Reviews for Acajou Beach Resort

Review 1:Only minor issue was with mosquitos – the garden probably doesn’t help. They didn’t bite my husband but apparently my blood is delicious, even wearing repellent… Nothing too serious in any case, considering we were in the middle of the rainforest!

Review 2:We absolutely loved this hotel, and after 2 weeks exploring Praslin we left convinced that we had chosen the best accommodation in the island.Firstly, even though all the beaches in Praslin are magical and each has its own charm, the location of the hotel in Côte d'Or was ideal for us. The beach is not too shallow and (except one day) there was very little seaweed, which made swimming really nice. Most of the beaches we visited in the southern part of Praslin were too shallow and too full of seaweed at this time of the year to enjoy swimming (although they were also utterly beautiful and well worth a visit). Additionally, the length of Côte d’Or allowed us for lovely strolls, something we really valued given how difficult it was for us to walk on the island other than on the beach – there are no sidewalks or paths to cross the rainforest, only narrow zigzag roads where invading the space for cars felt quite dangerous, especially at night in the dark (don’t forget to bring a lantern). And Anse Volbert, the prettiest village in Praslin to us, is 10 minutes away, with 4-5 restaurants, 4-5 souvenir shops, 3 small supermarkets, a bank, ATMs… Being close to a town with facilities and where the Seychellois actually live was a big plus for us, we find that more interesting than spending all our trip in a huge resort. But the best of Acajou is not the location but the hotel itself. It consists of a few charming mahogany cabins in a wonderful, carefully maintained garden, perfectly integrated into the lush rainforest, even so that some endemic birds we were hoping to see in Seychelles seemed to live there. There is a not very big but remarkably beautiful, impeccably clean swimming pool. We stayed in a Superior Room, which was one of the upper deck mahogany cabins – it was very clean and spacious, tastefully decorated, with a fantastic shower with rain style shower head, and air conditioning which is a must in Seychelles.

Review 3:No shuttle service available from resort to jetty or places of interest So one has to use Taxi (which could be organized by Hotel, therefore a minor issue). Rooms are clairaudient.

Review 4:We enjoyed the nice location at Cote d'Or within walking distance of restaurants and Octopus diving centre. Breakfast was very good, Free Wifi also available in room. The pool was very nice, with a view on the sea and with lunch bar. Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 5:This is Way too expensive for what you get. Location is good but the hotel seems very dated, they should visit domaine orangerie at la dique or chateau de feuilles at Praslin to get ideas of how to update the decor. There was an infestation of bugs while we were there, and they were everywhere - on the floors, bathroom, beds and restaurant. Gym is a joke. Sheryl at reception was very serviceminded and helpful but others were not, one girl did not smile once while we were there, and small requests were met with an attitude. If we were to come back to Praslin again we would not return to this hotel. Chateau de feuilles was fantastic, we had dinner there one night and was blown away by the food, service and beauty. They only have 9 rooms and include a car In the rate- it is expensive but we would much rather have paid the difference than spending time on Acajou.

Review 6:Beach is beautiful.

Review 7:In the wooden rooms walls were so thin that one could easily hear normal conversation from the other side. Internet was unstable. If you do not have dinner included in your stay, you may be refused to dine in the hotel restaurant without being informed about that (i.e. creole night). The closest restaurant is about 15 min walk, but on the road without side walk and no street lights and therefore we recommend to book a room with dinner included.

Review 8:Location, beach, swimming pool, staff, breakfast, sour sop, bananas. Some dishes in restaurant were very good.

Review 9:The breakfast buffet should have more options and they should include more freshly cooked food rather than canned and processed food. Sometimes, we couldn't get wifi inside the room. Dinner buffet is very pricey and it is advisable to eat from restaurants outside the resort.

Review 10:Hearing that we came for our Honeymoon, the hotel management upgraded us to a private Oceanfront Cottage / Villa free of cost. The Indian Ocean was right infront of our villa and we could always hear and see the roar of the waves from our room. The resort is a 10 minutes walk from the supermarket, bank, money changer and restaurants and are easily accessible by walking. Swimming pool was right next to our villa. The fish curry made with creole sauce offered at the pool side restaurant was excellent. Should definitely try for sure. The staffs were very friendly and welcoming and always attended to our needs (even helped us charge our cell phone since we forgot bring our phone charger with us). Free wifi inside the resort. Our room was always cleaned properly and everyday had fresh toiletries.

Review 11:Everything was perfect!

Review 12:Fantastic location, beach is 2 steps away and it's absolutely beautiful. The staff is amazing and very helpful, can help with anything from renting a car, to day trips and even hot tea/medicine for a cold. Food is really good and quite varied. The garden is very pretty, the infinity pool is perfect. The hotel is also a 5-10 minute walk from the neighboring village, perfect for souvenir shopping.

Review 13:Queen size bed Outdated rooms Expensive dinners (450 rupees per person).

Review 14:Very good breakfast. Nice beach. Friendly staff. Good Internet (not common in Seychelles).

Review 15:no sound isolation im rooms, you hear everything from outside and from neighbor rooms. The air-conditioning are strangely programmed with sounds going on and off in the night. The stuff are unfriendly or indifferent. The restaurant - can be OK from quality, but very small portions, especially at "Buffet d#Hotes" (a ''Cheesecake' was 1,5 cm thick, and the piece was 2*3 cm big, you almost don't see it on the plate, we were impressed

Review 16:The beach is very nice. The nearest village is in 10 min on foot. A very good pool. At breakfast buffet fruits are very fresh. The hotel territory is not very big but nicely arranged, enough free parking places

Review 17:At breakfasttime there were a few birds trying to get a bite to eat with us. Got to see them close up so we enjoyed it, but maybe not very hygenic?

Review 18:We had planned to have Acajou as a base for exploring the island, but liked it so much we ended up just relaxing on the resort and walking the beach. Great experience!

Review 19:One of the reception girl is so phony I can bearly look at her . Thin wall , you can hear everything from rooms above you and next to you. Wifi is slow. Breakfast buffet is a joke. The room decor looks like home of people who have bad taste. 4 star ?? I highly doubt it.

Review 20:It is close to Côte d'Or.

Review 21:A walk to the 'town' Cote d'Or for diner or shopping, will take you 10 minutes (road) or 15 minutes (beach). For us, this wasn't a problem, but maybe for other (older) people, a location more 'downtown' Cote d'Or is more suitable.

Review 22:Beautiful hotel/resort, right on one of the most 'Bounty island' beaches I've seen in my life! Friendly staff! Great 'mini' Spa, with a lovely Filipino lady and nice massages! The swimming pool has a great view on the ocean! Very unique!

Review 23:Sometimes some of the staff seemed disinterested. The service was never bad but for the price we were paying it wasn't stellar either.

Review 24:Fabulous location on a postcard perfect beach, very clean, great dinner menu and food.

Review 25:The only thing we dont like is the manager on duty. She is not approachoable and hospitable. She didn't come to ask how was our stay or even how we were doing.

Review 26:We like the infinity pool and everything about the room. The interior, bed, sheets, towels and even the balcony. The food is excellent and the hospitality of the service staff are superb. Location is only 15-minute drive from Jetty port.

Review 27:Very professional and attentive staff. Restaurant consistantly produced delicious food far ahead of expectations and not more expensive than independant eateries. Ideal beach for walking or swimming

Review 28:Nothing.

Review 29:Very nice room, nicely renovated, brand new bathroom, enough clean towels every day. Everything as it should be. Staff is cleaning and maintaining resort all the time, very polite and helpful. Food is excellent!

Review 30:TV with blurry picture which was not fixed despite numerous reminders. Smaller maintenance issues that should have been fixed before rooms are released to guests (at least at this hotel level)

Review 31:Rooms are spacious, clean and well organized. The wifi is profecionally organized which you do not se many other places in Seychelles. Staff and organization is new but generally very helpful. Breakfast is good.

Review 32:Only negative thing is the price of beer which costs around 90 SCR after VAT, which is way too much. However, you can always buy your beers in a nearby shop and drink them on your balcony to the sound of the waves. Very nice!

Review 33:Beautiful place just by the beach. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Excellent food in the restaurant. Walking distance to other restaurants. Bike rental if you want to explore Praslin. Fast and free wifi.

Review 34:Good value for the money. Rooms are cosy and clean. Beach is lovely and quiet. Best hotel of our Seychelles island hopping. I would totally recommend it.

Review 35:The shower where to swhower off sand ect. was placed in a inappropriate location for the pool. Check out time at 10.00 is too early!

Review 36:Very friendly and observant staff! Very clean in the room!!

Review 37:The overall facilities and room is average at best. Not very good value for money

Review 38:The location of the hotel is the best part.

Review 39:Super friendly Staff, super Hotel, nice beach

Review 40:Beds are not comfortable Rooms are outdated Somewhat expensive

Review 41:Friendly staff Good location Nice pool Great shower!

Review 42:the pool building wasn't very beautiful

Review 43:nice and spacious room good extra bed

Review 44:Wifi is hopeless, food is very average with no alternative option

Review 45:Good location, empty beach, not so many tourists

Review 46:Dinner at the restaurant was very good. Also, they made a shower room available when we came back from the sea after we have already checked out.

Review 47:All good

Review 48:Staff in breakfast Sea access Rooms Location and facilities

Review 49:The swimming pool, location, and the food was terrible quality and expensive

Review 50:The room but only the recently renovated

Review 51:The gym was not good, now rod, now weights and a very old and a bad treadmill
