Reviews for Travel Inn Athens

Review 1:Rooms were dirty.. It looked like sheets hadn't been changed in ages. There was a bad smell like weed around the hotel .. It gave a very dangerous vibe off it and the lady behind counter was very rude and unhelpful

Review 2:I changes rooms 3 times because it was somwthin wrong in the first 2 rooms the 3rd room didn't have a refrigerator or microwave. But the other 2 did. It's just somewhere to stay of you really need too.

Review 3:Room was noise, hard to get any rest. The room needed repairs, toilet broke three times during the stay.

Review 4:The only good thing about this hotel is it's location.

Review 5:I went to three different rooms and all were filthy and one was had Sheetrock dust all over the floor and a broken tv. The only decent part was the sweet lady at the front desk! She was helpful and apologetic. I wound NOT recommend this property!

Review 6:The room was filthy. From dust bunnies all over the ceiling, filthy carpet, bathroom smelled like urine, shower curtain rod broken, I could go on and on. Dire need of maintenance with some chemicals for cleaning. Yuck.

Review 7:Within walking distance of stadium.

Review 8:Non-smoking room smelled like smoke and had a lot of cigarette butts inthe ac unit. Our room did not even come with a comforter on the bed ortowels in bathrooms, had to get both myself from office. Room wasevidently not cleaned prior to my stay - was trash and debris on floorand white power around the edges of room. The mini fridge did not work at all, the microwave took 6 minutes to cook oatmeal. Their is NO provided breakfast even though it is advertised.HORRIBLE experience, this location should be shut down and condemned.

Review 9:Close to Sanford Stadium

Review 10:Awful smell dirty sheets mold every where . Heater didn't work Frezzing all night . Bathroom door in 312 was completely broken off the hinges

Review 11:NOTHING AT ALL

Review 12:The room was absolutely disgusting, I was afraid to touch anything and if I did touch something, it was sticky. After 20 minutes I booked another hotel and left.

Review 13:The most disgusting hotel I have ever booked. The young lady at the front desk was very sweet. That's literally the only good thing about this place.

Review 14:The facility was filthy and even though the location was good, there were several sketchy people around outside. They were willing to change our room 3 times, but each was worse than the next.

Review 15:The staff was pleasant.

Review 16:The room smelled like cigarettes and had a putrid odor. I was afraid to let anything of mine touch the ground. The room was poorly lit and the service was awful. Also, my friend and I had to rent another room because Booking.com had a deceptive description. It said double room. We also put 2 adults in our request. But when we checked in the hotel manager said double room doesn't imply two beds. That's never happened to me before.

Review 17:Nothing.

Review 18:My room was clean, but the power outlets was bad. Got charged extra for my reservation. Bed had no blankets. Not that many options for the free breakfast.

Review 19:The location of the place was great. Not that far from UGA's campus.

Review 20:Our initial room was filthy, smelled bad, and had cockroaches so we complained and got a slightly better room. The second room was also filthy with roaches, but did not smell too bad. Finally the price was outrageously expensive for the room quality.

Review 21:There were stains on the walls, carpets, beds, and lamp shades. Paint was chipping from the walls. The top cover is merely a thin sheet, so you had to crank up the heat in the room to not be cold. The shower in the bathroom was a bit difficult to use as far as turning on the water. I couldn't really tell if the towels and bathroom floor mats were clean.

Review 22:Given options were limited, it surely came in handy to have a place to stay. Definitely has hot (boiling) water. TV, refrigerator, and microwave also included in the room.

Review 23:-Room had a weird smell -Bathroom was filthy -Bed linens were too thin, didnt provide enough warmth. -Dirty microwave (there was a bug inside)

Review 24:Convenience to DT Athens

Review 25:Room needed updating and maintenance as much as about any hotel I have ever stayed in. Paint, beds, lamp shades, bathroom all in poor condition. Smallest towels ever.

Review 26:Location was close to University of Georgia and football stadium. Older part of town, probably ok area during daytime and for football game. Probably not the best otherwise.

Review 27:Property was in very poor condition shower was broke and curtain broke. Had to move to another room. Pictures did not show how bad it was. I usually can stay in most places this however was really bad.

Review 28:Nothing

Review 29:it was disgusting in every way. We ended up abandoning the room, mgt knew. ,,without refund and finding lodging elsewhere that had vacant rooms due to cancellations. The bathroom door was kicked in & busted, there were cobwebs everywhere, the carpet had crumbs on it & had not been cleaned in years, it needed replaced. Light bulbs were out. The smell was hideous. There was no comforters on beds. The bathroom was gross, we would not even go in., it was worse than a gas station. Mirrors were dirty. We have contacted the BBB and this place should be leveled. I would never stay there, especially with kids. It must just be a crash pad for drunk people after ball games at UGA. Awful.

Review 30:Close to UGA

Review 31:Place is gross! Bed sheets had pubic hair on them , microwave was filthy. Was afraid to go to sleep. Place makes a crack house look like the ritz .

Review 32:The bathroom was filthy. The mirror had not been cleaned. The bedspread contained cigarette burn holes in a non-smoking room. The roomhad an odor. Asked to move, the smoking room that was available wasworse. Asked for a refund, no refunds allowed. Paper thin walls. Noiseall night.

Review 33:Sketchy cleanliness, half used shampoo bottle, random people (didn't appear to be guests) hanging around the balcony and parking lot, linens were iffy

Review 34:Cold AC, Hot Shower, good water pressure, decent location

Review 35:our original room had no working air and we had to be relocated and the rooms weren't kept as clean as they should be.

Review 36:The staff was helpful and friendly, and the location was very close to the venue.

Review 37:Smelly room, stale smoke.. , very noisy plumbing woke me up, banging screechy noise. The lights didn't all work, no coffee or creamers in the room. Breakfast almost non existent, stale cereal, coffee wasn't made, I had to wait. Stale bagels and nothing to put on them (no butter, jam or cream cheese), no juice or fruit. TV on loud with cartoons, news program would be more appropriate for a morning show. I was the only customer there for breakfast, 8:30 so not too late or early. Sheets were clean.

Review 38:location

Review 39:Location is what we needed but it smelled bad in the room and the table top in the room wasn't secured. I placed my purse on there and it flip off. Carpet felt sticky also. Bathroom tiles were very very loose. I guess you get what you pay for

Review 40:Everything the walls were dirty, what was supposed to be a blanket was actually a curtain, you can see the whole were the rod was supposed to go in, the bathroom was dirty, the tiles was coming up from the floor. The pool was put of order

Review 41:It was horrible, there was a condom on the floor, the mattress was stained & torn, chester drawer broken. Disgusting room couldn't even stay another night there.

Review 42:this is basically the frat house hotel if you're looking for party go here if you're trying to sleep staying VERY far away

Review 43:The price but wound up not being even worth that

Review 44:Walking into our "clean" room we saw a used wash clothe hanging on the lamp shade, mascara marks on the sheets, and it smelled of stale cigarettes. Outside the window there were toilet seats strewn about the back lawn, adjacent to the dirty, empty pool. Also, several patrons were arrested over the evening/morning we were there (this, however, is not something I'd hold Travelodge accountable for, but I wouldn't want anyone in the future to be unsafe).

Review 45:Smoke stench in smoke-free room was awful, sheets with holes and stains, walls covered with stains of who knows what. Just plain dirty ! gross, foul and disgusting.

Review 46:Free wi-fi

Review 47:It was absolutely terrible. I didn't end up staying here. Non-smoking room wreaked of smoke...greasy hand prints on the walls....linens were gross. Manager was not helpful and refused a partial refund.

Review 48:Smoke smellin room that made it difficult to breath and sleep. Tub was dirty. Facilities are in need of upgrading, and should be a smoke free environment!

Review 49:Definitely seemed like a place where some questions business transactions would happen. This is a place that should cost more like $40/night, not $100 - but I guess the proximity to downtown allows them to charge that much.

Review 50:There was a free breakfast that was very mediocre, but at least was something. Wifi was great.

Review 51:Room smelly and dirty.....my wifeclo couldn't stand laying on the bed so she wrapped herself in a blanket from the car.

Review 52:We liked nothing and left as early as we could. Couldn't even bring ourselves to shower in the awful and smelly room. Disgraceful.

Review 53:Room had some weird bugs all over the place and the pictures they used were false didn't look anything like the pictures and bed linen had stains!

Review 54:Staff was nice.

Review 55:The room was unbelievably unclean, there was numerous blood stains, hair, dirt everywhere, the tv didn't work, all kitchen appliances were disgusting, I wouldn't take a shower here I would probably be dirtier afterwards

Review 56:Nothing this place is trash

Review 57:Unknown substance splattered against one wall. Bathroom towels barely large than hand towel. Shower curtain rod bent in middle rendering shower curtain useless.

Review 58:Everything. It was a non-smoking room and there was an ashtray and smelled of smoke. Desk chair was broken, and toilet was cracked.

Review 59:Nothing, there was nothing to like.

Review 60:The non smoking room smelled like smoke. The beds were on wooden frames and the bath towles felt like they were from the UGA locker room from 1965.

Review 61:The location.

Review 62:Location bad, boarder line dangerous. Sinks and shower both leaked continuous toilet was cracked and wobbled. Room smelled bad, carpet nasty. Some fixtures worked some had shorts. Couple next door yelled and screamed all night fighting.

Review 63:Leaving

Review 64:One of the dirtiest motels I have ever stayed in! Had to go to store and buy clorox cleaner to clean bathroom. Tub had hair in it and toilet was filthy! Killed roaches in room. Floors we never cleaned!

Review 65:Didnt like anything!

Review 66:All the bugs I killed a roach on the bed then there were a lot of little brown bugs

Review 67:Staff was Really awesome great customer service although check in lady didn't know how to find our reservation.

Review 68:We arrived to the facility expecting a Travel Lodge and it was a Travel Inn. My bed was on old rotted pallets that broke so my bed was on a angle. There were bloody hand prints on the wall and the room was dim and filthy. Random liquids had been spilled all over the room. The room smelt like urine.

Review 69:The lady at the front desk was nice.

Review 70:No shampoo in the bathroom, and dirty towels. Cobwebs in the room, dirty mirrors, safe was not in service. Overall, there was a grungy feel to this place.

Review 71:The folks who worked here were very friendly. It was only about a 10 minute walk into Downtown Athens, but it didn't feel like the safest trek. For me, I wanted to spend as little as possible to be within walking distance of Downtown, and I got exactly that.

Review 72:Wifi cuts out in the evenings. Breakfast was pretty unimpressive. You can hear EVERYTHING that happens outside through the doors.

Review 73:I was comfortable and was provided everything I needed for my stay in Athens. I didn't need anything fancy; pretty much just slept and showered there, so this hotel was great.

Review 74:Basically, this hotel is a short step up from camping- really dim lights, wonky showers, extremely thin walls and questionably stained sheets and towels.

Review 75:If you're looking for a dirt cheap place to stay and won't be spending much time in the hotel, this isn't awful. There were no bugs, AC works, and no leaky roof. Plus, it's a really short walk to the downtown center with all sorts of great restaurants and bars. In addition, the staff was very nice. Just maybe bring your own sheets and towels...

Review 76:I made my reservation at the Travel Lodge (name has changed to Travel Inn) based on location to the downtown area of Athens. The hotel is just under a mile from the nightlife but there's no way I would walk anywhere near this hotel. This hotel is located in a VERY sketchy part of town. I was uncomfortable just pulling into the parking lot. Once inside the front desk area I began to question the stay, but the staff was friendly. Upon receiving my key I was given a card for a local taxi. That was nice. Anyway, the room. Disgusting!! It smelled terrible! A "non-smoking" room, yet both bed spreads had visible cigarette burns in them. The couch/chair thing had stains and cigarette burns. The toilet seat was broken, yes broken, and just sitting on top of the bowl. There was no toilet paper roll and the towels were stained and yellow. There was even cobwebs on the night stand lamp. I looked around for about 60 seconds and went back to the front desk. I told the staff I did not want that room and I do not want to be shown another. I will not be staying at their hotel and I wanted a full refund. Despite all the bad, they were quick to refund though there was no dialogue at that point. Needless to say, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER stay here!!!

Review 77:Absolutely nothing except for the fact the staff didn't put up any fight to immediately refund me.

Review 78:First of all, Booking.com still has it listed as "Travel Lodge". It is no longer Travel Lodge. It is Travel Inn. The place is a wreck. Old and dirty. It is time for a remodeling of the place.

Review 79:It is very close to downtown Athens and the University.

Review 80:Nastiest hotel I have ever stayed in non-smoking rooms have been smoked in stained sheets bath towels that are the size of washcloths rooms smell of mildew

Review 81:We found a live roach in the bed & more near the "closet area". When we told the Desk clerk, HE LAUGHED! Hallway was also dirty & trash everywhere...it's outside, concrete & could be scrubbed. The bathroom door would not close!

Review 82:Hotel VERY dirty, everything needed cleaning, lots of insects/bugs crawling everywhere, dark, smelly! I shall not be using Travelodge again whilst in the US!!

Review 83:Stayed 3nights and every morning breakfast was nearly gone by 7 am. Very noisy place to stay and repairs that were done in areas looked shaby.I personally would not recommend the place unless you are a truck driver.

Review 84:Not enough towels. Towels were too small and thin. Towels and linens were stained (or dirty). The bathroom floor was disgusting. The bathroom door wouldn't close. One of the chairs in the sitting area was broken. The fridge cabinet was broken. No iron in the room. Several lights were burnt out (or the fixture was broken). Carpet floors were dirty. The door frame to the room had obviously been forced open recently. One of the room keys didn't work.

Review 85:Lots of hot water.

Review 86:The minute I walked in I was served as Royalty. The manager/owner of the 2 properties spoke with me respectfully and graciously. He was informative and had a personable side I don't encounter too often any more on the road. He also put in a good word for me for a possible position with his hotel. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, and atmosphere very private. I received answers to all of my questions to the hotel operator, and the pizza delivery was even fast and the pizza hot. No complaints at all.

Review 87:This hotel is very different from the modern Travelodges I know from the UK. It has the overall appearance of a run-down motel, and my room was dark, smelly and claustrophobic. There are no opportunities to escape this (e.g. outside seating), unless you want to hang out in the parking lot. The room was superficially clean (clean linen etc., towels changed daily) but there was a lot of old grime, including cigarette stubs in the corners; fridge and microwave were rather unhygienic. The "complimentary" breakfast consists of two kinds of cereals, stale bread, and the occasional apple/banana (there is a lovely breakfast place close by though). The rooms are very badly soundproofed, so don't expect to get much sleep on a game day! That said, this place is alright for a stopover in lack of a better alternative, but I would never again stay there several days in a row.

Review 88:This hotel is situated conveniently close to downtown Athens (10 min walk). The WiFi signal was strong and reliable.

Review 89:Towels tiny, someone had smoked in our nonsmoking room. Had not been painted or updated in years. Didn't appear to be actually dirty but bedding was tattered and cheap looking. Shower was fine but bath was tiny and not vented. Too pricy for the condition of the property.

Review 90:located in downtown Athens and convenient. Staff was friendly. Mattress was acceptable. Allowed to book only one night on a football weekend.

Review 91:Rooms are not worth the money you are charged for them and the cleanliness is terrible. Beds are not comfortable at all.

Review 92:Great location for a game. Because you are within walking distance of the campus.

Review 93:don't expect the Ritz and you won't be disappointed, knew what we were in for before we got there and we weren't surprised

Review 94:walking distance to downtown Athens, one of the last motel or hotels with a reasonable gameday rate left

Review 95:It was a last minute decision to go down and stay the night before the UGA game. So unfortunately, it was a last resort. I thought it couldn't be that bad, but boy was I wrong! It was dirty and gross! I never once walked on the carpet without my shoes and there was a huge smashed roach on the wall. Plus, I'm pretty sure our comforter was a curtian. If it hadn't been for the fact my husband is an exterminator and checked the room for more roaches and bed bugs, I would have slept in my car. Also, the mirror in the bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in awhile. If it hadn't been so late when we arrived, We would of found a place anywhere but here.

Review 96:The one and only thing I liked about this place was the lady that checked us in. Her customer service was great! She was very friendly and polite. She even fixed a billing mistake made when I booked the resavation online. A mistake, I wouldn't of known about if she hadnt caught it!

Review 97:The bugs it and so body else clothes in a droes

Review 98:The facility is in disrepair. It needs some major work.

Review 99:It is very convenient and affordably priced

Review 100:This hotel is very dirty, there were ashes on the bathroom floor. Would not stay here again.

Review 101:Room had odor

Review 102:Location

Review 103:Rundown facilities, not clean. Would not stay there again ever.

Review 104:Location was good, close to downtown Athens

Review 105:Everything about the room. Bugs, brown water, smell, clothes in drawer. Toilet did not flush

Review 106:Worse place I have ever stayed

Review 107:Disgusting. Bugs, grime, odor, mold.

Review 108:Close to downtown Athens.

Review 109:Rooms need major updating. Especially the bathrooms. bathroom floors and walls were filthy. Trash under the beds.

Review 110:Room smelled rank, there were bugs in the bathroom, a spider and cobweb in the shower

Review 111:Close to downtown

Review 112:Room was rundown and unclean. It was the only available room in the area and as a result, it was way overpriced.

Review 113:Proximity to UGA

Review 114:The room was filthy. It smelled horrible. It was just a dump. For $140.00!

Review 115:Its not a Travelodge its Travel Inn and it was the most disgusting place I've ever stayed in.

Review 116:Very poorly maintained- unclean, roach infested

Review 117:Bad smell. Dark. Roaches. Needs fresh paint update, etc. Would not recommend.

Review 118:Everything else.

Review 119:A few blocks from downtown.

Review 120:Pillows and bed comfortable

Review 121:Everything about this place was a bad experience. Dirty, smelly, dark and over priced.

Review 122:Roaches. Air conditioner leaked.

Review 123:Staff was pleasant and able to accommodate my needs for a room with refrigerator
