Reviews for Hamilton Parks Country Lodge

Review 1:wonderful for relaxing in an awsome park deep in a bush valley; thank God no TV and internet!; close to the stunning highlands (Lydenburg etc) and the Kruger; personable staff and management

Review 2:1. Standmounted fan was a bit past its best! 2. A small annoyance is that the lights from car park area shine too much into the bathroom/adjacent sleeping area.

Review 3:1. I actually liked the longish bumpy scenic track from the tarred road to the venue - reminds you to get into a holiday mindset. 2. Owner/Staff were friendly and accessible - but not in your face. A good balance. 3. I often find that beds are too short - but these were just OK. 4. A very tasty breakfast. 5. A lovely view - once the clouds cleared! We were lucky enough to have some nice rain whilst there.

Review 4:The place needs a major facelift. The buildings are old, the bathrooms look dirty and old. The bedrooms look like an old storage with a bed and a mirror. Our rooms where never cleaned the entire time we were there (though we were out of the room all day). The setup was just weird and the staff does not make it any easier. You go to the bush cause you want some alone time and not have people asking you what did you do and what you are planning to do for the day, were you from! Endless questions that have nothing to do with life.

Review 5:I liked the bush experience

Review 6:It rained on the day of our visit, the area in front of our room was full of water making it difficult to walk in and out. My wife doesn't like dogs, there was a small dog which followed us as we walked around the garden and she was irritated.

Review 7:Very friendly staff members who showed a lot of care to visitors

Review 8:Am a realistic and positive traveler ,for the price I pay I can'tasked for a better stay away from home...remember this is South Africa...Never compare the Western hotels to this amazing lodge where you aretreated like family. ..

Review 9:Very secluded to find serenity. ...No wifi so u can connect withnatures and people. ...Excellent staff and owners who are hands ontaking care of guest...great gourmet meals by the chef and friendly barstaff Billy. ..

Review 10:I did not like the view from our room. They are in a beautiful country setting and the view is obscured by small trees and shrubbery that should be removed. But otherwise it was amazing.

Review 11:We stayed at the lodge for two nights. We had a lovely room. The staff is great and very friendly. The food is amazing.

Review 12:It's convenient to eat in the hotel. Diner there is good, but a bit monotonous. No Wi-Fi connection anywhere.

Review 13:Super friendly staff, beautiful garden and nice bar

Review 14:Bed seems little bit old, there is no comfort as one may expect

Review 15:The quiteness of the area,it's really ideal for relaxing. The staff also friendly and accommodating.

Review 16:All staff taking good care of you as a guest, especially Kurt and Karl. Great breakfast, made to order.Characteristic building with authentic atmosphere and large garden. Good spot for daytrips to Kruger Park, Panorama Route and other trips.

Review 17:Hamiltons location, it was too far out of Hazyview. The driveway was steep and too long. The lodge was down in a valley and too far from the main road. not a convenient location

Review 18:The owners and staff were very friendly. The food was good. We were given breakfast packs for our early day trips to Kruger Park. The gardens and surroundings were pleasant. Our double bedroom was very nice with a fireplace.

Review 19:The place where it is situated. The owner of the place is so welcoming and warmly towards guest The bedrooms are comfortable to be in The stuff cater to your needs

Review 20:Our stay was too short :((

Review 21:The service was excellent, we were welcomed as part of the family - friendly and so accommodating to our needs. Thank you to Kurt and staff - the food was awesome including the packed breakfasts at 2.30am!! Thanks Nola for the entertainment!!

Review 22:The pool was green, so I didn't feel like swimming in it.

Review 23:In the middle of nature:the silence, just birds, monkeys, and other animals. like in heaven. And the food was delicious. Even the glutenfree food.

Review 24:The room was very hot and unfortunately the air conditioner didn't work. We also expected a refrigerator in our room but there wasn't one.

Review 25:The staff were friendly and we were offered dinner which was very convenient for us. The food was good with generous servings.

Review 26:Very friendly and competent owners, very helpful, they organised a terrific fully-day safari drive through the KNP, very well kept and maintained property and excellent rooms, excellent Food and great value for the Money. You Need to be Aware of the fact that the lodge is a bit away from civilisation - which I thought was excellent

Review 27:The road down to the lodge was like leaving the real live. The silence was overwhelming nice. The staff was helpfull, the breakfast and the fresh bread was like something out of heaven. The Bain's was good and the barman's story's entertaining. Thanks Rooie

Review 28:The plastic chairs on the stoep not condusive for sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful views, one cannot sit comfortable

Review 29:Dinner on the evening we arrived, attentiveness of the owners

Review 30:Shower head in room not working properly but that was my only complaint.

Review 31:The friendliness, relaxed atmosphere, amazing location, peace and quiet, great food cooked by owner, cosy bar; and ponies wandering around the garden !

Review 32:Our second stay. Ideally located if on the way to the Kruger National Park. Nice rooms, perfect and super friendly hosts, excellent food. Atmosphere very cosy and we like the bar where the hosts talk to the guests after dinner and have plenty of suggestions and recommendations ready for tourists. Keep up the good work, we'll be back!

Review 33:Food, home made food. The quietness, the tranquil of the place. Me and my husband we felt like its our (lost count) honeymoon. As pensioners we will definitely go again for a peace of mind.

Review 34:We were told on numerous occasions that we were"lucky" as South Africans to get a booking as they generally only cater for foreigners!

Review 35:The view and gardens. Rooms very spacious.

Review 36:moist-like smell in the room Entrance to the property a bit scary at night and long

Review 37:The place is situated in a mountainous area which makes you feel in touch with nature The food was great Friendly staff Spacious neat rooms

Review 38:The 2km road on narrow road to go the lodge

Review 39:The owner was so great, he gave me some much advice on activities & restaurant & tips for the city. It was a great stay. Omg the breakfast was so big and good!!! Location is ok only the road to go to the lodge is a bit difficult very narrow sometimes for 2 cars !

Review 40:Dinner in the 'restaurant' was simply by very delicious! Nothing fancy but nice home cooked meal. Hotel helpfully arranged a trip to the Elephant Sanctuary for us while we were driving around the Kruger with little to no reception.

Review 41:Kurt and staff were wonderful. I was traveling alone and they made my stay something that I will always remember. Kurt arranged for a guide to take me to the places that I wanted to see. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful. Food was great.

Review 42:The lock on the room was inoperable and we were told the locks are a constant pain for the staff as they won't stay fixed. Perhaps new locks?

Review 43:We loved the setting, the staff, the animals, the meals, the other guests, the large room with everything we needed, the trails, the tranquility, and the history of the lodge.

Review 44:I loved everything about this place- from its setting & surrounds, comfort & cleanliness, helpful & friendly staff, quality breakfast &dinner, cosy bar and with Karl & Kurt two excellent and informative hosts

Review 45:N/A.

Review 46:We had a fantastic stay at Hamilton Lodge! The Lodge is set on a beautiful bit of land with a long private driveway off the main road (2km). This means that it is conveniently close and easy to access the main road and the nearby Kruger Park while being secluded enough to enjoy a special stay. The Lodge has a great colonial look and feel in terms of furnishings and buildings and gardens with no pretentiousness or stuffiness. Great work from Kurt makes the cocktails and meals a very sociable and enjoy able experience!

Review 47:Basin in a corner and a bit clumsy, but not a big deal

Review 48:Owners are very friendly, helpful and generous. Big room and big bathroom, shower and bath. Nice and quiet.

Review 49:We were only able to stay for one night. This is by far the most beautiful lodge we stayed in.The cottages are beautiful. The rooms are huge and comfortable. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent!

Review 50:Nothing, it was just a pleasant experience

Review 51:Friendly welcome Spacious and clean Working fireplace with dry wood Good food Value for money No TV in the room, fantastic

Review 52:Wish we could have stayed longer Access road is a bit long and difficult. However, also through nice nature.

Review 53:Great hospitality, owners really want to give you a perfect stay. You get lots of information. Very romantic houses, we even had a fireplace and free wood in our room. Is located in the middle of nature, quiet and peaceful. Very well prepared and fresh food. At both dinner and breakfast you really get value for money. Krugerpark relatively nearby (30 minutes' drive).
