Reviews for Downtown Erie Hotel

Review 1:I wanted to give it "negative stars" but it won't let me.This isn't even a 1 !!! This hotel was straight out of a 70'shorror movie! The lobby had a sewage pipe that ran through it and itstinks up the whole lobby. We were just looking for a cheap/decentplace to sleep for the night with no perks, this was horrible and notworth $5!!! The worst was finding an opened condom wrapper the nextmorning that was clearly tucked in the comforter on the floor. It wasextremely rundown, no hot water in the room (barely even warm) and thebathroom had a tub and toilet (and dirty grout everywhere). I looked forbedbugs but luckily didn't find any, mainly because the mattress waswrapped in plastic! The beds seemed to tilt downwards at the headboad. When I mentioned the condom wrapper to the clerk she said "Oh,I've told that cleaning lady not to cut corners." what??? Paythe extra money not to stay here!!!!!!

Review 2:Lobby smelled like death, rm was dirty! It was buy far the worst hotel I ever stayed at, pool wasn't open, my guess they couldn't keep it clean, pictures on booking.com look nothing like the hotel.

Review 3:Staff unprofessional, room filthy dirty, damp smell, spiders and flies in the room. It looked like the room hadn't been cleaned in weeks. All the towels were dirty when we informed the member of staff on the desk he didn't really seem to care. Very poor hotel

Review 4:Everything else. This hotel was run down and filthy. There's a corroded see drain in exposed in the lobby. The smell was horrible. The man working front desk was rude and even yelling at someone on the phone. Never again.

Review 5:Location was the only good thing about this place. We we close to everything we wanted to do.

Review 6:cleanliness (no tissues; one bar of soap; mirror needed cleaned; cobwebs in the corner of bedroom ceiling; deadbolt broken on door; carpet was very dirty and needed cleaning, and mildew on bathtub wall).

Review 7:location and the price of the room (especially during the holiday weekend).

Review 8:booking.com rating it 3 stars. It was dirty and disgusting. Read the 10 reviews before mine to understand how bad this is. If your home is a hovel you will be okay with this property. I will not trust a booking.com star rating without being more thorough in my research. I paid $100 to think about sleeping in my car.

Review 9:maybe location to state st

Review 10:The hotel is between an ambulance station which go off several times a night and train track which pass by several times a night. Very noisy. The ceiling was falling apart in the main room and in the shower. Noisy air conditioners.

Review 11:Our hotel room stunk and had spiders and bugs in it. Spider webs in all the corners. I was very unsatisfied with the stay especially when they charge 130 a night!! Would not recommend at all. Clean it up!!

Review 12:Nothing.

Review 13:No wi fi in rooms you have to go to loby to get connected, old tv and beds, rooms smells like hell, dirty carpet, corridor is so dirty, sink and showers are clogged, front desk is kind of mean

Review 14:none, horrible hotel

Review 15:The bedding was terrible had to change my bedding due to blood stains on the comforter and blanket, the wifi suck and the remotes didn't work for the TV had to use my hand to change the channel.

Review 16:The location was good where we stayed, close to the beaches and the mall, and the amusement park. The breakfast was good

Review 17:Rooms dirty, used condoms in the draw, no swimming pool, no lounge, internet did not work, no hot water, switched rooms because TV didn't work no water no internet, this hotel should be condemned!

Review 18:Close to everything go on but nothing about the hotel!

Review 19:The staff was rudy and the rooms and lobby was dirty. The lobby and rooms smelled like mold the rooms had cob webs and floors needed vaccum.

Review 20:That it had breakfast and free WiFi.

Review 21:Horrible hotel in bad neighborhood. Picture looks nothing like hotel. I would never stay at this place again. Looks like something out of a horror movie

Review 22:It was a bit pricey.

Review 23:Location- close to everything we wanted to do: beach, zoo, casino. Pictures of rooms on website looked exactly like the room that we stayed in.

Review 24:The room, bed and pillows were great. The staff were very friendly andwe found it a great location to explore the area. We skipped the freebreakfast since we discovered The Breakfast Place - Eggs Benedict$5.25!!! Presque Isle State Park is free and has a 13 mile loop forwalking or riding. Lots of shade, beaches, a lighthouse, places topicnic and a fun day or two. Union Station Brewerie is a short walk fromthe hotel and offers a great assortment of meals and is in the old trainstation. Grove City Outlet is only 1 hour away and there are two sweetold towns close by - Old Grove City with placards explaining the historyand Sharon, the home of Quaker Steak and Lube, Winner - 4 stories ofwedding dresses, gowns, cruise wear etc. and the world's largestshoe store with over 100,000 pairs of brand name easy and hard to findsizes. Plus, there is a river running through the centre of town. Enjoyyour getaway!!

Review 25:Lots of problems with the rooms: Sofia bed broken, tub did not drain, bathroom light not working, did not bring requested bed cot. There was no wifi in the rooms.Ongoing fight of other customers, lasting from 12am to 3am outside near broken swimming pool.

Review 26:Glad only stayed one night.

Review 27:Pool was not in working condition as stated in web site. Winter cover was still on pool. Was on second floor, had to go to 4th floor for ice. No other machines were working. Not the cleanest place to stay.

Review 28:Good air conditioning in room.

Review 29:Disappointed the pool was closed. And the breakfast selection was below average,

Review 30:Good location to Presque Isle and the Casino without spending a lot of money for a room.

Review 31:No hot water Carpets were discusting Front lobby smelled like mildew Hotel has only one elevator. Felt like it was going to break down at any moment

Review 32:Not much

Review 33:pool closed, wifi doesnt work, condom wrapper found in room. no vending machines, ice machines broke. dead bolt on door missing. place needs shut down!

Review 34:place should be shut down. ill be contacting the better business bureau on this place

Review 35:Did not get accommodations I made on reservation a month a head of time and no one called me to discuss this. Then the pool was apparently closed for the season.... Also not called about. I took my sons, 6 & 4 the pool was a huge seller to me. Then our first room had no hot water... We moved to a second room.... Smelled like an old ash try. My son has asthma. So by the time we settled it was on the third floor. Fridge had mold in it. And there was no breakfast as advertised. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 36:Pool was not open. What was once a nice hotel, is now run down. Stale continental breakfast. Poor water pressure with lukewarm water.

Review 37:Close to stuff that we wanted to do. Met basic needs.

Review 38:The whole place smelled. Was dingy looking. They advertised a pool andthe pool was not opened.AND Its july. I was supposed to have a pull outsofa and there was none the ceiling had holesand stains like there was aleak. Were supposed to have breakfast but it was not offered. The guy atthe front desk was creepy and uninviting. The blanket on the bed hadcigarette burns and large brown stains. The door had to be slammed toclose all the way. The latch on the DOOor was broken off didnt feelsafe. The air conditioning didn't work and they sent the maintenanceman up who got it started. After fidgeting with it for 10-15 minutes. The hot water didn't work in the shower for over 20 minutes of waterrunning. The elevators stopped working. And we had to walk up the stairsto the 3rd floor with all of our things. Horrible horrible experience ifdidn't have my children and extra blankets I would of slept in mycar. To be so far from home and stuck at this place was very upsetting.I would never recommend anyone stay here and really think I deserve mymoney back.

Review 39:Nothing was likeable.. From start to finish it was a horrible experienceand I called several other hotels to find another place to stay buteveryone was booked due to it being the 4th of July.

Review 40:I did not like this hotel at all and will never book there. The pool is not open . The Elevator is in not maintained. Did not work a lot of the time. I am disable and was put on the 2nd floor.

Review 41:No WiFi in guest rooms..no available working ice machine..no breakfast food.. pool out of servicccce!!

Review 42:Easy to get around for me.just an overnite or weekend get away spot..take what you need including food ice..smhno

Review 43:We did not like anything about our stay. Dirty, stained sheets, layers flaking off inside the commode, no hot water, very low water pressure, dust bunnies everywhere.

Review 44:I called while u was booking online to ask if I could get a smoking room..she yes. Select that option and type it in the comments, so I did. I get there...they put me in a non smoking room!! I didn't expect a 4 or 5 star hotel but at least half way decent. No ice on any floor, shower was broken, found a child's sandal next to bed. A.c barely worked. And the pool was not filled a run down.

Review 45:Nothing. The pictures are deceiving.

Review 46:NO Pool , No WiFi , No breakfast , as advertised. Food in the refrigerator , nasty stuff on the bathroom wall, mold in the coffee pot, and so much more.

Review 47:The Bed was the only good thing that the hotel offered.

Review 48:Ice machine not working. Had to go up to front desk to get ice. Only gave half a container. Pool was not operable. Dirty windows and needed upkeep repairs. Breakfast only on weekend and not worth wating your time on. WAS DISAPPOINTED FOR WHAT I GOT FOR THE MONEY SPENT. Would not stay there again. Motel 6 is better.

Review 49:Handicap bath had lot of space. Shower was easy to get into. Water could have been hotter.

Review 50:Price is not reasonable. I would pay two times less. Hotel is very outdated, hallways are dirty, light in the bathroom flickered on and off , water was changing from hot to cold while taking shower, bedclothes had cigarette burns. Didn't feel comfortable at all.

Review 51:Although room and building are very outdated, it was pretty clean inside the room. No smoke smell.

Review 52:Water came out brown from the sink and black from the tub, every chair in the room had a questionable stain on it, dark creepy hallways, outdated rooms

Review 53:- Dead bugs on the floor upon arrival! - Nobody to do the daily room cleaning! - No ice available! - TV was not working! - Smoke smelly room!

Review 54:- Location

Review 55:Broken toilet seat, no water pressure in shower, dirty soap left in shower. Very weak or no wifi signal unless you walked around the room. No breakfast at all only saw an empty vending machine in hall.

Review 56:Location to presque isle, casino etc... was convenient

Review 57:Elevator broke, dirty stairwells. no breakfast. gym under renovation it said. slept on top of blankets. sheet dirty. no hot water. lukewarm at best.

Review 58:Location/ was center of 2 bowling alleys that youth tournaments were at

Review 59:non smoking room reeked of smoke. room was dirty, I cleaned w/ clorox wipes. inappropriate items left under bed. no towels or washcloths in room, when asked was only given 2 towels, no washcloths on the permises & hotel was not busy. continental breakfast was apparently non existant & no working ice machines on the property as advertised.

Review 60:the beds were comfortable & the location was close to the venue we were at for the weekend

Review 61:This was the dirtiest hotel I have ever seen. The linens were bloody and the only thing good was that I was warm and not sleeping in my car. Although it was so filthy I didn't shower in the filthy bathroom or sit in the disgusting chairs.

Review 62:There were no redeeming qualities about this facility.

Review 63:What I got is not what I reserved. Bathroom light did not work in first room. Second room given was filthy, no wash clothes. Pubic hair all over the walls of shower. Staff, had attitude they did not care. Filthy outside, elevator did not work properly.

Review 64:The room was extremely cold! My son was just getting over bronchitis, and begged me to leave since it was so cold! We both felt very uncomfortable with the setup of the hotel. Had to go thru an outdoor, dimly lit hallway to get to our room, and did not feel safe. Decided to leave to go elsewhere after 45 min. Asked for partial refund, and they refused. Lost my $92 (the max this place should've been worth would've been $30 a night), but left anyway for the safety of my 11 yr old son. Will never stay again! Would highly recommend u to not even consider this place an option!

Review 65:Nothing!

Review 66:No free breakfast available???

Review 67:Easy to get around..a lot of things accessible by walking..free trolley to transportation station..indoor waiting facility.greyhound.

Review 68:The showers did not work right and the water never got above luke warm. there was a big gap under the door of the 1st room we were in on our 3 day stay allowing frigid cold air to blow in. We asked for another room because of those things and found the same problems along with a missing security latch. We had to crawl over mound up snow while carrying our luggage, the snow had been plowed out of the parking area and pushed in front of the walks and the walks were not even cleaned of snow. The elevator door would not close completely so we carried our luggage up the stairs. They advertise a continental breakfast, that is non existence. We even had to ask for the coffee maker for the 2nd room. This motel is in a "not so good" area. We wanted something closer to Hamot Med Center that would not break the bank this was the least expensive but next time I need a motel in the Erie area I will travel a bit farther because all the motels are over priced for what you get. Stay away from the Americas Best in this area to. We stayed there the first night all I can for that one is that is was fairly clean, neither motel had micro's or fridge in the room, quality is very poor on both motels, pricey for what you get. Pics of these rooms online are very deceiving, beware!

Review 69:nothing

Review 70:Our door wouldn't lock . We were given another room that had a verydimly lit bathroom and the outlet next to the bed didn't work. Theparking lot also had snow that wasn't cleared very well, especiallyat the entrances.

Review 71:Clean, comfortable room, friendly staff, good location and a good price.

Review 72:It's outdated and needs a decent make over. The shower was terrible.

Review 73:The location is great for an overnight stay we arrived at 9.30pm and checked out at 5.30am so it was good value for money

Review 74:Hotel completely outdated, needs to be torn down or updated. No hot water at night or during the day. It is run down, definitely not a 3 star as booking.com said. I would book at a hotel closer to the interstates if I were to do it again.

Review 75:Bed was comfortable, that's about it.

Review 76:The room was filthy and disgusting. It is located in a sketchy part of town right next to the railroad tracks with annoying freight train whisles. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at!

Review 77:There is nothing to like about this place.

Review 78:Don't eat the breakfast, it is horrible. The wafflemaker is filthy, the cerial was in stale as could be.

Review 79:Most Stall was nice, one guy couldn't speak english, room was comfortable, close to the lake.

Review 80:Room and bathroom dirty, inside lock bar broken looked like door was kicked in and never repaired. Too much activity in parking lot after dark.0

Review 81:The desk person was great.

Review 82:This is an old property with a musty smell from one corner to the next. The hotel came equipped with its own gang banger right in the lobby. People that we had spoke with would have gone elsewhere if the end result would had been less than losing money. Will not ever stay there again

Review 83:The pool was dirty, cloudy, and the vacuum had been left in it while swimmers were in it. I asked for handicap accessible and our room was on 2nd floor. Gentleman at desk wasnt very pleasant.

Review 84:Room was clean

Review 85:when i called to ask about wifi because i needed a password the lady said there wasnt one so i was not able to get online and do my school work

Review 86:having a pool the parking

Review 87:dog was continuously barking in the room next door (this is a pet free hotel) and it took three calls to the desk and 4 hours to get this resolved; very limited breakfast items, hallway doors slammed shut whenever someone went through.

Review 88:Lay the seats back and sleep in the car !!! Not worth $50 just feltcheated out of $100.carpet,blankets bathroom were nasty, the sheetslooked clean so we pretty much stayed on the bed like it was a island.Very very disappointing to say the least !!!!

Review 89:Could use some maintenance. It's a place to sleep, not live, so take it for what it is. We saved a few bucks so I'm not going to judge too harshly.

Review 90:Friendly staff

Review 91:It is sad that $107 can't get you a room with a microwave and fridge. The site said the suites had a sleeper sofa, which it did not. The site also says the hotel has a bar/lounge. It looks like it hasn't been open in years.

Review 92:The room was clean.

Review 93:The hotel needs updates. The towels are very thin and very stiff. The blankets on the beds are worn thin. The shower leaked, the water reservoir in the coffee pot was nasty. No guide for television channels.

Review 94:The hotel is extremely run down. The mattresses were dirty and very icky to think about sleeping on. There was also a lot of loitering going on outside that made us feel uncomfortable.

Review 95:The location was the closest to the beach for cheap.

Review 96:Shower did not work great. Luke warm water. Made loud noise when using.Went for continnetal breakfast at 8:30 am. was out of everything.

Review 97:Was close to what we wanted.

Review 98:The ceiling was peeling and falling apart. There was duct tape across the floor seems. There was a large gap under the door, and the walls were stained. Our room had a large piece of carpet that had fallen off the side of the wall. The room was filthy and I expected cockroaches to appear at any moment.

Review 99:Absolutely NOTHING!!!!

Review 100:Security, vehicle in parking lot had all four tires flattened. Two days to get the flickering bulb in the bathroom repaired.

Review 101:Near the hospital. I could visit family.

Review 102:Whole hotel seemed poorly maintained and neglected. Many rooms were simply left uncleaned. Ice machines did not work. Wi Fi did not work in the room. Cigarette smell in hallways.

Review 103:Room was okay.

Review 104:We were not given the room we booked. Room they gave us was smaller. Price was different than what we were quoted. Clerk told us we could not get early check in because they don't do that after we were to we were good to go on line. Later the manger told us that we had early check in. Our reservations included our tiny dog. Manager all but accused my wife of lying about the dog. Added a fee to our bill. We thought it was already added. Not enough food for breakfast and what was available was stale. About 8 seats for customers to sit and eat. We have stayed in hotels all over the world and this is the worst place we have ever stayed. This place really give Erie a bad name. Rude front desk. Also we were told that if you book a room from a third party than there is not a guarantee we will get what we were told. Never again will I stay in this place.

Review 105:Breakfast. Non existent WIFI, dark rooms despite all lights on and the 1980s TV.

Review 106:The hotel was fully booked August 2nd weekend but never heard a toilet flush or other guests talking or TVs. Amazingly quiet.

Review 107:The room was dirty, extremely noisy and the bed was very uncomfortable. The bedding was very old and the coffee maker did not work. There wasn't even a remote control for the tv. Couldn't wait to check out

Review 108:They said free wi-fi there was none except lobby or pool. The sweeperwas in the pool the whole day and night friday night, We had a smokingroom and there was no ashtrays in the room, Hair dryer didn't work, room was filthy, food all over the walls and looked like chocolate milkon the curtains, couldn't see out the windows, Burnt holes all overthe tub and sink, comforters smelled and had holes in them, not enoughtowels or wash cloths in room, mirrors filthy, Had to wear shoes thewhole time because the carpet was filthy, Bed springs were nasty, ourson found a ink pen in his bed,Just gross!!!

Review 109:The gentleman at the front desk was wonderful,They don't want tolose him, He was awesome.

Review 110:I don't even know where to start. All of the bad reviews are true. The bedding had cigarette burns in the bottom blanket (which was a non smoking room), the bathroom light flickered on and off so we had to shower with the bathroom door open, the shower was horrible and needs to be redone (Very grimy and the walls were peeling), the body towels had yellow stains on them and a pubic hair stuck in it, the wifi didn't work and last but not least....they had nasty old mattresses outside of the hotel room doors in the walkway. Never again in my life would I stay there or have my worst enemy stay there. I read the reviews before I booked the room but I figured "we were only going to sleep there" so we'll give it a try anyway and lord did I make a BIG mistake. Run from this hotel

Review 111:Nothing at all

Review 112:No hot water in the morning Tired and worn mattress Bathroom door stuck open Seemed to have last been updated 20 or 30 years ago Breakfast appeared to be several days old

Review 113:Front desk clerk was pleasant and helpful with a restaurant recommendation Otherwise this place was awful

Review 114:Area the hotel is in. Had to call the front desk in the middle of the night because of the arguments going on next door with plainly hear foul language. The breakfast bar was a joke. Would never stay in a place like this again.

Review 115:Room dirty at checkin. Garbage not emptied. Second room booked notanywhere close even with request in advance. Noone spoke English. Noheated outdoor pool as stated on website. No fridge or microwave aspromised unless we paid $20 per day extra. No water pressure. No hotwater our last evening there. Breakfast was disgusting. Milk warm cerealstale. Blankets had crust on them and after several requests never gotclean ones. Housekeeping smoked in our room when they came the first daydespite the nonsmoking room and sign threatening a $200 fine if smokedin. We walked in on them smoking. Awful pitiful stay.

Review 116:We liked when it was time to leave.

Review 117:I have no complaints,

Review 118:I liked that the staff was so friendly and the price was very reasonable. The hotel is very nicely located and was easy to find. I will use this facility again.

Review 119:Outside of building is run down and seedy looking. Hair dryer in our room and that of several others didn't work. Crumbs on the floor, dead bug on the bathroom floor, no security latch on door, bath towels were like sandpaper and shower constantly had Luke warm or cold water. This place is built for spite. Highly recommend this place if you want to screw over someone you don't like.

Review 120:Close proximity to the Roar On The Shore mororcycle rally.

Review 121:poor breakfast selection, weak coffee, watered down juice, some corridor floors were tiled and some not, causing possible tripping hazard. We have no water and no flush toilets for several hours one day, elevator did not always operate, one ice machine per whole hotel

Review 122:Loby was clean and rooms were clean

Review 123:Facilities were bad....remote didn't work for tv...no channel guide either. Alarm clock did not work and was not replaced during stay even though I took it to the desk within an hour of check in and asked for a replacement.

Review 124:Location

Review 125:horrible breakfast. no hot water. 1 working ice machine. sometimes working elevator. no extra pillow in the whole hotel. people living in the hotel.

Review 126:room was clean. pool was nice. however will NEVER stay there again.

Review 127:They really need to clean up property with some pain and general maintenance. I was told vending machines don't work, our door you had to make sure you slammed close, abandoned car in the parking lot. While our room was clean enough there was papers left behind under couch, a hole was forming in the ceiling of the bathroom, the pool had the cleaning hose in it for almost 2 days straight with no one using it, pool on the outside needs painted, the 3rd floor used to have ice machine now only a pipe is left, they have duct tape on the stairs. The list could go on and on. It was over priced for the condition of the place even with staying there over the 4th of july.

Review 128:was close to Waldermeer and Lake Erie

Review 129:Place looked a little run down on the inside. The elevator needed painted and lights cleaned. They had signs posted for ice machine locations, for 2nd,3rd and 4th floors. There was no ice machine on the 3rd floor.

Review 130:It was in the center of town basically which made it easy to get around and back to the hotel. Staff were nice and polite. Rooms were clean and well organized and equipped.

Review 131:Very out dated, In need of general repairs/upkeep. There is no "breakfast". There is no Wi-Fi either.

Review 132:Housekeepers were awesome. Good Location. Pool was open. Overall OK, nothing special but if you don't want to spend an arm and a leg then this place is fine. Its worth $60-$65 a night max.
