Reviews for Hotel Le Duc de Praslin
Review 1:Everything! Works of art all over the places! Great staff, all of them from the Seychelles. Very spacious rooms with balcony. Proximity of the beach and stores if needed. Great food at the restaurant and at the cafe des arts Owner and wife very nice and easy to approach
Review 2:- mosquitos and lizard, hotel need to use anti-mosquitos products inside the rom and the hotel as well especially in the plants area.
Review 3:-the friendly staff. - amazing food and service -great beach and nice propriety as well. New tabac night club
Review 4:Female staff rude and never smile. When we booked they said that we have breakfast buffet and dinner. We had set menu dinner and breakfast they brought a plate of fruits on the table ! When we asked for hot things they offered only eggs. They are renovating therefore beach bar and restaurant closed. Too expensive. It's a 3 star hotel not 4!!
Review 5:Superior room is big and nice.
Review 6:The staff were attentive, but some of them seemed very frustrated, so at times it felt like I was bothering them, but overall it was still great.
Review 7:The location was great as were the amenities. The rooms were large and very nice. It was clean and easy to find. The associated Cafe d'Arts restaurants was fantastic. Near the beach and near many activities. The AC in my room didn't work when I was there, but they offered to switch me immediately, which was great.
Review 8:The need to reserve everything in advance didn't work for us because the day we set for snorkeling ended up rainy. Daily signups in the morning by 9 am would be more vacation friendly.
Review 9:The facilities were amazing. Beautiful location, pool, restaurant, room
Review 10:Complaining on a very high level ;-): bathrooms should be modernised to match the immaculately designed main room (positive: shower pressure was fantastic and bathroom size above average), air condition was a bit loud although no problem as we never had it running during the night anyway
Review 11:Family atmosphere, very nice staff, small hotel, hotel layout and garden, fantastic size family room, location (right at the end of Anse Volbert), great food,
Review 12:The road leading to the hotel, not on par with the establishment's high standard, although understandable that this (the road) is not necessarily the hotel's responsibility. Our villa was close to the secondary road and wall, though relatively high, did not give full privacy on one side.
Review 13:The villa, with the pool was exceptional. The rooms were very spacious, clean and well designed. The main pool, gardens and general décor was impressive.
Review 14:Outstanding hotel. I'm not usually impressed by luxury in hotels but the attention to detail in this one is exceptional. Very recommended for couples and solo travelers who what to relax and escape from the real world
Review 15:We was stay in the villa , but they didnt say that the villa was up to the hill, separated from the hotel vicinity , which is not very convenient for us. That we need to drive to the hotel area to use the facility.although they provided car for us, but need to be more details .the wifi pretty slow at the villa too..
Review 16:Nice view, clean , value for money.
Review 17:All great really. Only suggestion is to specify the villa has 4 en-suite bedrooms and is really ideal for only 8 adults as the sleeping arrangements for over 8 is only possible as extra single bed to be placed in each room. As at present advertised you have the impression that sleeping couches are available in a living area
Review 18:We stayed at the Hillview Villa with an absolutely glorious view of the sea and Cote d'Or Beach. We were a party of 10, all adults. The villa had all the comforts including a beautiful magna pool overlooking the sea where we enjoyed our sundowner drinks.
Review 19:Wifi didn't reach to the room
Review 20:Staff were great and honest. Neric on reception helped us as first time travellers to the island and was always honest and impartial in advice. Food was good and the sister restaurant cafe de arts is a must esp if you like the seafood. I left behind two pieces of my laguage and I received a phone call at my next destination to inform of this and that he (neric) would be on th ferry the next day to drop it off. We were both very amazed by the service and friendliness. Hotel was in a good location and the island was beautiful. Well worth a visit.
Review 21:Modest beach. Walkway to the beach through a restaurant. Sunbeds - it's a bit odd to me when they ask you to bring sunbeds back once you're done - 4-star hotel, imo, could afford a person to collect them. No window in the room. I know, it's sunny there, and it's "design", but looks odd. Toilet that opens up to the room is dubious as well. No wifi in the room. Had to go to bar/pool area. Humble (for a 4-star) breakfast. Live cooking is great, but choice of local fruits and pastry is quite poor.
Review 22:The hotel itself looks great. Nice room (except what is mentioned under 'didn't like') and shower. Great staff (perhaps, a bit too attentive, imo).
Review 23:There was poor wifi connection at our room, but it was not a big of a deal since we were on vacation anyways. And it helped us spend more time on ourselves to relax.
Review 24:Great location -- easy access to the beach an town. Great service and friendly staff. Excellent food especially the dinner menu. Peaceful and great place for relaxation.
Review 25:Room service was not available in the room.
Review 26:We went for our honeymoon to Praslin and chose to stay here. We loved how helpful the staff was and how at home they made us feel, we also enjoyed the food.
Review 27:Overall good experience, Service could be enance (we rent a car, The renter canceled but they didn't tell us)...they're too slow... Weak wi fi in the rooms
Review 28:Great location in Anse Volbert, confortable Beach, great landscapes, good Service and food
Review 29:It doesn't worth this money. Everything looks quite old, the bathroom is absolutely out of date, like in chip hostels. Breakfast was very pure and the staff there was unfriendly. Moreover they have stupid system with tables, so you can't choose the one you want. The swimming pool in the reality is three times smaller than on the photo. I don't recommend this hotel.
Review 30:The territory of the hotel is wery cosy with lots of trees, flovers and design details. The beach is 2 min from the hotel and it is wery nice. Our room for 4 people was quite big. The staff on the reception was friendly.
Review 31:Nothing,
Review 32:Le duc is one of the best hotels in Praslin, The beach is apporx 100 m from the hotel. The beach is very good, there are better on the island like Anse Lazio ( recomend to visit Anse Lazio at least 2-3 times during your stay ) The breakfest is extremely good with lots of variations. The food in the restaurant is also very good. The food on the beach restaurant is fantastic. The hotel staff is truly amazing and will cater your every needs, the rooms are spacious and the overall feeling of the hotel is very cozy and welcoming. You will not be dissapointed going here but you need to understand that Praslin is an Island and therefor you cannot expect the same thing as one could do in larger destinations, slower wifi connections etc. The relaxation is key to your vacation in the Seychelles. Will be returning
Review 33:We had a mix up on our room allocation which was frustrating as we had to wait around while it was sorted and then moved 2 times through the 6 days stay to accommodate the mix up. We did receive an upgrade however at no extra charge which made up for it!
Review 34:The rooms are fantastic, very plush and indulgent. Lovely and quiet too. Very relaxing by the pool and the staff were very warm, helpful and friendly. Eric, the barman was fantastic and really kind and friendly to the children, particularly Noah our youngest.
Review 35:Honeymoon suite, but..on ground floor just in front of the lobby, no wifi in the room, nespresso coffee machine in the room but chargeable.
Review 36:Nice & clean room, very large tub
Review 37:Pool is quite small...
Review 38:great room, lovely garden, great breakfast. very near to the beach
Review 39:very slow wifi - frustrating. staff recommended terrible car hire company.
Review 40:nice location and very clean
Review 41:Constant harassment from staff regarding when I was departing...couldn't handle simple requests.
Review 42:Breakfast and location
Review 43:We didn't like our stay because staff was rude and there was always a bad smell all over the territory of the hotel.
Review 44:The style and decoration of the hotel were marvelous Food was very good Room was perfect Beach was right on the doorstep of the hotel
Review 45:Food and drink were over priced
Review 46:Grounds, room was superb, staff were super friendly, pool, breakfast was a delight
Review 47:No info on the fact the hillside villa accessible by car only and the access road quite difficult
Review 48:No complimentary water provided in the room High Prices low value for money rush to check us out at the end
Review 49:Style Tranquillity Cleanliness Food
Review 50:The location and facilities were great. Thoroughly enjoyed the wide range of food choice for breakfast too!
Review 51:helpful staff
Review 52:It's hard to complain about Le Duc since it's a great place, but if I had to, the food and drinks are a bit too highly priced ($8 for juice; $5 for a Nespresso). Also a minor comment- while there are great options on the breakfast buffet, (eggs, crepes and waffles were expertly done), we were a bit surprised that breakfast standards like bacon, sausages, etc were not available in the morning, but things like fish, chicken and meatballs were. Still, you'll find plenty of good options to fill your stomach for a day of swimming and Le Duc remains a smart choice for a Seychelles holiday!
Review 53:We really enjoyed our stay at Le Duc, and traveling around Praslin in our rented car. Le Duc staff are very friendly, professional and helpful, from the front desk, to housekeeping and the restaurants. The grounds are set in lush surroundings and is an ideal location for relaxing and enjoying the peace, quiet and beauty of the Seychelles. Beautiful koi fish in the extensive pond surrounding reception and the restaurant were our favourite part of the morning! The room (Superior) was excellent, and in the new block of rooms you can enjoy a more private, smaller second pool to the main one, which is great at night! The main pool is a great design and is perfect for relaxing dips, though if long laps are your thing, it's too small. There's a fantastic and very long beach (Anse Volbert) a mere 3 minutes walk from the hotel, as the hotel is not directly on the beach. 20 minutes driving North from Le Duc was our favourite beach on Praslin, Anse Lazio with big waves, a great beach cafe, and truly breathtaking views. Islands close by can be reached on tours and should be taken advantage of. For food options, Cafe Des Arts at the hotel was very good (delicious lamb, great wine selection) though on the pricey side. We did not try the main dinner buffet, but it looked quite nice. Outside of the hotel within 6 or 7 minutes walking, there are many local and independent restaurants to choose from on the main road, Les Lauriers (creole BBQ buffet with unique, fresh and healthy dishes), Pirogue (amazing fish curry) and Da Luca which are cheaper and tasty. All in all, our stay at Le Duc was an wonderful start to the Seychelles holiday (we also stayed at the luxurious Hilton Labriz on Silhouette) and I'd recommend it to anyone with the budget for it, noting that a car to tour around the island is key to seeing more of the island's beaches, and other food options should be explored!
