Reviews for Lake Placid Summit Hotel

Review 1:I was under the impression that I was staying in the hotel not the motel. The room was very old with an unpleasant odor. The bedding had an odor as well. The beds were terrible, loud noises whenever we moved. There was no WiFi...although advertised "free WiFi". I was told that iphones were very secure and that is why we couldn't connect to the WiFi...??? Very disappointed.

Review 2:The older gentleman at the front desk was very pleasant

Review 3:I dont have anything bad to say.

Review 4:The staff was super friendly, room was very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. Most affordable place in the area.

Review 5:There was nothing I did not like!

Review 6:The people in the front lobby were AWESOME! It was our anniversary and they gave us an upgrade without us asking as well as drink coupons for the hotel bar. They were so kind, genuine and friendly, I will def. be back! They couldn't have made our stay any nicer! They also made recommendations for us for dinner which were excellent!

Review 7:The parking lot is tiny - there aren't enough spaces by far for the number of potential guests. The room was fine, but seemed overpriced considering it looked a little worn and the bathroom was the size of a small closet.

Review 8:Couldn't ask for better staff - they were super-friendly and relaxed. The bed was very comfortable.

Review 9:No safe in room only in front desk. We have to carry our passports and laptops all the time. This is a hassle. Gym has no tv nor music. Gym content is sparse. We have to ask for towels. View is facing the parking lot.

Review 10:Room is made by the time we get back to the hotel. There is always coffee n munchkins ready. Internet is very good.

Review 11:This hotel needs a major overhaul :( The decor is dated & leaves much to be desired. This could be a really fantastic place if they put some time & money into updating it! With that being said, we felt it was very clean, and had no other complaints.

Review 12:Location was excellent. Room sizes were good & beds were comfortable. Staff was attentive; called for extra blankets & they were at my door in 5 minutes

Review 13:1. Plumbing in sink roared when hot water was running. 2. They advertised free WiFi but it never worked the four days we were there. 3. Small bathroom

Review 14:The location and view were excellent.

Review 15:Furniture dated, carpeting in one room needed patching when they took out closet, pool paint peeling, one of our 2 rooms had the same picture over both beds!!!

Review 16:Liked the size of the rooms, bathroom shower heads were fancy and new. Coffee pot and microwave were convenient. Nice new Mexican restaurant attached to the hotel.

Review 17:The room was old and a bit dirty/dusty -- could have been cleaned better. When we asked about the shuttle service from the hotel to Whiteface, the staff could not tell us much bout it.

Review 18:The location was convenient -- it was easy to walk right to the main strip of stores and restaurants.

Review 19:There was a children's hockey championship in Lake Placid this weekend which we were not aware of until we got to the hotel and the majority of them stayed in this hotel due to what I can assume is the affordable price and the children were running around the hotel screaming at all hours of the day and night. This is hotel is more of a family hotel than a weekend getaway hotel for couples who seek the peace of Lake Placid. On the plus side, the Location was close enough for us to walk to all our favorite restaurants and bars

Review 20:Early checkin was at 1:30 which isn't early as far as I amconcerned. The gentleman at the desk was less than friendly anddecidedly unhelpful. Carpet in room needs to be replaced, beds made bothof us have back aches and the soap was made of sand - very rough. Forthe price of the suite $461 for the weekend I expected a little more.

Review 21:Location was good and the bar was nice. Bartender was friendly and thewings were good.

Review 22:The WIFI was unacceptable. Websites states that WIFI is available in all areas. There was very limited WIFI even in the front lobby.

Review 23:Clean, comfortable, friendly and nice pool.

Review 24:The only thing I would have liked would be tea (green tea) in our room, but hey I'm not complaining. We had coffee.

Review 25:We liked our room because it had a separate living space with another TV. We loved the location and could walk anywhere. We enjoyed chatting with Dean and we liked our server at the bar who was pleasant. The decorations at the hotel put us in the Christmas spirit.

Review 26:Not enough parking. Pool deck in poor repair. Our room needed repairs. Water stained ceiling in bathroom. Tub needed to be replaced as well as the bathroom door which had pieces of wood hanging off it.

Review 27:Closeness to downtown Lake Placid.

Review 28:We were there 3 nights and the hotel was over run with children who were allowed to run free up and down the halls, playing short stick hockey and banging on doors until 1 a.m. No supervision by parents or coaches (I believe they were with CanAm Hockey - which we've been with in Lake Placid before without problems) and no intervention from hotel staff. Also poor lighting in room - desk in corner had no lamp - and there was no lamp in room that you could move there (only 2 wall lamps - hard to reach from bed, and 1 ceiling light). Ask to be on lobby floor so that there might be more control of noise? Always lots of hockey and kids in Lake Placid but we never had an experience like this before so I chalk it up to the hotel. (No restaurant - set to open soon).

Review 29:Good location, large room, mini fridge and microwave.

Review 30:No restaurant - under construction which we knew prior to arrival. Rooms clean but a bit outdated for price per night.

Review 31:Staff was terrific. Very accommodating and helpful. Great location within walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc. Beautiful view.

Review 32:There were some kids running around like lunatics. Up and down the hall. I called the front desk around 8:30 (I was trying to get my kids to sleep). I was told they would try to get them quiet. But couldn't do anything until after nine. It was almost 10pm. And we were still listening to slamming doors and the stampede through the hall. I mostly blame the parents of these kids. But I was told after 9, they could stop them. And nothing was done.

Review 33:Bed was extremely comfortable!!!!! Pool was nice, but cold. Hot tub was great!

Review 34:wifi did not work anywhere other than a specific section of the lobby. I expected to be able to get work done in my room (on the other end of the building) but that did not happen. Very few electrical outlets in the room. The hallway and room have a strange scent.

Review 35:Hotel is well situated--it was a very nice short stroll down the hill right towards the lake where all the shops and restaurants are located. bathroom was clean. Having a microwave, fridge, and tiny coffee maker in the room is very convenient. Packages of mini donuts and coffee available in the lobby in the morning.

Review 36:The staff, especially Becky, was very accommodating when we arrived and discovered the double room we were expecting was actually a single room. Becky quickly changed the room and was very pleasant.

Review 37:A fantastic experience- had one of the best views in USA plus got an upgraded room w whirlpool tub which I really needed for no extra cost- really made my Thanksgiving visit extra special!!

Review 38:The place is tired and run-down with poor workmanship obvious in many places. The housekeeping was hit and miss and the bathroom was tiny.

Review 39:The beds were very comfortable. It is superbly located with an easy walk to shops and restaurants and a great view of Mirror Lake. Lots of on-site parking. The week day rate was very reasonable.

Review 40:The pool and hot tub are in terrible shape. We booked this hotel solely because they had a pool for the kids and it was a bit disappointing. Pool area needs a major renovation.

Review 41:Not a bad hotel. Rooms are clean and staff were friendly. Really liked the fact that they allowed pets although the $50 charge seemed a little high.

Review 42:the room and the furnishings were dated. The bathroom was so tiny 1 person could barely fit in it. the bathroom door was 24" and if you're a big guy, you could not possibly get in without some acrobatics! The room was not particularly clean; had crumbs on the floor, cobwebs in the windows, huge stains on the carpeting. The TV was small with bad volume control.

Review 43:the location was great with great views of the lake from our 3rd floor room.

Review 44:The room had just been cleaned and left behind a dirty towel and hair scunchy on floor in the bathroom

Review 45:I was acommodated when the room I was given was like a dungeon. Gave me a lake view room

Review 46:1 staff member at desk could use some work on friendliness. Restaraunt was under renovation without any notice when book Coffee and donuts was rather cheesy. Debbie's donuts. Really?

Review 47:The view of the lake was spectacular. Must have view of lake or price not worth it. The cleanliness was great. Most of the staff was very pleasant

Review 48:The hotel seemed dingy and outdated. The room was not clean, ceiling tiles had yellow and brown stains, carpet had stains, walls had water damage evidence. The bathroom had outdated and broken fixtures, not to mention the fact that it was extremely tiny. The curtains had stains and there were moths and insects in the room. When I called the front desk, they just offered to call cleaners to change the ceiling tile in the bathroom that was falling down.

Review 49:Close proximity to shopping and dinning area.

Review 50:The room was very dirty.. needs to be cleaned and updated. Not a 3 star

Review 51:The best part was the parking. Great location, close to the Dancing Bear and the main street.

Review 52:The bathroom had dirty towels still hanging in if and looked like it had not been cleaned at all. Our room and the rest of the hotel looked run down and could definitely use a good cleaning. The indoor pool was disgusting it not only looked as if it had not been maintained of up kept in the last decade but also looked as though it hadn't been cleaned in that long. The water itself was clear but the rest was gross.

Review 53:The hotel was located in a phenomenal place. It was easy to get to all the attractions by walking. Also had great views from our room.

Review 54:The facility was sort of old, but it was clean enough to stay!

Review 55:When we checked in, we requested to change the room to the ones with lake view. Robin was very helpful and changed it without any additional cost!

Review 56:Pool was old, hot tub broken. The Windows were old and frosted over. No vent in the bathroom. Lead chords were used as permanent wiring.

Review 57:Walking distance to stores and diners, friendly check in.

Review 58:The bathroom was very small and not as clean as the condition of the rest of the hotel would have led you to expect.

Review 59:An easy walk to shops and dining. The staff was pleasant at check in and informative about nearby amenities

Review 60:The pool and hot tub weren't working properly. My husband had to throw his bathing suit away because it got stained from the pool! I was very disappointed with this facility

Review 61:Building needs upgrades. Room was never serviced and had to be moved to a different room. For our incinvenience we got 2 danish and an excuse. Staff are friendly but we will not likely fo again. We could have had better room and attention at a budget hotel. Expected more from an establishment on Mirror Lake Lake Placd.

Review 62:The room was out-dated, and not kept up... no pictures on wall, TV simply on 'desk' and hard to see from bed, some paint/paper peeling off wall, towels were old, thin, and scratchy... my room was in the 'old' section, which really needs to be renovated. BUT, the bed was comfortable, bathroom and shower were very clean, the staff was friendly, and the hotel is in a good location.

Review 63:Staff very friendly.

Review 64:Had a hard time finding a parking spot in the hotel parking lot on the weekend. No outlets near bedside stand. Had to plug phone in across the room.

Review 65:Location was great. Had a wonderful 3rd floor view overlooking Mirror Lake.

Review 66:we had a broken blow dryer, even came out of wall , broken closet sliding doors that pinched our fingers, carpet pieces on floor from left over carpet that was put in, and after someone came in to clean still there, dirt in toliet paper holder and after someone came in still there, just wiped the counter and put out new shampoo and made bed, and acted like they cleaned, oh left some coffee. got in 6 hours late because had an accident on way from ohio to new york and was at hospital, did not compensate for that, complained on friday, the clerk said he would put in our file so they would know when we checked out , supposedly never did, we were gone all day sat. so when we checked out sunday the rude clerk said, well nothing in here, you were here for 3 days and didnt complain ill have to talk to the other clerk and check your room and see what mgt. says or wants to do and they will call you, havent heard nothing yet. just rude, and not worth the money!!! will never recommend a stay, and will never stay again.

Review 67:we checked in late and they had us on 2nd floor i requested 1st floor, and clerk gave it to me

Review 68:N/A

Review 69:Wonderful experience from the moment we approached the Front Desk to the time we checked out. The lovely lady at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating. The room was very clean and the entire staff was very pleasant. Excellent value!

Review 70:I would not have enjoyed my stay there if I was to spend time in the room during the day. Our room's window faced a concrete wall so little natural light came in. The non-smoking room had a lingering smell of cigarette smoke that appeared to not have been eliminated after being cleaned. Being some what underground, there was a dank feel in the room, despite the use of the A/C. Our room per reservation wasn't ready (cleaned) when we arrived so the room we received was given to us as a substitute. Breakfast was coffee and a packaged donut-ok but not what I expected.

Review 71:Location, price of room were okay for what we received for the area since we were just spending the night and leaving in the AM to our vacation destination in Canada.

Review 72:1. No toilet paper in the bathroom; had to find house keeping to get a roll. 2. Floor around the pool area was chipping and cracking. 3. Overall hotel could use a freshening up.

Review 73:Location is good

Review 74:The facilities looked tired, hallways and bathrooms specifically, Having a look at the outside main street garden would show better, weeds and golden rod showed no one cared.

Review 75:The location to down town was great, a real plus to walking around and not having to use a car. Great views of the lake!

Review 76:Bed, awful. I now have a bad back ache. Hot tub doesn't work. Bad water pressure. Tiny toilet. Bad parking. Everything falling apart. Advertising restaurant. Is none.pictures very deceiving.

Review 77:Lake view,location

Review 78:We were very unimpressed with this hotel. It looked as if it had notbeen vacuumed in months, the rooms were dirty and dusty and we weregiven stained towels I could have mistaken for rags. The promised freewifi was non-existent (we had a better connection with the hotel acrossthe road) and the pool (pictured so nicely on their website) was in verypoor condition (Peeling wall paper and dirty water). We ended up leaving6:00 am after the first night. We were suppose to be there for threemore nights but we couldn't do it. Luckily they gave us a refund forthe other nights but it was not worth the drive there. For those of youconsidering this location: don't bother, it is not worth the cost atall. I wish I had read the reviews before I booked this place... Willnever make that mistake again.

Review 79:Wi-fi very inconstant.

Review 80:Kind woman at the front desk. Clean and comfy room. Convenient location, wlaking distance to the market street. Would recommend.

Review 81:The entire hotel needs a makeover...it is just plain tired and worn out...stains everywhere and broken furniture...there is NO restaurant in it...they make do with coffee in the lobby...BUT, the location is excellent and you can walk all over town and go to all the restaurants there.

Review 82:The location was excellent...

Review 83:Facilities badly need updating. Pool area, especially hot tub, seemed to be poorly maintained.

Review 84:Superb view from upper floor lakeside room, but at extra cost!

Review 85:The decor was a little dated- loveseat, chair and rug. Bath was a little dated, but very very spacious.

Review 86:Location of the hotel was great- centrally located in the heart of Lake Placid. The price was excellent for the room but I stayed mid-week. The room size was amazing- bedroom, sitting room and bathroom..Loved the refrigerator in the room.

Review 87:Garbage on floor, 1/2 roll tp, dusty, no pictures on wall, maintenance workers pounding at 8 am, clogged toilet, front desk at check out did not ask me how my stay was.

Review 88:The location and we upgraded for a lake view.

Review 89:This location appears to be going under to the visitor. The restaurant downstairs is closed and for sale, the free breakfast was a coffee and tiny pastry wrapped in plastic like you would buy at a gas station actually gas station may have bee better! Elevator rating and inspection plate was removed and if you saw the elevator you would know why. Our room still had not been cleaned as of 5:30 pm. Walking to hotel from town requires a steep uphill climb, very steep!

Review 90:View from room was very nice but otherwise, very little at all. Perhaps 50% off second night was only saving factor.

Review 91:windows would not open to get air flow, the air conditioner was very loud.. no fan in the bathroom..Room wasn't ready when we arrived at 3:45 pm

Review 92:nice view of the lake

Review 93:Both days i was out of room from 7am until after 3pm and when I got back the room still was not clean. Housekeeping did not show up until around 4:30pm. Parking fills up fast and had to park in the back of hotel and walk all the around building to go inside.

Review 94:Loved the location, nice comfortable room.

Review 95:Couldn't get to pool area for some reason. Key didn't work. But we didn't really care.

Review 96:Location, friendly service. Close to Mirror lake and Main St.

Review 97:There was no breakfast, the wifi didn't work on my side of the hotel, I request two queen size beds and had two full size beds, the pool needs some updating and the jets in the hot tub didn't work. Also, I feel the staff could have been nicer.

Review 98:The location was great !

Review 99:Corridor carpets filthy, elevators filthy, furniture broken. Went to lobby at 830 for coffee and bagel, coffee was empty and no food. Staffing was dressed in street clothes and shorts rather than uniform.

Review 100:We arrive late in the evening. We stepped in the elevator and someone had spilled beer and it smelled like it had been there most of the evening. The next morning the elevator still smell of stale beer and obviously hadn't been cleaned. In August, nights become cool early in the season. Room was slightly cool so after turning the heat on an awful dirty burning smell was blowing in the room so we shut the heat off. Upon closer inspection it was clear the unit hadn't been cleaned in what looked like years.

Review 101:Bathroom door had missing latch plate. Hot water faucet made loud vibrating sound when used. Air conditioner had a lot of dust in vent which also were broken. The shower curtain was moldy.

Review 102:Great location.

Review 103:The bathrooms are really small. Not horrible, just understand it fits one person. Parking is a real problem. We ended parking in the back both nights--looked like the workers entrance, through the hotel's laundry area.

Review 104:It served my purposes. It is right near downtown. Easy access to almost anywhere you want to go. It is pretty clean. Staff is pleasant.

Review 105:Came back to the hotel at night to not one open parking space . Had to park on a side street 2 blocks away and walk to the hotel.

Review 106:Located very close to the main st shops and restaurants

Review 107:Totally dysfunctional closet doors. needed a coffee table

Review 108:Loved the size and layout of room 2007.fridge & microwave great quality. beds comfortable.

Review 109:the indoor pool cold, restrant closed outof business ,could't check until after 3:00pm ,hot tub did not jet coffee maker sucked and the freg was small website showed restrant open with room service had to go some place else for coffee and food we do not drink instance coffee

Review 110:room was clean and housekeeping was great

Review 111:The hotel did not look like it did on the web site. Needs updates. There was no restaurant. The room was extremely small. There was so much noise we did not get to sleep until 5 am both nights we were there. We left a day early.

Review 112:It was close to the main drag of the village.

Review 113:The pillows were hard as a rock, the towels were as thin as tissue, the iron didn't work, and there were gross stains on the "blanket" they lay at the foot of the bed. Barely any drawer space for 2, the unit door had to be slammed to lock it, the door knob to the adjoining room was falling apart, nails on the walls with no pictures on them, the TV picture was grainy, and the WiFi barely worked.

Review 114:The location was very convenient to the lake and the shops on Main Street. And they changed our room when we complained about a hole in the window screen in the first room we had. New room had nice view of the lake.

Review 115:The bed was terrible with dirty sheets and blood stains. The room was grossly dirty and the bed was full of bugs. We were bitten all night only to have to leave early and seek a doctors opinion for bedbug bites.

Review 116:The location was in a good spot.

Review 117:Some structural things need repaired and you have to take the stairs to your room. It could be difficult for some. I thought it was a nice workout.

Review 118:Super friendly staff Jull, the owner was very accommodating and friendly. I would stay there entry time I go to lake placid. I loved the deck and the overall family environment. It has a bed and breakfast feel to it. No breakfast but the coffee was a good quality and perfect. It has lots of charm.

Review 119:Not very clean, no security - all outside doors were fully unlocked and no one needed a room key to access. Parking was horrible - had to park brand new vehicle down a dead end alley.

Review 120:Close to restaurants and shops.

Review 121:This property is very run down. There are holes and cracks in walls, cracks in sink. The furniture is old and tired and carpet looks like it has not been replaced in 10 years or longer. The room smelled musty. We will not stay here again. Wifi never worked.

Review 122:Location was great.

Review 123:We always stay at this hotel and the pool is normally very clean and open. This time we had not warning that for our entire stay (4 days) that the pool would be closed to be cleaned. We based almost put entire stay based on them having a pool.

Review 124:Very accommodating and friendly staff.

Review 125:It is walking distance to everything in town. The room was perfect! The view of Mirror lake from the room was amazing, overall it was a great stay, and the staff were very accommodating! Thank you!

Review 126:Bathroom could use an upgrade

Review 127:A good choice I think, but I'm not overly picky. First time I've ever gotten a room with a view :). Staff was excellent.

Review 128:Bikers downstairs partying all night and a staff that would not address the issue, refrigerator with loud failing compressor, shower curtain generously dotted with mold, uncomfortable furniture, traffic noise, hot and stuffy room.

Review 129:Not much

Review 130:The rooms were very large. Tiny old bathroom. The lobby is welcoming but your rooms are extremely dated. For main street location walking distance to all attractions price was great.

Review 131:At about 8:45am, housekeeping, who didn't knock, decided to just barge right in the room. Luckily, we had the lock on the door. Then at about 9:30, they started construction of some sort of wiring right outside our room... Needless to say you couldn't sleep in.

Review 132:Was really quick and easy booking, and finding the room.

Review 133:The bathroom was way small and way outdated the light needed to be cleaned had bugs in it,also the drop ceiling panels were stained

Review 134:The bed was comfortable, and the air condictioner was very good!

Review 135:The rooms and the carpets need to be cleaned a bit I felt my room had a bit of smell which I wasn't able to identify.

Review 136:Excellent and helpful staff. They were really helpful and very warm and welcoming

Review 137:Beds were so uncomfortable. Location of room too far from outside as husband smoker and had to walk quite a distance.

Review 138:shower/bath very clean! location from lake/main st

Review 139:The bathroom is very small. The toilet is right next to the tub, but I think that's how the older hotels were designed.

Review 140:I loved the location and also thought the price of the hotel was very reasonable. It is an older hotel, but for the value there's really nothing I can complain about. I know other hotels in the area have much higher rates. I was looking to save money, and I'd definitely stay there again!

Review 141:BED WAS AWFUL! So hard and springy that it kept me awake all night, everytime I turned over I woke up. I stayed here before in a different room and I dont remember the bed being this hard!

Review 142:Staff was exceptional, needed menu to local Pizza places and supplies to eat in our room and they where accomadating to our needs and very helpful!
