Reviews for High Peaks Resort

Review 1:The hot tub was not in operation across the street at the Lake House? That would have been nice after a day of skiing!

Review 2:A wonderful hotel that has everything a family needs!

Review 3:Our room was next to the elevator and the door to the parking garage. Could hear every time the elevator moved. Could hear anytime someone came in or out of the building

Review 4:Very convenient to Main Street

Review 5:Over $200 a night and no room service? Dancing bear could easily accommodate. Why not? Spa manicure a disaster. Had to fix it myself in the room, and polish peeled off by day 3. Should also have info I rooms about local attractions and things to do

Review 6:Dancing bear restaurant was wonderful. Food and service excellent. Location excellent. Room comfortable. View great. Parking convenient. Jennie bartender above par-excellent. Jennifer in spa-wonderful massage!!

Review 7:The balcony had an indirect view of the lake and needs updating. The railing wasn't very sturdy. There was a sewer-like smell in the hallway outside our room.

Review 8:The location was nice and the room was comfortable.

Review 9:The first floor rooms open out directly to the ground level and the pool. If you're concerned about privacy from people passing by and in summertime activity around the pool, request a room on a higher floor.

Review 10:Great location and very nice rooms. No charge for convenient parking.

Review 11:The room we got was not as shown in the hotel site and was located out side the resort.very disapointing. We had to cross a road to get to main building and hotel restaurant, as outside was endless pouring rain. Poor architecture. ugly colors and design. Furniture looked old though well taken care. The first room we got was supposed to be facing the lake, what we found was a big swimming pool fence that blocked all view from us,and there was an unpleasant smell in this room. Room was changed to our request.

Review 12:Clean room, friendly porter.Good bathroom.

Review 13:We loved our large, very clean room, when we were not walking the village. My wife very much enjoyed the spa that is attached to the resort, and the staff was friendly and helpful in selecting one of the many restaurants for dinner.

Review 14:Check in was confusing about how to find our room. Also had pool in front of our room that blocked our view of the lake.

Review 15:Enjoyed being right on the lake.

Review 16:The fruit tree in the courtyard blocks the view of the lake. The furnishing and wallpaper of the room looked very dated, like something from the 1980's. Still a nice and clean room, but just needs some more modern furnishing.

Review 17:Complimentary kayaks on Mirror Lake. Shower had that bounce light effect with rain shower head. Speaker in bathroom to hear the TV.

Review 18:I did not like animals sleeping in the rooms. Had to ask for a different room because of the barking and trying to get out the door. I requested an upper floor room but was not given one upon checkin.

Review 19:location was very convenient to local shops and the parking was too. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 20:Housekeeping staff is terrible-- each day that we encountered them in the halls, there were at least 2 or 3 and they would be chatting away. Then when we get to our rooms, the bed is halfway made with no replacement of supplies (glass cups and soaps, etc.) No vacuuming-- crumbs left by our children were there for days despite our requests for vacuuming. Housekeeping staff needs to be all replaced!!! :(

Review 21:Very accommodating front desk staff; Amazing location-- perfect for families with young children.

Review 22:There are so many dogs at this hotel and you can hear them barking in the rooms and on the grounds and in the fitness centre. Can be disruptive to other guests. It would be best to have all animals on ground floors only and put some restrictions in place. Dogs in a fitness room should be avoided. All other aspects of this hotel is excellent:)

Review 23:The staff are very willing to please and went above and beyond to help make our stay and celebration the best it could be. The hotel offers a few pools that are spotlessly cared for. There are free boats and the view is spectacular! Location is the best! Great omelettes in dancing bears restaurant:)

Review 24:Difficult to log on to wiFi.

Review 25:Managers reception. Comfort of bed. The VIEW! Friendly, attentive concierge.unbelievable value for the facility. We will be back...with friends.

Review 26:thought price of breakfast at Dancing Bears was a little pricey.

Review 27:Everything was amazing. Overall experience of High Peaks anfd Lake Placid was truly breathtaking.

Review 28:Housekeeping was awful. They "attended" to our room at 6:30P.M., never vacuumed, left water on the bathroom floor. Called guestservices to let them know and they said "thanks". Also, inroom coffee set up has milk and cream stored next to coffee maker, noton ice or in refrigerator. Hello? No map of facilities to be foundanywhere either.

Review 29:Location Great, close to everything. Check in Easy. View was ok. Parkinggreat too.

Review 30:The house keeping didn't clean the room. They were just tiding up the bed and that's it. They have put new towels but never removed the used ones. We had to ask for shampoo etc when we ran out of it after day 1.

Review 31:Location and the design of the rooms.

Review 32:The bed was very soft. So soft you were enveloped by it. It's a lot of personal preference but the bed was hard to sleep in because of this. The WiFi also cut out regularly on my devices.

Review 33:The staff were very friendly and the room was very clean.

Review 34:We came back to the property 3days later and the room they gave us (715)not on the same par as the first one(701) Mattress in 715 washorrible!!! Did not sleep much. Mentioned this to Management and offeredto reduce my bill by $20.00. I was shocked! Instead they comp the movieI watched, was not happy...only reason I didn't complain more...dueto the room(701) we had the first time

Review 35:Overlooking the lake

Review 36:Superb management staff, all personnel were some of the best we have encountered from 2 star to 5 star facilities. The staff from the managers to the restaurant personnel were as pleasant and efficient as anyone would expect. Great job!!!

Review 37:The Dancing Bears restuarant service was horrible. Went for a drink on Saturday night and the bartender had an attitude. Had one drink and went across the street. Next morning we tried it for breakfast. Had to wait 20 minutes for a table even though there were 4 or 5 open tables that just needed to be cleared. Finally got seated and then the waitress went right by us 4 times and never even acknowledged us. Needless to say we got up and left after sitting there for another 20 minutes. Pathetic.

Review 38:Great location, rooms were really nice, bed was comfortable, front desk staff very accomodating.

Review 39:The Wi-Fi was very slow when it worked at all. In spite of being a large room it felt crowded after bringing in my luggage and gear. For the price we paid the amenities and facilities didn't really stand out in quality or ease of use. There was plenty of available space in the Dancing Bear but they wouldn't seat us because "the kitchen was backed up." I discovered a brownish-red "mystery stain" on the duvet at the foot of the bed when I was packing up to leave...not in my face, but...yuck.

Review 40:The room was large and the L - shaped couch was nice. The parking was plentiful and easy. There are lots of options when it comes to facilities and amenities.

Review 41:none

Review 42:Wonderful modern hotel. Really nice room yet retaining the Adirondack atmosphere by way of the furnishings. It was also very quiet but yet in the heart of town of Lake Placid.

Review 43:Unfortunenately the weekend we stayed was the one the hotel picked toclose the pool and dining room for maintenance

Review 44:As requested we were provided with a handicapped accessible room . wehave traveled quite a lot and this room exceeded any other stay

Review 45:The dancing bears restaurant on site is over priced and over rated.

Review 46:I booked a double queen(only available option) I asked in the comment section to be upgraded to a king if possible because it was our anniversary and they did put us in a king room and gave us champagne and strawberries with a very nice hand written note. It was a beautiful gesture that I will remember.

Review 47:While the room seemed renovated and we were told that it recently was. It had the feeling of being old and not in a good way. Overall cost was $200 and I understand the cost of location but . . .

Review 48:The room is dusty with an old dirty carpet. The spa is from the 70 S. No micro-wave oven in the room at this price .

Review 49:location, pools, gym, hall, lake acces, free kayak acces

Review 50:I've been at this hotel a few times since I travel to Lake Plaid frequently. I have had good experiences in the past but this time it was exceptionally poor. I called in advance to confirm my reservation and verify I had a balcony with lake view. I was told I did. My room did not have a balcony. The room also ran out of tissue and toilet paper. The hair dryer did not work. And the straw that broke the camel's back: no coffee stirrers. Not a pleasant morning. But maybe I should have expected this stay would be bad from the way it started. I was waiting to get checked in when another man walks up to the desk and the receptionist checked him in instead of me

Review 51:aging exterior and balcony needed repair. Disgusting amount of big spiders and webs in the hallway windows. The hallways seemed to be unairconditioned, very stuffy and old, but rooms were fine.

Review 52:Nicely appointed bathroom, clean and tidy, bed adjustments are not great, air conditioning was comfortable

Review 53:The rooms are not well insulated and noise from the hallway travels well into the rooms. Some guests were very noisy early in the morning.

Review 54:The hotel is centrally located on Lake Placid's main street with easy access to shops and restaurant. All rooms have a small balcony to sit on and view the lake (but not all rooms have a view of the lake). The staff were very friendly and helpful. The afternoon cookies and lemonade in the lobby were a pleasant surprise.

Review 55:Didn't have tea in the room

Review 56:Lobby

Review 57:Nothing

Review 58:Staff was very friendly, room was great, location and veiw were excellent

Review 59:Not a bad experience but would have liked a bill at the end so I cna make sure I ewas charged properly.

Review 60:Noisy, kids running up and down halls. Screaming children from 6 to 9 pm.

Review 68:The location and the information desk. The staff were very helpful.

Review 71:Room was very comfortable

Review 72:know one explained what the site had to offer and what was included in our stay

Review 73:location and offerings

Review 74:Little pricey.

Review 75:Location to main street was perfect. Rooms were clean. Parking was nice and secure. Not a better place to stay in that location.

Review 76:The shower had some mold around tile and glass door.

Review 77:View of Mirror Lake and access to hotel kayaks.

Review 78:To many dogs. In the hotel. Horrible barking dogs

Review 79:Everything. But there were dogs in hotel

Review 83:I liked everything from location to service.

Review 84:Pets everywhere, barking, left alone in the rooms. Definitely won't be back.

Review 85:Awesome location... in the middle of downtown Lake Placid

Review 86:Was promised early check in time. That never occurred. Front desk staff not very friendly. Hot tub was not very hot.

Review 102:Nothing.

Review 103:Everything: location, room, décor, comfy beds, beautiful bathroom.

Review 104:Everything, the fireplace the bed, food the staff with their outfits....

Review 105:We were "upgraded" to a room that was not in the main hotel. It smelled like chlorine and for the fall season was not an upgrade.

Review 106:Got a good deal but price is normally a little high.

Review 107:Rooms were big and comfortable Great location

Review 108:Loved the service, very friendly atmosphere, loved the pools and Dancing Bears Restaurant! Our room was very nice and clean!

Review 109:Wish we had a room on the beach.

Review 110:No spa (massage was only appointment and did not include any spa service such as showers or steam room)

Review 111:Great view, staff was helpful

Review 112:Great facilities, nice pool. Comfortable and clean. Perfect location.

Review 113:Animals in rooms. Bathroom sink drained very slowly.

Review 114:Staff (including restaurant) was very friendly, helpful and considerate. Parking was convenient. Children friendly.

Review 115:What I didnt like was that the walls were paper thin. In the morning I could hear someone urinating in the next room then the toilet flushing. The pillows were not comphy at all. Its like it was all in pieces on the inside. Lastly the tv was nice but there was no channel finder. Had to wait on every channel before it showed up.

Review 116:I loved the remodeled spa like bathroom with the pocket door. The room was very nice.

Review 117:We thought we were going to have a king-size bed but our room wasupgraded to one right on Mirror Lake so we were fine with the doublebed. Apparently dogs are allowed in the hotel and the people next to usleft theirs alone in the room while they went to dinner. The poor thingwas barking up a storm. I called the front desk and they immediatelyresponded by contacting the guest to have him come back for the dog.

Review 118:Loved the new and beautifully designed, gi-normous bathroom with the walk-in shower, bathtub with jacuzzi jets, terrycloth bathrobes, slippers.Quiet for the most part, convenient parking, our room had a slidingglass door that looked out on Mirror Lake...gorgeous. Loved being ableto walk everywhere while not being in the middle of the village.

Review 119:No view of the lake

Review 120:Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was very nice.

Review 121:the view was limited

Review 122:the location was great for shopping, and dining
