Reviews for Fair House Villas & Spa, Koh Samui
Review 1:The prpoperty a little far from the center but the have shuttle that goes to centre but the timings are not convenient. We had to pay for taxi to reach the center around 300 Bhat.
Review 2:I liked everything in this property. I stayed in beach villa with private pool, it was amazing. The plantation in the resort the view of sun set was fantastic. The staff was helpful and willing to assist in everything despite of their poor English.
Review 3:Bad service! Start from the customer service and all the way to the pepole that are working there. Made mistake by booking with wrong date, tried to fix it after 3 (!!!!!!) minutes and they refused, payd for extra fay without being able to cancel! Don't go over there! I want over there on my honeymoon and go the bad feeling ever
Review 4:Good location on the beach Good wifi coverage
Review 5:aged bathroom no bar on property (except pool bar that closes relatively early)
Review 6:location right at the beach beautiful sunset view and the whole bay of our room motorbike rental service (and good value for it) good breakfast with beautiful view of the restaurant
Review 7:for the price paid I would expect the hotel to be a little more generous on amenities. with a proper renovation this resort could be stunning. location is nice, a little away from the main road which mean you need organised transportation most of the time.
Review 8:peaceful, housekeeping lady was very friendly and always smiling. did a great job for us, not the case of all associates !
Review 9:- The gym is very poor, yet is used in the hotel's publicity shots, in which it looks much nicer than it is. No treadmill at all and the other machines barely working.
Review 10:- Idyllic beachfront location, wonderful uncrowded pool area. - Fantastic spacious pool villas - Location far enough from the chaos of Chaweng to find peace yet close enough to get there if desired. We rented a car (very cheap in Thailand) which is useful although not essential.
Review 11:Massage price was twice what we agreed upon. Remarks about this resulted in very unfriendly attitude. English very poor.
Review 12:Nice sunset view and nice garden.
Review 13:Way overpriced ( food 3 times more expensive than outside : diner buffet for 2 = 1400 thb), massages : 1200 to 1800 thb per person but only 300 thb Outside. Pick up from aiport :600 thb The room was nice in thai style but the shower was covered in mould (this can be simply cleaned with bleech), the jacuzzi was leaking ( i had read that same pbm in other reviews) Scooters for rental are very old machines These seem minir detail but remember we are talking about a 140 pounds per night room!
Review 14:Quiet location, beautiful view, friendly staff with good english (unlike other people's comment), beautiful restaurant by the beach
Review 15:Wifi is limited - poor connection and slow speed. Towels provided looked well used. Very few free shuttle bus trips to Chaweng provided per day.
Review 16:The location is really good, right on the beach and not too far from (or too close to) the airport. View is good from on the hill. Breakfast is good.
Review 17:Prices for hotel restaurant are radiculous - expensive for one time visit, nonsense for holiday quest. Few meter far one the bach you get same/better quality foor for 30-50% .. Sea and beach is not the best you can find. Hotel has poor beach and the next one is located near to ruins of old resort - not the best view
Review 18:Modern hotel with focus on customer satisfaction
Review 19:Unfortunately the staff weren't very helpful and the cleaners didn't seem to really clean the room, often things just pushed to the side to look tidy. Seems silly that they provided us with a hot tub but no instructions or bath soak/gel for it.
Review 20:Very picturesque location and the pool was fab. Great variety for breakfast Loved the sunset suite, definitely the best room.
Review 21:Superb location, with beautiful sunsets and a very special beach. Everything was clean and tidy, with plenty of facilities and good food. We came for our honey moon and found the resort absolutely fabulous and unique. You have to take your time to explore the entire resort and enjoy it. We planted a tree and with our name next to it so we can return to see it grown. Highly recommending this resort !!!
Review 22:Food well presented but not good quality and not as described. We had a sunset suite which has a hike to and from the pool
Review 23:Nice location site for the hotel itself, nice rooms
Review 24:Prices at restaurant are a bit too high.
Review 25:Beautifully arranged and designed resort. Very nice and spacious bungalows (really big/high ceiling/bath as big as main room). Well kept plants/trees/palms in the whole resort. Extraordinary helpful staff at the reception, at booking counter and in the whole resort. Great breakfast Buffet. And a very nice Pool!
Review 26:Orginlall room was steep hill up couldn't do with small kids. Staff was not greet poor English average sercice. Not really value for money
Review 27:The pool villa was comfortable
Review 28:Very unfriendly staff. The walk to our room was up hill and even dough we're sporty people it was quite a hike and it left is out of breath and very sweaty. Also the walk to the pool is at least 10 minutes. The gym was not very good, no treadmill and very small.
Review 29:The jacuzzi with the view on our balcony was amazing!!!
Review 30:My partner is Thai and lives on Samui sometimes we stay at Fairhouse for some respite from parents , and one night she had a argument with parent and on this night was by the sea front at night on own upset, there was 2 young English couples drunk playing about in the surf making noise and my partner asked them to keep noise down and the females became abusive, so i hope the women concerned read this as i never got a chance to have a quiet word, But being English myself and hearing about drunken abuse from young English towards a Thai women is disrespectful and way out of line.... i hope hope you read this and feel ashamed of your actions!!!
Review 31:its always been a favourite place to stay of ours.
Review 32:I really cannot think of a thing...it was exactly what we were looking for for 3 nights of doing not very much and just chilling out in stunning surroundings.
Review 33:I loved the rooms, we stayed in a double villa the least expensive ones...around £75 for the night and they were lovely, we like budget travel so this was a little treat but they felt very much worth the money and the breakfast buffet is good too really good selection and a view to die for. The pool area is fab, there is a private beach but the sand does not go into the water as it's raised so maybe not so great with young children. If you do stay be sure to be a little naughty and climb around the wall at the end of the private beach to the left and walk along the beach you will find a great little restaurant called the tree top bungalows I think, do amazing thai currys for 100bhat. The tapas around the pool is great too. They have a collection box for the samui dog and cat rescue in reception which I was so happy to see that they support. The gymnasium is very basic so I recommend a good swim in the lovely pool instead. You can't walk into town so hire a bike from reception or hop in a taxi. This is a great choice for a few nights out of the way relaxation and then maybe stay a few nights nearer to fisherman's village...just an idea.
Review 34:It was my partner and my anniversary when we stayed at Fairhouse Villasand this was a surprise for him as we were already in Thailand for awedding. I mentioned this to the Fairhouse staff and we were upgraded tothe Honeymoon Suite with an outdoor jacuzzi and fantastic room!!!Unfortunately, on check out, we had no Thai baht left and couldn'tleave a tip, but this place was absolutely fabulous!!! Wonderful, friendly staff. Luxury!
Review 35:The blanket was too thick, the pillows a bit too big and hard for our taste and the air conditioning was way too loud.
Review 36:The setting is just wonderful - loved the plants, flowers, and sea view. The bungalow was spacious and comfortable. Really enjoyed the pool area, it was small but cozy. It was great that we could rent motorbikes at the reception.
Review 37:Was in a quiet location - great for the day time, but for the evening you may need to travel- but they offer free transfers to chaweng
Review 38:Staff were great! Beautiful villas near the sea with a beautiful pool and lovely views
Review 39:Staff was rude. Mandatory Gala dinner on NYE costs $250 pp for the worst food ever NOT included drinks. Was seriously done with bad taste of entertainment and food quality was bellow sea level.
Review 40:Hotel is pretty high end.
Review 41:- quite some stones in the sea (be careful!) - the resort is a bit further away from points of interest, which, however, was not a problem for us as we had rented a car
Review 42:- staff was extremely friendly (always greeting, helping immediately, e.g. when we forgot our keycard in the room or needed a bottle opener) - room service was very good - resort incl. pool really beautiful - breakfast incl. service was good and diverse - beach looks nice, hardly any tourists around
Review 43:Bathrooms are rather uninteresting. No outdoor shower to rinse after swim in sea or dip in plunge pool. Off site parking is rather poor. Gym is pokey.
Review 44:Location is good. Beach villas are on the beach. Breakfast is good. Staff are very friendly. Organic veggies grown in hotels own garden. Generally good privacy through careful planning and layout of villas. Mature gardens.
Review 45:- Poor service at pool. Waiters only came past during happy hours - Housekeeping did not clear used glasses - The staff speak English poorly. We got a translation book and learned basic Thai phrases to make due - The resort is in a good condition, but needs some attention. For example the Gym and Bicycles dated and or not working. - Food in restaurant was very expensive. We would have spent a lot more money at the hotel if the food was cheaper instead we went out of our way not to eat and drink there due to the high prices - The quality of the dishes vary with some deserving a hefty price tag and most others not.
Review 46:- Beautiful resort - Rooms were great - Staff was generally friendly and helpful - Very nice pool / beach area - Ocean is nice and calm so swimming was awesome - The pricing of the Chaweng / Mae Nam shuttle was very reasonable
Review 47:Price for value is not great. For 200€/night, room equipment and furniture looked old. No daily dose of gel, soap etc in the bathroom. The place is quite far and any cab is 10/15€ by race. Last spa of the hotel is 3/4 times more expensive than any salon in town. Disappointing ...
Review 48:Staff is really welcoming.
Review 49:Food in the restaurant is very average. Not really a beach area at the hotel as other places have all over Koh Samui Not too much happening in the area, though for some this is a good thing (away from the seedy tourist spots)
Review 50:Nice pool area Clean sheets and bedding Free kayak use
Review 51:Staff speaks ZERO English - you can imagine how frustrating it is getting yourself understood. Also the wi-fi was useless in the rooms.
Review 52:Case to the water, very clean - staff kept it very clean and took great care of greenery. Food was also very fresh and authentic for those who would like a quick fix on the premises.
Review 53:It's a nice hotel, beautiful garden and pool and good breakfast but I think it's really stupid to spend so much in a country like Thailand and most of all, there is no beach!
Review 54:I had the sunset villa with jacuzzi: really beautiful view on the bay.
Review 55:The customer service was appalling
Review 56:Amazing property Receptionist had the biggest attitude problem. Our small request of day planning for excursions was absolutely shut down. She started getting irate and being utterly rude.
Review 57:Mostly little stuff but here it is...the restaurant food was okay (we only tried Thai food). The chefs were extremely helpful with food allergies and dietary needs. Housekeeping forgot to replace coffee and things in the room numerous times even after I told the front desk and one day they didn't come until 5 pm.There were sand bags all along the edge of the breaker wall, not really in the way just an eye sore. The sand is also very course and not good for playing in. Although they do have the shuttles, they fill up quickly and the hotel is far away from shops and restaurants, it will run you 300 baht for a taxi to Chaweng beach and town.
Review 58:The staff was helpful with things that were needed. They have a golf cart and will run you to the local mini mart if you need something. They also have a shuttle that runs to the bigger towns a few times a day. They were helpful setting up tours. The room was perfect for us with young children. The lighting is a bit poor but doable. Good happy hours!
Review 59:No big problem, just some minor inputs for improvement. Due to large property, we had to walk a lot for restaurant/breakfast area. The hotel was a around 250m inside from the main road, but it wasn't a problem since we had a car. The free kayak that they advertise was not good, both the kayak and the rowing blades were old and not in good shape.
Review 60:Good property, good staff, comfortable stay. You will not be disappointed.
Review 61:the background music at the bar and the restaurant was awfull.
Review 62:the place, the empty nearly private beach, the friendlyness of the staff.the green hidden bungalows. the wunderful restaurant with a stunning view
Review 63:It is a little bit far from shops, restaurants and bars. there is a free suttle service.
Review 64:Beautiful garden, nice beach, perfect service and exotic outdoors and indoors. The rooms are clean and quiet
Review 65:good hotel, friendly staffs, location was about 10-15minutes to chaweng on a scooter, beach was private but a little dirty, quiet place or we it was just low season. had a great overall stay, nothing really negative.
Review 66:Distance from main road.
Review 67:Huge beachfront private pool villa, fantastic cocktails at the pool bar, both pools (private and main) were really nice and clean, hotel restaurant was very good with fair prices.
Review 68:- View from our sunset suite was amazing - Great location - Great isolated beach with hardly any tourists - Friendly staff - Great sunset suite with jacuzzi - highly recommend this option over villas
Review 69:Background music in the pool area and meals area was stuck on the same song for a couple of days. Eventually got management to take it off repeat song.
Review 70:Fantastic sunset views. Swim up pool bar. Great food. Friendly staff
Review 71:It is quiet far away from the main part of the island and therefore its not always easy to get somewhere.
Review 72:This place is perfect to relax and get away from all the daily stress. It is quiet, clean, has very helpful personell and the Restaurants Location is unbeatable!!
Review 73:Poor drainage in our bathroom and slightly smelly, bathroom in second Villa fine.
Review 74:Helpful staff with great location by the beach and fantastic pool for children. A little way from Cheweng but plenty of scooters and local taxis on the main road which the staff will give you a lift to. Well laid out Villas affording privacy and 2 room villas for families. Great organic garden growing produce to supplement the
Review 75:It's located quite far from circle road, so it's difficult to get somewhere on your own. Hotel offers free shattle to Chaweng and back twice a day. Furniture is quite old. Hotel beach is not very suitable for swimming, especially for kids, but beach just hundred meters left is really nice.
Review 76:Staff was really friendly, I felt badly in the first morning, they prepared ginger tea, called for doctor and took care.
Review 77:When we arrived we had various gripes - lots of mosquitos in room (which was resolved - but why didn't they deal with this before our arrival), zero shelf storage in rooms despite lots of furniture, the threat of charges for beach towels (we were constantly counting our towels and the staff never seemed to collect them so we had piles of them around at times), key trouble (as we had 4 rooms we kept getting the unmarked keys mixed up and having to go to reception to get them fixed), having to request a DVD player (not enough to go round), bad WiFi connection in rooms (1 router between 2 rooms would be good!). I told indifferent staff of my comments (for the sake of improvement) and asked to speak to management but reaction was generally slack and management didn't contact me. We didn't get to know the staff during our 6 days where as the week before in another place we were friends with them all in the same time. Concierge is limited to their partner services. I think with small changes and more personable approach of staff this place could be much improved. For example the First comment in the information booklet is 'if you take anything we will call the police'. Bazaar.
Review 78:I liked the pool area, the beachside sunsets, the breakfast and restaurant generally and we did have a nice time. Rooms were nice enough but could be greatly improved with small thoughtful touches. We connected well with 1 member of staff (Nash). Despite being off the main road they will take you to the road in a golf buggy, where there is a general shop and other transport. You can walk along the beach to a couple of other places to eat. Beach is a bit gritty, water not so clear as Chaweng side of island and snorkelling from hotel bit perilous, but we did like the fact this beach isn't very developed. Fisherman's isn't far away and we loved visiting there!
Review 79:More variety in restaurants. .. More and increase in the shuttle services to the city
Review 80:I liked the place...not too many choices for restaurants...special mention for Mr Nash who was a student working at the hotel..He was extremely helpful and very professional. .
Review 81:The rooms could be more modern and the staff need to be better trained in communication
Review 82:It is a cosy resort. The pool is nice and the staff are very good.
Review 83:Beautiful scenery, excellent staff and a wonderful villa. We chose the sunset villa, which gave us a breathtaking view and a spa bath too! We will recommend to others.
Review 84:Nothing
Review 85:The resort is lovely, the Thai people are very friendly and accommodating, the staff at this resort take that to whole new level, they made are stay very special.
Review 86:Although we did enjoy our stay so much, I must say we were quite disappointed - it was out honeymoon ( I mentioned it to them 3 times before we arrived), and no one bothered to decorate, or leave flowers or something as simple, but still a nice gesture. I think it was a big mistake on their side - it doesn't cost almost anything, but makes our stay special. When I told them about it, they acted as if I never said anything, so that wasn't nice either.
Review 87:Location is amazing, nature also, the staff is so kind and friendly, food very tasty, rooms clean and very spacious. We couldn't swim in the sea because of the weather, so the big hotel pool was a good thing to have. I would definitely recommend and come again.
Review 88:Staff did not speak English, which made it difficult to communicate our needs. Gym facilities are run down. Investments in new bedroom furniture is needed. Cleanliness needs to be paid more attention
Review 89:Staff were always very friendly. The beach was nice and quiet. Although there was only one restaurant, the food was always nice and they would try to accommodate any special requests. It was great to have Internet all over the hotel, functioning almost always.
Review 90:We walked to the left of the Fairhouse for approximately two miles & experienced course sand & an uneven slope leading to the sea. After a trip to Chaweng Beach with it's far superior beach we're not sure that we'd come back to Mae Nam Beach. However, our stay at the Fairhouse made up for this small negative.
Review 91:Sweeping ocean views from our room on a hill, outdoor spa tub located on our large balcony, coffee scrub & Thai massage at the on-site spa, food & service at the open air restaurant, & the beautifully landscaped grounds.
Review 92:Traffic communication is hard, only few hotel shuttles schedules, or taxi is available. No other transitions. Other wise , the housekeeping is not so good, lots of muds in the bathtub
Review 93:Nice location n views
Review 94:The restaurant didn't offer many vegetarian options, but they did say that they could make basically anything upon request.
Review 95:Fair House is a beautiful resort surrounded by tropical gardens set right on the beach. The pool bar and beach front restaurant were outstanding. We splurged and got one of the suites overlooking the sea with an outdoor jacuzzi, which was amazing. They also offer free snorkeling equipment and kayaks, although the weather wasn't great when we were there so we weren't able to take advantage of them. Another great perk is the free shuttle to and from Chaweng (main tourist area of Koh Samui) for shopping, restaurants, bars, etc. The breakfast was outstanding as well!
Review 96:The food is average - both dinners and breakfasts: the international food (from our experience) came from freezer and did not taste good. The Thai food though was nice and seemed fresh. The hotel is not 4+ star but rather very good 3 star (3+), considering the service quality and ambience - the staff at the restaurant was inattentive during breakfast, one had to ask twice for everything, etc. However, it was lack of professionalism, the staff was otherwise very pleasant. The premises are a bit tacky for 4 star standard - there is fungus growing at the pool bathroom, the gym is almost not functional and the rooms are old, although clean. Also, the hotel would benefit from adopting simpler style when it comes to traditional decorations, as the various imitations of ancient statues and frescos at the reception and restaurant looked cheap. However, the hotel had very nice solid teak furniture and floors. Overall, I think that adopting simpler style and not pretending to be 4+ hotel, while working on details and service quality, would help. For example, the hotel should invest in rooms to prevent insect coming inside, as there are gaps under the doors and windows. Otherwise, the hotel is very pleasant and friendly, and still a good value for money.
Review 97:The location is truly beautiful, as well as the hotel garden, pool and beach area. If you cannot decide between Lamai, Chaweng or Mae nam, go for Mae nam, especially this part of Mae nam - the other island's beaches are mostly dirty with many tourists, water scooters and fast-food stalls, although the water may from time to time be nice. The staff (at the reception, not the restaurant) is helpful. When we complained about cockroaches in our room, we immediately got upgrade and apology, which was appreciated. Also, the staff (especially the experience manager) is very helpful to explain how to get to various places at the island. The pool is very nice and the garden is be
Review 98:Constructive criticism - the free shuttles are not at great times, and fill up quickly - they should run more frequently. also, the equipment in the gym could do with an update or some repairs - maybe one sit-up bike to replace one of the two lie-back bikes? And maybe a running machine or rowing machine to replace one of the two cross trainers? lastly, it would be great if the gym was open from 6am or 7am, and not 8am, so that you could got to the gym and not have to rush your breakfast afterwards. But those are really minor points. We would recommend anyone to go to the Fairhouse Villas.
Review 99:The room was very comfortable - we had 3 adults and 2 kids in two adjoining garden villa rooms. The pool, restaurant and beach were all within a minute's walk, which was great. The pool was great for young kids and adults - three different pools from kiddies depth to 1.5m, and able to play ball sports in all of them. Swim up bar was fun - particularly the happy hour between 12 and 1. The restaurant served a good range of food and wasn't too pricey, although it would be cheaper to eat more "locally". We liked the fact that you could borrow a bike to go to the Family Mart convenience store at the end of the road for bottled water, beers and essentials like nappies etc. or take a taxi to the Big C supermarket 10ins away for a much bigger range of food, household and other things. Even though it was June, the rain only impacted us twice during the whole week, and then only for an hour or so each time.
Review 100:The location is out of the way, on a small promontory between Bophut and Mae Ham. You get free rides to the main road but from there you're on the mercy of the songthaews and the taxis. Walking to Bophut is at least 30 min on either the beach or the not very pleasant road. But if you have a vehicle this is not a problem at all. Staff is polite but not very much interested. It was out of season but the place kind of felt past its heyday, it's just a little bit worn down but make no mistake - still lovely. Probably my biggest complaint is about the ridiculous laundry prices. If you're not careful to realize that ironing makes it double on what's already an exuberantly expensive service, you may end up surprised badly. Not least because none of my clothes had their stains removed at all.
Review 101:The hotel is really beautiful and green. The villas are a little bit tired but still in very good shape and lovely design. The sunsets are simply incredible! The pool/beach/restaurant area is charming and just walking around the place feels energizing. The beach itself is hardly special but we were there out of season so it's kind difficult to estimate. You can also walk out to some other hotels' beaches and it's about 20-30 min walk to either Bophut beach or Mae Nam beach. If you're after a secluded place where you just want to chill and not go out and go touristing, this is definitely a recommended place.
Review 102:The Bungalows Arme old and Need a Renovation
Review 103:Area is good, Stufe very friendly
Review 104:Lack of small shop selling simple amenities.
Review 105:Friendly,professional staff and scenic location.
Review 106:The restaurant and spa were so overpriced.
Review 107:The place and room were beautiful. The bath on the balcony was ideal and the staff were so friendly.
Review 108:Overpriced.
