Review 1：The quality of this hotel blew me away. Flat screen tvs, fast internet, friendly staff, clean everything. Even the way the rooms are presented blew me away. (I.e. The pillows being vertically stacked on the bed) Everything about this place was amazing for the price. Well above what they charge.

Review 2：Booted by booking.com online and had a copy of confirmation on hand and front desk staff could't fine my reserved, so end up to take another room that left over.

Review 4：Shower curtain too short so can wet the floor which needs washing anyway. The floor behind the bathroom door is dirty as usual because the bathroom is so small the cleaners do not have room to clean properly. We arrived at change of shift on reception and a trainee was left to deal with the afternoon check in. We could not open our first room but luckily he found another which locked itself after we got our luggage out the next morning. Apparently they have had difficulties with the doors recently.

Review 5：Good shower and comfortable bed. Access from car park via slopes rather than steps so easier with big luggage.(no lift).

Review 6：Very seedy place & were concerned for our safety. Manager charged us $20 more than our confirmed rate for 2nd night.

Review 8：Rooms were musty & smelled like cigarettes even though smoke free room was requested. I was moved to another room which was a little better. The AC didn't work well. The bedspread had numerous stains, no hair dryer, no iron . Staff was more interested in smoking outside the lobby.

Review 9：Staff were curt and they were smoking and on their cellphones every time we needed something. Did not give enough towels or wash clothes even after we asked for extra.

Review 10：stayed here on the days leading up to our wedding. We liked the location and price. We were allowed to check in very early.

Review 11：the check in area had a really strong smell of bleach which gave me a headache while waiting to check in.I'm all about cleanliness but too strong. every room did not have... an iron ...i called the week before to ask about this and they said yes...not true. . we were in a hurry for a family event. we had to call for an iron and wait for it. The second bed that my 2 boys 5 and 6 years old were sleeping on had cigarette burns all over it and this is supposed to be a smoke free room. all the front desk could say is sorry..nothing else. no breakfast here. other hotels charge the same as what I paid here and it was poor in these areas I mentioned. we were going to stay another day but decided not to. not going to be staying here again. dissapointed.

Review 12：Our non smoking superior king had a bit of a stale air smell. And the small fridge was only mildly cool, not cold. I did report it to the desk at our checkout and they said they would have maintenance look into that. I am sure they did. We would stay here again on our next visit to the area.

Review 13：The location was very central to our visit. Lots of restaurants close by as well as the highway. And of course the Starbucks just across the parking lot. All of the staff we encountered on our Friday & Saturday night stay were very pleasant and extremely helpful.

Review 14：Wrong number on key card when I tried to order a pizza caused a little problem. This had nothing to do with Red Roof.

Review 18：For a non-smoking room, the cigarette smell was very strong. I managed to tolerate it for one night but I probably will not be using Red Roof again. This location was a working man's motel and, perhaps, really not appropriate for a woman alone.

Review 22：The room was suppose to be non smoking and they sprayed air fresherner to hid it and a few hours later you could smell the smoke the comforter has a cigarette burn in it the shelf along the back of the bed had a very big brown stain from cigarettes I would never stay at a Red Roof again.

Review 23：Although our room was "non smoking" there was still a sting smell in the room. People were consistently standing on the walkways smoking. My child has a breathing problem so it was really important for non smoking to truly mean non smoking. There should be a designated place for smokers to go that will not infringe on non smokers. Also the vending machine did not work (I tried more than once) and there did not seem to be enough staff at check in and throughout the evening.

Review 26：Location, close to highway/freeway. Having a Starbucks next door was a major bonus for us. The Inn it's self was nice, clean, staff friendly and free wifi. Beds were comfortable and we got the exact room we had booked. We will en staying at a Red Roof again, highly recommend this location in Hickory, NC.
