Reviews for Happiness Resort Sukhothai
Review 1:I had a wonderful time at this place. The owner and staff are very kind and helped me a lot. The bungalow was very clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were so delicious! This is the best place I had stayed in Thailand this travel.
Review 2:We had a great time at the happiness resort. The staff is very friendly, will try to help you where ever they can and try very hard to make you feel at home (which we did :) ). The bungalow is very clean, aswell as the bathroom. The resort is located a bit outside of the small town, which means you hear nothing but the nature at night. If you dont plan on renting a bicycle, you will probably have to get a tuktuk everytime you want to go somewhere. An absolute lovely place, we recommend it to everyone! :)
Review 3:The place is outside of old Sukhothai center around 2-3 mins by scooter.
Review 4:The owner and receptionist are very friendly. You can hear sound from birds and enjoy fresh air in the morning
Review 5:The Lady that runs the place is extremely nice. She also organized dinner for us and free taxi service. You need to consider that the place is hidden away from everything a part from the temple. You can hire bikes from her to get to the park. She has good prices for them.
Review 6:All was good. Can't complain about anything...
Review 7:Staff was extremely helpful. They arranged tuk tuk for us, gave us touristic information... And quickly answered every need we had. The bungalow was beautiful and extremely clean. Only downside was maybe the bathroom (shower close to the toilet), but probably only because the room was so beautiful. Good location, since terrain is pretty flat you can get anywhere by bicycle (they rent then at the hotel) quite easily, while enjoying the surroundings. Dinner was really delicious.
Review 8:A little bit further away from the historical park (entrance!) that I thought
Review 9:Lovely owner, helping wherever she could. We could rent bikes at the resort for our visit of the historical park and also got a little map from the owner to help us with our visit.
Review 10:Small problems with WiFi after 10 pm, no breakfast included. Bicycles are almost dead) 20 min walk to the main street.
Review 11:Cute little place a bit on a distance from the town center. Nice tidy room. Countryside surroundings. Very nice hostess.
Review 12:If you want peace of mind for a few days, this place is a small haven. The owners will make you feel at home and will do the upmost to make your stay enjoyable.
Review 13:Hotel is 1.5km from old town. This suited us because we had a car, but without transport it's a bit isolated.
Review 14:Very clean and comfortable. Beautifully designed complex, which provided a relaxing and peaceful stay. Staff very friendly, helpful and spoke good English. Dinner was excellent.
Review 15:Beautiful setting, wonderful staff, comfortable, clean charming bungalow. It is a few km out of town, but an easy bike ride and they provide the bikes.
Review 16:Owner told us a tuk tuk into town would be 20B so we booked one only to be told when the tuk tuk arrived it was 70B instead which was disappointing to be mislead
Review 17:Simple and nice hotel, the owner was very friendly
Review 18:Its a really nice place to stay even though, or especially because, its a 5minute drive with the bicycle out of the old town. The owner is such a nice and heartwarming person, always smiling and truly caring about her guests. One day we came back late to the resort and it was already dark, so she went looking for us with her motorbike to enlighten us the way back home. Later she told us she were looking for us more than an hour because she was concerned! Staying at hapiness resort is more staying with family than staying in a hotel! We loved it!
Review 19:The location is a little off in the countryside, but it's not that bad and it's a nice itinerary from the hotel to the Historical Park, passing by other temples.
Review 20:The lady who runs the hotel is very sweet and will do everything she can to help you, with a big smile. She also cooks excellent dishes! The bungalows are simple but comfortable
Review 21:Cozy Bungalows with Strong wifi Excellent breakfast And Dinner Location close to old city - you can go there by bike easily (only 50 Baht per day) Great Service - so we felt more like in a homestay
Review 22:For the price we paid for the room, we expected that at least OR the bike OR the breakfast was included. Sadly they were not. That's not fair. Moreover the pillows are really high and not comfortable at all. The WiFi is stable, but only if they remember to turn it on...
Review 23:The bungalow was really nice and the resort is really close to the Historical Park. We rent the bike at the hotel and easily spent all the day in the park. Moreover the stuff is really friendly: we arrived really late in the night from Chiang Mai, like around 2 am, and they waited until our arrive.
Review 24:Be aware it's not at walking distance to the entrance of Sukothai and it's not close to restaurants. You would have to rent a bike or a motorbike (better) anyway. It's easy done because the staff can strange everything for you.
Review 25:Right outside old Sukothai Surrounded by nature, very calm Staff very friendly and helpful (the woman helped us with everything: she arranged the motorbike rental, she called the taxi to the bus station, she also cooked dinner for us when kitchen was already closed!) Very clean Recommended!
Review 26:Wifi was broken but in our case it was not a problem as we bought prepaid interned cards for our mobiles To highlight smth that i did not enjoy, i dont get why some hotels have the shower next to the toilet. Maybe doing 2 things at the same time is a plus for some people
Review 27:Extremely nice service. We arrived slmost at 10PM and they made us a really good diner, don't missed Big room. Big bed. Very confortable. A/C. Free water. The breakfast was good as well I'd stay in the same place if come back again.
Review 28:Great resort, it has very nice and cosy bungelows. If you have bikes or a car the location is good. Only 5-10min cycling to the historical park, be aware you have lights when it gets dark, the road towards the resort isn't lit. Very friendly staff! They try to help with everything you ask, any time. At the reception is a folder for mountainbike tours. Tip: do the countryside tour! Visit the historical park by your own.
Review 29:Location is a bit far from other restaurants and stores, so you have to have wheels to get around. Not a problem with the bicycles available at the property, but just beware it gets pretty dark at night on the back roads.
Review 30:Quiet and peaceful ambiance - just 6 bungalows at this property, close to old city so easy to get around - we rented a motorbike from the hotel and found it very easy to navigate the Sukhothai historical park from there. The best part is probably the staff - Dew was so helpful in helping us arrange transportation and also with changing our outgoing bus ticket so we could leave from the old city stop (5 min ride) rather than having to trek back to the new city (12 km and 30 min ride).
Review 31:No complaints.
Review 32:The owner is well English speaking, friendly, very informative and helpful. Location seemed remote at first, then turned out to be an advance. We jogged and cycled the other road - much more authentic and interesting - to come in and out of the history town. Simple place, but nice to stay. Would choose it again.
Review 33:We arrived at 9pm in new city so we paid a lot for 'taxi' to go to old city to get this place.
Review 34:Room is great but there's some spiders and other kinds of bugs.
Review 35:leaving
Review 36:The bungalows are very nicely decorated, clean sheets, comfy bed . We were lucky enough to be in the deluxe which was very spacious. Excellent Air Con and Wifi Food very tasty Fridge is a nice addition
Review 37:MOVING ON
Review 38:Great spot to stay in this small town. Just outside of town by a quick and VERY EASY bike ride that made the journey very nice in the mornings and evenings. We had such a great time and would have loved to stay longer than go up to any big city's.
Review 39:The staff are the friendliest people you will meet, they went out of their way for us more than once and made sure everything was perfect throughout our stay. The bungalows were clean and nicely decorated. We hired bikes from them and went down to the historical village which was stunning. I literally can not fault this place- it's not far from town but far enough to feel like you're in a little oasis away from the rest of the world.
Review 40:It was a little bit out of town, but by car or bike it is easy and nice next to a wat.
Review 41:The resort is really quiet, the bungalows are spacious and comfortable, the beds are perfect. Really clean and just nice.
Review 42:Location too far from main city streets, round 2 km.
Review 43:Nice and clean small bungalows. Friendly owner, quite location but unfortunately quite far from main city street. While walking it felt like ages altogether was about 2 km to the place from bus stop in city
Review 44:Arriving at the resort, our eyes lit up. The place is indeed a bit ouside of the old town of sukhothai but it only benefits from that fact (bikes for 50 baht are available). The staff was extremly welcoming and friendly! We recommend everyone to stay at this beautiful place!
Review 45:Nothing, had a great stay
Review 46:The owners are very welcoming and want very much for their guests to be happy. The bungalows are small & simple, but clean & well maintained. Each has its own little porch. Air-con worked great. Food is tasty & healthy. They rent bikes that you can ride to the ruins. Location is a little farther out, but we liked that because it was quiet & peaceful. Lovely garden. Great value for money.
Review 47:The structure is quite far from the main route, so if you have to come back in the night with the bicycle (like we did) it might be a bit hard to find.
Review 48:Nice and clean rooms, surrounded by nature. Very relaxing atmosphere. The lady at the reception is very kind and helpful: we really enjoyed staying there.
Review 49:if you have a car, it is a great place to escape from the crowd while still within short distance to Sukhotahi old city. Extremely friendly staff and large room.
Review 50:nothing!
Review 51:the location is not perfect, but the owner can pick you up from the town centre or send you to town for free, who is a very nice lady. The bungalow is simply awesome, surrounded by various of plants, clean, comfort, air-con, hot shower, cannot request more, and also quiet! the food at the resort is also very good, and cheap! bike rental 50B per day!
Review 52:We didn't like having to leave!!!
Review 53:K. Dew, who owns and runs the Happiness Resort, is delightful and extremely helpful. The omelets at breakfast are the best I have ever had anywhere in the World. The bungalows are quite charming, well decorated and spotlessly clean. The location of the resort is quiet but with two alternative routes to visit the ruins of Old Sukothai, with delightful, interesting and little-visited temples along the way. Scooter hire was easy and cheap. Transport is necessary but very easy to arrange. A tuk-tuk to New Sukothai to the bus station arrived within minutes of our asking for it. We loved it.
Review 54:Since the hotel is a litte far from city centre and at night is very dark in the surroundings is not very easy to have dinner. We biked to the nearest hotel to have dinner and was a nice adventure.
Review 55:The bungalows are very cozy, clean, comfortable and well decorated. The staff was very nice and helped us with everything we needed - we rent two bikes for 2,5€ (100 bath) for all day, she called a tuk tuk for us to the next morning to go to the city center at 6 a.m.. The place is beautiful and with a bike you get the historical park in 10 minutes on a easy ride. So much value for money! We totally recommend.
Review 56:Sign in front off resort .ABF is a bit less.
Review 57:I would say this place is great than hotel. The owner always offering help while we stayed there.Clean and clam. Closed to old town.
Review 58:Very beautiful place, the owner takes a very good care of the property. Bungalows surrounded by a beautiful garden. Very comfortable and clean. You can rent a bike in the resort which is necessary because the resort is located outside the historical park (10min ride). The owner is very nice and helpful and speaks english. You can order a breakfast which is tasty.
Review 59:Road to the hotel was in very bad condition. Very big potholes. In themorning covered with bites - bedbugs?
Review 60:The owner showrd us fireflies in the jungle nextdoor. Nice place toexplore the sights from. Clean simple room wth style.
Review 61:nothing
Review 62:good location to visit the historical park, they have good bikes to rent, they can provide good breakfast, try the muesli style with a lot of fruit, it's a clean place
Review 63:- quality of the bikes - accesibility - after 5 p.m. you can reach the resort only by car (if you have one) or taxi / songathew from New Sukhotai (where you can get by bus) - wifi is being turned off in the evening and all night - cost of the transfers e.g. to Chiang Mai or so (I guess that is not a fault of the hotel itself, but just a warning to prearrange that earlier or in another way)
Review 64:location - historical park easy accesible by bike hired in the hotel apartment / bungallow - quite comfortable, reasonable quality (value for money); right size for 3 of us
Review 65:Though its only at a 10 minute cycling distance from the historical park, about half of this distance is pitch dark with no streetlights and few hotels, so it is scary to return here after sunset.
Review 66:Nice looking bungalows, spacious, comfortable, with your own little verandah to sit and relax. Reasonably priced, bicycles for hire for 50 baht/day, good breakfast, very helpful and friendly staff. In the morning, you can wake up to traditional Thai music playing somewhere in the distance. The best part was seeing fireflies at night all around the place!
Review 67:You will need a torch if you are returning on foot as the approach road is unlit.
Review 68:The staff were so helpful to me, fulfilling every request. I hired one of their well maintained bikes to get to the historical park. This resort has several ruined wats right outside the front gate. Was delighted to see fireflies around the garden at night.
Review 69:Lovely lady on reception, very helpful. Clean little bungalow, basic but cosy. Can rent a bike to go to the old town, not far from restaurants.
Review 70:Room very clean. Very quiet. Staff professional. Close to historical area.
Review 71:1. Location, 5 minutes cycle ride from old city. 2. Friendliness of owner & staff. 3. Evening food menu.
Review 72:I liked that it was somewhat isolated, not bunched into other bungalow complexes.
Review 73:Friendly, clean and nice location close to the historic district.
Review 74:Nice lady , clean bungalow .
Review 75:very helpful staff, convenient location for the sites, very quiet and family-like atmosphere
Review 76:Very kind and nice lady owner, cozy bungalows, comfortable bed, geenery everywhere, peacefull and quiet. Highly recommended.
Review 77:- breakfast could be better
Review 78:+ Late check in was possible + bicycle for rent available (10 min ride to the park) + staff was very nice
Review 79:wifi turned off at night.
Review 80:Friendly helpful manager. Pleasant 2 km bike ride to town past some old wats. Neat cabins with porch. Quiet location.
Review 81:Breakfast was tasty but small and expensive
Review 82:All was ok
Review 83:Location, very near historical park; little bungalow nice and clean. Loved the staff.
Review 84:The resort is little far from the town centre
Review 85:Friendly manager, quiet atmosphere.
Review 86:It's in old sukkothai, so it's good to stay nearby, but it's not a walking distance to old town. You need either a bicycle or a tuk tuk. It's in a dark road so to walk at night is scary. Besides, there's nothing nearby like restaurants, and the only option (recommended by them) is a restaurant not so far that was absolutely the worst food we had in Thailand. Don't go there! We also don't like that after 9pm they switch off the internet... so there's absolutely nothing to do but sleep... not even TV has something decent to watch...
Review 87:staff is super friendly, breakfast is deliciously freshly made, chalets are big and very nice. Great value for money. They have bicycles for rent, and called a tuk-tuk when we needed.
Review 88:This place was so charming. the lady who runs it with her sister, her name escapes me... well she was so nice and attentive and thoughtful. I, a solo female traveler, got in a little late. the place isn't far from the village but she still drove me on her scooter which was very considerate of her. the breakfast she made was delicious and giant! the bungalow was beautiful and it was a real treat to wake up to the cascading sounds of a million birds. I rented a bicycle from them and drove it to the historical park, which is a short but pleasant bike ride a way. my only regret is that i didn't stay there very long! this was some of the best hospitality i received in thailand!
Review 89:not so easy to find; coming from main road to historical park, the sign is hardly visible.
Review 90:very friendly and helpful people. friend of owner is German which is convenient for German travellers (good conversation, helpful information). Resort is fairly new, nice cottages, garden still under construction, but already very nice. quiet place. nice veranda for breakfast; good restaurant in beautiful location in neighbourhood
Review 91:We were very pleased with our stay in the Happiness Resort. We came there in quite unusual circumstances: our child was sick and we mixed up the rental dates: in result we came a day earlier than booked. The hosts were extremely helpful and they found us a spare bungalow, arranged food from a nearby restaurant, helped to find a doctor and offered to help in translation if the doctor wouldn't speak English. Finally, all ended well thanks to invaluable help of the hosts. The resort itself is very nice, situated in a very calm place. The cosy bungalows are clean and tidy, surrounded with flowers and lush greenery. We had a rental car and this is a good option, however people without small kids might use bicycles (provided by the resort) to get to the historical park which is not far away, but rather not within a walking distance. We are happy to recommend the resort to everybody visiting Sukhothai and we would love to stay there again.
Review 92:No pool after a long day of tourist activities. A/C sufficed.
Review 93:Dew was an amazing hostess. She made us feel so comfortable by giving us choice of breakfasts, ordered excellent dinners delivered to Happiness from nearby restaurant, called for tuk - tuk each morning to take us to the old city/historical park. Because the beer in her cold cabinet wasn't very cold, she sent for colder beer for us!
Review 94:My friend and I booked for 2 nights and then added one more night of our stay. The place was quiet and very nice, they did a very well maintenance to the place. Dew was very helpful during our stay there on arranging the transport for us to get around the Historical Park.
Review 95:Friendly staff. Nice chalets with a good breakfast. All round, good value for money.
Review 96:Great place not far from Sukhothai Historical Park; I will come again
Review 97:Hard to find by night
Review 98:Very close to the temple
