Reviews for Cocopalm Beach Resort

Review 1:WiFi in accommodation area is very weak and often does not work - signal strength is good but bandwidth needs a major increase to accommodate all the guests. Restaurant food is average quality and 'western' Thai rather than traditional Thai. Too many smokers - mostly European tourists, who show no consideration for those who don't smoke (ie. moving away from food areas and to areas away from the pool or populated beach areas)!

Review 2:Location is right on the beach, lovely and relatively quiet Accommodation is spacious and comfortable Staff are very friendly and helpful. Resort held a wonderful New Years Eve Gala Dinner - entertainment was great and service was excellent.

Review 3:It is difficult to comprehend how an island like samui can accommodate international tourism without being able to speak English. Only the reception is reasonably well spoken, that's it. All other staff is basically not able to understand English...which can be very annoying at times. In my Particular case I ordered towels for the beach and received fruit.

Review 4:Location is good, charming restaurants alongside the small Lane, resort is an honest and we'll maintained property. Not the comfort of a 5star hotel but it has all one could ask for

Review 5:Beautiful place , great friendly staff, great location quieter beach , beautiful pool villa , Thanks to Not, Lay and Jane at the pool bar and Restaurant for looking after us and great reception staff very helpful ,

Review 6:- We got a bungalow away from the pool/restaurant and right next to reception. - We would have preferred a double or queen bed instead of two twins pushed together. - Would have preferred to be closer to pool. - The bungalows are comfortable but need a little maintenance (adds to their charm). - The resort needs more pool towels as they regularly ran out (maybe give people pool towel coupons at check-in) - There are dogs around the resort that are harmless. If you are not a dog person this may concern you. - If you want to get to the main beaches you would need to hire a scooter/motorbike, take the shuttle or get a taxi. Taxis can be expensive around the island.

Review 7:- Happy hour (100THB Cocktails) - Pool and restaurant - Scooter hire without deposit or passport (although they copy your passport when you check in anyway). Not sure what the going rate is along the street but usually they require you to leave your passport or a large deposit and can be a bit on the dodgy side. The resort was nothing like this. Easy to deal with. - Location (we preferred a quieter location away from Chewang and like beaches. - Lomphrayah Ferry is located right next door making it easy to get your ferry to the next island. - Would definitely stay again!

Review 8:the hotel is a bit off the main road, it takes 10 minutes' walk. the pool towels are old and a bit worn out.

Review 9:good clean hotel, the family bungalows are very spacious for a family of 4. the pool is well maintained, and the staff is very helpful. The hotel is right next to the Pier which makes it very convenient for travelling to Koh Pangan and Koh Toa

Review 10:Perfect location if you are planning to take the boat to Koh Tao from Maenam Pier. It is really 1 minute walk from the restaurant and you can even get the tickets directly in the hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff, nice bungalows. Good price-quality.

Review 11:The only minus (not a very important issue) the wifi was disconnected every 1min almost. Very annoying when trying to make a Skype call or similar. Reconnecting all the time. That's the only small issue.

Review 12:Nice and clean pool and garden. Good food in the restaurant. Nice beach and good walking distance from the rooms. Great personal in the restaurant and bar. Will definitely recommend this hotel to anybody. ?

Review 13:I was not crazy about the food at the restaurant, and the shower wasn't great.

Review 14:The staff were tremendously friendly and helpfull. I really liked the fact that you could use their computers and print documents, and there was no extra charge! I also liked the fact that the pool was open until late - often it closes at sunset. All in all a very nice stay, definitely recommended.

Review 15:Uncomfortable bed! Plus no bedside lighting to read by and lack of plugs. Disappointing choice of menu, catering more for European tastes rather than reflecting local fare.

Review 16:The staff were particularly helpful when dealing with a document to be courriered? Breakfast was a good selection. Location convenient with choice of beach and pool. Very quiet at all times (low season)!

Review 17:it's a little expensive, but the island is expensive. I hope a mosquito protection from the bed (a lot of mosquito the first night) for the price of the room Laundry and services are a little expensive too.

Review 18:The bungalow are nice This is a quiet place The beach is nice and the pool was quite good The bungalow was quite good

Review 19:We got a free upgrade to a bungalow, very quiet and very relaxing, we had a massage on the beach, nothing is to much trouble for the staff, they even have little golf carts to take you and you bags to the room, the food may be a little more but it was large portions and very tasty, next to the pier so close to walk, we never left the resort, nothing else around but for a few days relaxing it's perfect, lovely pool and plenty of beds on the beach, they even bring beer to the balcony of your room if you do want to stay up a little later

Review 20:The air con was super noisy which meant I couldnt sleep very well. In the end I just turned it off. However, I'm sure they would have moved me to another room but I had already settled and who knows if other air cons were the same old styles.

Review 21:The rooms were very clean. Also it was on a quiet beach which was very peaceful and relaxing. Great food and great breakfast.

Review 22:The beds were so hard it was hard to get comfortable.

Review 23:Lovely location and pretty grounds. Restaurant was very pleasant to dine in being right on the beach. Staff very attentive.

Review 24:Standard rooms booked through Booking.com are outdated with old furniture, too expensive for they are. In these rooms, the room service comes in the late afternoon.

Review 25:Nice beach and pool areas. Free transport at fixed times.

Review 26:The laundry and taxi service the hotel offers is over priced - walk down the road for a better deal!

Review 27:My husband and I (aged 30/28) came to Thailand for a mixture of things... Our stay at cocopalm was meant to be for R&R but we went on the kayak tour the second day to Angtong and had bamboo tattoos on the first day at Satang Bar so spent our evenings at the hotel. Our stay there was peaceful and lovely. We came in September 2015 and the hotel was so quiet and not too busy. There is so much to do on Ko Samui. You do not need to wait for a seat by the pool etc there is plenty of room! The beach is so close and we loved how quiet that was also. The food there is reasonably priced for all meals! My husband especially liked the deep fried icecream! The sea is beautiful, calm and cool! We ate at a few restaurants - all amazing!!

Review 28:Beach is superb, calm waters, just next to the pool, hence easy for the kids to go from one to the other and parents don't have to change place all the time. Pool is a dream for the kids, nice restaurants nearby, supermarket not far either. We rented a car from the hotel for one day, perfect service Breakfast was great, kids loved it

Review 29:there were lots of small stinging jellyfish in the sea, not the resorts fault but it made the sea unusable, think we were just unlucky with our timing, I don't think they always have them. Staff were unable to help us with onward travel by train as they didn't know how/where we could book it (if you need to book train/bus/boat combined tickets you just turn left out of the resort and walk down to the convenience store at the end of the road there is a travel agent behind it, alternatively turn right when reaching the convenience store and there are lots of places along the route to the main road. Unfortunately we booked a taxi to Bo Phut to book our travel because we were told there were no local travel agents) I'm not complaining as it was a mistake, just trying to help you out if you need onward travel.

Review 30:It was right on the beach and it has a lovely pool. The bungalow was really spacious and clean. Breakfast was a good mix of European and Asian food. Staff were nice.

Review 31:It's not a remote paradise, but you hardly find that on Ko Samui. Not the best place for solo travellers as there are mostly families and couples.

Review 32:Nice beach and pool, cosy deluxe bungalow, friendly staff. Lomprayah ferry pier is directly besides the hotel, after my stay I took the ferry to Ko Phangan, very convenient. Some good restaurants in walking distance.

Review 33:Free dogs, though they were not a nuisance by no means

Review 34:Nice, clean and comfortable hotel, good attention. Swimming pool clean and agreeable, very near to the beach

Review 35:Wifi is terrible - don't rely on it if you need to book flights, hotels etc! Staff clear one plate before others have finished eating very rude in my opinion

Review 36:Bungalow was nice with good bathrooms

Review 37:superior room is very low quality , and extra bed very expensive. go directly for deluxe which is nice and made for 3 people i asked to change , they proposed me an upgrade without telling it was additional ... not a good surprise on the checkout

Review 38:small resort on a nice beach very pleasant, a bit remote , to go somewhere. like everywhere in Samui hire scoter or car

Review 39:We had very small tiny Ants in our Bungalow that gave us bites, and the wounds got infected.

Review 40:A beautiful Bungalow complex with a feeling of living in a tropical garden. Flowers, birds and and well looked after walkways. They even drive you to Your bungalow with a Golfcar. And the Resturant and the "private" Beach was exellent. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very close to a lot of small resturants. And the close Ferrypier gave the hole place a sense of interesting calm action.

Review 41:There were quite a few ants in our room so don't have any food in the room. The bathroom has several windows with no blinds so someone outside could peek in and see you naked in the shower.

Review 42:The beach was amazing! The restaurant and bar had great food and drinks too. The pool was very nice. The staff was very friendly.

Review 43:Restaurant maybe bit expensive, rooms were good and simple, not special.

Review 44:Bungalow was fine and clean. Beach was very nice to swim and chill at the hotel beds and there were free towels. Restaurant food was very good! Location very convenient next to Maenam pier, as we went to Koh Phangnan after.

Review 45:Alot of wild dogs that bark at you and follow you when you are walking and they are also at the beach and swimming pool and just everywhere and sometimes they "gang" up on you maybe 4-6 dogs surrounding you and barking. I dont like dogs so I felt very bad walking around alone. Especially at nights

Review 46:I got a really bad sunburn my second day and the staff was very helpful. They went to the pharmacy for me and bought aloe vera cream because I couldnt walk because of the sunburn. The room service is excellent and I used it alot because of the sunburn. Had to stay longer to get better and that was no problem. The location is the best, right on the beach and there are also many restaurant, shops and massage places very close

Review 47:Staff doesn't speak much English. Closeness to the pier Maybe area is not very interesting, but we stayed only overnight and it was not the point.

Review 48:Very clean nice hotel. Nothing special. 1 min away from Lompraya pier , convenient for further traveling. I would come again.

Review 49:The place was big, not necessarily a bad thing, you wouldn't come here for a thai "experience" more of a getaway. I would have loved it more if we hadn't just stayed at the hammock down the road which I really liked

Review 50:Location next to the ko phangan boat is great, the staff are really nice and they have a golf buggy to carry your luggage, the restaurant has loads of variation at ok prices - happy hour cocktails 100B, the pool is lovely and breakfast is incredible (omelettes made in front if you and loads of different buffet foods)

Review 51:Nothing!

Review 52:Everything! The staff were all so happy and helpful. Right on the beach. Lovely buffet breakfast with a big variety of food. Big and clean pool. Quiet location but still enough restaurants and shops around. You can also rent a motorbike from them to get around the island. The room was really clean and comfortable.

Review 53:Very dirty. Didn't feel clean in bathroom at all. Horrible bed and dirty bedroom. We wore thongs even in the bedroom to protect our feet! Superior Room was a long way from pool. Not relaxing to stay in. Air con didn't work. For $80 they are laughing all the way to the bank. Was worth half that. Restaurant expensive too. I hope the rooms closer to the beach are nicer.

Review 54:The pool overlooking sea was great. The beach was beautiful to swim in. It's right next to Mae Nam pier - so getting to Koh Phangan or Koh Tao is really easy.

Review 55:Roaming dogs, bathroom tiles could do with re.grouting but positives far outweigh the negatives.

Review 56:The beach and pool, the garden, lovely breakfast, the wildlife.Easy walk to a range of good eating places,Poom's is so good.

Review 57:The sea is not crystal clear (like on Philippines, which is what I was expecting)... But it's like that in all the other beaches around the island.

Review 58:The beach is one of the best in the island. And the best part: it's not crowded and there are few vendors. The bungalows are beautiful and comfortable, thought the cheapest bungalows come in pairs : so you have a neighbour very close. All the other bungalows don't share a common wall, which gives them more privacy. The staff is super friendly and most of them speak English. The pool is in excellent conditions. There lots of options for the breakfast. Close to the hotel there are restaurants, massage parlours, laundry, pharmacy, drugstores, travel agencies and places to hire motorcycles... I absolutely recommend this hotel and this beach (Mae Nam).

Review 59:not enough sunbeds and sunshades and mostly broken. I forgot a birthdaypresent, but nobody was really interested to help me, to get it back!!

Review 60:beach-water good for swimming-bungalow-varied breakfast

Review 61:Staff werent really nice. Not many things around such as restaurants, bars, spa etc. restaurant was expensive, everything was double the price.

Review 62:Nice bungalow

Review 63:Bungalow was outdated and long way from the beach. Too few sunbeds and general atmosphere is lacking. Unfriendly staff at the poolbar.

Review 64:Very good Wifi. Beach is ok

Review 65:Could have more sunbeds on the beach especially since the resort is almost exclusively booked by Germans, who at least during or stay, stayed true to the stereotype of reserving sunbeds at 6am Could have been a bit cheaper

Review 66:Staff Beach (there are really NO downsides to being right next to the pier)

Review 67:Perfect location, nice bungalows and a good restaurant. Stayed for two days before heading off to Koh Tao and could easily have stayed longer. Will visit again for sure.

Review 68:The room was very small and poor. A bed and a wardrobe, thats all. No chair, nothing for the suitcase. I felt like a backpacker with everything on the floor. So take a bigger bungalow if you go there,

Review 69:The friendly staff, good restaurang, Close to the beach and nice garden.

Review 70:Quiet location, close to ferry pier (noise certainly wasn't an issue!), nice pool overlooking the beach. Although in a quiet area, there are plenty of restaurants close by.

Review 71:Not much at all ! Could do with a bit of refurb but considering price range it was great

Review 72:Location is secluded but again well located with few local restaurants (must try "MY PLACE" restaurants just minutes from te hotel on the road leading to Hotel. Wi-fi available everywhere including beach which wa great in order to spend a day at the beach and do research on where to go / what to do. Rent a scooter from reception and explore... Well worth it !!

Review 73:too few sunbeds at the beach, it's either you reserve at 7.00 in the morning or you don't get any

Review 74:hotel consists of individual bungalows in a very nice, well kept garden, amazing flowers and trees !! nice pool, nice beach, friendly staff, breakfast buffet, very efficient staff at the reception; numerous restaurants, beauty parlours, mini markets right at the hotel's entrance

Review 75:bad beach zone (not clean and the sand is not comfortable), situated near the pier with speedboats, bad kitchen et the restourant

Review 76:very nice place with great territory, nice pool and good rooms

Review 77:The beach wasn't great but we may have just been unlucky, maybe at a different time of year the sea would be calmer! The pool area / restaurant staff were not really that helpful. The hotel restaurant was very average at best.

Review 78:Great pool area Located right on the beach, easy walking distance to some bars and restaurants without being too busy. Spacious comfy clean rooms with modern bathrooms and quite private balconies Helpful reception staff

Review 79:Rooms close to pool and beach are well positioned. The others are rather 'estate' like and there is a lot of walking to get to reception/ pool/beach. However, a very pleasant resort for price and good eating area overlooking beach and pier for easy access to transfers to islands.

Review 80:Superior room is actually the lowest room, to enjoy the level of comfort we were expecting we had to upgrade to a Deluxe Room. Receptionist staff helpful but unfriendly. Only cleaned areas of room they had to, had to request cleaning once and clean towels on two occasions. Beach was dirty. Breakfast was random. Resort seemed to primarily cater for German visitors. Struggled to get sunbeds due to them being "reserved" before breakfast. Whole resort could do with a faceliift

Review 81:Pretty location in very pleasant surroundings

Review 82:All restaurants (including hotel) closes early. But we were just before the high season, so maybe that was a reason. The breakfast is expencive if you don't have it included in the room price.

Review 83:The hotel is just in front of the beach. The area of the pool is the same as in the pictures, with the view into the blue sea-beautiful. The restaurant of the hotel is very nice, especially for romantic dinner. Environment of the hotel is really taking cared - tropical flowers, palms and other exotical plants. We got the Superior Bungalow because the air conditioner in our Standart Bungalow was not working. So it was great value for the money. The Standart Bungalows were not so cozy. Just next to the hotel you can find everything what you need-money exchange, supermarket, laundry service, restaurants, bike rent, thai massage. The hotel is in the calm area, so don't expect parties. It is just next to the boat which you can take for going to other islands.

Review 84:You need to rent scooter or car if you wish to visit the island orherwise taxi can become expensive. Room a bit expensive but it was christmas period

Review 85:Restaurant and pool right on the beach - nice bungalow personel helpful nice and more quiet location on the island . Very cute street nearby with massage, restaurants etc..

Review 86:Though staff was very warm and helpful it was hard to communicate (my problem as much as theirs since it's their language?).

Review 87:We loved the quiet of the resort and the authentic restaurants in the neighborhood, as opposed to over development at Chaweng. Nice pool, lovely setting. Not for party crowd.

Review 88:nothing. Perfect stay.

Review 89:Great resort in a quiet area. The villa with private pool is just amazing. Amazing breakfast buffet and very attentive and friendly staff restaurant, reception, hsk, mnt. Some great restaurant walking distance , philip the german, and pooh thai cuisine. Don t come here if you look for downtown busy clubbing area. Free shuttle going to the center available, great wifi signal and free. Etc....

Review 90:Nothing

Review 91:Staff very frendly and very clean room.free wifi everywehere pool bar very very good make a cocktail pool bar barmen WInn he is very very frendly everthing is good hotel garden very big and very green i recommended everybody

Review 92:Nice staff, quiet area on Koh Samui Island. On the day of check-out the water supply was broken. As compensation we didn't have to pay for the transport to the airport.

Review 93:"I'm just doing my job" altitude Receptionist. Distance to Main Street is too far. (It will be nice that hotel offer the ride with Golf Cart for their guest. But they don't) Night time the road was very dark to walk.

Review 94:Clean and quite beach Ferry Pier is close to the hotel

Review 95:Beat to death bungalow, everything was worn down, no value for money at all, booked it because of the pier location for one night. 10 years ago I bet it was an amazing resort, but not today. Diaper in the pool made our day :D

Review 96:Location to the pier - no need to get ripped off by the taxi drivers, Beach was cool as well, there it ends

Review 97:Bathroom not very smart but everything worked fine Interconnecting door between rooms in bungalow - can hear a lot from next door so remember to keep the noise down! Needs better soundproofing.

Review 98:Easier to find than I thought Good bar by pool, nice stretch of beach Good range of food at breakfast Limited space to park car Nearby relaxed bars and shops Next to the pier and ferry stop

Review 99:Nothing really.

Review 100:A "real" thai experience. Not to many tourists and good restaurants nearby. The villa with pool was perfect with children 5-9, no rush to go to the large pool and beach. Really good value for money. Nice staff that like to entertain kids.

Review 101:Couldn't turn the overhead fan on above our bed without the light being on as well. First world problem!

Review 102:Great location, next to Maenam pier for boat to Koh Tao. Literally a 1 min walk. Clean, tidy, comfortable. Great staff. Decent food (although pricier than nearby places).

Review 103:Very nice And smiley. Very helpful giving a hand for all needs.

Review 104:the staff were extremely friendly, our rooms were very lovely!

Review 105:Ideal for a quiet break. Able to walk to other bars and restaurants within a few minutes.

Review 106:Very friendly staff always

Review 107:Prices in the restaurant quite high

Review 108:Nice pool and the beach, not very big but during our stay there was little people. Many restaurants nearby.

Review 109:Everything was perfect** Really good resort! 3min by walk to the local restaurants, thai restaurants, shops, massages...

Review 110:Joob, their receptionist is amazing. We loved you and super helpful and help to get my gopro back safely

Review 111:Would have preferred at least 1 separate bedroom

Review 112:Lovely location with very helpful staff

Review 113:Very nice hotel with a quiet beach. Very good breakfast.

Review 114:The beach, pool, everything.

Review 115:nothing

Review 116:everything

Review 117:Nothing.

Review 118:The facilities were spot on, and very close to where the ferry was. it was also a last minute booking and great value for money!

Review 119:mini car for transfers and need minimum 4 night stay.....

Review 120:nice staff, comfortable room, delicious breakfast, clean and beautiful beach, all is the best

Review 121:beautiful beach and beatiful houses

Review 122:room pretty simple for the price

Review 123:close to the pier

Review 124:Dark and dated bungalow. Old television. No tea and coffee making facilities. Pool towels in short supply.

Review 125:Location and the beach.

Review 126:Supremely friendly & helpful staff.

Review 127:Only taht the wifi in the rooms was not bery good.

Review 128:Nice hotel, pacefull location, the rooms are quite big and the pool is very nice,

Review 129:no english speaking books in library. breakfast ordinary

Review 130:quiet location clean beaches
