Reviews for Zululand Tree Lodge

Review 1:Heat wave conditions and no swimming pool to cool off

Review 2:Rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished. Privacy and location of the actual tree lodges are fantastic

Review 3:What a fantastic setting. The staff were faultless and the food was lovely. The cheeky monkeys kept stealing the sugar and there were even zebra grazing below our tree lodge when we awoke one morning.

Review 4:Tranquil location, friendly staff and very comfortable accommodation. It is also close to the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park, which is definitely worth a visit!

Review 5:The location was amazing! We could see Impala, Zebra and Kudu roaming around in front of our balcony. While walking to our room we heard something in the bushes next to us and found a giraffe about 5m next to us! Welcome to nature. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. We also had a great time with the staff at the bar.

Review 6:bed linen had stains, cigarette burns and even torn. i told that at the reception and the linen was immediately changed. Unfortunately, the technique under the chalet hums very loud.

Review 7:chalets were wonderful with direct view on antilopes, staff very friendly and hluwehluwe game park ist only a 15-minute drive away. Wi-fi better than in other locations.

Review 8:no swimming pool, dining/breakfast room no welcoming staff and dirty cutlery. Requested Scrambled egg - eggs beaten and fried on hot plate.

Review 9:Location and resident game, great welcome from Nikita

Review 10:Staff very friendly and helpful; meals were all good and the setting in the woods is delightful, with animals occasionally wondering below your tree lodge room.

Review 11:Saturday supper was disgusting & less than value for money. After all complained the bills were rightfully cancelled. Sunday menu looked like a rehash of Saturday so we ate else where. 2 of the older female dining room staff looked like they would have preferred not to be there. The shower door could not close properly result water ever where.

Review 12:The Reception Staff were friendly. The room was impressive.

Review 13:Menus for 4 breakfasts and dinners were the same except for the meat at dinner. Management needs to show that they are active, many of the services were of poor quality. Feeling that guests must find out whats available and happening without any help from the lodge. Definitely not value for money.

Review 14:quote for dinner was incorrect, as we had dinner in boma which cost more, fridge not working, uncomfortable deck chairs, very dirty shower with poor showerhead...

Review 15:lovely bed, stunning breakfast, close to game reserves, friendly and helpful staff, very serene surroundings if you are looking for peace and quiet.

Review 16:Nothing bad to report.

Review 17:Being at one with nature was wonderful. It was relaxing and exciting sitting outside listening to the sounds of Africa. We felt honoured to visit the animals in their own habitat.

Review 18:The linen is not change everyday if the sheet can be change everyday

Review 19:What I like is that the staff makes you feel welcomed and it a quiet place to spend time

Review 20:Need a little more attention to detail. Pool was not usable during our stay, sidewalks were somewhat muddy and slippery, dinner buffet was a little pricey for the value received.

Review 21:Proximity to Imflozi Park. View from treehouse lodge was very nicd.

Review 22:Nothing!

Review 23:Friendly and helpful staff (manager Wayne - a good bloke who knows how to run an hotel); lovely grounds, very comfortable rooms, good and plentiful food - and a resident mischief-maker, aka Chloe the goat!

Review 24:Having to leave after (only) three wonderful days!

Review 25:The layout of the units in the fever tree forest (with a multitude of birds) and the comfortable facilities provide the setting for a truly relaxing stay. The staff are polite and helpful and the meals were excellent. The close proximity to Hluhluwe Game Reserve makes an early morning / late afternoon game drive a pleasure and the guide (Hamilton) is the best in the business.

Review 26:it's still 20minutes to the national park the town of hluhluwe isn't nice but te lodge is located far outside town

Review 27:tree lodge housing food is fenomenal staff is very friendly and helpfull

Review 28:We stayed at Zululand tree lodge for one night following an excellent stay at the Falaza. When i booked the accomodation I also booked a half day game drive for the following morning and informed that we would be arriving at 5:30 so needed late check in and asked if we could have the afternoon tea which was included in the room price upon arrival or rearrange for the following day. I received a confirmation email confirming all the above however when we arrived the game drive hadnt been booked and we were not aloud the afternoon tea as agreed. The room was nice with a large balcony and double bed however the bed sheets had blood specs and stains on them. The restaurant served a buffet style dinner in the evening. There was a good selection of food however everything was cold by the time we came to eat as it had been left standing for so long before the restaurant opened despite us being seated straight away. As we had had a long drive up to the hotel and now had to do a self drive as there was no room on the hotel game drive we decieded to get an early night. At 9:30 we were rudely awakened by the hotel staff knocking on the door to give us the poem and sweets they had forgot to leave in the room earlier in the day and there was no apology. All in all the tree lodge was a reasonable place to stay however the food and staff let it down slightly. The animals came right up to the tree house and it was really peacful and comfortable.

Review 29:Close to the game reserve and easy to find. The rooms were nicely furnished with a large balcony.

Review 30:No pool in close proximity. Nothing to do at night. Was expecting more of a'camp fire' social atmosphere.

Review 31:Good setting. Friendly staff.

Review 32:The rooms were great!! Staff fantastic! Would recommend this place for sure!!

Review 40:The facilities in a whole and staff wass really friendly

Review 42:Fantastic accomadation

Review 43:Proximity to Memorial gate and access to Parks

Review 44:buffet meals for diner were expensive

Review 48:Buffet dinner only gets an average rating, not great

Review 49:Very good staff and lovely setting for the chalets

Review 50:Laundry was not returned. Very good effort made though to deliver to Durban before we flew out.

Review 51:The great atmosphere and Elizabeth.

Review 52:Staff noisy around pool area Rooms not always cleaned of litter. Expensive drinks.

Review 53:Great food and comfortable stay! Great location Romantic

Review 54:In need or repair and maintenance. Food stereotype and expensive

Review 76:Wonderful staff. Great proximity to wildlife reserves. Large property, very secluded. Nice accomodations

Review 77:More recreational facilities

Review 78:Not enough entertainment to keep you occupied during not visiting the surrounding areas.

Review 79:The game drive should include drinks, all other lodges I've been to do this. The coffee was always cold in the morning

Review 80:The rooms were well appointed

Review 81:Got a few too many insect bites but this can't be avoided sometimes

Review 82:Excellent layout, lovely to feel so close and almost part of nature. The treelodges themselves are great novel enclosures. Restaurant / Bar area very pleasant and atmospheric

Review 83:The first morning we asked for breakfast at 7h00 and they were still not ready the food is cold and plates also. Saterday evening around the boma the food was also cold and dry.I think the nets in the rooms need attention full of holes. I think they should keep a selection of wine as well.

Review 84:We liked the atmosfere and it was nice and quiet people were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the fire although it was cold but we enjoyed it. Thankyou very much for everything.

Review 85:Somewhat pricey admittedly. Stay in the nearby family chalets rather than the elevated Rondavels for those wanting views and lawns rather than intimacy.

Review 86:Great location: Zululand Tree Lodge is close to game parks and an hour's drive to the beach.

Review 87:We had a wonderful experience at Zululand Tree Lodge. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the location was great. The staff prepared great meals and we loved eating outside by the fire and under the stars at night.

Review 88:The location is beautiful and quiet. The tree houses are comfortable and spacious, food choice is very good, staff is so friendly and helpfull and always available. The gamedrives to the nearby Imfolozi-Hluhluhwe Park are a highlight.

Review 89:The food extremely costly when there was no choice of food & worse I could not eat it as chilly/cheyene or similar spice was liberarally put on everything including roast potatoes and vegetables - I am allergic to this family of spices. Even though I did not say something, surely the staff should have seen I did not touch my served up plate that there as something wrong?!, Why is the coffee/tea hidden away?

Review 90:A vast improvement from the last time I stayed many years ago +- 10 yrs

Review 91:Absolutely everything. We have no negative feedback. The staff were the highlight of our stay - their service was 5 star - so friendly and efficient and they made us feel like VIP's.

Review 92:Impalas under the windows

Review 93:Rustic luxury. Friendly staff. Made to feel very welcome. All in all a great experience.

Review 94:Location is excellent for access toHluhluwe. The accomadation is fantastic as was the food.
