Reviews for Lake House at High Peaks Resort

Review 1:It was a Motel not a Hotel. This may be better for families. Our room was by the game room and so it was very noisy late at night. It probably is not a bad place, however, we normally stay at a higher end hotel.

Review 2:The rooms advertised free kayaks. That was why we rented from this hotel. We got there Columbus Day and it was beautiful out. They had already out the kayaks put away and we had to go find a rental place in town and spend $50 to rent 2 kayaks. That wasn't an expense we planned on.

Review 3:We loved the location. We got great views of Mirror Lake and the Fall Foliage. It had free parking and we could walk just a few feet to the Main Street shopping.

Review 4:Only real problem with the rooms were that the bathroom had no ceiling fans. It was kind of odd. The bathroom would get pretty steamy and you could tell the ceilings in the bathrooms were starting to show signs of steam damage. Not sure why they didn't put these in the bathrooms....

Review 5:We traveled here for our first anniversary. We were given a free bottle of chilled champagne and glasses which was very nice! We switched our room with no problems after a day or so because there was a better lake view. We stayed 8 nights and we really enjoyed everything about our stay. Great place! We would return.

Review 6:The air conditioner did not work correctly, it was uncomfortable at times and carbon monoxide detect malfunctioned.

Review 7:Nice view plus easy to walk all through town.

Review 8:Maybe I need to get into shape so all those stairs to and from the lakeside pool wouldn't seem so bad :-)

Review 9:We came to Lake Placid to get away from the day to day work and family stressors and found the Lake House to be the best medicine for unwinding and relaxing! We plan on making this an annual end of the summer event! The views were wonderful and the location was very quiet! The Top of the Park restaurant across the street was extraordinary! It would be negligent of me not to mention John at the front desk! An amazing host that made us feel right at home and Nancy on the bar was friendly and efficient. A+ for customer service!

Review 10:The room was a bit small for the amount furniture placed in it. Matress was too soft.

Review 11:Central Location Love the main hall. We did not stay long enough to have a chance to use it but I can imagine in the fall or winter it could be great place to socialize

Review 12:Charged $12 for a continental breakfast that I thought was part of the stay. Could have had a hot full breakfast at a restaurant for that price.

Review 13:Clean rooms. Well kept up hotel.

Review 14:The bathtub drained very slowly (we mentioned this to staff on second day but there was no follow-up during our 5-day stay); sink water faucet dripped. Noisy air conditioner and heating system would require an upgrade.

Review 15:The young people at the reception desk were very professional, welcoming and went out of their way to be helpful. Other staff (cleaning) very helpful, too. The room was spacious and the view of the lake was much appreciated. Each room has its own private area with chairs to sit outside. Access to lake, pools, and use of paddle boats, etc. is a bonus. The hotel has cement walls between rooms so there is very little noise. Hotel location is excellent on the corner of two main streets and across the street from the lake. Beds are comfortable.

Review 16:Breakfast cost was too high First room we got had horrible view and had we had yo stay there we would have hated it. They were very accommodating because it wasn't full

Review 17:The location and the view and the kayaks

Review 18:Would have preferred room with better view of lake. Happy hour drinks at bar were overpriced. Not so happy at over $19 for two small glasses of wine.

Review 19:Spacious room, very clean, excellent staff. Allowed us to keep room till 12 midday when transport arrived

Review 20:I don't like the fact that I was given one price and charged a whole lot more!!! Because of this I probably will never stay there again!

Review 21:I loved the view from my room. I had a nice view of the lake.

Review 22:Our room was a little small since we opted for King, but we saw the 2 queen size bed rooms next door and they were very roomy.

Review 23:The bed was very comfortable and the breakfasts we signed up for at a nominal fee of $10 per person were wonderful.

Review 24:Great facility, but not really a bargain. OK for the price, but the price was not cheap.

Review 25:staff are great. High rise was quiet and a great location, though the lobby in the other building was much nicer and interesting, though we were told the rooms would probably be noisier

Review 26:Bathroom with dried feces on outside of toilet. Dried on scum in sink.Hair on walls of shower and a small nest of bugs in a crack on the rub.Pillows were terrible! Color scheme of hotel in not warm and inviting.Dark grey and bright red? Inside and out.

Review 27:Comfy bed.

Review 28:Too expensive! On top of our $199 room, we were charged an additional $54 for our little yorkie - that was excessive. The office was across the street, & there were no parking spaces left by evening.

Review 29:Where it was & our room.

Review 30:No breakfast is horrible. Rooms are tiny as are bathrooms.

Review 31:Location is good. Staff are nice, but the price is stupid for this repainted motel !

Review 32:Room full of noisy young hockey players next door. They were very loud both at night time and six o'clock AM!

Review 33:Location!

Review 34:Old Facility. Not updated as much as the price might justify

Review 35:Rustic. Nice View

Review 36:At hey actually moved us to the High Peaks Resort across the street. Loved the balsam scent in the bar.

Review 37:The staff was extremely friendly, and the re-done room was very nice.We would stay there again, or reccommend it to friends.
