
Review 58:Difficult to find - poorly marked entrance; loud, late party very close to our room one night; small bathroom
Review 59:Fascinating decor retaining features of original factory; very comfortable breakfast area; convenient to many things
Review 60:Breakfast is excellent, unless you're a type II diabetic. All the juices and cereals were sugary. Baked goods don't work. Cheereos and tomato juice would have been nice.
Review 61:The atmosphere. Jasmine at the bar.
Review 62:There was no soundproofing of the room and we heard everything, footsteps, people walking up the stairs, flushing. Didn't sleep all night.
Review 63:Room was very nice and clean.
Review 64:In looking at pictures of rooms before booking I saw pictures of exposed beams and brick walls. The room we got was a King room and had no wood or brick decor. Although it was a nice room, it didn't have the charm I was hoping for. If you want a room like that be sure to ask specifically for one with brick and beams.
Review 65:The restored factory decor.
Review 66:Sound proofing not great and we would have loved a bath - but a wonderful place to stay regardless.
Review 67:Staff were lovely. Building was amazing! Wonderful breakfast. Will be back for sure.
Review 68:Room 111 was quiet but very bright throughout the night...parking lot lights...how about drapes? or roller blinds for a dark night's sleep. Also the bathroom was really dark which is normally bright. Contractors painting the hallway...smell of paint. Maybe NOT fill the rooms that are under near renovations?
Review 69:Staff was helpful and friendly and very accommodating. The building was beautiful and well kept.
Review 70:Nice seld service breakfast buffet but this hotel could really use a full serve breakfast restaurant, especially as they seem to have the restaurant & infrastructure for it.
Review 71:Nice comfortable room with warm industrial red brick factory design
Review 72:Some noise on 2nd floor heard from above primarily due to open rafters not providing insulation. Would stay on top floor next time. Lighting available in room at night not bright enough
Review 73:Unique property with interesting features--exposed brick, stone work, etc. Friendky staff, clean rooms
Review 74:Our AC did not work ! Came in from a late dinner and slept poorly as room was 75 degrees. Not much they could do at 1am as we sweat but thought they would offer something the next morning aside from "sorry".... Other than that hotel was very nice.
Review 75:Spotless facility, charming atmosphere
Review 76:The clue is in the word complimentary preceding the word breakfast. The management has not taken ownership of this offer, which comprises a pile of packaged products you could pick up in Safeway, with a grim black-clad waiter patrolling the room but not checking what might have run out. So tough if you turn up when the croissants have run out, or even the milk. Sadly the motel is 20 minutes all away from restaurants offering a cooked breakfast so guests are captive victims! Come on management, bring this up to the standard of the rest of the hotel or partner up with some of the local evening opening diners in the area around your premises by persuading them to open for breakfast.
Review 77:Very comfortable room, excellent reception staff, also evening restaurant staff.
Review 78:Not close proximity to conference downtown- didn't realize breakfast was ordered, not just grab and go- wished my stay there was longer than one very short night
Review 79:Loved the urban loft feel of this property, and the exposed brick, the bed was awesome!
Review 80:Loved evertything about this fabulous place...the style, the food, the room, the staff and loved the adorable bakery adjacent to the building. We will definitely be coming back again and again...
Review 81:I was disappointed in the breakfast. For what you pay per evening, I would have thought there would be at least one hot entree. Even Best Western has a hot entree. Hard boiled eggs, cereal, breads, tea, coffee, juice, yougurt. Next time, I would just go out for a hot breakfast.I would still recommend staying there overall. I just thought for the price, you would get more.
Review 82:I loved that it was a historic building. The design and the entire building were so welcoming and comfortable. Rustic and historic. The hotel bar and restaurant had amazing food and service.
Review 83:Stayed at the Cork Factory for one night just to get away. Found the building to be very interesting and we'll appointed. We ate dinner at the in hotel restaurant and the food and drinks were excellent! Decor is a perfect balance of rustic and modern industrial style architecture. Found the room to be clean, cozy and comfortable. Floors were a little squeaky which I suppose is understandable considering they kept the original factory flooring and left it exposed as the ceilings in the room below. Nice architectural touch though. Breakfast was a very satisfying continental style with lots of quality options and served in the restaurant. Overall we were thrilled with our visit and will stay again!
Review 84:The restaurant meals were poorly done for the price being paid. The fitness equipment while there was badly in need of replacement. Many travelers count on physical fitness equipment during their stay to continue their regimented workout plan. One beat up old treadmill and one beat up old elliptical and a couple weights in the corner causes more harm than good
Review 85:Beds were very comfortable
Review 86:The experience was exceptional. Only missed having tea with the coffee compliments
Review 87:The location and accommodations were awesome. Dining at CFH was excellent and the waiter (John), was absolutely the best. In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, "I'll be back"!
Review 88:The elevator was out on the day we arrived and we had to hump our luggage up two flights to our room. The night time hotel staff never offered to help, even with two young children standing before them.
Review 89:Historic undertone was very tastefully handled by the designers. Rooms are very spacious. Daytime hotel staff were very courteous and customer service minded. they even called our cell phones to confirm dinner reservations and typed up the same in a note at the front desk. Very professional!
Review 90:Location isn't prime, considering price. Didn't eat there but heard food was awful and prices were through the roof
Review 91:Liked the room - very upscale.
Review 92:couldn't get wifi password to work most of the time....floor above our room squeaked badly. No counter in restroom at all...very hard to not have a place to put our toiletries...
Review 93:breakfast was lovely! lots of fresh fruit and healthful choices!
Review 94:My husband & I went for an overnight getaway to check out Lancaster Brew Company. I was looking for a reasonable hotel and came across Cork Factory. We could not have been more impressed. The rooms were well appointed, and the entire building was chic but very comfortable. The restaurant/bar had great food and the staff was friendly and helpful. I will be sure to recommend this hotel to anyone going to Lancaster.
Review 95:the rooms were advertised with exposed brick and wooden beams, our room was all drywalled and painted - disapponting, no different than a holiday inn. Also, the room was very dark, 2 lamps provided, one had only one of two bulbs in it the other only had one bulb that worked.
Review 96:the restaurant was fabulous! Great food for a fair price ;)
Review 97:Just that there weren't any king size beds available the evening we stayed.
Review 98:The timber and stone cozy bar and the timber loft ceiling of our room on the top floor.
Review 99:Sound proofing between rooms need to be improved...where the dry wall meets the brick wall...one can see lights into adjacent room and hear conversations.
Review 100:Ambiance, warm lobby, character of building, friendly staff.
Review 101:In spite of it being a no smoking hotel we had a smoker next door who spent all night coughing. If the walls had been better insulated we would not have been bothered by him. We did report it but he was still smoking and coughing 24 hours later. Breakfast was a massive disappointment. Over sweet cereals and yogurts to be eaten from the cardboard pots in which they came. Vacuum packed tasteless boiled eggs, mouldy strawberries on both mornings, weak coffee. Don't bother with it!
Review 102:Beds, ambience, decor etc.
Review 103:- location (near Amish County) - hotel is in old factory building - spacious room - good breakfast - great value for money - comfortable beds - free parking
Review 104:As with so many hotels - a fixed head shower which is too high for short people to reach to alter and most women do not want to get their hair wet every time they shower!!
Review 105:This was a lovely place to stay. Friendly staff who were very helpful. Large comfortable room. Large bathroon with more than enough towels. Easy walking distance into the centre of Lancaster. So good to see old buildings put to good use.
Review 106:Scary elevator suddenly jumps up as you enter, construction going on early (started and finished while we were there), no freezer part in mini fridge (although the staff was kind enough to put our freezer paks in the hotel freezer), pillows lumpy and not very comfortable, only one chair in rooms, 2 nights in area wasn't enough
Review 107:Well appointed public areas, beautiful stonework in restaurant, good base to visit Amish/Mennonite country side, comfortable beds
Review 108:A bit noisy at times. No real cereals like rolled oats or whole wheat for breakfast. Need good tea making facilities not coffee flavoured kettles
Review 109:Old world charm
Review 110:Rustic decor and the staff at the cafe (the bakers). The place is really unique with a lot of history. We have stayed there about 4 times and recommend.
Review 111:Breakfast buffet was not filled up quickly. We were not able to have bread. Appears restaurant understaffed with only one person trying to take care everything.
Review 112:Awesome building, very spacious room. Maybe because of the high ceiling structure, the noise of rain hitting the roof (we stayed in top floor) and voice from adjacent rooms were loud time to time.
Review 113:Lack of amenities. No desk lamp, only 2 lights in large room. Very dark décor. Lacks details to make it memorable. One bar of soap. Had to request and put my own pillowcases on the pillows. Did not appear to be very clean.
Review 114:Comfy bed & high ceilings Nice restaurant.
Review 115:breakfast, everything they had was sweet, the cereal, the bagles (blueberry), jam, ...no cheese or ham not even creamcheese. They said it was continental but that doesn't mean everything has to be sweetened
Review 116:great location, walking distance to the town center, great English pub right in front of the hotel. Short drive to Amish farmmarket (Bird in hand). Great interior, nice bar
Review 117:Our family of 3 stayed at the Cork Factory Hotel for 3 days and 4 nights. Our only complaints: setting the water temperature in the shower was quite tricky on our first night to the point that we had to call the front desk for help (their advice: let the water run for 10-15 minutes for the water to reach our desired temperature... it worked) and parking spots outside of the lobby are tough to come by after 10 pm but there are some more spots in the back of the building. We never had the chance to eat breakfast at the hotel which came with the stay because we got up late ... That's how comfortable the beds were. Although the rooms are small, overall, the place was comfortable and clean, it's less than 10 miles away from most of the places we wanted to go to and the staff were cordial and polite.
Review 118:The walls in the rooms are very thin. When we were trying to go to sleep a round 11pm the couple in the room next to ours were talking a bit loud and then it turned into love making. I don't know the layout of their room but their bed must have butted up against the wall by our bed because we could hear everything (every sound that goes on with making love). It sounded like as if they were in our bed, it was that loud. Embarrassing? Yes to say the least, not only for them whoever they were but for us how were forced to listen. I got out of bed and turn the air conditioning down to 65 so the sound of the fan would try to muffle the sound. I also turn on the TV to a music station to allow the combination of the fan and music to muffle the sound. I think you have a great hotel, we were treated nicely by your staff. They asked the next day how our stay was and I told them what had happened and they were sorry but had a good laugh. However, we would have to think twice about the next time if we would stay with you. If we did it would have to be a room positioned differently so this embarrassment would not happen again. I know it was not your fault because you can not control the actions of others and I guess they had every right to do what they did, however because of the thin walls and the lack of being discreet on their part it was very awkward and embarrassing for my wife and I. In all our years we have never experienced anything like that. There you have it!
Review 119:No bathtubs or pool.
Review 120:The hotel was beautifully appointed. I had read some negatives online, but things couldn't have been more perfect. Reservations went smoothly. The rooms were beautiful with very comfortable beds. The halls were quiet even though the hotel was booked. I loved the beautiful stone wall bar and restaurant where morning breakfast was held.
Review 121:Absolutely beautiful building. Great food. EXCELLENT pastries - definitely try the danishes, which are made on the premises and are so much better than pastry you usually get in hotel buffets (some of the best I've ever had, actually).
Review 122:No sense of order in the room - furniture all misplaced, lights and phones unplugged. Toilet ran all day. Floors above creaked so badly until 1:am - it was ridiculous. Pillows feel like inflated balloons.
Review 123:Look and feel.
Review 124:Noise. There was little insulation in walls and none in ceiling. Weddinghotel and very noisy starting at 9:30 pm and going on until 2:00 am. Wecould hear conversations and activities going on in rooms above andbeside us! Location is business area away from downtown and amenities.Front desk personnel didn't seem very concerned when we complainedabout noise when we checked out. Also breakfast included was skimpycontinental buffet. For cost and promotion of hotel we expected more!!!
Review 125:Room large and attractive
Review 126:Friendly clean and not your ordinary Hotel. First time had a problem and they went above and beyond to fix it and because of the way they handled it, I've been back a few times.
Review 127:The rooms were a bit noisy. Breakfast was not staffed well; only one employee bussing tables, refilling buffet and this was not efficient.
Review 128:Charming hotel. Helpful front desk staff. Well located for our needs-walkable to good restaurants.
Review 129:Could hear other guests through the walls but that is common in factories as I was told from another guest who had a factory business.
Review 130:I like the ambiance of the recycled factory with its brick walls and exposed beams. The room was large enough, the bed was very comfortable, air conditioning worked well, very clean and bathrooms modern with granite.
Review 131:Much too far from downtown to walk, which maybe is my fault for not paying more attention when I booked. The room (in the "quiet" part of the hotel) was uninteresting in the extreme - could have been in a Hilton or Hyatt or whatever. Furthermore, it was directly on the parking lot, so much so that when I tried to look at the window I was looking at the grilles of cars. The parking lot is so brightly lit that it was difficult to sleep - there are no curtains, just venetian blinds, which are charming but did not keep out much of that light. Also, the weather was beautiful, but it we couldn't open the windows because of being right on the parking lot with no grates, or even screens, on the windows. A disappointing experience overall.
Review 132:Very comfortable beds, very nice people, cool old building.
Review 133:The room was spacious, and so was the bathroom. I liked the biodegradable bottles and the encouragement to reuse towels. The fruit at breakfast was actually ripe, and tasty.
Review 134:We choose to stay at the Cork Factory not knowing what we would encounter. To our happy surprise we found a jewel in a resurrgent Lancaster. Although the location is on the edge of Lancaster revitalization it is still within mere blocks of downtown shopping. Very nice stay.
Review 135:When we got to breakfast it was the last hour that they were serving there were just a few pieces of fruit left. When I asked if they would be puting out more fruit I was told that " that was the 3rd tray". Then he said "the produce order hadn't come in yet and there was no more fruit. Lucky for us the rest of the food was good.
Review 136:Room was very nice & a great bathroom shower. Front desk welcoming.
