Reviews for Red Tail Ranch

Review 1:This isn't a negative, as we liked the serenity and solitude of the location, but guests should be aware it is about an hour to drive to Yosemite.

Review 2:The room, property and hosts gave a very homely feel to our stay. The room and private bathroom was very spacious and comfortable. We also enjoyed being able to use the BBQ provided to us. Deborah and Kevin were lovely and gave us great advice about Yosemite.

Review 3:Our stay was most enjoyable. .The Ranch is a beautiful place, clean and the room was luxurious .I enjoyed the hot tub outside under the starry night sky.Our hosts Deborah and Kenneth made us most welcome, and her breakfasts were delicious.Highly recomended.

Review 4:Having to leave Red Tail Ranch

Review 5:Great place to stay for peace & quiet. Owners of property are first class people & could not have been more helpful. Their home became ours

Review 6:Nothing at all.

Review 7:What was there not to like???? Deborah and Kevin are most excellent hosts at a great place in a great location - excellent room, magic humourous most convivial company, absolutely excellent 11 out of 10 all round.

Review 8:Beautiful house, quiet location, fantastic hosts! Deborah served a beautiful fresh breakfast every day. Deborah and Kevin also had great recommendations for hikes and sights in Yosemite park. Very relaxing stay, the room and bathroon were very clean

Review 9:Nothing

Review 10:Fantastic and knowledgeable host who made us feel right at home. Lovely dogs (ideal if you are missing your own). Beautiful setting and accommodation and the great breakfasts. Wish we'd stayed for longer.

Review 11:Our stay was absolutely delightful, Deborah's hospitality and breakfast was sensational. The Ranch is situated in a perfect spot and we felt as being home away from home.

Review 12:none

Review 13:Our stay at the Red Tail Ranch exceeded our family's expectations! The personalized attention to details to accommodate all the needs of the guests were amazing. The property is gorgeous with several relaxing seating outdoors to view nature's various vignettes. We enjoyed the different personalities of the Ranch's dogs along with the horses, and 40 some odd chickens! There are dog guided trails to stroll the property too! The breakfasts presentations were over the top and oh so scrumptious! But mostly, Deborah & Kevin, the proprietors, were extremely gracious, knowledgeable about the area, and just spectacular people. Our 14 year old son thought the Red Tail Ranch was the best place we have ever stayed! Of course this is most positively due to Kevin keeping our son busy with either ranch chores like feeding the horses or fun trail rides on the Ranch's mobile mule. Our family felt so comfortable staying with Deborah and Kevin. It was like we were visiting close family. The three days we spent at the Red Tail Ranch was the highlight of our seven day vacation.

Review 14:Deborah is a very good hostess and creates these magical breakfasts. She was also very helpful with recommending places to go in Yosemite and with recommending restaurants.

Review 15:Having to leave!

Review 16:Staying here was one of the hi-lights of our trip, it is a very special place. The accommodation was excellent, clean and well equipped, the owners made us feel so welcome, the breakfasts were fantastic ( the owner is a great cook). We really did not want to leave.

Review 17:Wonderful location, hosts were extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel completely at home, serving a great home-cooked breakfast and allowing us to use the well equipped and very clean kitches for ourselves in the evenings. Great to sit outdoors in the evening on the terrace and in the hot tub watching the stars. Less than half an hour driving from main entrance to Yosemite.

Review 18:Can't think of anything we didn't like apart from wasps!!!!!!!!!

Review 19:Photos don't do it justice so beautiful .Breakfast different but so good .What a lovely couple .The dogs are very well behaved .Also husband had a reaction to wasp sting and Kevin the owner drove us to the hospital 45 mins away!!!

Review 20:The Red Tail Ranch is spectacular. Kevin and Deborah were genuine, down to earth, and kind people. We really enjoyed the experience there. Privacy, cleanliness, ridiculously good food, a comfortable bed, and if you would like a stimulating conversation they're both engaging but not intrusive. We loved staying there and would return in a heart beat.

Review 21:Nothing at all!

Review 22:- very comfy bed, large bedroom and bathroom, all amenities provided - amazing breakfasts home cooked by the host - the owners are amazingly helpful and friendly, we sat with a beer/wine in the evenings over a fire and chatted the evening away, they really make the ranch a special place. - for animal lovers it is a paradise, 3 horses, plenty of chickens and 4 wonderfully cuddly friendly dogs - relaxed atmosphere and wonderful hot tub

Review 23:The location is peaceful, innkeepers are awesome, view is incredible and the dogs are sweet. The breakfasts were some of the best I have ever had. This made my trip to Yosemite even better than I had imagined.

Review 24:As soon as we drove up to the house we were greeted by all of the dogs (who are super friendly) and the owner. She made us feel right at home. The breakfasts were amazing BTW.

Review 25:Beautiful house, animals, decorations, wonderful breakfast and hosts! They are very welcome your coming and very nice to us and also enthusiastic, the most impressive is that Deborah waited us back to home until 10:00pm due to we went to Yosemite. We love it all and I am so glad to share with everyone! You will miss everything after you leave.

Review 26:Nothing at all

Review 27:MOST comfortable bed, delicious-beyond-belief breakfasts, warm and friendly hosts, beautiful home and surroundings, awesome dogs!, SO restful and relaxing!!! Didn't want to leave!!

Review 28:Nothing to criticise.

Review 29:We stayed in the owners' room which was en suite, spacious and comfortable. Very warm welcome, great breakfast and good advice on visiting Josemite. The ranch environment meant no traffic noise, plenty of space and even a hot tub.

Review 30:That we only stayed one night. We would love to come back for a week in the future!!

Review 31:The whole experience at Red Tail Ranch was perfect. The dogs came to greet us as we drove up the long drive welcoming us to the ranch. The house looked over a beautiful meadow that was made picture perfect by the deer grazing peacefully. Deborah and Kevin were wonderful hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed their company. The house itself was beautifully presented and very spacious. We were lucky to have the place to ourselves so took full advantage of an evening under the stars in the hot tub. After the hustle and bustle of San Fran RTR was the perfect place to relax and unwind. With the town 15 minutes away and Yosemite only 40 minutes down the road the location couldn't be better.

Review 32:Absolutely nothing!

Review 33:We loved everything! Kevin and Debbie were so welcoming! The dogs were so loveable and I needed that being away from mine. I could've spent the entire honeymoon there.

Review 34:Debra and Kevin is just the nicest host, so helpful and the breakfast is just 5*. The outdoor Jacuzzi just gave a mind blowing view. I would love conning back her

Review 35:Zilch!

Humming birds, bluebirds, woodpeckers, deer, Debbie made us feel very welcome, the ample home cooked breakfasts, with sweet brûlée muffins, and berry filled pancakes for afters, Wow! She also gave us great advice about Yosemite (stunning scenery)! Nearby village great fun, Old Iron Stone Saloon, Olde Vintage Tea Shop, village store, etc! We,ll cherish our time sitting in the outside hot-tub with navy blue sky dotted with stars above us! Absolutely loved it! Thank you Debbie, and good luck to Rick on his next date! Hope your hubbie,s soon better! Loved your doggies too! X

Review 40:It was slightly far away for our tour which departed from the Yosemite lodge.

Review 41:Deborah was a fantastic host. Wonderfully welcoming without being overbearing and genuinely helpful and accommodating. The house looks out on to a meadow with hummingbirds and other wild birds feeding just outside the window. The breakfast was fantastic!

Review 42:It was a fantastic stay in a wonderful house with a delicious, fresh breakfast. The nights are quiet and you can watch the stars from the yakuzi. At the amazing ranch are humming-birds, horses, chickens and you can pet friendly dogs. The hosts are very friendly, cordially and helpful.

Review 72:Absolutely nothing.

Review 73:The hosts Deborah and Kevin are absolutely brilliant. Their home becomes your home from the hot tub under the stars, the barbecue and patio, to their beautiful home overlooking a meadow with humming birds and the friendliest dogs you will ever meet. They even take you for a walk round the trail on the property. Don't waste anymore time looking for anywhere else to stay near to Yosemite. If you can get a room book it and enjoy old school hospitality in a clean, modern and wonderfully presented home.

Review 74:Nothing.

Review 75:Everything, from the welcoming hosts over the nice guesthouse to the beautiful surroundings. The place is a birder's dream, with woodpeckers, quail, hummingbirds etc to be spotted from the backyard deck. And we were served by very far the best 2 breakfasts we had on our entire 3 week trip in California!

Review 76:We liked everything about Red Tail Ranch - very welcoming hostess and host, splendid family home in a peaceful and relaxing setting with lots of wildlife around, handily placed for Yosemite Park. We stayed 3 nights - should have stayed longer!

Review 77:It's certainly a hidden gem! Everything is impeccable. It's like home away from home, the place is clean and tidy. Deborah and Ken were very friendly and helpful in providing travel tips to Yosemite. Breakfasts were just awesome - everything homemade by Deborah. If I will be visiting the Park again, I will certainly stay with them again!

Review 78:We had an excellent time at the Red Tail Ranch. The hospitality was great and the owners, Deborah and Kevin, were extremely helpful. They went way beyond what we expected and also helped us make the best use of our time at Yosemite. We spent two nights there and drove from this home base to different Yosemite sights over two days. Some of the nicest scenery and roads are along these different routes which you wouldn't get to see if staying within the park itself. Based on our trip, it would've been great to stay a little longer. We would recommend staying three full days/nights here to get the most of the surrounding area of Red Tail and also Yosemite park.

Review 79:An amazing stay in a fabulous place. The room was spotless, the breakfast our favourite out of all the breakfasts we have had on our road-trip, great local knowledge, adorable pets who are kept mostly outside and from how clean it is, you wouldn't even know they had pets. Would recommend anyone to stay here. The hot tub in the evening was a highlight, especially seeing shooting stars! Such amazing and caring hosts going the extra mile which is rare to find. Thank you for making our Yosemite trip the highlight out of our three weeks in California!

Review 80:We really enjoyed everything about this place, including atmosphere of the place, décor, and uniqueness. The owners were amazing people and Deborah is an excellent cook. We cannot expect more!

Review 81:Red Tail Ranch is just perfect, with a beautiful setting and the best family to look after you! We would have loved to have stayed longer and enjoyed Deborah's breakfasts, not to mention the great travel tips from her, Kevin and Rick. The location is great if you like rural, Groveland isn't far with good food and the park itself is wonderful!

Review 82:Nothing. It was the best place we have ever stayed. We didn't want to leave. Thank you Deborah and Kevin.

Review 83:Everything. It was wonderful. The owners are lovely people and can't do enough for you. The location is amazing. The ranch is beautiful. The breakfast is delicious.

Review 84:Warm welcome, working ranch, good conversation, comfort and food. Friendly dogs, wild deer, woodpeckers and humming birds. Close to Yosemite and on the edge of the Rim Fire area.

Review 85:There's nothing not to like.

Review 86:Kevin and Deborah who own the Ranch were fantastic hosts. We stayed in many different places during our trip but this was by far the best. The room was luxurious and the breakfasts were delicious.

Review 87:Kind welcoming. Furry friends. Awesome egg quiche for breakfast. Hummingbird. Above all, morning coffee with great view from the bench just outside of the house. That washed away our fatigue from hectic travel schedule!

Review 88:very nice and quiet location, tasteful bedroom and bathroom Very friendly hostess, excellent breakfast. In the evening we sat on the wonderful patio and enjoyed the quietness. In the morning we were woken up by the birds singing. It was like paradise and a shame we could only stay for one night. If possible we will come back

Review 89:Can't think of a single thing.

Review 90:Peace and quiet. Lovely spacious property. Horses, chickens (fresh eggs), Red Tail Hawks and hummingbirds. Scrumptious home-made breakfast feasts! Outdoor Jacuzzi spa, star-spangled skies...Lovely, hospitable, informative hosts and gentle, supremely behaved resident dogs all make this gem just outside Yosemite a home away from home; a revitalizing retreat!

Review 91:We loved the beautiful setting, the peace and quiet, the wonderful variety of birds, the dogs, the breakfast, the attention to detail, the decorating style, and the owners.

Review 92:The suite we were staying in was superb: spacious, clean and homely, with a variety of goodies: bathrobes, soaps and homemade cookies. Breakfast was perfect and the owners, Deborah and Kevin, were great hosts. We were sad to leave but will surely come back.

Review 93:One suggestion can be to install a bigger sign at the entrance of the Ranch, to make it more easy to find the place at night.

Review 94:The hospitality and warm reception of the owners, the quite and relaxed familiar atmosphere, the size and cleanliness of the bedroom, bath and rooms. It is a real nice and beautiful place to stay in for a while.

Review 95:The owners, Deborah and Kevin were so gracious and delightful hosts. The ranch was so serene and peaceful. A real place to get away from it all. We ventured into Yosemite daily , it's a bit of a drive , but the beauty surrounding the ranch was worth the stay and promoted much needed rest and relaxation. The nightly jacuzzi under the stars was exactly what we needed after a day of hiking Thank you Deborah and Kevin Ps. Breakfast...superb!

Review 96:The surroundings were idyllic, the owners were welcoming, the breakfasts were stupendous, the bird life was abundant. We felt at home, we made friends and we were sorry to leave.

Review 97:It was a wonderful place to stay. The owners were charming and helpedin every situation. It was like staying in a family ! We absolutelyrecommend to stay at this place. Trip to Yosemite Village took approx.1 hour by car. It seemed to be the nearest opportunity to stay outsideof the parc.

Review 98:Nothing ... it's location may seen as a downside but once there youwill realise it is not

Review 99:The house is wonderful and has a beautiful sun soaked deck with anoutdoor hot tub. The views from the deck, kitchen and living room overthe grass meadow are super. Its a hidden gem. So tranquil and loads ofbirds and animals about. Its an operating farm so checking out thehorses & chickens was cool. However the no. 1 for this place areDeborah & Kevin the owners. 2 fantastic people who had a cold beersfor us on arrival. They took time to sit and chat in the sun deck withus and offered all their advice on planning our treks for the followingdays. The are very friendly cool people. The breakfast we had thefollowing morning was hands down the best we had in California. There isno way you will be disappointed. For all dog lovers the 4 dogs on theproperty are great ... alll different characters. I would highlyrecommend staying here

Review 100:The small town of Groveland is not a touriost destination.

Review 101:The hosts have converted their lovely 2 bedroom home into a B&B and done an excellent job. Consider this as a destination in itself rather than a commuter stop for visitors to Yosemite, distances and travel times can be long.

Review 102:Absolutely everything!! Including the owners!

Review 103:lovelly people, charming house, if you like animals and nature, this is the best place to go.

Review 104:Great breakfast, welcoming & friendly hosts, beautiful spot!

Review 105:very nice owner, good room, and facility, nice breakfast
